HU/SU seperate number ranges?

Is it a good practice to have seperate number ranges between Storage Units and Handling Units?
As we consider HU however as a heavy application-module, whereby sometimes simple internal SU in a WM can be sufficient.. Like wise we sometimes make use of external Logistic Service Providers which only require a pallet number for shipments, whereby they want to make use of own WM-systems (not requiring us to set up/maintain WM for them).
Thus we have configured in our system:
- locations managed via HU+SU  (Storagelocations requires HU, and linked to WM)
- locations managed via SU only (no HU)
- locations where we pack goods in IM via HU (no WM).
Of course when in a warehouse the HU+SU are combined =the same number, of course there are no issues and everything runs fine.
As the number range of HU runs much faster (as it is global)  than SU (which is WM-specific), I have my concern to block a certain HU-number range in order to allow those warehouses which donot use HU (only SU) to work 'error-free'.
For those warehouses or IM-locations where we don't combine SU/HU; we do experience that SAP it self esthablishes a link to a HU and a SU number although the material/plant/storage location offers no match. The match is purely based on the number. This is causing issues when differences are to be booked as we are hindered with this undesired SU/HU link.
Is seperating the number range the only answer?
Looking forward to your advice/best practice.

Hi,
May I know if the question still exists or not? If so, please reply it. Thanks a lot.

  • Seperate number range for outgoing & incoming documents in the cash journal

    Hi all:
i want to know is there a method to have seperate number range for outgoing & incoming documents in the cash journal,I saw that there is  a numbering group in ECC6 and i created a numbering group for both incoming & outgoing as well as i define number range for them, and when i tested it always takes the number range of the document type assigned in transaction FBCJCO.
define number range of the numbering group in T.C : FBCJC6

    HEllo,
It's not possible to assign this different number ranges:
If you check the SAP note 532888  you'll see the following:
" - Different number ranges for receipts and expenditures
For reasons of clarity, this is not provided - there are already
two numbers per cash journal document (fields POSTING_NUMBER as
    well as D_POSTING_NUMB)."

  • Is it possible to define a seperate number range for purchase requisitions

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to define a seperate number range for purchase requisitions that come from Forecast vs normal MRP requisitions so that our purchasing department can identify the origin of the document?
    Thanks
    for the thoughts
    Sreeni

You'd need to figure out manually how forecast PR's are different from MRP PR's (the field from PR tables ) and then in the user exit I mentioned the program looks at the table T161 and field NUMKI, and if the PR getting created is from forecast change that NUMKI in the program to a different one else keep it as it is. If you're know abap programming it won't take long to figure out the logic else work with your developer to implement it.

  • Seperate Number Range  Goods Receipt with accordance with plant

    Hi expert
I want to different number range accordance with plant, if 2 plant are there i need different range for both the plant

    > I want to different number range accordance with plant, if 2 plant are there i need different range for both the plant
    Hi Nabil..
If you are referring to Material Document No Range for GR/GI then plant wise numbering is not in standard sap. You have to build a customized program to achieve it.
However you can consider GR/GI slip numbers (manual or automatic) settings to enable different numbering apart from Material Doc number if that meets your requirement. You can do this in OMC1

  • Number Range Error in Invoice posting in FI.

    Dear friends,
I have copied F2 and created another Billing Document Type. A seperate number range series has also been maintained and has been defined in the newly created Billing document type.
At the time of saving and posting the Invoice with the newly created number range, system is throwing an error and disallowing the document to get posted, till the time the number range is not maintained in the series specified, from "9000000000 to 9999999999".
Once I am changing the number series in the billing document and maintaining the standard, system is allowing the document to get posted.
Can anybody help me with a solution, where I can use my newly created number series in any newly created billing document type.
    Rgds,
    Indrajit

    Hi indrajit,
There is standard setting in accounting document number range so that the accounting document number is same as you billing document number.
Check you accounting document type .
Goto transaction FBKP and see the number range assigned to the accounting document type.
Goto SNRO and give objed RF_BELEG and the series maintaines for the accountion type, if external tick is on the the systems assigns same number.
for this to happen your billing document number range should fall within the range specified for accounting document.

  • Subsequent Debit/Credit Number Range

    Dear Experts,
My client want seperate number range for Subsequent Debit/Credit in MIRO..
how can i can do this .....
    Thanx
    Neeru

    Hi Neeru,
This is impossible in std, but SAP provides the enhancement LMR1M003 for this purpose (trs SMOD/CMOD). The subsequent D/C indicator is provided in the field E_TRBKPV-TBTKZ.
Note however that the flag for subsequent D/C can be set in individual items, even though the whole document is a normal invoice/credit note, field T_DRSEG-TBTKZ.

  • Number ranges in SOLMAN 4.0

    Hello Experts,
We have both SAP users creating their SOLMAN tickets directly via the SAP Gui and Portal users leveraging SOLMAN's URL via the web to create their tickets.
Both the SAP Gui and SOLMAN URL are pointing towards the same number range and creating tickets using SAP SOLMAN Numbers. How can we segregate or isolate the creation of number ranges between SAP and Portal users? I mean how can we use a seperate number range for both these different tickets...
say Portal number ranges begin with "8888" and SAP user number ranges begin with "9999".
FYI: we are using SOLMAN 4.0 to create end-user incidents with integrated mySAP ERP2005 and Portal systems.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Sindhu

    Hi Ragu,
Thank you for your reply. They implemented the isolation of the number ranges for portal users and SAP users in SOLMAN 3.1 and they recently upgraded to SOLMAN 4.0. Now they lost this feature in 4.0 and both the tickets are pointing to the same number range buffer and they want to have the same feature in 3.1 (isolation of number ranges) to be implemented in 4.0.
    Thanks,
    Sindhu

