HTTPS sites don't load, have to refresh 10 times to load

Hello
No https sites load on my computer.
I really can't recall when this problem started, but it must have been a Firefox update, as I haven't updated my OS.
For example, to login into hotmail, I have to submit the form 8 or 10 times; the same happens for all https sites: twitter, facebook, etc.
I am guessing it is an SSL required library or mis-configuration, but I can't see which.
My Firefox version is 10.0.2, OS Mandriva Linux 2008.1 and my SSL version is OpenSSL 0.9.8g
Would you help me please?
Thank you in advance.
PS: hahaha for example, I had to submit this form 4 times :(

Does this happen with Internet Explorer, or any other browser?
You might want to import the other settings from that other browser, using the [[Importing bookmarks and other data from other browsers]]

  • Http sites do not load, but https sites do.

    A couple of days ago (on May 23), I noticed that most websites would not load, but a few would.   Then I realized that it was only the https sites that loaded (and it was all of them), and that no http site would load at all.
    I have no idea what caused this, as I was using the Internet like always on May 22, and I have never seen this problem before.  I turned off the computer  and went to bed.  When I turned it on in the morning, I discovered the problem.
    This occurrs in both Firefox and Safari.  The problem just started on May 23, and I don't know what the cause was, or how to fix it.
    There is another computer in the house that is on the same wireless network.   That computer has no problem (that one is a Mountain Lion).
    I'm really frustrated by this issue, as I cannot currently access most websites on this computer.   Thank you.

    Actually, I think the problem was caused by a conflict between AVG LinkScanner and the Sophos when Sophos updated last week.
    I had had the AVGLinkScanner on my computer and didn't like it.   I couldn't find a way to delete it, so I disabled it a long time ago.  I thought that it wouldn't affect my computer anymore, but apparently not.
    I was looking through this forum yesterday and I came across a question by someone else who had both Sophos and AVG LinkScanner installed, and the question was similar in nature.   They said their problem was fixed by uninstalling the AVG LinkScanner, and they provided a link to another discussion on this forum that details how to uninstall it.  So I uninstalled it (finally).
    After uninstalling it, I went back into the Sophos settings and turned back on the items in web protetection.  Then I tried http sites, and they still worked.   I also tried it this morning, after the computer was turned off and back on again, and the http sites still work.
    So maybe some of the other people who had Internet connection problems at the same time as I did had a similar issue -- having both AVG LinkScanner (whether enabled or disabled) and Sophos anti-virus.
    Either uninstalling AVG LinkScanner or turning off the web protection in Sophos solves the problem.    I think uninstalling AVG LinkScanner is better because it is an annoying program and, evidently, can still mess up your computer even when you have it disabled.
    I'll look for the link to the uninstalling AVG LinkScanner discussion again so that people can easily find it.

  • Https sites slow to load for IE in Server 2008 R2

    Hello All,
    I have an issue with our new server where https sites are slow to load or do not load at all in IE 9 or Google Chrome. Using Firefox any page loads fine. I have tested many things, reinstalled IE, downgraded to IE8, upgraded to IE10, checked
    the forums, tested SSL settings and still get the same issue.
    For example if I open IE, navigate to google.com I will get a "waiting for google.com" that will sometimes take 5 minutes to load; the same behavior is noticed on Google Chrome but not Firefox. I did notice that if I installed google.com
    SSL certificate that the page would load normally. I have tested the same method on another Server 2008 R2 box with no issues. I am not sure what the issue could be. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated since this issue is directly affecting
    business operations for my client.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    We can add the sites to trusted site and clear temp files for test. Detail steps are in the following KB.

