Huge cube size difference between version 7.1 and 11.1

Hello All,
We are migrating from version 7.1 to 11.1. We did a full data export of each cube on 7.1 and did a server load on 11.1. We found that all the cubes on the new 11.1 server are almost 50% in size compare to same cube on 7.1 server. We did a detailed drill through and found that the there isn't any data loss on the cubes on the latest server. Please let us know if this smaller cube size is normal or did we miss something somewhere? I appreciate your comments!!!

Your cube was probably really fragmented and reloading all the data will have reduced the fragmentationYup. You can prove this by taking those export files and recreating the database on your 7.1.x server. I'll bet you find the same thing.
Take a gander at this post re fragmentation.
I'd add to that posting that MaxL's force restructure is another way to defrag a database; I personally like the flat file export as I can be reasonably sure backup software won't choke on a flat file.

1. 4.7 is on R/3 platform, while ECC 5.0 is on mySAP ERP 2004
2. ECC 5.0 is having ESA(enterprise Serviceoriented Architecture)

I'm not sure if any of this is in your 4.7 version, but I know it wasn't available in our 4.6C before we upgraded and we have found the following extremely helpful in ECC 6.0:
1. The new ABAP Debugger - Search SDN and you'll probably find a bunch of info on these enhancements
2. The Enhancement Framework - this is a great new framework allowing enhancements to standard SAP programs without having to use "core Mods". Had we known about it prior to our upgrade, we could have probably eliminated 75% or so of our custom Z Programs which are copies of standard SAP code and 100% of our core mods (of which we only have a handful)
3. Code Inspector and more importantly the ability to turn it on to automatically run when releasing a transport.
4. The ABAP workbench has changed a bit with a new editor including some minimal code completion.
5. Automatic generation of services from any remote enabled function module.
These are just a few of the things that I've found helpful in an upgraded environment.

File size difference between version 3 and 4

I'd like to know how to publish a file at the smallest possible size with Captivate 4.
I have 1 file that is 9176KB published with Captivate 3. The same file published with Captivate 4 becomes 10300KB. I didn't add any functionality just publish it once saved in 4.
What is the same content ~1MB bigger with the new version? How do I make it smaller?

Thanks for the hint! It did make me revisit those files and now I see the reason for the small file sizes: The Apple Finder does note update the file size view once a file was added to a folder. Here's what I did:
Opened a folder full of .NEFs in detail view in Finder.
Converted them using DNG Converter
Looked at the sizes of the files as they were shown in the Finder window allready open.
Unfortunately, those file sizes are not correct. If I open a new Finder window of the same folder, file sizes are correctly reported as between 3.5 and 5 MB.

Huge Folder size discrepancy between 10.1 Managed and 10.0.9

I sure do Hope that someone can help me out with this.
I don't want to make any mistakes that would result in Data loss.
I have all my media for a large project I am working on on a Drobo 5D.
The Drobo has a total Max usable space of 16TB.
When FCPX 10.1 came out I upgraded and "saved" my old library. (Just in case)
Once the "upgrade" was complete there were two different directories on my DROBO there was:
"DROBO Old Final Cut Projects and Events" (which has a "normal" folder structure) &
"DROBO Final Cut Projects and Events" (which had the "contained / managed structure)
Shortly after I "upgraded" something happened and all my subtitles (all of the footage was subtitled... all 300 hrs) disappeared...
After about 3 hrs of freaking out I quickly discovered that the subs and all my old project files were still ok in the old (just in case) directory and all I needed to do to keep working was go back to use 10.0.9 which is what I have been doing.
However Now I have very little space on my DROBO and I want to get rid of the "newer" and unused "DROBO Final Cut Projects and Events" folder (which now shows up as a normal folder / directory as I no longer have 10.1 installed)
And here comes the QUESTION:
The numbers don't add up.... the new Folder (the one I want to DELETE for 10.1) claims a size of 8.06TB (on "10.1 FCP P&E")
and the old folder that I want to SAVE claims a Size of 10.79TB (on "old FCP P&E").
In addition to those folders I have an additional 3.5TB of other files outside of those directories...
OK so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the "used" space on my Drobo according to my finder is 22.35TB which is already impossibly large as I simply do not have that space on the drive... So when I look into the new directory (the one I want to delete) all the files appear to be "real" and not aliases which was the first thing I thought may be the issue (something funny where it was counting the file twice...)
Anyway I just really want to DELETE that "new 10.1" directory however not at the cost of messing up my perfectly good 10.0.9 workflow.
Please advise.

When updating from FCP X 10.0.x to 10.1.x The process uses what is termed "Hard Links" as opposed to Alias or shortcuts.
This means your Mac sees files of the old FCP X and the new version of FCP X as real files and hence what appears to be doubling up of space.
You have two different versions of FCP X pointing to the same hard files.
At some stage of the updating one set of FCP X files will be deleted making the numbers balance regarding space.

Watch all three sections, even twice, if you did not get it the first time to avoid simple pitfalls.
Backup you stuff before proceeding as the new FCP X will be 10.1.4.
The new version does NOT use the Projects and Events structure any longer, it has changed. See link above.

Yes, the original iPad had a slightly different form factor than iPad 2 through iPad 4. iPad Air again changed the form factor.

File size differences between Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat 8.0

We have a system where we incorporate .pdf files into word documents. When we use v8.0 the .pdf files suddenly become very much larger (e.g. the word document containing the v5.0 PDFs, around 29 of them, is 1,224kb but is 2,376kb when we use v8.0 PDFs). The .PDF's are created by printing to PDF995 and then using Acrobat to open them, select a section of the page, and copy/paste them into the Word document.
Has anyone come across this before and, if so, how do we tune v8.0?

Thank you for the quick response. We are able to get some results through the Optimizer however they are not the same. Also we would like to keep from adding an extra step into the process. Especially a step that adds a lot of time to the process as the Optimizer does. In versions 7 and 8 we did not have run the Optimizer (we also did not have to do this in version 5 back in the day). Why would 9 have to add this step? I am really looking for a way to keep the same workflow steps. -Dan

What are the difference between version 1.0016 and 1.1.13

i have a Wrvs4400n gigbit wireless router. the firmware version is 1.0016. i try to upgrade to 1.1.13 but its not accepting the up grade.
Also ip signature version is 1.25.

The first thing I would check is the hardware version of your router. There are 3 hardware versions for this router: v1, v1.1, v2. (The hardware version can be found on the label on bottom of the router.)
For version 2, there are no firmware updates available, as it already has the newest firmware version loaded.
For versions 1, and 1.1, their are two firmware updates listed on the website. (v1.1.03, and v1.1.13) If you have v1 or v1.1 of the hardware, and are having problems upgrading, I would suggest trying to upgrade to v1.1.03 first, then trying v1.1.13 after you have upgraded to the previous version.

Difference between ECC 6.0 and earlier versions

Hi,
one of the difference between ECC 6.0 and earlier versions is that instead 'WS_UPLOAD' and 'WS_DOWNLOAD' in ECC we should use 'GUI_UPLOAD' and 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' respectively.
(of course SPDD and SPRO tcodes is known by everone i suppose)
Similarly can u all put down some differences here, atleast one entry by each, I think we can make a good docu. I have searched the net for the differences but could not get much, so by each of us contributing one each, it would become good docu..for all of us.
