HUGE difference in battery time since 3.0

Title pretty much says it all. I'm not using the iPhone anymore than in previous times, but I've only got like a little over half the time. Hope they update soon since there is no way that I know of to go back to previous versions of iPhone software.

Just thought that I would update this problem for any/all that might be experiencing the same thing.
I recently received a replacement iPhone that seems to have taken care of the battery problem I was having. Prior to receiving the replacement, I couldn't even go a full day without having to plug in the iPhone to charge it. My normal use wasn't much of anything either, so it wasn't that. In fact, I'm now using it the exact same way and I've had it unplugged for 2 days now (with normal use) and I still have over half the battery charge left. This could be related to 3.0 and SOME iPhones, and maybe it's not, but I do know that BOTH the email problem and the battery problem started at the EXACT same time, after updating to 3.0 firmware.

  • HUGE difference in render times

I'm running AE CS5.5 and created a 12 second animation. I made one small change, but the rendering time has gone from less than a minute to over half an hour and I'm hoping someone can give me an idea why.
Here's what I changed: The phrase "What's Your Value?" to "Where's Our Value?" It's just text, not a graphic, with a fade animation (which is the same as the first version).
That's it. Everything else is the same. I'm saving it as a H.264 file to the same location on my hard drive. The only other difference is that I rendered the first version yesterday.
    Thanks

Without watching over your shoulder or knowing your level of experience, we're just speculating. There are only a few factors that affect rendring speed out of After Effects and your project may not actually have any of them, I can't tell from here; they may be system or drive related or you might have unknowingly cached 99% of the original so all AE had to do was encode from frame-based to compressed codecs.
You're only going to know if you run some simple, but tedious, experiments.

  • Huge difference in Execution time in same Query with different Parameter

    Hi Experts,
We are facing an unique problem once we are executing the query in HANA SQL prompt. This Query was generated from BObj and executing in HANA system. Once this query running with following condition, it is taking almost 7-00 minute to execute and returning around 924 rows.
    << WHERE
    Table__1."LOGSYS"  IN  ('RKGCLNT102')
    AND
    Table__1."CompanyCode"  IN  ('7240','7245')
    AND
    Table__1."Plant"  IN ……………… >
However if we run the same query with some different plant, It is taking only 2 second. Please find the Query here.
    << WHERE
    Table__1."LOGSYS"  IN  ('RKGCLNT102')
    AND
    Table__1."CompanyCode"  IN  ('7245','7600')
    AND
    Table__1."Plant"  IN ……………… >
This is really an unexpected behavior and we are not able to get the actual reason why it is behaving like this.
Could anyone please help to analyze this issue to fine the root cause.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Satrajit.

    Hi there
Unfortunately you provided too few information to analyze the issue.
Maybe the underlying tables have very skew data and the first select has to read a larger share of the base tables.
Maybe the columns had been unloaded before and the first query had to load them into memory first.
Is the runtime always bad with the one and always good with the other set of parameters?
Have you checked the PlanViz for both versions? How do these differ?

  • Since allowing my upgrade to happen, I am unable to double press and shut off apps that are now eating up my battery time. It doesn't "wiggle" anymore to allow me to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a new user and when the phone asked for the upgrade.. I have had a lot of problems. First it eliminated all of my contacts. Also, I use to be able to close open apps to reduce battery usage by holding my finger on the apps until they "wiggled" allowing me to shut the active app off. I cannot do this any more and now my battery time is lasting about 5 hours tops. This is without me using any apps other than answering calls. Can someone please help.

  • Upgraded Macbook Made a HUGE Difference

Hello- Just to share some of the love'in....
I had to switch from using a MacPro (1st gen model) back to my 13" '08 Macbook as my full time machine. I originally switched to the MacPro because I found myself waiting a lot for my 13" MB. So I thought I'd upgrade and see if it made a difference... WOW! It made a huge difference. I was really amazed. Here were the upgrades:
    - Added a fast 7200rpm 320GB drive (WD Black: $55)
    - Upgraded from 4GB to 6GB of Ram (I know, not supported, but works great for ~$50)
That's it. XBench score is 157 and my MacPro was 163. Couldn't believe how much faster it felt.
Only downside is that there is a slight "whipser" from the new hard drive (really quiet). Haven't noticed any heat change or battery difference.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Scott Cropper-
    Thanks for sharing.
It reinforces the advice that we always give folks trying to run with 512MB.
    Luck-

  • Is it any differences in battery life between the different processors (MBPr late 2013)?

