I have a problem with Hub transport server .If  we shutdown Hub transport server the exchange mail users they can't login to email . how can we solve this ? or can i create another one Hub transport ? or which one best for
Usss.
I am waiting .

Hi Subash,
I suggest you install one HUB+CAS and configure CAS array to load balance your CAS servers.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/ucedsg/archive/2009/12/06/how-to-setup-an-exchange-2010-cas-array-to-load-balance-mapi.aspx
CAS Array will not load balance by itself you should have a load balancer. It is an object in AD. Please read this to understand about CAS array. http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-server-2010-cas-array/
If you have a load balancer it will load balance both HUB and CAS.
if you don't have budget for load balancer you can go with DNS RoundRobin which is not an automatic failover system. Please read these. Threads discussing about DNS RoundRobin and CAS array.

  • Redundancy For On-Premises Hub Transport Server

I'm using a Hybrid Environment - Exchange 2010 SP3 On-Premises and Exchange Online. Mail routing between the 2 systems happens through one Hub Transport server located on-premises. The default settings mandate using a certificate for SMTP connections, both
    ways, as stated
here. The problem is that a certificate cannot be used twice for SMTP inside an Exchange org, so having redundancy in place would require minimum 2 valid certificates issued by a Public CA. Is there a method for getting away with only one cert and having
multiple transport servers balancing the SMTP traffic between on-premises and Exchange Online ?
Two workarounds come to mind - (1) disable requiring TLS, thus lowering security and (2) use a load balancer to offer a single virtual endpoint to be seen by Exchange Online, but put multiple Hub Transport boxes behind this (also being aware of the
    Caution entry
    here).
Is there another way this could be done ?

    Hi,
First, I recommend you check the articles below. We must ensure that the server meets the appropriate prerequisites and system requirements before we begin our installation.

Besides, I suggest you prep active directory and domain manually to check the result.

If the issue persists, in order to troubleshoot the issue more efficiently, I need to clarify some infomation:
    1. Are you installing Exchange 2007 into an existing 2003 organization?
    2. Did that server or computer object in AD have a prior version of Exchange on it? From the issue, it seems that you have an old Exchange server object still left in Active Directory.

  • Store Driver of Hub Transport server.

    Hi Team ,
I would like to know what is the "exe" name for Store driver of Hub transport Server which is responsible for putting messages to Submission Queue.

    Hi,
Store.exe is a process, it indicates that Exchange information store service is running.
The store driver is a software component of the Hub Transport Server that delivers inbound messages to Microsoft Exchange stores, the databases that contain public folder stores and mailbox stores. The store driver also retrieves messages from a user's outbox,
    and submits them for delivery.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

  • Adding new Hub Transport server in existing environment

    Hi everyone,
Currently we have 5 exchange servers 2010 :
    2 CAS Servers (Virtual)
2 MB and Hub Transport servers (Physical)
1 Edge server in DMZ. (Virtual)
Now I have added 2 more servers
with MB and Hub Tranport Roles (VIRTUAL) and want to configure the mail flow from these new transport servers.
Can anyone help with the steps I should follow. Please note we have 1 existing Edge server in 2010 and email flow should be from Hub Transport to Edge server then from Edge to internet.
Existing environment is working fine without any issues. Main reason to do this is to virtualize the physical servers. Mailbox DB already migrated to new servers.
    Thanks.
Manish Kumar MCSA, MCITP Enterprise Admin. MCTS Exchange server 2007, MCITP Virtualization Admin.

    Dear Manish
    Please find your answers below
For mail flow to happen through new hub transport I will make the new edge subscription from new HUB server
to Edge server. Is there any other changes I have to do ?
    No other changes is required
Create a new edge subscription and then import it and run start endge sync
So when I will do create the new edge subscription then it will delete the old send connectors and will
    create the new one?
IT will create old edge sync and create a new edge sync which will not make any impact on your config
Will there be any downtime while doing this activity ?
Better to do this on  after production hours since definitely there will be mail delay and may delay more  if you try this on production hours

