HUD disappeared (Ap 2)

Any ideas why the HUD doesn't appear even when the menu implies it is visible (i.e. it shows "Hide inspector HUD")?
The other HUDs work fine.

Have you ever used aperture in a 2 screen setup?, it's quite possible the hud is moved over to the 2nd screen which you may not have switched on. Well.....at least that's what happened to me

Missing inspector HUD!?

I've been using the trial version for the past few days without issue. After installing my serial number tonight and doing the software update, every time i go into fullscreen mode and press H, my inspector hud disappears. If i reboot, it comes back at first(minimized) but as soon as i go into fullscreen mode again, it vanishes. Am i doing something wrong? Do i need to reinstall? This is getting frustrating and it never happened until tonight.

this issue appears periodically and the solution for me has been to restart aperture. sigh. as with all other aperture 3 issues i've experienced.
i've been an aperture user since v1.5.
i must say this... with all the crashes, hangs, bugs, and other strange behaviour that i've been experiencing with aperture 3, it's my firm belief that this is quite possibly the most poorly qa'd software that i've ever used from a large software house. i've come to expect this from ms and windows titles, but this really is at the top of my worst experiences.

AC5 Unity COOP Campaign issues

Today for example, I was invited to a COOP campaign and when it loaded I could move but I had no control over the fighting. I.e. I could not fight with my sword and it made me out to be an incompetent gamer when IU am not… therefore, I just gave up… The thing that annoys me the most is that Ubisoft made a hash of AC5U and although they fixed the bugs… it looks as though they washed their hands with the COOP 4 Players and 2 Player levels because they are so buggy. I am not being rude by cancelling my COOP 2 or 4 player campaigns. It’s so corrupt sometime I just give in because it is unplayable.

All up to date with the latest patch... it's not my connection neither because I have a cable modem nor the levels as they are within normal parameters. Another problem that I get is the entire HUD goes completely and I have to go into Options>HUD and then set everything back to show...? Sometimes when a COOP starts I can move but I cannot fight which is pointless in a 2 player or even 4 player COOP match. Since I updated the firmware (which incidentally should effect the performance of a game) AC5U has been terrible to play. All other games are fine just this one. It could be a corruption within the game itself. It crashed in the middle of a 4 player Coop yesterday which it hasn’t done before. I have only been playing the game for about 3 and a half weeks or so.

Keyword HUD has disappeared

Whilst using App 3 the Keyword HUD seems to have disappeared. The Window dropdown toggles between show and hide the HUD but is not visable. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Have you rebooted? The HUD is likely lost on another "space" or otherwise off the screen. Rebooting should bring back any lost windows.

Disappearing Images

I am sitting here editing through a project. I have done a once-over and marked my general selects with one star and rejects with an X. I have created a Smart Album set as "rating is greater than or equal to 1 star". That seems to work fine. However, when I go back to view all of my images, many of those marked with one star do not appear. What's the deal? I have tried quitting and restarting the app and no luck. Obviously the images are still there because they show up in my Smart Album.
The Query HUD is set to "Showing All" so that is not the problem. I have already discovered and corrected a problem with this. It seems the default for the Query HUD is "rating is greater than or equal to unrated" ("Unrated or Better"). This causes images marked with an X to disappear, which has caused other problems. I have not found a way to change this default and it seems to be set to this for each project.
Along these lines, I have another question. Why does the Query HUD default to "Unrated or Better" each time a new Smart Album is created? This happens even if the settings in the Smart Album is "Rating is X" (for those times when I want to find my rejects), which results in these two settings cancelling each other out and showing no images. This doesn't seem to make much sense. It seems like the default for the Query HUD should be "Showing All" when a Smart Album is created.

This is not true. If this was true, only one image per stack would show up no matter what.
I think what you might be referring to is the option, when creating a Smart Album, of checking the box that says "Ignore stack groupings". I have done this in my Smart Albums and it seems to work. However, my problem is not with the Smart Albums, it is when I just want to view the entire contents of my project. The way to filter the entire project is done with the Query HUD. I have the Query HUD set to "Showing All". In other words, there are no settings selected. The Query HUD does not even have this optional check box to "Ignore stack groupings" (which has been suggested is needed in other threads in this forum). However, it is irrelevant here since I have no settings selected in the Query HUD and I am just trying to view all of my images.

