Hub and online usage meters don't tally

After monitoring the data usage for a while we find the online data usage is approximately three times higher that what the hub reports (taking into account download and upload).
Really annoyed that it forced us to upgrade to unlimited when we use much less than 40Gb. Now it appears that our evening speed is really being throttled with a much higher latency. Wished we'd never switched back to BT.

the problem with using the hub figures is that the usage resets everytime the hub resets so unless your connection was stable and connected for a complete month you cannot compare

  • SPF SP1 usage Metering

    Hi Guys,
I have a question about SPF Usage metering. I've installed SPF SP1 update 1 and have configured per the documentation as specified
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn133231.aspx.
However I'm not getting any usage data and my spf configuration is working as per normal no issues. I see in the IIS Logs a https status of 301 (redirect) and a HTTP status of 401 (unauthorised). IIS Logs below.

The Administrator account is what I've used to register SPF and the usage metering says to use the account, which you initially used to register SPF. However I noticed that their is an error in the documentation, which Microsoft has provided
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn133231.aspx
The doco says add connect, delete, insert, select, update permissions for
    OnPremServicesCollectorSessions, OnPremServicesSubscriberWatermarks, and
OnPremServicesSubscriberTombstones.  However I noticed when executing the sql script
    SPFUsageFeatureUpdate.sql  doesn't create a table called
OnPremServicesCollectorSessions it actually creates a table called
    OnPremServicesUsageRecords. Screen shot below.
Any help on this would be really appreciated.

    Hi
To fix this issue I followed the steps in this blog: post: http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenter/archive/2013/08/01/how-to-integrate-your-billing-system-with-the-usage-metering-system.aspx
Pay particular attention to the Configuration ->Set-MgmtSvcSetting part and make sure you include the -Encode parameter.
I wasn't interested in creating a billing adapter (blog title) but had to follow these steps regardless to see usage data in the browser.
Let me know how it goes

You could always READ the article from which the question was posted as it explictily details how to find the IMEI and several other identifying numbers.  Including ways to find them in iTunes without the phone.

  • Faults on BT's online usage meter page

Assuming that it is July 1st today, surely my online usage meter at bt.com should have reset to zero. It still shows 30GB used out of 40GB (Option 2) as if it were still June.
What's more, clicking the Help with BB Usage links merely replicates the same page.
Something is not right. Woe betide BT if I get charged for exceeding my limit.

Mine's been reset in the last few hours between about 0200 hrs and 0830 hrs on the 2 July, with a new date on the left - 1 July 23:59. The previous datestamp on the "incorrect" meter page was 30 June 23:59.
But here's a strange thing: this morning at about 01:30 my Home Hub page was registering a reboot 3 days 12 hrs ago, and an incredibly wild usage figure of 45GB download, 7 hrs later it reads 2 days 22 hrs with the same d/l record

  • Online Usage anomally

Here is an interesting one. I had a faster broadband update email :-
    http://view.btemailsonline.com/2010/04/14/cell_1_migration_advice.html
    and my date was 18-Feb-2011.
I'm not really sure if it has completed, though the hub shows a connection time of 1day 11hrs at the moment (it's usually very stable in my case). The modulation is ITU-T G.992.1
I just looked at my online usage, and I have kept a small spreadsheet and up to 14th Feb it was 6.61GB usage - matching all my computer checkers.
Here's the latest figure - so I'm not sure if the update has caused this anomally or if there is something else wrong :-

    Hi Andy,
Sure looks like it doesn't it , a bit like my problem here, except that mine jumped forward by about 9 gb over 13 days , but it was just after they did some work at my exchange.
Strange 'cos I had a lift & shift and a card reset yesterday but the usage monitor agrees with my own checkers, well so far anyway.
    Del.
It's a weird one, and if I was on option 1 and hadn't made a note of my usage, I would be slightly concerned whether the actual usage was the chart figure alone, or in addition to a hidden figure before this strange reset.

