Do you have AVG Safe Search installed? It blocks use of the Enter key after typing in a search string.
Disable it by clicking the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions. You should be able to find it in there. -

I replaced the original hdd in my early 2008 iMac. I can't move my files that were backed up with Time Machine to my new hdd using Migration Assistant. When prompted to select the "from drive", the ext. hhd does not appears as a selection. Please help!!
I'd recommend staring over, Pondini has created an excellent guide on how to use Setup Assistant. I'd recommend begin reading Pondini Setup Assistant tips where he talks about "Second Chance." Assuming your Time Machine backup is sound the restore should be very smooth.

First make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. If the printer is connected with an ethernet cable to a router then you may be able to do this instead:On the printer hold down the button that looks like a sheet of paper with an arrow on it for about ten seconds. This should print out a report.On your Mac open a browser and enter the printer's IP Address in your Address bar exactly as it appears on the page. When you are finished click on enter/return.This will open the printer's Embedded Web Server. In here you may be able to find some options to adjust the power save settings.If the above does not work then this troubleshooting may assist you with the utility:Go to Applications, and if you have it open the Hewlett-Packard folder.Run HP Uninstaller to remove any existing software from you system.On the Mac go to the Apple icon and Sytem Preferences.Open Printers and Scanners.Hold down the Command key and click on the picture of your printer on the left.Click on Reset Printing System.Go to Applications and Utilities.Open Disk Utility.Click on Macintosh HD on the left.Click on Verify Disk Permissions. This should take about ten minutes.Click on Repair Disk Permissions. Unzip does not work if osx is integrated in active directory
We have the following problem:
Unzip of zip-files (containing folders) does not work as soon as the osx client is integrated in active directory. The zip-file is located on the windows server file share. The share is mounted over smb to the client. We try to unzip it directly on that share with osx integrated zip / unzip functionality.
If we copy the zip-file to the local file system, unzip works.
If the zip-file contains just files, unzip works.
Under osx 10.8 unzip works. The problem occurs if we use 10.9 or higher.
There is no entry in the system log file.
If we try it with a 3rd party tool (stuffit expander), it works.
Deactivating of all of the domain policies does not solve the problem.
The problem occurs also if we mount the share with domain admin credentials. So there is not a problem with user rights.I have found the correct answer! After hours of research and chat with Verizon, I know it is operating correctly. Here is why:
If I have WIFI on, Verizon appllications can not be downloaded. So, if you are in the Verizon apps section for programs preloaded on your screen or any applications through Verizon, you can only download using 3G or 4G. If you have WIFI on, you must shut it down to use 3G & 4G networking of Verizon.
Any other downloads, not through Verizon, will download over WIFI. Even though the icons for 3G & 4G are visible when WIFI is active, they are disabled. My problem was reinstalling all the applications originally installed on the phone. To do that, WIFI must be shut down.
So the phone is working properly. I did find someone with Verizon who filled me in on this information. Thanks everyone for your help. -
"HP laserjet professional utility" does not work in osx 10 (Yosemite)
All the major functions of this printer work fine in Yosemite, but not the "HP laserjet professional utility"The driver shown in System Preferences/Printer for my Laserjet P1606dn is version 6.9 (I am unable to knowif this is the version provided by the latest HP printer update, which was installed via the App Store.) I note this exact issue was raised for OSX7 in November 2014, but for a diiferent model printer. My printer is on my local wifi network, and that earlier case seemed to invove a direct USB connection. The solution offered in that thread, 4694464,may not be applicable now, so I seek advice In the panel for my 1606dn within System Preferences/Printer offers a button to launch the "HP Professional Utility", but when clicked an app launches called the "HP Professional Utility" but then nothing. I am trying to access the printer controls that will keep it from turning itself off when idle, and the documentation says the "HP Professional Utility" will allow that change. Please advise

after my upgrade to 10.9 the printer started to does not work.
I could see the printer, but the status is waiting.
When I try to print, I see the message "Finding a printer", and it failed.
Any idea?I have a BX535WD and the same problem. Can't even add the printer with 10.9 in normal condition.
Removing printer once you manage to install it works, but after that it can not be re-installed unless you switch off/on the printer. Then you can re-install it and print and scan until you log off from your Mac system.
After that it cannot be found or used until you repeat this procedure.
This is very anoying ...
