Https (log in) pages and Top Sites...

I'm having trouble making any page that's https (such as log in pages) permanent in Top Sites. I get everything set up the way I want, quit, and upon restart, everything with https is gone, while my other permanent sites are still there as I left them.
Does Top Sites not allow https pages to be marked as permanent?

Try maintenance ...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If Safari unexpectedly quits, it could be a 3rd party plugins causing the problem. Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins. Move any 3rd party plugins to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Also, if you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Quit Safari then relaunch.
While you have the Get Info window open for Safari, make sure it's not running in Rosetta.
Keep your system software up to date. Go to the Apple Menu / Software Updates.
Repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that
"my airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet!"
then after seconds it will goes back to the first message that
"airport has the self assigned IP address etc....."
i don't know whats going on now!
airport tab is not showing green color anyway! i'ts always in yellow!

Coverflow and Top Sites missing!

Hi!
I have a steaming, freshly installed Safari and Graphics Card driver, and none of the shiny new features (Coveeflow, Top Sites) are to be seen. My system meets the requirement as listed on the download page, so I can't imagine why this is happening.
I have DirectX 9.0c installed. Here is a link to my laptop's specifications.

On my HP laptop, there is no option for top sites. No button on the config. I d/l it today, 091119 and installed on the HP laptop. I then uninstalled it (top sites was missing), and then installed again from scratch. No luck. Still not there and no button to drag and drop from the config.

MacFUSE and Top Sites?

Recently my top sites feature has begun disappearing. I've deleted plist files and reinstalled the program. This gets them back for awhile, but at some point the feature stops working again. All I get is the search history box overlayed on whatever page I happen to be on at the time I click the feature. That also is non-functional.
If I quit Safari and re-launch the top sites feature appears and is functional for awhile, but disappears again. I can't seem to reproduce the problem reliably, it simply stops working until l quit and relaunch the program.
I have NO third party add-ons. The only change is that I recently installed Parallels which placed MacFUSE in my startup folder. Could this be what's nuking the top sites feature in Safari?

MacFuse could be the issue. If you can, move MacFuse from System Preferences/Accounts - Login Items or /Library/Startup Items.

If your profile is correct, Safari 4 minimum requirements are 10.5.8. You can install the v10.5.8 Combo Update here.

  Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*

I have a password manager built into my fingerprint scanner. It worked on the older version of Firefox but it will not on this new version. It will not recognize log in pages and will not load information.

With the old version, all I had to do was go to the log in page to any of my email accounts or membership sites and scan my finger. It would fill in the fields and open my account. I like this new version of Firefox, but if I am not able to use that password manager then I will have to install the older version.

Safari 4.0 progress bar and Top Sites bugs (?)

I am having a problem with my Safari 4 and been searching for a fix since a few days but could not find a solution, so I hope there is someone who can help me out.
There are basically two problems, I have with Safari.
The first one is, that since Safari 4.0 there is a new kind of a "progress bar" which changes its color and is actually at first dark and then gets more light while loading a page. My progress bar is not chaning colors at all. It just stays dark all the time.
And the second one, is that if you have a site on you "Top Sites" and click that, it fades in, so it comes nearer and gets larger until it fits the window. So, if you go back from that site to you "Top Sites" again, it actually should fade out and move back to its old position on the "Top Sites". And again, my Safari does not do that either.
I don't know, if that is improtant or not, but I played around with the Safari 4 beta tweaks and changed the progress bar so I have the blue one in the background of my adress bar.
I already tried to restore my old Safari from my Programs folder with Time Machine and installed the 4.0 again but still, it does not work for me.
I know that these are not somehow critical bugs but it would be great, if Safari would just work, as it actually should.
So, is there a way to fix that or reset Safari?

Latest v of Glims (17) is Safari 4 compatible. Cooliris is functional, although a soon to be released upgrade will correct certain S4 related bugs. Tab Expose is not S4 compatible.
There is no blue progress bar in Safari 4. In S4 Beta, Terminal code was used to bring that S3 feature back, however, S4 final has removed the related code. Hence, no blue progress bar. Instead, there's a spinning gear to the right of the Address Bar indicating the page is loading.
Let Apple hear your sentiments about S4. Send feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report bugs to Apple.