Is it any differences in battery life between the 2,4GHz i5, the 2,6GHz i5 and the 2,8GHz i7?
I'm planing on buying a macbook pro 13" but I'm a little bit uncertain which processor I should chose. I want as much power as possibly but if it's any significent battery diffrences, then I would chose battery over power. I've read that there is about 45 min diffrence between the 2,3GHz and the 2,6GHz in the 15".

I imagine that there are but since Apple makes no such distinctions, I suspect that the differences are not that great.  I have not seen any reports or studies to that effect.
If battery life is of paramount importance to you, consider a Macbook Air.  The advertised battery run times are significantly longer than the Macbook Pro.
    Ciao.

I just downloaded iOS 7, and on my home screen at the top the battery, time and service isn't showing up. How do I fix that

    Hi Michellem_14,
Have you reset or restarted your iPhone since the update?
Hold down the home button and the power button until you see an Apple logo
Release both buttons and the iPhone will restart.

  • Battery time and enhancement features

Smartphone’s are known for consuming a lot of battery power and depending on your configuration your phone might last longer or shorter than other phones. This topic contains some advice and info about what you can do to increase your battery time.
When using your new Android phone it will take approximately up to a week or so before the phone settles in its battery usage and power management, depending on applications installed and the amount of content in your phone. It’s worth mentioning that this evaluation that the phone runs in the background at first period of use will happen again after master reset or reinstalling/repairing the phone software. So if you have just reset or reinstalled your phone, this power management evaluation process will run again. So it might at first seem like your phone is consuming more battery power than before the reset, but its normal.
If you have been using your phone for a couple of week and still think that the battery time is a bit too low, here’s some advice that will increase the battery time.
First of all make sure that your phone is running on the latest version of the firmware. You can use PC Companion to check for software updates for your phone.
    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
Or Bridge for Mac if you’re a Mac user:
    http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/bridge-for-mac/
You can also check battery consumption via the menu; Settings > About phone > Battery use, or Settings > Battery, or Settings > Power management > Battery.
Things that can be disabled or reduced when you don't need them:
    Dim the screen
    Disable live wallpaper if used
Turn off 3G (WCDMA), 4G (LTE).
    Turn off mobile data traffic
    Turn off Bluetooth®
    Turn off Wi-Fi®
    Turn off GPS
By doing this you will increase your battery time. But if you're still experiencing a low battery time you can try the following as proposed by many users on the forum. (Only applies for phones using removable battery)
When phone reaches 50% in battery level turn it off and pick out the battery for a few minutes. Put it back and connect the charger, now charge the phone turned off for about 5 hours or overnight. Start the phone as normal and check if the battery life time has improved.
You can also let the phone drain the battery completely until it turns itself on and won’t start again.
At this point connect the charger but do not turn on the phone, leave it charging while turned off until the battery indicator on the screen is completely filled.
Also make sure that you’re using a Sony original charger.
    Battery enhancement features
    Extended standby mode
Use the extended standby mode to make the battery last longer. Your Wi-Fi® connection, data traffic and unused applications are then paused when the phone is in standby. You can still receive phone calls, text and multimedia messages. Once the phone is used again, all paused functions are resumed.
You can enable/disable Extended standby mode via Settings > Power management. (Depending on model)
    STAMINA mode
It has already been mentioned a couple of times that Smartphone’s use a lot of power, even when you’re not actively using them. All those app’s that you have on your phone may still be running in the background, draining your battery. STAMINA mode is a further development of Extended standby mode and saves wasted battery drain by recognizing when your display is off and turning off functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want. As soon as you wake up your Android Smartphone, everything is up and running again.
    Get only the important notices.
With Battery STAMINA mode, Wi-Fi® and data traffic are disabled during standby, but you still receive incoming calls, texts, and alarms. And since everyone has different needs, you can easily customize which app's you want to receive push notifications from even in standby mode. Facebook notifications on or off? It’s up to you.
The STAMINA mode will constantly re-evaluate your usage and update the expected standby time accordingly.
This standby time will completely vary depending on your own personal usage. You may see that when you first start using your handset, the Standby time will be higher than what is expected after you have used the handset for a few days. This is due to STAMINA mode having no previous usage history to estimate from.
If you have a very high usage level, you may only see a slight improvement between having STAMINA enabled and disabled. STAMINA mode is more effective the more often the display is turned off as this is when the power saving features kick in. If the display is rarely turned off, you may not see much improvement in the battery performance.
You can enable/disable STAMINA standby mode via Settings > Power management. (Depending on model)