  • Online Usage Statistics

This post is about online usage statistics
Why are they not provided, when BT clearly has the information (it's provided in the "over the limit") e-mails that BT send?
Why does BT continue to ignore (for at least the last 2 years) the several e-mails / complaints every day on the subject to the (Indian) Customer Service Centre?
The standard answer is "download tracking software", but that's fairly useless and impractical for multi-computer users
The next common answer is "check the Hub statistics", but that's also unreliable due to periodic resets
The real answer is for BT to provide this information from the point of collection - i.e. their servers and via a web gateway
So come on BT, provide the information
    TIA
    Martin

So I got another warning today about exceeding the limit
Same story, no definate data, no knowledge when online data would be provided
Except that the man said "it used to be provided online, when usage limits were less"
If it was provided - why is now witheld ?

  • How I rooted my Arc S and removed apps I don't need

WARNING: Here be dragons.  I don't work for SE but was surprised that my Arc S came with some apps that you cannot remove without rooting your device.  Seeing as internal memory space is already a bit limited I decided to root so I could run the wonderful Titanium Backup app and remove the stuff I had no interest in.  I'm posting this in case others wish to do the same but I accept no liability if you remove something important and your phone crashes or won't boot.  If you do screw it up then you should be able to use the PC Companion tool to restore the stock image.
FWIW I have an Xperia Arc S running the .42 firmware image.
Root your phone using the Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit v3.0 (zergRush Exploit).  Full details can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350  It's very easy and happens so quickly you'll wonder if it did anything at all.
After restarting your device you can check it's rooted by seeing if you now have Superuser and Terminal Emulator apps in your app drawer.
Next download Titanium Backup from the Market.  There is a free version available.
Fire up Titanium Backup and tap the Backup/Restore button at the top of the screen.  You will be greeted with a long list of apps.  To remove an app simply tap it and choose Un-install but I urge you to use the Backup option first to back it up to your SD card!.  Here is the list of apps that I removed from my phone:
Adobe Flash (I don't bother with web sites that require Flash)
Adobe Reader (reading PDFs on my device isn't something I do)
Anonymous Usage Stats (I don't need to send stuff to SE)
    Chinese Keyboard (I'm not Chinese)
Crash Monitor (phone is fine without it)
Data Monitor (I use a separate O2 UK app for monitoring data)
devicemonitor (phone is fine without it)
    Email (I use gmail exclusively)
FOTA Kill (sounds like something the CIA want on your phone *cough*)
Friends games & applications (I'd really rather not know)
Friends music & videos (ack, a friend of mine posts a 100 YouTube videos on FaceBook a day - drives me nuts)
    FUN&downloads (if you say so!)
Home screen tips (a widget that gives you Android tips)
    Lets Golf (no, let's not)
    Magic Smoke Wallpapers (goodbye battery)
    Music Visualization Wallpapers (goodbye battery)
OfficeSuite (I use Google Docs instead)
POBox Touch (something to do with the Japanese keyboard)
QC SEMC Service (some quality control app?  Removing it hasn't done any harm)
R2R Client (Ready To Run - not sure what it is but phone is fine without it)
Retail Demo (I don't work in a phone shop)
    Sakura (Chinese keyboard skin)
SecureClockService (this might be DRM related - which I avoid like the plague - and removing it has done me no harm)
Setup guide (I'm cool with not having this)
SIM Toolkit (I don't even have an icon for this anyway)
Sony Ericsson Sync (deprecated by Sony anyway)
Sony Ericsson Sync client wizard (ditto)
    Street View (never use it)
    Support (I use this forum!)
Talk (I hate Google Talk as it can drain your battery if you don't disable it)
    TrackID (I use Shazam)
Update center (removing this will disable OTA updates but I use PC Companion for updates)
    Wisepilot (I use Google Maps)
    Woody (Chinese Keyboard skin)
    Xperia Hot Shots (No thanks)
Your mileage may vary but I went from 320MB or storage to 420MB.  Any my device feels snappier and I bet my battery life is better without running extra services.
There is a more comprehensive list to be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
Exercise caution and if you're not sure then you can use the Freeze option in Titanium Backup to stop the app from running without deleting it.
REMEMBER TO BACK THESE APPS UP BEFORE YOU USE THE UN-INSTALL OPTION!

