Hub problem - Green, Blue & Two Yellow lights cons...

Hi Guys,
I apologize if this has already been posted on here but I am struggling to find the same problem in this forum.
Basically this morning my remote control would not work with the BT Vision Hub. So I ignored it to allow it to maybe sort itself out. Later on today the same problem is occurring - even if I press the on/off button on the hub (green light button) nothing happens. So I pulled out the power cable, re-plugged it in after say 30 seconds, and still the same problems. I have now repeated this process and the green light and the blue light (on the same rectangle button which has the on/off on the left hand side) are both constantly on as well as the two lights to the right of them - so the recording light and the one following it. I think normally the recording light would be red if it was recording; where as these two are yellow. My controller is still not working with the hub and neither is the hub itself when I press any of the buttons.
Typical this happens on Boxing Day....but if anyone has any suggestions for what can be done to fix the problem that would be most appreciated.
Kind regards.
Jake

Hi notoriousbp,
Thank you for getting back to me. Yes that is correct I am still using the silver box, and yes I did only reset the vision box yesterday and not the Hub.
I have followed your instructions today around an hour ago. But when I came to turn the vision box back on (after I turned the Hub back on), none of the lights on the front come on (aka there is not a green power button light) - the vision box fan works though (so the vision box is technically got power into it) but its not partically loud (not as loud as when you would typically turn it back on from the mains).
I have repeated the process of unplugging the the vision box and even giving it say 15 minutes to warm itself up, but still nothing.
Its not sounding very promising to me - I was just wondering is there a master reset button anywhere thats worth pressing? I have had a look but can't see anything on the back or front.

  • Steady Yellow Light

    Hi,
I bought a used time capsule 2nd gen. about 5 months ago. It's been working fine and I even replaced the old 500GB with a new 1TB drive WD Green.
The yellow light is not flashing but is solid yellow since the first day I bought it (never had solid green showing), BUT it shows green on the airport utility with no
    conflcts reported.
I Also have an airport extreme connected (wired roaming) to the base station (TC) that shows steady green.
Could it just be that the light on the TC is faulty since it shows green on the airport utility?
    Thanks for the help.
PS: no overheating issue here and I also reseted the TC few times.

I'm not sure how much more effort you want to put into this.
    Options:
    Ignore the amber light
Place some white stickers over the light to cover it up entirely
Try a Factory Default Reset on the TC if you have not already done so.
Pull the power from the TC
    Wait 5-10 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the TC
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the TC to restart
    Then try the configuration again
There is nothing more to try after this.

    Three options:
    1. Call AppleCare.
    2. Go to an Apple Store.
    3. Go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)

  • A family member set up my time capsule, promises that it is set up correctly but the light on the capsule isn't green, it is yellow, what does this mean?

A family member set up my time capsule and sayy it's workign correcly but the light on it isn't green, it is yellow...what does this mean?

If the Time Capsule is operating normally, the light will be green.
If the amber light is blinking, something is not adjusted correctly, or there may be an update available for the Time Capsule.
Do you have the device that was used to set up and configure the Time Capsule there?  Is this a Mac?  If yes, we need to know what operating sysem it is using.
If you are not sure, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen and then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

  • Hello to all: My iMac has developed a video display problem. It displays everything in cartoon like colors - purple, green, blue. Can this be repaired? Is there a way to output to a different monitor? Thanks in advance!  isplays

    Hello -
My iMac has developed a video display problem. Everything now appears in a strange, cartoonish way. Purples, greens, blues. Can this be fixed, and if so, any idea how much it might cost? Also, could I output to a seperate monitor? I plan to replace the unit , but cannot right now. Thanks!

Go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing.
In the Display area, reset it to "Black on white" by clicking that checkbox.
You can also reset it by pressing Command-Option-Control-8

  • AIRPORT EXPRESS AND CONFIGURATION PROBLEM.YELLOW LIGHT NEVER STOP FLASHING.

good morning yesterday i bought an Airport express device.when I tried to install it ,the yellow light never stop falshing, for that was impossible to me to configure airport express.Do you have any idea to solve this bad problem?please help me!.thanks a lot.