HUD Color Picker

the HUD color picker is pretty useful, but it's buried under a complicated shortcut (shift+alt+ctrl+right button) all held down at the same time. When all buttons are released, the color picker disappears.
Here's my question: when the picker is visible, the saturation and value automatically change as you simply hover the cursor anywhere within the 'square' portion of its window. (The color ring is on the outer edges, and I'll get to that). You don't need to click on the picker to choose a new saturation or value; you only need to hover ontop of the new saturation/value and then release the buttons when you're ontop of the saturation/value that you'd like to select. As you hover within the window, the saturation/value is automatically updating in real time depending on what location your cursor is ontop of within the square portion of the window. But the problem is that when the picker first becomes visible, the cursor is automatically placed directly in the center of its window. So when you hover the cursor to the outer edges where the color ring is (in order to shift the hue), it is also shifting the saturation/value as you pull the cursor from the center of the HUD window over to the ring on the outside. Hope this makes sense.

well, I've managed to re-map the entire process since starting this thread (using AutoHotKey). Here's what I do now:
hold down 'b' on the keyboard (hold it down, not press+release) and the standard photoshop color picker window appears. I can now choose my color, hue, and saturation (as normal). No worrying about values or saturations shifting; this is the default color picker window.
then, release 'b' and the color picker window disappears. This is essentially *identical* to the HUD color picker function, except that there are 2 improvements:
-you no longer need to press 4 keys to get it to appear (shift+ctrl+alt+right button) - you only need to hold down 'b' on the keyboard
-when you release 'b', the color picker window disappears, exactly the same way the the HUD color picker does.
The only drawback I would suppose, is that's it's a fraction slower - not *quite* as fast as the HUD color picker, but that would be nitpicking. Still works fast, and great.
But with the HUD color picker, I would still like to know if there's a way to keep the same sat/value while only shifting the hue... i find it hard to believe that Adobe implemented this HUD color wheel with such a major flaw... I'm thinking it's got to be something I'm doing wrong

Spacebar-alt to have auto pop auto collapse HUD of tool relevant adjustment sliders

spacebar allows me to drag the document around, right next to it, as an option I`d like to see spacebar-alt for an instant pop up dialogue or heads up display, over the mouse for tool specific adjustments, (right now its "enter")
but I`d like to see it as "auto collapse", so as soon as I let go of alt and just use the spacebar to move the image around the pop up with sliders disappears,
the pop would have sliders for dynamic update to stroke size, transparency, lightmode, all as dynamic live update sliders except for lightmodes (drop down) on the popup, for pencil, brushes, erasor,
for warp tools, individual stroke size, pressure and angle sliders, intensity, detail, simplify,
For symbols, diameter, intensity, symbol set density sliders.
why I like it
more intuitive, speed up and increase work "FLOW" and focus as its all right there at where your focusing and working.
not having to open dialogues and click drop downs or enter numbers.
the pop up HUD would be semi transparent except for the sliders and number values to see the dynamic live update results below of the selected object.
also a check box option on the pop up for live update of selected object or objects below, or not update selected object

pencil tool is something I use a LOT for obvious reasons, but pressing enter to open the dialogue box takes me away from my visualization and flow, its like slowing down for a road bump.
with the HUD using spacebar alt, it would be provide a smoother non intrusive adjustment to settings for my user experience, as I use the pen tablet and the space bar on the keyboard to pan around, so my hand is already on the spacebar, just using my "pinky" little finger with "alt" and other on spacebar can activate HUD and adjust fidelity, smoothness and "edit selected paths", I use these 3 a LOT when drawing depending on what phase of the drawing I`m in and what part, what kind of lines I am creating... would make the drawing experience less "start stop" and feel more just gliding as I make adjustments with alt spacebar to settings.
if you have used Zbrush from pixologic you will know what I mean by adjusting tools with HUD pop up sliders, and theirs doesnt seem to bring the computer to a grinding halt like when I use the colour picker HUD in photoshop with openGL..

HUD Display (edge sharpening)

I frequently use the edge sharpening controls. I would like to know if there is a way to keep these controls permanently in the HUD display, along with other frequently used controls such as exposure, contrast, white balance, etc. Unlike the regular sharpening adjustment, I have to select edge sharpening from the HUD drop down menu each time I want to use it. As soon as I move on to another image, it disappears from my HUD window. There must be a way to select frequently used adjustments in the HUD window permanently isn't there? I can't figure out how to do it. I am NOT talking about saving presets. I understand how to do that. This would be a big timesaver.