  • Applets from a local http server don't load

    I am using Java7 SDK to compile my Java Applet Code. Same code was perfectly working with Java1.6 JDK and JRE1.6 update 37.
    But it stops working when I compile my code with Java7 SDK and on JRE 1.7 update 9.
    After spending lot of time I found a bug posted in Oracle site @ http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7184280 which states :
    With JRE 1.7, in a local network the communication is in IPv6 and there is a problem in the java code of the JRE which makes that in
    this case the applets don't load.
    For a workaround we need to add the parameter "-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true" in HTML applet tag.
    +<Applet+
    style = "position:absolute;border:0px;left:184;top:95;height:180;width:364;"
    code = "jtreeviewapplet.JTreeViewAppletMain.class"
    name = "TreeView"
    id = "TreeView"
    hspace = "0"
    vspace = "0"
    align = "top"
    archive = "/Project/HTML/ABC/XYZ.jar,/Project/HTML/ABC/ABC.jar"
    MAYSCRIPT>
    *+<PARAM NAME="java_arguments" VALUE="-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true">+*
    +<PARAM NAME="onSelected" VALUE="onSelect_Handler">+
    +<PARAM NAME="onFinishNormalize" VALUE="onFinishNormalize_Handler">+
    +</Applet>+
    Now after putting this paramete it works.
    But the problem here is that we are forcing our client to use IPV4 and we have to do all such changes in all the html file wherever it is applicable.
    There are almost 1245 html files , in which we are using applet tag and we have to put this parameter <PARAM NAME="java_arguments" VALUE="-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"> everywhere in the html.
    My questions are:
    1) Is this really a java bug?
    2) Do we need at all this parameter(-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true) to run our applet.
    3) what is the solution to get rid from this problem? I think all this stuff should be handled from java side. Becuase with Java 6 everythings are running.
    Could anybody suggest what to do, it would be a great help.

    975931 wrote:
    If this is not a bug, why after putting this one line +(<PARAM NAME="java_arguments" VALUE="-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true">)+ of code within APPLET tag everything works fine. Why this parameter is being exposed by Java?
    If there would have been ever a problem with network issues with the host machine then thing should not work as well with JRE 1.6 and all its updates. This is happening only with JRE 1.7 and its update.
    Right, there is no evidence but why it is not working is my question? What should I go a check for? Is there some thing I really need to change in java code?That has nothing to do with applets specifically. Its a parameter which forces Java to prefer IPv4 where it normally prefers IPv6. If that isn't working properly its more a problem of your machine, not Java. Java 6 happened to prefer IPv4 which is why it worked, but Java 7 is of course prepared for the very near future; I would take the hint you're getting here and investigate what you need to do to make your network IPv6 ready.

  • Working with firefox 28 on WinXP. https sites load well, but http sites do NOT load at all. Same happens on other browsers

    I've tried uninstalling, downgrading, upgrading Firefox (from version 17 to Aurora)
    and still the problem persists! I've shut down firewall, performed malware checks,
    cleared cache, history and cookies, started in safemode, and still nothing!!
    'https' sites (such as Facebook) load perfectly well, as opposed to 'http' sites that do
    NOT load at all, getting the following error:
    «Firefox could not establish connection to server in www.example.com.
    - The website may be temporarily unavailable or busy. Try again in a few moments.
    - If you can't load any page please check your computer Internet connection.
    - If your computer or Internet connection is protected by firewall or proxy,
    verify if «browser» has permission to connect to the Web.»
    I have the same version of firefox running on win7 on other computer and it works
    normally!
    Some 'http' sites will load if I insert an 's' after 'http' making them apparently
    'https'.
    Help please!! Thank you!!

    As Google Chrome is using some IE settings, it might be normal to have a similar behavior.

  • Why is my internet connection so slow and I have to refresh each time to read my email

    Why does it take so long to access my email or any internet pages....ALSO, when I am in my email, I have to "refresh" each and every time I want to read an email in my INbox.
    Sometimes I wait 5 min to connect to my email

    wilbur 46 - Have you tried the more general suggestions above?
    You should post your problem separately with full details of your extensions and plug-ins. You'll then get systematic troubleshooting advice.
    You could try starting in Safe Mode - hold down the Shift Key as you double click on the Firefox icon. If that works better you should try to identify any culprit extensions by a process of elimination.