How do I get rid of coverflow and top sites?

I'm finding both of these new features to be more annoying than useful. Is there anyway to turn them off? I haven't been able to find anything in the options.

No way to turn them off, however, you can hide cover flow in the Bookmarks Manager by dragging the small rectangle box below the cover flow scroll bar upwards.
Top Sites icon can be removed from the Bookmarks Bar via Safari Preferences>Bookmarks.
In Safari Preferences>General, you can dictate what occurs when you open a window or page. Change from Top Sites to something else.

Show bottom border in First page and top border in next page for rectangle in SSRS

I have rectangle inside that Text box and tablix are there, where the text data spans to multi pages (2 or 3 Pages) , so the Bottom border in first Page will go off and in other pages both bottom and top border will be not visible, and where the text
data ends in that page we can able to see the closed rectangle bottom border. .“OmitBorderOnPageBreak”
property is set to false only.

According to your description, you have a rectangle in your report, and there are tablix inside this rectangle. Now the issue is that there is no border on the bottom of first page and there is no border on the top of new pages when the tablix break to multiple
pages, right? If I have anything misunderstand, please point it out.
I have tested it on my local environment, and got the same results as yours. It seems this is default setting of Reporting Services. If there is border on the bottom of first page and there is border on the top of new pages, then this rectangle became
multiple rectangles.
The workaround for this issue is that add page header and page footer for your report, and add a line to them respectively. Then run this report, it looks like there is border on the bottom of first page and there is border on the top of new pages.

Delete the show side bar and top sites from Safari

I have never nor will I ever use the tabs for top sites and show sidebar which appear on Safari. How do I delete them from the tab bar?

aha! NOT tab bar BUT Bookmarks Bar! I guessed the TOOL bar at first. BOOKMARKS!
In the main menu bar choose [Help] > Safari Help
search " deleting bookmarks " > open that file
*in my version, it says "
You can’t remove the bookmarks bar or Bookmarks menu from the sidebar. You can’t remove History and All RSS Feeds, but you can delete individual bookmarks within them.
To remove Address Book and Bonjour from the sidebar, open the Bookmarks pane of Safari preferences and deselect them."
key to the bold statement is that one of the icons that you wish to disappear, may not not be removable. It is certain the 'Open Book' is there to stay.
I have personalized my Safari so much that I don't find your "Top Sites" folder or icon - If I removed it in the Bookmarks window, it would naturally disappear from the bookmarks toolbar - if you see it in the list, remove it and I'll bet it magically disappears from the Bookmarks Bar.

Norton Version 5.0 works with Mozilla 4.0 with a patch from Norton. I went to Norton help tab, chat line, and Norton assistant took over my computer, upgraded my Norton version 3.0, and installed the patch free of charge. all problems solved.

Trying to implement fail log in page and SSO

Hi everyone,
Currently I'm using Apex 4.0. My app has enabled SSO and is working fine using the domain users to authenticate. When an user tries to log in into the app using his PC and he has the rights to access it can use the system without problem. However there are some users who has their domain user, but they shared the same PC with other people. In this case, the PC always is on with a generic user for everyone. So if someone tries to access the app (which they has the permissions to use it) the app says! "Sorry you don't have enough privileges" that's because they are using the generic user for that PC and the app is validating that user.
So here is the deal... I want to use 101 Login page to show up in case an invalid user (generic domain usernames) tries to access the app and give to the user the chance to use his/her Domain username and password there in order to be able to log in into the the app.
Is there a way I can accomplish this? My app already redirect the generic user into the 101 login page, but can't make it to validate the username and password like the Automatic SSO process.

Actually I'm trying to generate sub pages to Page with some local JSP-portlets.
Basically I'm using PageBackingContext bean with overriding the constructor. In the constructor I'm trying to dynamically generate those sub pages.
Can't be quite sure if Page can have direct sub pages, or should I first create sub Book with needed pages... but anyway. I think all those Book/PageControls needs to be found somewhere... Although I'm currently trying your PageInstanceControlImpl() aproach to see if it works :)
