Huge email cannot be deleted - iphone crashes

Hi,
my iphone drives me nuts. Some idiot sent a mail as large as 25mb, now Iphone does its bit to make things even worse. btw, the account concerned is a POP account. Moving the big email to trash works fine until I try to delete it from there - mail app crashes.
Apple Support provides useless advice. Speaks about email calendar settings/mail acc/ advanced/ deleted emails or deleted inbox. The latter option does not exist on my phone. Alternatively the option "on the server" is mentioned, but doesn#t seem to exist either. What are they talking about? All I can see is, is an option to configure when email should be deleted from server, but that doesn't help.
Jailbreakers, any idea which folder mails are saved in? Best to delete email via winscp although I guess Apple were clever enough and dumped all emails in to single file:-(

No, its struggling because ANY email application will have problems with something that big stuck in the cache.
I guess you're right on that one, but I suppose if mail app is/were programmed like a database it would be possible to simply delete the file without a big fuss. I don't want to open - just get rif of it.

So get online, and use webmail to delete the email, and empty the trash. Thats the only way to do it. The Mail App cannot cope with that problem.
Already done that, but problem is not that iphone struggled to download the plentiful MB - the mail had successfully been downloaded from webmail account and iphone has a hard time to display its contents - which is understandable or delete it altogether. I seemingly deleted it from the inbox which means it gets moved to the trash box. question is why does the app crash when it's supposed to remove a message from the trash box?

If you cannot understand the technical support terms they use then its not really their fault. That said, if the above webmail trick doesn't work, simply delete the entire account from the phone, reboot the phone from cold and recreate the account as a new one and the problem will no longer be there.
what makes you so sure I cannot understand their terms? the option simply doesn't exist. If needs be I can send a screenshot.

Ask for help again in this subject and your post will certainly be pulled - jailbreaking discussions are not permitted here. I must however admit to being confused as to how you cannot follow the support guidance on the iPhone but seem familiar with jailbreaking .... but it matters not.

That has been my experience, also Demo...happens on my iPhone and iPad, but I have not paid attention to the dating. My experience has been that almost everytime I do a large amount of deleting, maybe need to note just how many or how many are left and see if there is a correlation, I get some "empty" emails appearing that I cannot delete. When that happens, I quit Mail, and then when I reopen Mail there is a full complement of emails present. Emails have been pulled in from those not being displayed due to the limit on number displayed that I am using.
My experience may not be the generic answer...it is the way this has been working for me, so whatever that is worth.
I haven't gone through the process you describe of reset, since the quit/restart has worked.
Obviously this is an "undcoumented feature" of Mail
Do you know if anyone has filed a bug report with Apple on this? Seems like an appropriate thing to do under the circumstances.

Deleted emails keep reloading on iPhone 4S

After deleting read emails and emptying the trash folder, they reload as new emails on my iPhone 4S and iPad. Help!

I too am losing my mind. Tried initial reboot, etc. Then last night restored and reloaded/synced. On my POP account (earthlink) I continue to get it repopulating every time I delete an email. My resetting everything effectively wiped out my accrued emails which was fine since I pick them up on my laptop or via web if need be. But the 4 new emails CANNOT STAY DELETED!
So restoring wasn't an effective option.

Ever since updating to iOS 4.2.1, I'm having a problem with deleted emails reappearing on my iPhone 3G.
I have deleted these emails a dozen times. They are also deleted from the server, so they're not being re-downloaded.
I have rebooted and reset the phone. I have deleted and re-created the email account. The emails keep coming back. I have about 25 of them now and they just won't go away, like zombies back from the dead.
My email is a POP account at comcast.net. (IMAP is apparently not available for this account.)
Any ideas on how to permanently expunge these deleted emails?

Try resetting the iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
If the does not work then delete that email account and set it up again,
Settings > Mail > select the account > delete account.
Take a note of the account settings before doing this to help you set it up again.

If you have the original receipts, you can take them to an Apple Store and they may be able to remove the activation lock. A good lesson learned to have an employee clear a device when leaving.

