Huge file suddenly appeared

Hi Experts,
A huge file suddenly appeared. Do you have an idea where it came from? see the screenshot.
Regards,
Ardie

Hi
are you using the backup service from SBO?
do you have enough free disk to finish the backup tasks?
I think these files were created by SBO Backup Service, and this could not finish because you dont have enough free disk.
Kind regards.

  • Hidden files suddenly appear

    HI
I have just upgraded to 10.10.3 and suddenly I see .Dear Sally_store files and many other hidden files.
Is there a way of hiding these again?

Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder. At the prompt enter:
         chflags -Rf hidden
Leave a space after "hidden" then select and drag into the Terminal window the file or files you want changed, then press RETURN.

  • MPEG 3 Files Suddenly Appeared! What Happened?

I am running iTunes on a Windows 7 machine.  Earlier this month I noticed that Carbonite was working overtime.  What I found was that literally every song file I ripped to my machine over the past two years as an MPEG-4 file has been duplicated as an MPEG-3 file.  The "created dates" on the new files are all since September 5.  Most were in the same folder, some were created in a duplicate folder.  I now have 200 GB of duplicate files!  I don't think I made any changes to my settings.

  • File Suddenly Slows Down

What do I do when a file suddenly slows down? It takes 20 to 30 seconds for one sentence of text to slowly appear on the screen after I type it.
Problem is associated with one chapter (file) in a book of twenty. The other 19 are fine. Same symptoms when the same file is opened in another computer.
I tried starting with a new, blank chapter, copied and pasted the text and the problem reappeared.
I tried starting with another new, blank chapter, and retyped all the text. The problem soon came back.
I don't know if the problem is associated with a photo I place into the file, or with some text, or what.
Please help, very frustrating to not be able to work.
    Thank you,
    Henry

If you are using an unsecured or shared wireless network, then it could be just another user's computer name. If your sharing settings are correct, you have no worry. However, It would appear that at least some of the other user's settings are less than optimal inasmuch as his/hers is openly being displayed.
The next time you check into a hotel and use their wireless network, you are likely to see a number of other user's computers. Some just the name, as they share no files. While others are wide open, and their file sharing is on.

  • Why does revolving gear wheel suddenly appear

After I have been working on my iMac for a while (an hour or so), the revolving gear wheel suddenly appears exactly where it does upon startup, and I am dead in the water. No keyboard or mouse entries work. My only choice is to completely shut down the computer and start it up again. Nothing seems to be prompting the appearance of the gear wheel. When it appears, I might have one or two programs open, or as many as half a dozen. Again, this is the gear wheel, not the colored pinwheel. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Unusual behaviour in terms of when the centre spinning gear appears.  Suspect you may have a problem on your internal disk.
Ensure you have a complete backup of your internal drive if possible.
It may help to restart in “Safe” mode.  Restart but quickly hold down the Shift key as you boot.  After you successfully boot in Safe mode, the restart again but this time just a normal boot without holding down any keys.  When you are in Safe mode not all features on your machine will function, not to worry about that; just boot in safe and then reboot normally.
If this doesn’t work, you could use Disk Utility to examine and repair the internal disk if needed.  Start the computer from your Install DVD by holding down the ‘C’ key with the Install DVD inserted in the optical drive.  But don’t do an actual install.  Enter your language preference and then when the first install panel shows up, go to the Tools menu in the menu bar and select Disk Utility.  Click on your Macintosh HD entry and do Verify Disk Permissions and Repair Disk Permissions.  You should repeat Repair Disk Permissions a couple of times.  There will be some things found that shouldn’t be any problem, but you’ll note possibly several permissions that are repaired.
You can also run Verify Disk and Repair Disk as well which may correct some broken files or directories that may be the problem.

  • Proxy Icon in TextEdit titlebar created HUGE file when dragged into Finder

Hi everyone, Hope you can solve this mystery...
I just noticed that the Titlebar of my TextEdit window has a small icon next to the filename (aka "Proxy icon").  I realized that it's draggable, so I decided to do little test to test it's functionality.
    - I created a small file with one word in it "test" and saved it as "test file.rtf" in a subfolder under Documents; and
    - With the file still open, I dragged the Proxy Icon into a Finder window to the Desktop folder.
When I looked for the file in Finder, I was shocked to see that:
    - It created a HUGE file...the original file is only 306 bytes in size, but the one I created by dragging shows 2.3 MB !
    - The dragged file also has the appearance of an "Alias" file b/c the Finder window show3s a document icon with a curved arrow next to the filename.
    Questions:
    1) Why would Maverick use an Alias symbol on a file that is clearly not an Alias based on it's size?
    2) Why is the file so much larger than the original?
I searched online for answers but found none, so I thought I'd give this forum a try.
btw - in case you're wondering, I did not open the dragged file b/c I didn't want to take any chances.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Files suddenly being corrupted opening in PSE7 Organizer

I have PSE 7 on a Vista OS... tonight, with no warning I began opening some photo files in Organizer and they would suddenly appear corrupted - they would take on a horizontal scrambled look... often in shades of grey, but a couple showing color lines. They remain corrupted even if I try to open them through Vista's file manager or through PSE Editor. This is disconcerting to say the least. The photos were taken at differing times, but they would corrupt 'by series'... that is 5 from the same photo batch would corrupt, but another 6 would be fine (so far!). Then another 2 would 'go' and 8 would remain fine (again, so far). Obviously, I've stopped using PSE until I know what's messing with my photos! I've attached one below.
    Allen

