Hub settings - how do I find connection speed?

Hi
I've followed the advice on the BT website http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32209/~/how-do-i-find-the-connection-speed-for-my-bt-...
but the resulting page doesn't show the actual connection speed, this is what I get (s/n and mac address erased my me)

No.
The BT checker will tell you your profile and your throughput but not the speed you are actually connected at.  These are 3 different things and it is useful to know if your profile is a lot lower than your connection speed.
There are ways to do it but I'm guessing such discussion wouldn't be wanted here.

Make sure you are using iOS 5 or higher (required for iCloud).  Also, if this is a phone from your employer or you have added your employer's exchange email account to your phone, they may have pushed a security profile to your phone removing iCloud.  (Check Settings>General to see if there is a setting called Profile near the bottom.)  You would need to contact your emplyer's IT department to confirm this.

  • How do I monitor connection speeds on the E4200?

All my previous routers have allowed me to monitor my connection speeds however I can't find this in this router.  I found the client table under "status" but I have not been able to find the connection speeds anywhere.  I like to make sure that my devices are running at close to 300Mbps and not 54Mbps in case I have a connection setup wrong.  I have searched in the forums without much luck.  Thanks.

Tomato or DD-WRT opensource firmware would allow this...keep in mind that the E4200V2 will NEVER be supported by any opensource non-OEM firmware!

  • How to tell wireless connection speed?

    Hi,
I've just bought a new draft-n wireless router, I bought the Netgear DG834N as it has a Broadcom chipset in the hope that it will be more likely to interoperate with the Broadcom chipset in the iMac.
My question is, how can I tell what speed my mac is connecting at via wireless? I'm running Leopard and I've looked in wireless status, just shows me what network and that it's using security. I also tried 'ifconfig en1' from the terminal, but that doesn't mention it either. The admin page of the router just shows connected MAC addresses, not what speed etc. that they are connecting at.
    Thanks in advance!

I am still curious about iStat Pro. When I copy a large file over my network, AP Grapher will report 130/130 (presumably transferring at 130Mbps, however iStat will report 6MBps (48Mbps). Can any explain this?
When discussing the “speed” of a given Wi-Fi device, it’s important to make a distinction between the unit’s theoretical maximum data transfer rate and what it actually does (the actual throughput). A Wi-Fi device’s data transfer rate refers to the speed at which data is transmitted to and from the device. For most 802.11n products currently available, including the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), this number hovers around 300 Mbps, which includes the video or audio media you’re streaming, as well as a large chunk of overhead and control data necessary to maintain security and reliability.

Alternately, the term “throughput” refers to the amount of video, music, Internet traffic, or gaming data that can pass through your wireless network under real-world conditions. For instance, even though 802.11g networks offer 54 Mbps data rates, the actual throughput is typically less than half the speed of the data transfer rate. Below, I’ve listed the data transfer rates as well as ballpark throughput rates you might encounter under real-world conditions. Your results may vary.
Wi-Fi Standard / Data Transfer Rate / Throughput
Rate
    802.11b / 11 Mbps / 4 Mbps
    802.11a / 54 Mbps / 23 Mbps
    802.11g / 54 Mbps / 19 Mbps
    802.11n / 300 Mbps / 82 Mbps

  • I devices - Iphone, Ipad connection speed very slo...

Has anyone any advice on how to maximise the connection speed between Iphones, Ipads etc... with the BT Home Hub 4.  The broadband speed to the house seems fine (7mbs DL). and any PC or MAC wireless device has great wifi connection.  BUT I simply have awful connection with any I device. They seem to hang on any wifi demand. I cant even listen to LBC!
I have contacted BT - but no advice given. I did not have this wifi issue with SKy - but moved as BB to house was traffic managed.
    Cheers

If that doesn't work try g
iving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection and then restart the phone and ipad and log onto both. They should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.
You'll need to connect your other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use both frequencies.

  • Connection speed on j2me client

    Hi,
Can anybody tell me how can I calculate connection speed (or bandwidth) on mobile device using j2me (midlet)?
I know that I can measure ping to the server, but this is only one thing. I also need to know how strong is the signal in my current position in the gsm cell. Is it possible get this information using j2me?
    Thanks in advance.

Generally: no. Only devices with the ATCommand api have access to these properties, and there are not a lot of devices that support this.

  • How many pcs can connect to hub at same time

how many pcs can connect to hub  at same time, I have looked everywhere and if you know where did u find the answer,  many thanks

Most routers specs I've seen have a theoretical maximum of 256, but obviously due to practical performance issues would likely limited to less than 20.
As said, usually more than a home user would need.

  • How can I find the number of megabytes per seconde of mij connection with internet

In a tuning program is asked the number of MB per second of mij lan-connection with internet.
I should like to know how I can find that number.

    Hey Tongo,
This isn't really a Firefox question. I would suggest doing a quick Google search for "Internet Speed Test" or something of that nature. I know a very popular one is located here: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Where can I find the connection speed for my AllTel hookup?

I'm trying to compare the speed of my AllTel hookup (cellphone service) with possible DSL thru my local phone company. The phone company talks about 10 time faster than dial up and I heard there is a way to find out how fast your current connection is on your computer. Where is this information?

To check my DSL speed, I use:
    AT&T DSL Speed Test
    http://helpme.att.net/dsl/speedtest/
Speakeasy Speed Test (this one is the best)

  • TS1398 my friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network.  I could not remember my pass word/ Id so she couldn't go online.  How do I find out what it is so that others may connect to the internet when at my home. Thanks.

My friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network... I couldn't remember my password and didn't know how to retrieve the info from my ipad.. How can I find ut what the PW is to my wireless network? Thanks

Your password is something you created and is configured in your router. Your router may have the facility to reveal a password but you will have to find that out for your router.
Alternatively, you can reset your router back to factory default which will remove your security settings so you can reconfigure them. This is usually a small button you press on the back of the router. Maybe recessed in a small hole so you need to use a toothpick to depress it.

  • Wireless  Connection: how do I know the speed?

I have my iMac core duo connected via Ethernet to my 802.11n Airport extreme, as well as my mini SCintel via wireless, and my macbook 2.16 core 2 duo via wireless as well. All work well, but i would like to know how to find out 2 things. First, how can i check the bandwidth of my connection, as in my internet connection speed? I have a 3mBs service, and want to know how fast my connection really is> is there an application within my mac, or a 3rd party app that can show me my connection bandwidth or speed? Second question is, is there an application that can tell me who is using my wireless network?
    Any help would be appreciated

You can check the speed of your Broadband connection by going to http://speedtest.net
The interface is pretty easy to navigate, just click on a pyramid. The recommended one is gold and the rest are blue.
I am not aware of how to tell the wireless connection speed on a Mac.
You can usually tell who is using your wireless by logging into the router and looking at the DHCP client table.