  • Hub Transport Server Routing

    Hello All,
We have two AD sites consist of below. Exchange 2010 HT server @ Site 1 is routing mails to both Hub transport Servers @ Site 2. How do i enforce HT server @ site 1 to send all to 2010 HT server @ Site 2 without shutting down the 2007 HT.
    Site 1
    AD 2008 Server
    Exchange 2010 HT/CAS
    Exchange 2010 Mailbox
    Site 2
    AD 2008 Server
Exchange 2010 HT/CAS  -> Send Connector source server for external domain.
    Exchange 2010 Mailbox
    Exchange 2007 HT/CAS

There are by default hidden internal connectors between all the Hub Transport servers so emails can be routed out-of-the-box automatically to all parts of the mail infrastructure without any additional need for manual connectors. It would be good to turn
up logging on these hidden connectors by running the cmdlet below (source is
here, section "Use the Shell to enable or disable protocol logging on the intra-organization Send connector"). This will yield if indeed mails are routed from your 2010 HT in Site1 to the 2007 HT in Site2.
If all mailboxes are moved from 2007, what is the point of keeping that server online ? For manually blocking connections - or making it so that a connection to it is not selected you could either (1) change the default IP ranges the 2007 listens on as to
avoid the 2010 HT in the first site or (2) create a separate AD site specifically for the 2007 HT server's IP (this will increase the cost of the route from the 2010 HT in Site1, making it unattractive for delivering outside mails. However please note that
these 2 methods are overkill and it would be best to see the exact reason of still keeping the 2007 box.

  • Exchange 2010 hub-transport server

    i have 2 exchange 2010 hubtransport servers.
ideally when i send email my email should be load-balanced but emails send using hubcas1 goes fine and hubcas2 kepts in queues
suppose if i send at a time 5 mail
    3 emails go through hubcas1
2 emails stucks in queue in hubcas2

    Hi,
As you said you have added both the hub transport servers in the source server option of the send connector.Same time you have mentioned you don't have the smart host to deliver the emails to the internet and also the server hubcas2 can able to resolve the
external domain namespaces .Then do the following .
step 1 :Then please enable the protocol logging on the send connector to see the why the connections from the server hubcas2 is rejected to send emails to internet.
Step 2: Then do the outbound email test from EXRCA tool by using the ip address or name which is mapped on the MX record which belongs to the server hubcas2.
Please feel free to reply me if you have any queries .

  • Edge server not forwarding mail to Hub Transport server

I have an exchange 2010 VM with latest SP hosting around 500 mailboxes. I wanted to take some of the load off this box so I set up another box, loaded Exchange 2010 with the latest service pack and loaded the Edge Transport role on it. I ran the new-edgesubscription
cmdlet, copied the file to the HT server and created a new subscription. I have several sites in AD so I chose the site that corresponded to the IP address of the Exchange server. My problem is there is no mail passing between the servers. Here is what I have
    tried so far:
I can telnet to port 25 on both the HT and Edge servers, and port 50636 on edge server.
I can ping NetBIOS and DNS name of both machines from each other.
DNS suffix was added PRIOR to installing edge transport role.
Running get-edgesubscription on HT shows the Site being used, but on Edge site is blank, is this normal?
If I run start-edgesynchronization, I can see the data being replicated to the edge.
If I run test-edgesynchronization from HT, the status is Normal.
If I run get-exchangecertificate and look at the cert thumbprint on both boxes, they are different (from what I read they should be?)
Two Send connectors are created and they are both replicated to the edge, along with accepted domains.
Initially, when I created the subscription, I looked in event viewer on HT and saw Event ID 10104 and 1024, but running start-synchronization seemed to replicate so I thought it may be a one time error. This may be my issue. I have a 3rd party cert on my
HT server to accept mail and allow TLS to mail.mydomain.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to pull my hair out. I have reloaded this edge server twice trying to figure out what is going on.
    Jeff Green MCSA/MCSE 2003, MCITP 2008

OK, first off, I'm not sure that adding an Edge server is going to reduce any of the load on your mailbox server - all emails bound for your system are going to hit the mailbox server anyway, so unless you have huge amounts of spam and viruses bound for
your system, the savings will be negligible.
That being said, it's not a bad thing to deploy an Edge Server.  So let's see if we can figure out why yours isn't working as expected.  When you deployed the edge, did you follow all the steps in the following two articles?
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124011(v=exchg.141).aspx
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-install-edge-transport-server/
If you did follow the steps, do you now see the Edge Server in the list of Exchange servers in the EMC under Server Configuration (not one of its subnodes)?