    Sorry for the confusion...
In the opening message maybe I was not clear... the pictures became 'corrupt' as I viewed them in PSE 7 Organizer's viewer. Using the largest thumbnail (single picture), I would move through from one picture to the other - a picture would begin to appear, then 'corrupt' (which you explained). They were still corrupted when subsequently viewed in the Windows Viewer and in PSE 7's Editor, which said to me that the files were indeed corrupted and not just appearing improperly in PSE 7's Organizer.
If I view them ONLY in the Windows Viewer, I had no problems with with watching them become corrupted -- ONLY when I viewed them in PSE 7 Organizer's viewer.
Which is why I was looking to PSE 7 as the culprit.
At the moment I'm thinking of deleting PSE 7 from my system and reinstalling it.
Sorry to confuse the issue, I hope this clears it up.

  • All photos suddenly appear "black" within their frames.  Help!

Between importing photos from my camera and quitting, then reopening the program again a few days later, my photos all now suddenly appear completely black (the same color as the window's background). In every photo folder I have, the correct number of photos appear. They are even oriented the way they would be, except, of course, that the contents of each photo (highlighted in blue, or with the usual thin white frame) is blank. Slideshows show blanks (black screen) with music playing as usual. The iPhoto library still contains the photos, with thumbnails, and I can open the files and view the photos in the iPhoto library using Preview.
Why can't I see the photos within the program itself???

    Lude:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you referring to the thumbnails or the full sized image in the Edit window?
It's an issue in iPhoto 6 that some fixed by updating to 10.4.6 using the COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility.

Repeatedly, this error code suddenly appears on the screen and I don't have a clue what it means or what to do:  "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly.  If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?
                                             No     Yes"

    Hi,
Some "movies' are actually Flash files.
This means the Flash App will play them (possibly in a browser in some cases).
Depending where this item is and how it is playing it may be effected by other things
A web page can include javascript.
Apple uses javascript here to help with creating the posting box, the Edit options, Adding pics/smilies and the like.
Sometimes the javascript can be what is called a runaway process and gets sort of stuck in an endless loop.
If it is a free standing item then it might be triggered by AppleScript on the Mac. (or be modified in some way)
Again if the Script (normally written with a upper case S) is not perfect it can cause problems.

  • My files suddenly disappear

    Hi,
I have an ipad and lately my files suddenly disappear, my pictures, my music, my videos. I don'n know what is going on. Can anybody help?

It sounds like maybe the iPad is crashing? ....
Double tap the home button at the bottom of the iPad to bring up the recents tray. If you have a lot of apps running you may want to close some of them. Tap and hold down on one of the icons until they wiggle. Then tap the minus sign to close them. When you are done, tap the home button once to return to the home screen.
Then reboot your iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears, then slide to power down.
Hold on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and then go of the button and let the iPad restart.
You can also try a hard reset by holding down on the sleep button and home button at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go of the buttons and the iPad will restart.

HELP! Working on a huge file in Illustrator CC2014 and saving as an editable PDF. I made revisions which appear fine when I view the PDF in Acrobat, but not when I re-open it to continue working in Illustrator?

    Shanco,
Are you saving with Create PDF Compatible File ticked, or are you using Save As and then PDF?
    I hope the former.

  • Other data suddenly appears on iphone on itunes sync.  Resolution?

A significant amount of "Other" data suddenly appeared during the last iphone sync. Pushing iphone over quota. I can"t identify the source of the data.  How do I remove it to free up space?

I thought only I had encountered the issue
To figure out what kind of data has occupied so much space, tap Settings > General > Usage. If it shows apps, songs and videos that occupy too much space, then you should delete these files manually. If not, try SafeEraser to scan your iPhone. All kind of junk files will be displayed, let you remove them directly from your iPhone.

  • Firefox crashes when downloading huge files

When downloading huge files like a 4GB DVD image of linux, firefox starts to build up memory usage. After downloading 3GB it takes around 4GB of memory and then crashes since it can't possibly grow any larger. WHY is it doing this? In earlier versions of firefox it created a .part file and stored all data in there. But right now it stores the WHOLE download in memory and then saves it directly to the file. No .part files on the drive.

I installed an apache webserver for faster local downloading and put a 4GB DVD up.
First try on Windows7: After 500MB of downloading it stops with a memory load of 1.6GB then it suddenly tells me the download is finished - at 500MB of 4GB. No crash this time but still not the desired result.
Try on Windows Vista: After 1.5GB of downloading and 1.7GB of memory usage and then the CPU activity jumped to 100% on the core where Firefox executes. Took around 5min then CPU goes down to 2% and it tells me the download finished and starts a virus scan. No crash either. Downloaded only 1.6GB of 4GB
Maybe it didn't crash this time because the download is too fast. Earlier while downloading from internet it always crashed while downloading debian DVD image. Later I used Internet Explorer to complete the download. I'll install a bandwidth control in my apache and try again over a longer period of time.
