Huge Flash File Problem HELP!

Hi,
I am making a flash animation with imports from illustrator,
using copy and paste mainly, the resolution of the animation is
1280 x 1024. The fla file has crawled to 110MB and is seriously
killing my computer when i trya nd work on it. It takes 25 minutes
to save! I need the final animation to run full screen a t that
resolution. Should I be making it at that resolution
is this the problem?

AI artwork can often be flattened in flash by selecting all
and using Ctrl + B (break apart) until
it's all 1 layer of vector data as opposed to several grouped
objects.

How do I compress a huge flash file for a web banner?

Hi there,
I am having trouble figuring out how to compress a huge flash file for a small web banner. I have 3 jpeg sequences (lowquality) that are used as background animations and the swf file is now over 900kb. I need a file under 200 or even 100.

The only way to reduce the size of the file is to reduce the sizes of the content it has. If you go into your Flash Publish Settings and choose the option to generate a a size report then it will publish a report that will let you know how the weight of the file is distributed and you can focus on eliminating that weight from there.

Flashing file icon -HELP!

This morning my IMAC 24 Mid 2007 model was having a number of kernel attacks, I tunred it off and now all I get is either a grey screen, blue screen or a flashing file icon against a white background - what should I do to fix this?

Flash file problems please help :)

I was given a .FLA file and a .EXE version of the file.
The .FLA file will not let me publish it in any format not even .EXE
I had the web page link to the .EXE so that peopel could download it.
Now my boss wants the .FLA file to be viewable on the web and not download it like with the.EXE file
She also wants the file to automatically when the page is loaded.
I figured I would just publish the .FLA file to .SWF and have it autoplay on the internet.
The problem is that the .FLA file will let me edit it but it will not let me publish it in .SWF or any other settings.
I have found an EXE to SWF converter but the .SWF file created from the converter will not autoplay on the internet.
The .SWF file created from the .EXE to SWF converter will only play after you Right click and select Play.
What do you think I should do?

I can have the publish settings set to anything that I want.
The thing is that it will just not publish it at all, not in any format that I select.
When I click Publish, it will create a .swf icon on my desktop but it quickly dissappears as soon as it is done publishing.
I have reinstalled Flash.
I have renamed the .fla file and tried it all again.
I have created a new .fla file and copied and pasted all the layers.
None of these methods work. I would upload it here but the file is 150MB.

Problems opening flash file- Please Help!!

I have Flash CS4. I'm having problems opening a specific file. Its about 239,000 KB. Sometimes it opens partially, I can open movie clips and scrub through the time line and see my keyframes. The problem is that it wont display my movie clip keyframes in the viewing window. The flash dialog giving you options to open previous files is there instead. It doesnt go away. My friend can open the exact same file on his computer in Flash just fine (he has the same computer as me) Also, I have hardware acceleration settings turned to 'NONE'. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

hardware acceleration should be on and you might want to re-install Flash CS4 again.

Using the flash uninstaller/ problems/HELP PLEASE

Look I'm very ill and I can only concentrate so long so
please don't think I'm a jerk. Nothing has gone right as of late,
i'm worried that if i do it wrong flash will not work at all and I
won't be able to fix it. I only can go on the computer certain
times because of headaches.I need to know three things. When using
the flash uninstaller I'm thinkiing it uninstalls all flash
products on your computer? I have two flashplayers that are named
flash player helpers, do they get deleted? I have firefox and IE
browsers, I need to make two downloads right because one is for
firefox and one is for IE? Then Do you need to install the flash
version NPSWF_32 for IE or just instasll the newest flah for IE?
just need to know because I have computer issues and flash now
doesn't work on certain sites. Why would flash stop on some sites
on both browsers? They are two different flash,right. THANKS to

The Flash Player is available in two technologies..
1. ActiveX control.. Used by all Windows versions of Internet
Explorer ONLY
2. A plugin. Used by all other browsers and all other OS
Yes, you do need to install both if you use IE and other
browsers.
You should NOT have to worry about uninstalling, unless
something goes wrong with the install, which does happen sometimes.
But for millions of people a day the install goes just fine and
they have no worries.
I don't know what a 'Flash Player helper' is. YOu should NOT
need to worry about the plugin and/or activeX control files
themselves.
Launch IE, go to
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
and do the install, then quit IE.
Then launch Firefox and repeat. That plugin install will be
used by anything else on your machine that requires the plugin
(except maybe for google chrome.. i haven't tested that)
You should be OK with the basic update install. If you get
stuck you can open a support webcase and we can guide you. Or in
some cases (especially if troubleshooting can be a challenge) we
recommend taking your machine to a local professional. But that's
fairly rare.