Steve- I can't thank you enough. This has been bugging me for ages. I just never got around to researching it on the discussion boards til now. I am a bit technically challenged When I opened the AdjustmentsDefaulsts.plist it was opening by default with OmniOutliner. After reading the old threads on this topic I see someone else had the same problem. I went back and opened it with Text Edit and added RKProSharpenOperation to the list and voila! Upon re-launching Aperture the edge sharpen adjustment is permanently in my HUD. To anyone else reading this, you must make sure to enter it EXACTLY the same as the other items on the list, in other words like this:
<string>RKProSharpenOperation</string> The first time I tried I left out the forward slash in the second <string> and it didn't work.

Acrobat Pro Ver 9 for Win 7 the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Document etc) Disappears when I move the Window

Lately in Acrobat Pro Ver 9 for Win 7 the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Document etc) disappears when I move the window . . only happens when I have a pdf file open . . everything worked fine until a few days ago . . F9 fixes the problem until I move the window again . . I realize my version is old so I tried tried downloading XI reader and having the same issue . . any help would be appreciated

Check if you have multiple Java versions installed on your computer.
Try clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Also i would suggest uninstall security software and install it back.
Currently you may use F9 key to restore Menu bar.

Downloads disappear from folder

I have downloaded some music and when it has completed the task, the download file disappears. Hasn't done this before, files always remain in download folder.

Launch Finder.
Finder > File > Find
When the Finder window opens up, enter the name of the music file in the search box at the top right corner.
It will show up in the Finder under “Name”.
Right click on it and select “Reveal in Finder” from contextual menu.
The resulting Finder window will show the location.

On Screen Keyboard Glitch in Tablet Mode - On Screen Keyboard minimizes / disappears / slides down

Hi there -
New Yoga owner here ( just bought it yesterday) and within minutes of setting the computer up I noticed that the on screen keyboard was malfunctioning when the yoga is in tablet mode. Specifically, it pops up for about a second and then, without me touching or clicking or doing anything, it quickly slides back down. repeated attempts to bring up the keyboard end up, frustratingly, with the same result. what is perplexing to me is the on screen keyboard works fine in laptop mode (when I need it least).
Someone else already started a post on this BUT it was marked as 'solved' (which it wasn't) so I figured I'd start new thread. The solution on the previous thread was to simply 'refresh' windows to get rid of any new drivers that were downloaded since purchasing the yoga, but I did not download or update anything prior to this problem arising (as I said, the problem seemed to occur within a few minutes of turning the machine on for the first time). In any case, I tried the refresh and it did not work so clearly my problem is not that I downloaded an incompatible or faulty driver. Please Help! I love this machine and I'm trying to see past the other flaws I've noticed so far (subtle screen flickering, inconsistent touch sensitivity etc), but this issue is starting to really undermine my confidence in the product quality and, from a productivity standpoint, it is a real deal breaker to not have full tablet functionality.

I had the same problem with the disappearing virtual keyboard within hours of starting to use my new Yoga 13. I read somewhere that it was a problem with an incompatible Synaptics driver, and when I looked in the control panel, it showed that the Synaptics driver had been updated on my Yoga as of the day I bought it. I think somehow by agreeing to automatic updates of the software, the Synaptics driver is updated to an incompatible version. So what I did was I removed the Synaptics driver, using the Windows program uninstaller tool, rebooted, and then found the Synaptics driver at the Lenovo site which is specifically labelled as the Yoga 13 driver. I installed that, and the keyboard is now working fine.

Text Wrap Options have Disappeared ID CS4

All the icons in my Text Wrap window have disappeared. The tab/pallet is still there, but empty. The pop out still lists “Show Options” and “Apply to Master Page Only” are still there, but grayed out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Itunes won't open...bounces and disappears. Here is crash log.

When I attempt to click on itunes, it appears on the dock, bounces, and disappears. This also occurs with the "help" application. Can anyone help? Here is the crash log, but b/c it is so large it is pasted here with only the first ever crash and the most recent.

Looks like your webkit framwork is broken, or is now broken in relation to iTunes. Calls and classes may have changed since version 7.1, which is what you are using. Try updating to the latest version of iTunes and see if this fixes it.

When I open up my emails and close them, they disappear and I cannot find them. Where are they going? Is there a setting that I have to change?

The internet was working fine til 10:31am philippine time. Was downloading OSX Lion, at that time it was somewhere half. Then all of a sudden internet failed and lost connection. Called my ISP immediately and was told it would take 24-48hours for the service to be restored. THen after ending the call the OSx Lion icon disappeared. I dont know what to do. Im not techie at all. Please guys. HELP ME>