    Hi Irenefromitaly,
have you tried to configure your Airport Express via Cable? That's faster and easier.
Or you press the reset button for 5 secs and keep your airport utility searching. wait for some minutes, its takes some time wirelessly..

  • Success blinking yellow light is now green

I called tech support and finally I am up and running with my new airport extreme. Originally I followed the instructions over and over with no success. I had a usb hard drive and another computer plugged into the router. So I unplugged everything, and called tech support. We connected the power to the router, and cable modem only. Then re booted the cable modem and presto I have a steady green light. So if your at the edge of sanity looking at that rotten flashing yellow light try just having the power and cable plugged into the airport extreme thjen reboot the modem. It worked for me.

Everyday I am more and more impressed with the APEBS. I run it with "n" only, and through an eathernet connection I hooked up a "g" router for my computers with onlky a 'g" card, and both work great.

  • My airport has a flashing yellow light. Does this indicate a problem?

I have a fairly new airport but noticed the yellow light is flashing? Does this mean it isn't connecting properly? What do I need to do?

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line in the summary of settings) and a window will open to explain why the amber light is flashing
If everything seems to be working OK, it might be a message that an update is available for the AirPort Express

  • Solid Yellow Light requiring reset

I have an AirPort Extreme base station with two iMacs as my basic wireless home network. I have a TiVo Series 2 unit also on the network. My DSL modem is attached to the AirPort Extreme base station and I have a rock solid connection to the Internet from both iMacs.
I bought an AirPort Express for the sole purpose of streaming iTunes to my Living Room stereo and for many months have enjoyed consistent and reliable service.
Recently however, I frequently discover that the AirPort Express is missiing from the network. There is no AirTunes selection button in iTunes and the AirPort Express doesn't show up in the AirPort Admin Utility. Checking the unit reveals a solid yellow light rather than the solid green used to always see. Unplugging the unit results in a reset and things are fine for a day or so when suddenly the yellow light is back and the AirPort Express is missing in action again.
I've tried all sorts of variations on the "Use Interference Robustness" change channels, etc. strategy with no change.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bailey Walker

    Bailey:
A continuous solid yellow status indicator on the Airport Express is never consistent with any normal operating mode for this device.
I suggest you do a factory default reset per:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
...then reconfigure it from scratch with the Airport Setup Assistant.
If this problem recurs, it is likely you have a defective Airport Express - and if it is still under the one-year warranty I suggest you get it replaced.

  • I Hate Flashing Yellow Lights )-:

I have just switched from Comcast to Centurylink. My reasons for switching were primarily two:  1) I saved 50$ a month 2) I despise Comcast's business model
Also, with my Airport Extreme, I can establish a Guest Network that my literally poor next door neighbors can use without us running into each other. I was originally not using my Airport Extreme because it had interface problems with my actiontek Q1000 modem from Centurylink. When used in a hardwire sense, theQ1000 works wonderfully, consistently 38-40 Mbps on my iMac, but wirelessly, it was pitiful, 3 Mbps on my iPhone, and 8-10 on my iPad. The Genius' at my Apple Store said that it worked poorly as a wireless modem, and because it was G in format, it didn't interface well with my iPhone. In turn, they said the slowness on my iPhone slowed down my iPad. If you are a tech nut like me, you know how irksome it can be to see that constantly flashing yellow light and not know enough to remedy it, and turn it back to green. I'm one of those guys that can't sleep at night until those update numbers disappear from my iPhone and iPad desktop. If you can give me any ideas to fix the problem, you may help prevent me from bludgeoning myself to death with my old Microsoft keyboard. Yikes!!!

To configure the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode using the 10.7.4 operating system.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Make sure that the setting for Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update at the the lower right and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to display a green light
Then, power down the entire network....order of devices is not important
    Wait a minute
Start the modem/router first and let it run a minute by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme the same way
Continue to start devices one at a time until the entire network is powered back up

  • My 1st Generation time capsule won't connect to the internet thru a new motorola sb6121 - get continuously flashing yellow light. Using a router in between the modem and capsule yields good but slower connection to internet. Any thoughts?

