[HUGE BUG] Z87-G43 After 1.50 bios update

Hi, i was used to the 1.30 bios and had no problem at all.
But Live Update 5 told me there is a new bios update: 1.50, i couldn't resist to *upgrade* :(
Now i can boot my computer 1 time every 10, the others seems like i have some huge problem with the UEFI.
I normally boot with UEFI SSD (Samsung 840 PRO 128gb) with GPT partition and all with Msi Fast Boot enabled, now i'm scared to turn msi fast boot on! If i can't reach windows to disable msi fast boot i can't reach the bios too.
When i turn on the computer it ends up in one of those possible scenarios:
- UEFI Shell listing some of the devices
- UEFI Shell listing all the devices
- A try to load from SSD without UEFI resulting in "MS-DOS like" error "Boot disk not present"
- Windows Boot loader loads and tell me he can't reach the Disk. Hitting reply *some* times (sometime 1, sometime 2, sometime 3) result in proper OS boot
- Windows Boots correctly
This is totally random, when i enter the bios *SOMETIMES* i can see the UEFI HD icon blue (so it can find it), and *SOMETIMES* its grayed.
Do i have a way to rever to 1.30 bios? Or is a fixed version of the 1.50 bios coming? Now i know that if i power off my pc i don't know when i can power on it again :\
If needed i can post a video of that (hoping to reach windows again)
2 more info:
1) i always have the windows watermark "SecureBoot is not configured correctly", but i had it from before the bios upgrade
2) the bios updater crashed after the *windows reset* input, so i had the "Restarting" screen in full screen and i saw for some second that crash alert

hi, i resetted cmos and leaved only the ram in slot 2.
Maybe it's just luck but now i can boot to windows a little more easily!
Here what happened after the cmos reset:
Boot #
Result
1
Bios alerted me about the CMOS reset, i pressed continue and i got the "ms-dos like" error "boot disc error or not present". Rebooted, and the bios says the first device is the UEFI HD, so i have no idea what's going on
2
Boot to windows
3
Efi Shell with full list of devices
4-10
Boot to Windows correctly
After this i did a manual shutdown and i had 2 boot to full list Efi shell.
Another shutdown and i goes to windows recovery utility.
Another shutdown and windows booted up correctly 2 times
and.. now.. i'm here

  • MSI z87 G43 OC GENIE ISSUE/Bios UPDATE

Hi Everyone, This is my First time posting to the forums.
Here Are my System Specs Before I post the question
    Motherboard: msi z87 g43
CPU: intel core i7 4770k (haswell)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Ram ddr3 clocked at 1333mhz, 16gb, using 4 4gb sticks.
    GPU: evga gtx 770 nvidia
PSU: Bronze certified psu at around 850 watt.
CPU COOLER: is a standard corsair single radiator water cooler
    QUESTION/PROBLEM:
Ive had this computer built for about a year (basically right when the gtx 770 released). I have no problems with the device and it works perfectly. The motherboard however is where my problems starts to arise. I tried my hand at overclocking but ended up with a blue screen after some stress testing and just set my values back to default. But since then I really havent tried anything new with it. However, I noticed OC genie and I thought hey maybe Ill try this out for a chance. So I boot up and go into the bios set up (all values are default) and press the oc genie. As soon as the screen flashed back up I get a black screen and can not post. The only way to actaully fix this is to reset my CMOS which luckily I know how to do. But the black screen displayed also had a number letter combo at the bottom. It displayed 9C at the bottom in white. But when I get a successfull boot into the bios right beofre the bios logo I get a black screen with A2. But the A2 appears in every boot. Now heres where things get funky. I have a logitech Camera I use primarily for skype. When I have the device plugged in before the computer is booted. When I try to boot I get the black screen with the 9C, but when I unplug and reboot, I get the A2 and I get into my OS.
Now I tried overclocking again at 46 multiplyer with a 1.2v but When I did I get text saying its not successfull and resets my bios info, (which is cool considering oc genie didnt do this it just corrupts my CMOS).
So you must all be asking what version of the bios I have and the answer is 1.0....
Now I know there is a 1.9 and even a 1.A version which came out this year in 2014
The problem with this however is I know the dangers of flashing my bios and it can really screw up my mobo as in brick the darn thing. But from what I read, Live update form msi does not work and I shouldnt use it. But Is flashing the bios via the bios set up where there is a section specifically for flashing safe to do? With the oc genie not working im scared to try flashing my bios via the bios setup if that makes any sense
To wrap it up, is it a problem with my mobo, do I need to update my bios to fix it? If yes then what is the safest way of doing it since ive never done a bios update before (but i get the concept put the up date on a FAT 32 load it from it in the bios set up option let it do its thing and boom ) .