  • HTTPS Site Won't Load

    I'm trying to go to the following site:
    https://sportal.uspto.gov
    However, I get the following error:
    'Safari can’t open the page “https://sportal.uspto.gov/” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “sportal.uspto.gov”.'
    I can open the page in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera, as well as by using curl from a Terminal window; however, only Safari supports an applet that I need to use at that site.
    From searching discussion groups, I tried enabling the Debug menu and using lax certificate checking, but that option is no longer available in Safari 2.0.4. I also tried fixing permissions and rebooting.
    Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to access this site?
    iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Safari 2.0.4
    iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office is looking into the problem. The problem was introduced by Apple's update to the file "/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CFNetw ork.framework/CFNetwork" in the 10.4.8 release. If I replace the CFNetwork file with CFNetwork_debug or CFNetwork_profile residing in the same directory, then I can access https://sportal.uspto.gov.
    The 10.4.8 release allegedly fixes a problem with CFNetwork by setting the default to disallowing unauthenticated encrypted SSL sessions. I suspect this may be the ultimate cause. This raises several questions:
    (1) Is there anyway to use curl or other browser to determine whether or not this is an unauthenticated encrypted SSL connection?
    (2) What is an unauthenticated, encrypted SSL connection? If I type "curl https://sportal.uspto.gov -v", the output suggests that the SSL certificate for the sportal.uspto.gov server is valid. Isn't this the only authentication that would occur? Wouldn't this make it authenticated?
    (3) How can I get Apple to fix this? If there is a potential security problem, Safari should at least give a message that is sufficient such that a user of Safari could tell a SSL server administrator what the problem is so that it can be remedied.
    (4) The USPTO is "working with Apple" to fix the problem. Does anyone have a clue as to what the USPTO configuration problem could be?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Cat layed on my keyboard and now Youtube and other sites don't load properly.

    Hi there,
    My cat got on my keyboard earlier and started flopping around, and now youtube doesn't look right, as well as other sites. When I run Firefox in safe mode, it does load but disabling the addons and plugins manually doesn't make it work. Did the cat disable something?

  • Does Adobe work with iPad? I do a lot of work for my business on my iPad but feel like certain sites don't load properly?

    I Use my iPad for most things as I'm on the go a lot. I don't know much about computers but seem to run into problems with accessing site that use adobe flash? Is there away round this with apple?

    No.
    Apple iPads and iPhones don't do Flash.
    The workaround is for those sites to drop Flash and update to use HTML5 instead.
    Got any examples of these sites? Are they mainly using Flash for photo galleries?

  • Some https sites displaying message "you have requested an encrypted page which contains some unencrypted information

    I am using Firefox 13.01 on a Mac os an I am using electronic box a Canadian ISP. I receive the message when i go to https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=electronicbox and a few others
    "you have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information. Information that you see or enter on this page could easily be read by a third party."
    The message clearly states that infomraiton can be read or enter can be read by a third party. I would like to know why "youtube" which has https, or SSL service which I am using still displays that message?

    Appreciate your suggestions, but this is sounding too complicated for me--especially since I just read Google Chrome is the most secure browser. I may just start using Chrome. Thanks very much anyway!

  • Some websites load fully, others I have to refresh several times to load. Fix?

    System is FX6831(Gateway)
    FF7
    This has occurred since FF5.

    Grossu, you may be having a problem with your internet connection. In my experience, this happens when the bandwidth is ''chocked'', which often occurs when you are using download accelerators, download managers or other software that ''steals'' all the bandwidth for itself.
    You may also be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Secure (HTTPS) sites freeze Safari

    Safari works fine on all HTTP sites but the blue bar freezes before the S on HTTPS sites, won't Quit, have to Restart or Reset. I tried removing com.apple.safari.plist, Caches/Safari, Library/Safari, Repair Disk Permissions, Resetting Safari and problem persists. I created a new account and Safari works fine. I am using OS 10.4.6 and Safari 2.0.3.

    Hi
    try this -
    Drag the file /HD/Library/System.keychain to the desktop ( as I recall, this will make a copy,rather than move the original )
    Now trash the original file. ( think you'll need an admin password, but don't worry if you're not asked for one )
    Try Safari once more......
    This has worked for a number of users experiencing https problems/freezes after 10.4.6.

    Using OS X ML with Safari 6 I am no longer able to access certain https sites. While loading the page I am asked for a client certificate which does not exist. I hit cancel but the site never loads and we have just a blank page.
    Any ideas?

    I have Block Cookie from third parties and advertisrs. I also just cleared all website data and even reset safari several times.
    Thank you for the suggestion. Any other ideas are appreciated.
    It might be worth noting that this happens with Chrome and Firefox as well but if I click on cancel after it asks for the client certificate the page will load si feel this is something with the SSL stack within the OS