  • Hub Transport Server is not in network load balancing

    Hi,
We have 2 HUB Servers which configured in different cluster IPs each(1.1.1.1 & 1.1.1.160), so there is no redundancy in HUB now. So do i need to uninstall  the NLB in HUB2 and re-install again or can i add in the existing NLB itself. Please suggest.

The hubs need to be in the same NLB array for redundancy.  From your posting, it appears you have two NLB arrays, each with one of your hubs.  Just add the second hub to the first hub's array and you should be good to go.  Oh, you don't
need to uninstall, but it's not going to hurt to kill the second NLB array - unless you plan to use it for something else.

  • How to migrate Exchange HUB transport 2007 server with Exchange Hub transport 2010.

    Hi,
How to migrate hub transport 2007 server with Exchange 2010 hub transport server.
    Regards
    Anil

    Hi Anil
You do not do an in-place upgrade of Exchange - you build new Exchange 2010 Hub Transport Servers, you can utilize existing hardware by uninstalling and installing Exchange 2010 - but you must have Hub Transport Servers that match the Exchange version in
place for all Mailbox Servers that have the same Exchange version.
Essentially there must be Exchange 2007 Hub Transport servers in place whilst there are Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers.
Read "Upgrading from Exchange 2007 Transport -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd346708%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx"
Exchange 2010 will synchronise certain configuration like Transport Rules and journaling when installing the first Exchange 2010 Hub Transport server, but from then on you must ensure synchronisation yourself.
Send Connectors and Recieve Connectors will need manual configuration.

  • Exchange server 2010 - Hub Transport rule not working

    Hello,
I'm trying to create a hub transport rule that blocks any incoming / outgoing email with attachments larger than 10MB with an exception of a few users.
    I've followed this article https://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/increasing-email-size-limits-for-your-high-profile-users-in-exchange-2010/.
The send connector & receive connector is at 30MB right now and the distribution group has been made.
I added myself to the distribution group which allowed me to send a 20MB size email.
If I remove myself from the distribution group, exchange still allowed me to send the 20MB email size.
    Any advise is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    Thanks for your response.
The Hub Transport server is responsible for handling transport rules. The transport rules can't work without a Hub server.

  • Is it possible to remove 2010 Hub Transport entirely in an Exchange 2013 environment?

I'm using Exchange 2010 Edge Transport in our organization that I've recently upgraded to Exchange 2013. I like Edge Transport - along with our spam filter it is an effective and simple way to send and receive external e-mail - and I don't want
to get rid of it.  But it seems like it needs a 2010 Hub Transport server to interact with.
Right now the only other Exchange 2010 Server I have left running in the organization is the one Hub Transport server that interacts with the Edge Server.  Is there a way to undeploy this server too and connect the Edge Server directly to one of the
2013 Mailbox Servers?  Or will this need to stay as part of the organization as a pair with Edge Transport?
I noticed mail flow was running just fine while the Hub Transport server was turned off.  So it seems like it's possible.  But I want to be able to undeploy it safely without hurting mail flow.  Are there any links or white papers that show
    how best do do this?
----------- Ron E Biggs Chief Tech Officer Entertainment Studios

Before you remove your HUB servers, make sure you re-subscribe the Edge server using the below steps:
    On Edge Server:
    New-EdgeSubscription -FileName "C:\EdgeSubscription.xml"
copy the file to one of the mailbox servers, and run:
    New-EdgeSubscription -FileData ([byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\EdgeSubscription.xml " -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0)) -Site
    "ADSITENAME"
once completed, most of the tasks to manage/test your Edge sync will be via PowerShell, please see the below link for more details:

  • EdgeSync service cannot connect to this subscription because of error "No EdgeSync credentials were found for Edge transport server