    1. Check the cycle count of the battery against the rated life for your model. The battery may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.
    2. Follow these instructions, or these for OS X 10.8 or earlier.
    3. In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck the box marked
Enable Power Nap while on battery power
if it's shown (it may not be.)
    4. You can also try resetting the SMC.
    5. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.
    6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Horrible product , I have everything mac and this is my biggest disappointment. I have taken it in 3 times since march and again 1 week ago and now voice over even though turned off will not stop talking I can't even listen to music !!

i have reset everything and voice over still won't stop . Iv turned it off it has never been turned on .
THis his by far is the worst apple
product I own and I own over 7 different products Just me alone in my house there are numerous more .
i now for the fourth time since March have to bring the product back to apple and have it looked at . That's hours at times that I spend there due to lines , as a full time worker and student I do not appreciate the hassle of continuously having to fix this product . Lat time I went in I asked the service representative to provide another product and I would pay the difference in fees. She just wrote a note saying " if I come back again to to give a brand new product , less then one week later I'm returning with my product and hope to get what I was promised .
I Have never been so disappointed in an apple product and recommend no one ever buys it .  Invest in a different product .

I have the same question what time did you chat ? Just because you were speaking with someone that is representing Verizon does not mean you were speaking to a "Customer Service" agent. Customer service is only open during specific hours. After those hours the only people online is the Online Sales Department. It is very possible you were chatting with the sales department.

  • Low Battery time after Mountain Lion Update

I would like to know why the Mountain Lion uses more energy... because i realized that my MBP 2011 is using more battery... before I updated it, it usually take 5 or 6 hours to be empty and now it is taking 3 or 4 hours on it's better time... =x is there something wrong with the SO?

There's a huge thread about battery life here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135250?start=0&tstart=0 .  Hopefully it will be fully addressed in 10.8.2.

  • Poor battery life since Yosemite upgrade

    Hi all,
Since upgrading to Yosemite I have noticed that I only get about 5 hours of battery life, even when just running Safari and Mail. I have checked the battery life and it is reporting as good. I have also reset PRAM and SMC but that didn't seem to change anything. Here is a dump from EtreCheck but I couldn't find anything obvious there either. Does anyone have any ideas or is this battery life as good as to be expected?

  • Low battery time with Arch

    Hi,
I'm running Arch on an Asus UX32LN and I've noticed that since my installation of Arch, my battery time has been reduced by 2-3 hours compared to when I was running Windows 8.1. What's the cause of this? Can I diagnose it somehow? I've lowered my screen brightness, I'm not using the graphics card or anything, running just a WM and no extras. This is just me sitting with chromium and a terminal open at most.
    Any ideas?

Are you using BumbleBee to manage the nVidia card? Or have you disabled one of the cards from the BIOS/UEFI settings?
    No.

  • Time since last full charge not showing

Ever since I have received my iPhone 5S, the battery life is much worse than my iPhone 4S. I have used it no more than my last phone. Also under battery usage, the time since last full charge is not displaying anything. This issue has been present since day one. I do not know what to do.

Did you ever got this figured out ?
I purchased a iPad air and its doing the same i.e. Time since last full charge is not showing any info (and yes I have charged my iPad several times to 100% )
    What do do ?

  • Time since last full charge not displaying despite full charge last night

I've had my iPhone 5 for almost a week. I noticed the battery drains quickly, did some research on the boards and realized it wasn't just me. I conditioned the battery last night, ran it out til the power shut down then charged through the night til it was 100% this morning. The battery still drains quickly and under settings > general > usage the "Time since last full charge" does not display. I know it was working over the weekend but yesterday i had the same problem before the charge (i figured it was because i hadn't charged it all the way the previous charge). Any suggestions? Location services is still set to ON for diagnostics and usage. I've tweaked a few of the notifications and location service settings so it could be something i changed, but i doubt it. Really coincidental that the usage won't display and the battery is draining like crazy.

Mine is doing the same thing now that I have updated to 6.0.1. Battery life is way worse than before the update and again the "Time since last full charge" is not displaying any statistics.