AT&T does not issue unlock codes for iPhones. I had to think a minute, because I never had a 3GS myself, and thought it might have been different for them, but my daughter had one, and the unlock process is the same as for the 4. After AT&T approves the unlock (which means the contract has been fulfilled), they notify Apple. AT&T then sends the phone's owner an email detailing the process to unlock the phone, which consists of backing up the data, then restoring the phone as new in iTunes (which is where the unlock comes in), then restoring the data backup and then syncing. I'm having a similar problem. I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order. Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy. When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too. You can't.
All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the Photo Library. The photos in the album or albums below are not duplicates - they include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view the photos in a particular album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos available in all albums by selecting Photo Library.
Just as with an iTunes playlist. A song cannot be in an iTunes playlist unless the song is in the main iTunes library. Placing a song in a playlist does not duplicate the song. Remove the main iTunes library or the songs from the main iTunes library that are in a playlist and the songs will no longer be in the playlist either. Just updated to 7.06. Cannot Select multiple emails to move/delete. I select Edit in any mailbox, trash or sent, then select one email to delete/move, after a few seconds, the email automatically 'unselects' the move and delete buttons deactivate, but the top status bar still has '1 selected'.
If i try to select multiple emails I get to the 3rd or 4th one and then they all auto unselect.
My Ipad without the update works fine. My daughters iphone 5 has the same issue and she just updated.

I have no problem selecting multiple emails on iOS 7.0.6
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Business emails in Inbox deleted on Iphone also delete from Outlook Inbox on Computer

There are numerous discussions regarding the deletion of emails from Outlook on the computer when they are deleted from the iphone, mine being a 4s. I have two email accounts set up on my iphone. One setup in Other for my personal domain email account and the other is setup through Exchange for my business email that interacts with my Server. True there is an Advanced setting for my personal email account but there is not an Advanced setting for my business email. I have tried setting the Synch setting for my business email account on the iphone to 2 weeks. Unfortunately the Push setting defaults to the Inbox and you cannot uncheck Inbox on the iphone.
There is no setting for my business email to tell it not to delete from the iphone. I have actually had my iphone next to me deleted the email from my business Inbox on my iphone and watched it also delete from my Inbox in Outlook on the computer.
What do we do to stop business emails from being deleted in the Outlook Inbox when deleting them from the iphone? Please advise of the correct settings and how to get to it when there is a business email set up on the iphone that is on an Exchange Server that when the email in the inbox on the iphone is deleted that it doesn't delete from the Inbox in Outlook on the computer.

It is possible with a Blackberry due to RIM's dedicated email delivery service. The Blackberry's email client does not communicate direct with the Exchange Server with an Exchange account or direct with the incoming mail server with any email account.
It is not possible with an email client that communicates direct with the Exchange Server such as with the iPhone's email client, with the Android email client, and with the Windows mobile email client. This is possible with the Blackberry's email client and dedicated email delivery service only which is going out of business unless RIM ends up being purchased by another company.

I do not have any emails there - really nothing.
But it still says that I have 1.8 GB of data.

Quit Mail
Go to your User's Library How to enable the User’s Library folder
Scroll down to the Mail folder
In V2 > MailData do you see Accounts.plist
Verify permissions by doing a Get Info.
You(me) Read & Write
Staff Read only
Everyone Read only
If yes, try renaming this file as AccountsOLD.plist
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar
Log in and lauch Mail.
Do you still see your accounts? If yes, can you delete the gmail account now?
Repair Permissions might help.
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.

I've wondered about this issue as well. I have multiple email accounts, some old ones that I don't use much, others setup for support of particular projects/groups.
I have no idea how and/or why some notes are linked to a particular account.
I'd much prefer to have the ability to link all of them to an account of my choosing, thus when emailing from a note tied to a specific email account, that account would automatically be used to perform that email.
But more importantly, why can't we be allowed to create 'folders' that function the same way as the Finder on my Mac. This file structure could then be accessed by every iOS app and device.
This type of file structure would be a god-send for the camera roll on my phone. I HATE having all my pictures in one huge clump (cloud?)! After all, who wants to live under a cloud all the time?