The method above does NOT apply to your board. Either use MFlash (bios + ME option) or use the below:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7816IMS_1A0.rar.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows:  http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip

  • Thinkpad E440 can't use wireless after 2.07 BIOS Update

Hi all, I need some help. I just bought a new thinkpad edge e440-Q01 last sturday. After I installed Win 7 ultimate 64 Bit, all the driver, everything work fine, i can connect to the internet, start working etc.
Then I update the BIOS, first it was 1.61 version then I upated my BIOS using BIOS utility for win 7 (downloaded from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page). After that i can't connect to the interter via wireless LAN. It was said that I need to turn on the "hardware radio switch", both intel wireless utility and thinkvantage connection utility says i need to switch the wireless on, but, i can't find the hardware switch for wireless on thinkpad edge e440.
I try to push F8 button, as there is a symbol of wireless LAN, but nothing happens.
Then when I open the device manager, there is lenovo connect 1.0 device and i can't find it's driver, so it remain as unknown device.
I try to reinstall the windows, but now i don't have bluetooth to.
Other driver such as GT740, Ethernet, chipset, usb, etc are working just fine.
    Anyone can help?

just for addition, lenovo bios update utility have 2 option task. to update bios and model number. ican update the bios but not the model number.

  • X1 carbon 20A7 won't boot after 1.13 BIOS update, ecreen also corrupted.

After updating the BIOS to 1.13 the X1 refuses to boot . After several attempts to diagnose the problem (trying to boot under legacy and uefi with various rescue pen drives) I doing a restore with the recovery media (created using the inbuilt software) but that didn't help, it just wiped my partitions and reinstalled windows (I'm assuming since I have no way to check at this point) but still refuses to boot. I can boot the windows rescue thumb drive under legacy though. After the update the screen was also corrupted, picture here http://i.imgur.com/ScfD1Uz.jpg.
At this point I'm not sure what to do anymore, it seems that the BIOS update failed in some way or somehow broke something.

this seems to have caused uneven lighting in the LED display, very strange problem. You may need to get warranty service on it.

  • Hp Bios Update loop after successful(?) bios update

So i tried to update bios through windows first, system hung and then my laptop wouldnt turn on with the battery on. I removed the battery, entered windows and tried again to update bios, but this time i got a fail message. I entered the bios update utility pressing win+B, flashed the latest bios using a usb stick, all seemed well until i tried to reboot. Caps lock blinks twice, bios updates fine from usb flash and same goes over again and again. "Hidden" bios on the hdd's efi partition seems damaged cause bios doesnt update from there, only through usb.  Any ideas?