Linked excel file problem - Help needed

I have 2 excel files in the same directory in Content Services. The "destination" file has a link in one of its cells to a cell in the "source" file. I want to be able to open the "destination" file and update the data if any changes have been made to the "source" file.
My problem is when I try to do this i get an error that says "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated" and two options.
1) To change the source of links, or attempt to update values again, click Edit Links.
2) To open the workbook as is, click Continue.
If I click Edit Links I am then presented with a screen where I can open the "source" file. When I try to do this though I am given a login screen. Supplying a valid Content Services username and password doesn't work and I cannot open the file.
Can anyone tell me how I can open the "destination" file without having to open every "source" file? I don't want to open the "source" files because there could be dozens of "source" files for one "destination" file.

setw is the equivalent of the field width value in printf. In your code, the printf version would look like:

I do think it is a good idea to verify your code on the platform it will be tested against. That means Visual Studio. However, you don't want to use Visual Studio. As you have found out, it gets people into too many bad habits. Linux is much the same way. Both development platforms are designed to build anything, whether or not it is syntactically correct. Both GNU and Microsoft have a long history of changing the language standards just to suit themselves.
I don't know what level you are in the class, but I have a few tips for you. I'll phrase them so that they answers are a good exercise for the student
* Look into const-correctness.
* You don't need to compare a bool to 1. You can just use bool. Plus, any integer or pointer type has an implicit cast to bool.
* Don't reuse your CURSOR pointer as a temporary index. Create a new pointer inside the for loop.
* In C++, a struct is the same thing as a class, with all of its members public by default. You can create constructors and member functions in a struct.
* Optimize your function arguments. Pass by const reference instead of by copy. You will need to use pass by copy at a later date, but don't worry about that now.
* Look into initializer lists.
* In C++ NULL and 0 are always the same.
* Return the result of an expression instead of true or false. Technically this isn't officially Return Value Optimization, but it is a good habit.
Of course, get it running first, then make it fancy.

An applet is not allowed to write files.
But you can use a signed applet.

Can't open my flash file- please help!!

Hi! I just taught myself Adobe Flash and created a very intricate file with lots of moving parts. I saved it and then went to improve it. Of course it was taking forever so I got up from the computer to let it do its thing and I accidently knocked out my external harddrive. A lil freaked out I exited out of adobe flash- plugged it back in and went to open my file. However, it wont open now! I've saved it a dozen times after I added each new part but I have nothing now! Is there a way to get it to open? The message that comes up simply says failed to open document.

Hi,
This error normally pops up if a fla is tried to open in a lower version IDE.
For eg. a CS4 fla is tried to open in CS3.
But in your case its the CS3 only.
So I feel the file some how got corrupted.

Q: I have been given (.mov) files imported into imovie on a drive but I have CS4 for PC and can't import. Is there a solution for this? The person is in a remote location in Indonesia so getting to them is very difficult.

There may be, but so very much will depend on what is inside those MOV files. That MOV is just a wrapper, and can contain a lot of different "stuff." Most of it can be edited on a PC, but some is Mac-specific.

We need to store about ONE MILLION XML FILES inside the database.
BUT we need to use all functionality of XML Structure to look for
information inside these files (CONTAINS).
My question is:
What is the best way to store them:
like XML files inside CLOB ?
or fragment the files inside tables ?
Using ConText Option ?
Using CONTAINS functions ?
Is ConText Option supports CONTAINS function ?!?
We have many queries with text searching...
What is the best way to store this so we have best velocity to
acces to the info ?

Let me try and answer your question. First the CONTAINS
operator in Intermedia Text (formerly Context) will allow you to
search for data between tags of an XML document stored as a
CLOB. Whether you should distribute your XML documents across
tables is largely a function of how you want the data searched
retrieved. Currently the XML search function operates within a
column and thus if you want the entire doc back it would be best
to store it as a whole. Once iFS is released you will be able
to distribute the doc across tables and return it as a whole or
in parts.

Flash Files Will Not Display in Dreamweaver

Flash files will not display in Dreamweaver or in any
browser. If I insert a Flash button, text or other file, when I hit
the "play" button the flash place holder disapears, and the Flash
file never displays. In the Property Inspector, the file is always
"undefined" even when I save the file to my root folder with a
name. When I hit the "Edit" button, I get the message that the file
could not be found on my local disk. It's like Dreamweaver fails to
create or place a Flash file. Help please!

You will have to rename the hard drive for dreamweaver to
work properly.
The ' is causing dw to not find the path.
other symptoms would be dw nagging that the "homepage" is not
within the
local site folder so it can't build a sitemap.

Need Help To Extract Logo from Flash File .swf

I have an attached Flash file that is in
.swf format. There is a N64 logo within this file that I'm
trying to extract as a
.png with a transparent background. I've been able to open
it in a program called
Flash Decompiler Trillix and in the sub-menus it has the
logo listed as a frame.
This is about as far as I have gotten and I'm stuck. Perhaps
someone else knows how to do this a little easier. I just need to
find a way to extra the logo that already has a transparent
background and save it in
.png format.

Hello,
I ran into a similar problem a few months ago. I have the
Sothink Flash Decompiler and what I did was turn the SWF back into
a FLA. I then opened it in Flash and then exported what I wanted as
a PNG image.
Decompilers can extract the actual image whether it be jpeg,
gif, png, etc. But when it's listed as a frame(as you mentioned
above) then the method above is probably the best way to get it.

Whatever the problem is you no longer have a bootable system. You need to try reinstalling OS X.
Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