When checking Edge Synchronization on our Exchange 2010 HUB server (Test-EdgeSynchronization) I get SyncStatus "Failed".  I suspect this failed after we had moved all of our Exchange 2010 servers (Except the Edge server which not member
of any domain or site) to a new site.      In hopes to resolve this, I did the following:
Removed the Edge Subscription from our HUB server using the EMC.
Deleted the cert used by ADAM on our Exchange 2010 Edge server (using the Certificates MMC).
On the Exchange 2010 Edge server created a new Edge subscription file using: “New-EdgeSubscription –FileName "C:\EdgeSubscription20150424.XML"
Restarted the "Microsoft Exchange ADAM" service on our Edge server.
Copied the "EdgeSubscription20150424.XML" to our HUB server.  Then completed the New Edge subscription import on our HUB server using the MMC (specifying the AD site and location/name of the XML).
After this, I still get syncstatus failed on our HUB.   Thought to check the certificate using "Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL" but that results in:  "Get-ExchangeCertificate : The Exchange Certificate operation has failed
with an exception.  The error message is: Access is denied".   I tried to create a new certificate on our HUB serve using "New-ExchangeCertificate", but get the exact same "Access is denied" error message
    again.
I believe we never noticed that the Edge sync wasn't working because we only use our Edge server when our hardware email filter fails (Symantec Message Gateway).  Our Edge server has a lower priority in our MX record and lower priority in our send connectors
on our HUB servers.  The Edge server though does receive email from internal email relay from some servers for notifications.  These do get delivered unless the user mailbox is new (suspect ADAM isn't updating - that's why I started looking into
    this).
This should be simple!   What am I missing???   Thanks in advance for any feedback.
PS - this is my first posting here.... I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum or category.  :)

    Hi PongoDog,
    Thank you for your question.
By your description, we could refer to the following steps to check if issue persist:
    Remove all  hub servers certificate
Create a new hub server certificate with command "New-ExchangeCertificate"
Remove the edge subscription on hub & edge server
Recreate sync subscription and import it on hub server.
If the issue persist, we could Check network connectivity between the Hub Transport server and Active Directory. Use Ping to isolate network hardware problems and incompatible configurations. Use PathPing to detect packet loss over multiple-hop trips. then
run dcdiag /s:<Domain Controller Name> at a command prompt on the Exchange Server. Use the output of Dcdiag to discover the root cause of any failures or warnings that it reports. Finally Rreview the Application log for MSExchangeADAccess and MSExchange
Topology events that could provide more information about the root cause of this event and post Event ID to
    [email protected] for our troubleshooting.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

    Hi Guitar,
    Thank you for your question.
Is it possible to install within the DMZ of AD Domain1
an Edge Transport Server - Exchange 2013?
A: Yes, we could create an Exchange 2013 Edge server on the DMZ of AD domain1.
Notice: Before we create an EdgeSync Subscription between an Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server and an Exchange 2013 SP1 Edge Transport server, we need to install Exchange 2007 SP3

  • Keep exchange 2007 Hub transport & CAS during migration to Exchange 2010

    Hello,
during a migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 is it supported to keep the old exchange 2007HUB and CAS in charge of the outside mail flow (send/receive) and OWA service.
    Here is the scenario :
    Actual OWA url : https : // webmail . compagnie . com  (2007)
    Future OWA url : https : // owa . compagnie . com 2010)
Keep the old url accessible for the users which have not be migrated to the new exchange 2010 MBX server.
Indicate to the migrated users to use the new url instead of the old one.
Keep the old hub transport server (2007) handle the mail flow (send/receive) to the outside.
At the end, when all the users will be migrated, configure the new 2010 Hub/cas to handle the mail flow (send/receive) to the outside.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
    David

    Thanks for your answers.
So if I have understood right, the only thing I have to take care about (in order to let the 2007 cas/hub server handle the external mail flow (on which the MX is bind) until all mailboxes are migrated) is to add the 2010 cas/hub server in :
Organization Configuration ---> send connector ---> Actual 2007 send connector --> Source server
    Thanks a lot.
    David