, Hello and thank for posting on the HP support forums.  Generally unless you are having a huge issue with your hardware you do not want to play with your BIOS unless you have a tun of experience on dealing with a big OOPS!   The good news is there are a few articles on the HP support sight here to help you out. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS Consumer Notebooks and Windows 8 - Overview of BIOS updates Not every system is the same so before you try and update anything as important as a BIOS call before you dig or at least check out the documentation so that you do not end up with a massive crash that you can not recover from outside of replacing the motherboard. I hope the links help and if not here is the link so you can contact HP Support for repair options. Contact HP Support Please let me know how things go. Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • No POST, Blank Screen after messed up BIOS update

So I was downloading an update to the BIOS and during installation it was shut down (don't ask, I am still mad). So when I tried to reboot I am getting nothing. No POST or anything else on the screen. I have searched my place for a bootable CD or anything but I cannot find it. I am thinking the BIOS is corrupt as it was shut down during the installation of the BIOS update. I have searched to create a bootable disk but am not sure if that will do. I guess I am looking for a way to flash the BIOS but it's difficult when you can't even get into the setup screen.
    I have a L305-S5919 running Vista.
    Thanks for any responses,
    -Paul

  • Yoga 13 in stolen mode after attempting a BIOS update

I recently bought a used Lenovo Yoga 13 from Lenovo's Outlet site.
I went through the first time setup and I'm trying to update the latest BIOS "66cn55ww_x64_en.exe." As soon as I run the .bat file, it comes up with an error "The system is in stolen mode, bios upgrade aborted"
Upon further research, it appears the previous owner or company registered  the laptop with Computrace / Absolute lo jack. If there is no internet conectivity with the laptop after xx amount of days, I believe the laptop is put into this stolen mode? I tried to register the laptop with the Absolute software and it said the code was already redeemed and that previous owner has to login and remove the system from the account.
I'm assuming this is something that has to be returned back to Lenovo to fix? If that is the case, I'm just going to ask for a refund...

  • After v1.90 BIOS update Satellite Pro A300-1EA wont boot up

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.
It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(
    Thanks for any replies.

Please don't be mad on me but I think you really didn't read users manuals you got with your notebook. There is exactly described how you can have factory settings again.
So, now you are 100% sure that recovery image is not on the HDD but you don't know how to have factory settings again. Strange.
Remove battery, connect AC adapter only and disconnect all attached external devices.
Start your notebook and enter BIOS settings. Set it to default settings and try to start OS again.
    What happen exactly?

Now my fan always runs at maximum, It never ideals.

I have alsow tested with the latest intel chipset divers and Nvidia driver and it is still the same.
So my conclution is the BIOS, does Toshiba know anything about this issue and working on a newer bios?
    Kind Regards Ismael

Everything points that the BIOS 4.10 is the common issue to the always high speed of the graphical fan even when the laptob is in standby mode.
I want to see some action like a new revise of the BIOS 4.10!

    Intel Q6600 Quadcore CPU

I just updated to the lastest BIOS version 1.3.  However, ever since making that update, I have been unable to adjust any voltage in my BIOS.  They are all locked in Auto and greyed out.  Is there anything I can do to unlock my voltage settings so I manually configure them again?

  • Z87-G43 won't boot from Windows 8.1 64-bit DVD UEFI

    Hello,
I recently purchased a Z87-G43. I have just updated it to the 1.7 firmware (I was having no end of strange issues with the 1.6 firmware that came on the board, the BIOS menu items would disappear, but that seems to have been resolved with the update to 1.7).
Regardless, I am unable to boot from a 64-bit Windows 8.1 DVD in UEFI mode. The disc will boot fine in UEFI+Legacy mode, but I would like to use only UEFI mode if possible.
I have verified that the system will boot from a UEFI CD by using the GParted live CD.
Is this a known issue with this mainboard?
    Board: Z87-G43
    Bios: 1.7
    VGA: MSI R7 260X
PSU: Powerman 500W (don't know the rails at the moment)
    CPU: Intel Core-i5 4670
    MEM: Corsair 1333 2x8 GB CMV16GX3M2A1333C9
HDD: Kingston SSD 120 GB, WD Green 2 TB
    OS: None

Set the board to Legacy & UEFI
It should work then. If you are trying to do a UEFI installation, with SOME Optical devices it wont work. I usualy transfer all of the install files to  USB stick along with the most recent drivers. The install is faster and drivers are already there for you.