My 1st Generation time capsule won't connect to the internet thru a new motorola sb6121 - get continuously flashing yellow light. Using a router in between the modem and capsule yields good but slower connection to internet. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for your response
Let me give the history - I started with an Apple Express being fed thru a D-Link  EBTR 2310 cable Router from an RCA DCM315 Modem (Pure). Comcast service all the way.
Got the 1st generation TC in 2008 and merely replaced the Airport Express with the TC. Worked ok
A year or two ago I did try removing the modem and feeding the TC directly from the modem. Resulted in the same condition I have now - Continuous flashing amber on the TC. So I put the router back in the chain.
Some time later, at the recommendation of a Comcast rep, I replaced the router with (a Belkin F5D 5231) to see if speed and dropout problems would be improved. I thought it helped some at the time but now I am not so sure.
Last week I decided to see if a new modem would help with download speeds. So I got another pure cable modem (Motorola SB 6121- high on the Comcast recommended list).
Got up and running easily with Comcast help and with the modem connected directly to a computer.
Next I put the TC in the link and again could not get past the TC continuing to flash amber. Although I did get connected to the internet with this configuration I lost connection two both of my printers - one connected by USB and the other wirelessly to the TC. Again everything works fine when I put the Belkin router back in the system.
    However with the router in there, the modem shows the downstream connection to be 10/100 ethernet speed. (Modem light changes color for indicating speeds.}
I have gone thru all of the combinations of powering down/ up, but all stays the same.
I can live with what I have but something still doesn’t seem right.
    Thanks again

  • Airport extreme time capsule yellow light - no Internet - cable modem does work

Is their a reset button on the time capsule or am I out of luck.
Yes I have turned on and off etc. the cable modem has been tested and is functioning ... Do jthese units go bad.
    Thanks friends

    Airport Extreme
    or
    Time Capsule
    These are two different devices?
You have a yellow light on both of them?
However, yes, you can reset either one of them.
A yellow light could mean there is just an update for each one of them.
But if yours isn't working there is another problem.
See this Apple doc about the blinking yellow light:

  • Green & Blue pixels of death  -  Hotfix

Occasionally my screen will boot swarming with green & blue pixel sized dots. If I take a screenshot, and look at that screenshot on another computer, they are not visible. I used to reboot until they disappeared, and then started putting the display to sleep and waking it up, but encountered sleep problems with Leopard. I've since found a faster, more reliable way to chase them away.
    - Change the resolution of your screen one lower, and then back to your desired resolution -

    Stop changing the screen resolution.
There's a few workarounds with this, sadly no fixes.
*1, When it happens. Press the power button/standby button on the side of the display and unplug the display (from the mains) gives it two seconds and plug it back in. As it's powered back on, the dancing pixels are gone and its saves you having to reboot/sleep/restart all the time.*
*2, Get dockables. http://getdockables.com/ It has the sleep display app that you can put in your dock and activate to quickly get rid of the dancing swines.*
No need for messing with resolution changing, or restarts etc.
*3, The most simplest one of all. When your display goes to sleep, before you wake it up and the screen is covered in dancing pixels. Power off the display via the button on the side of the screen. Then tap the key (keyboard) or move the mouse to wake up the machine. Then tap the power button on the side of the display again.* The screen will be clear from dancing pixels. You'll have to do this each time when it enters sleep.
I can't guarantee you'll never get them. As I have tested this many times and I haven't had it with workaround 3. Sure it may be a pain, but its the only way I have found testing this.
Something triggers the signal to become messed up, and I'm betting its driver related because the OS sends the display to go to sleep. So something must malfunction with the driver/signal to cause all the dancing pixels upon wake up.
As it is no rocket science if somebody has replaced display after display, system after system, graphics card after graphics card and the problem remains.
This is such a bad intermittent problem, that Apple are not aware of.