  • Change Number Range of Material Document

    Hi Guru,
We have a requirement to change material document number range that depend on movement type.
I have check in SPRO and read some document for material document number range.
I understand that this is a standard SAP.
    - GR from PO or Order         Number Rage will be 5000000000 to 5099999999 and Fiscal Year
    - GR Other, GI, Transfer      Number Rage will be 4900000000 to 4900000000 and Fiscal Year
My question is Can we change this number range?
I guess that we have to implement BADI or User-Exit to determine new number rage but I don't know how to do this.
Please kindly advice or guide me.
    Thank you very much.
    Saiyaman

    Hi,
Insted of Movemen ttype you can asign seperate number range to a transaction code follow the process as below
First u need to create seperate document type in OMR4  or OBF4,   then create a new number range in OMBT  assign your new number range to new created document type then in T. code OMBA  assign new created document type to the transaction code  so whenever u will create document with this Transaction code u can get new number range.

  • Number range for goods movement

    Dear All,
Can we create a number range against defined goods movement.e.g. we want to create a seperate number range for material document  1) GR against a local purchase order 2) GR against a import purchase order........
    Please suggest..........
    Reg
    Sachin

    hii
    Its standard SAP response .
U can't maintain the number range for different procurement.
Because this docuemnts NR maintained according to the material docuemnt type in std SAP.
So try with transaction code OMBT , do create seperate document type for import and othere goods movemnt also. i have not tried .
So pls try to do this .

  • Seperate MVT 521/522 from 201/202 to different number range of mate. doc

The requirement is to seperate movement type 521/522 and 201/202.
SAP is set both the transaction/event type: WA. (GI, Transfer Posting,Other GR)
Is there any way to seperate these two kinds of movement to different material document number range?
I tried to find a enhancement to fulfill this requirement, but I've not found an appropriate one.
Any reply might be helpful. Please advise.
    Thanks.

As per my knowledge SAP have set this document type for material doc hard coded and have given any posiblity to change this and set the number range
logic is that those are internal document and there are many report where u can find document numbers according to movement type
i think sap have given some flexiblity in accounting doc number but not for material document number
    hope this helps

  • Seperate Document Number Range

    Hi all,
I have created a new movement type called 901 and 902 which is nothing but replication of movement types 541 and 542.
But I would like to know if its possible for the system to generate a new document number range for movement 901.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    G. Coelho

    Hi Goodwin,
    Just a thought:
Why dont you create a sub-contracting PO for the material which your sending out for repair? If the material code does not change after the repair, then just enter the same material number in PO material field & also in the components list. Maintain the price as 1 (currency as per your business need). Once the price is confirmed by your subcontractor, amend the PO.
Issue the material via ME2o or MB1B with 541 movement w.r.t this PO. And when you post a GR for this PO, system will auto post a 543 mvt for the components & a 101 mvt for the PO material.
    Hope the above helps.

  • Accounting document number range by division

We have a customer that has the following scenario: One company with two divisions, for differente countries.
    Company code: 200
    Divisions 281 and 284
When trying to release to accounting in VF02  a document created in division 284, is it possible to assign it to a different number range than the one used by division 281 ?

    Hello,
    If this a real scenario?
Ideally speaking for operations in each Country we create a seperate Company code. (except for Euro one)
Secondly Division is a two character field not three character as you have mentioned.
Further I feel your requirement is not possible with SAP Standard settings.
But if you sales Invoice number ranges are seperate for each Division, then there are couple of threads in the forum explaining the process to have same Sales Invoice & Accounting Number Ranges. Request you to search the forum & you will find a solution.

  • Excise invoice number range - for selling to SEZ

    Dear All,
While creating excise invoice for selling in SEZ unit, Excise invoice type is taking Deemed instead of LOU.  Because of this system is asking to allocate number range using J_1IEXLOC number object. Series group is 12 for EXPORT. As selling to SEZ is export under LoUwe would like to use number range in combination series group 12 and   number object J_1IEXCEXP which is already maintained for export under LoU.
Please give solution as soon as possible.
    Regards,
    Sagar

    Dear Sagar,
Because in case of SEZ, they get a special status by the Tax authorities in which various Tax scenarios doesn't come into picture, they can be a export oriented org and so get exempted from duties like Excise etc in normal scenarios but the SAP system picks the number range object J_1IEXLOC or J_1IEXCEXP based on your ship to party..and some other factors...so obviously in deemed export your ship to party will be within India, check with your ABAPer...that is why in case of deemed export J_1IEXLOC is getting picked by the system.
In case you want to change..you need to write a exit..say for these kind of customers..maintain a seperate customer group..and from that system should check which number range object should be picked.
    Thanks,
    N

  • Document Number ranges

    Dear All,
Pls help me to solve the issue reg document number ranges.
We have defiend the document number ranged for two company codes. Now ths issue is.. this document number range is being used/shared by both the company codes. For ex.. Invoice 01, 02 and 03 is posted in the company code A and we have not posted any Invoice in the Company Code B. If we post the Invoice in the Company Code B, number for the Invoice will be 04. And the next invoice in the Company Code A will be 05. But i will required to change the configuration to split the document number ranges..
Pls help me to do so.
    Thank you

    Hi,
This thing is obvious if the document number is being shared by more than one company code then it will act the following way...
for example :- Company code "A" is assigned with document number 01 and if you raise an entry it will take the range from 01...like document number generated will be 0000001
Company code "B" assigned with the same document number range 01 the next entry will create the next available number that is ....0000002
This happens b'cz its being shared by both the company codes.
Hence you have to keep seperate document number range for both the company code to avoid this confusion.
    Please assign points.
    Zia.