    Hello
I rooted my Sony Ericsson Arc S by following your excellent and easy to understand instuctions in order to remove some of the unwanted crap that came preloaded on the phone and in order to install the rooted version of Avast antivirus/antitheft app.
Everything has worked perfectly well for the last few months since doing this however now I am unable to update the phone via the sony ericsson update service.
    Please advise

  • Unnaturally high cpu and memory usage

    Hello.
I have installed WL 6.1 and WL Portal 4.0 on a w2k machine. It has a
    800 cpu (I think), and 512 RAM.
What happens is: After server startup, everything is low and nice. But
after a few jsp compilations, the cpu jumps to 100% and stays there,
even after the page has been returned and the browser says "done".
Actually, memory usage isn't that high; the java process is using
about 50 megs of memory. But it has exceeded this a couple of times,
    and used 200+ MB.
The database is also running on another machine.
I tried deploying the same application on a locally installed
WL/Portal, and the same thing happened, only with much more memory
usage, about 200 - 250 megs. My machine became useless, and I had to
    shut down the server.
What is causing this? Is the server's configuration totally screwed,
or can some code be doing this? Btw, I know I am the only user on this
    server...
On other threads here, I have seen people supplying server dumps of
processes etc. How do I see this dump, or what processes within the
    server are running?
I am very grateful for any help with this.
    Christer

Take a thread dump of the server. You should at least be able to see
    what it's doing.
On UNIX, you can send a SIGQUIT. (ie kill -3 the process)
On Windows, you can CTRL-BREAK in the window.
If you search for thread dump on edocs.bea.com, you should see a full
    explanation.
Also, these groups can be searched on groups.google.com.

  • I am using BT Broadband home hub and want to use my time machine - Can I turn the wireless router off in TM?

    Hi,
I have BT home hub which is now my main router in the house.  I also have Apple TV which works off the router and a network adapter around the house which is perfect for all my needs.  However, I also have a time machine but haven't used it for a while now as it's internal router overrides my current network which causes problems.
Being that i'm not very 'technical' I was hoping someone could give me a  'guide for dummies' instruction on how to turn off the wireless signal inside my time capsule without messing up the BT router?
    Many thanks in advance
    Alex

    Thanks guys,
Sorry, just to clarify, I need to connect the ethernet cable to my home hub and my TC first before i can do this?
And once i've done this will my stuff be backed up via the cable or wireless?
I know these are probably very stupid questions but like I said, i'm a div when it comes to this stuff!

  • Best practises for Hub and spoke Metro Etherent network

    Hi there,
It is my first MAN deployment. I will use the 6513 as the core switch and the 3550 as the edge switches to the customer.
The customer has 9 locations. The customer asked for interconnection between the 9 locations and his Data center in his HQ.
Additionally his Internet connection is at the HQ too.
What is the best practice to architect this solution addressing security? How I deploy VLANs (like one vlan for the internet, one vlan for each department, one management vlan. Etc)
    Any advises

    Hi Sam,
Let me add my two cents here, when speaking about MAN deployments the name of the game is MPLS, so I guess you are using the same on your Cat 6500s and connecting your customers on 3550s using Vlans.
    Regarding your questions:
    a) Upgrading Ethernet to L3 for traffic shaping: This is basically done at 3550, so I suppose that's what you intend to do, plus you will be letting Spokes talk to only Hub site, so inter Vlan, atleast between Hub and each spoke will be required, hence inter valn routing. Other way is to configure P2P circuits between Hub site with Vlan mapping (per spoke) and Spoke sites with Port mapping, in this scenario Inter Vlan routing is not a necessity.
    b) Security: This depends on what exact architecure you have deployed, in my case I have simply installed a Gateway router with BGP peering with PEs, a separate VRF alongwith redistribution does the trick.
Hope I addresses the query correctly, let me know if that helped..
    Cheers

The message is completely nonsensical as I the account holder and I've logged in with valid credentials. I tried calling the helpline and am still waiting for someone to call me back, even though I called them two hours ago. What awful service.

    Hi W0035521,
Welcome to the community forum. Do you have more than 1 BT ID? It sounds like you have another ID that has been set up with account holder status. I can take a look at this for you. Please send me in your details using the "Contact The Mods" link found in my profile.
    Thanks
