HUGE increase in TC speed

Question

I have had TC for about a week now and have been pretty unhappy with the speeds. I have been running in N only mode at 5GHZ and have averaged about 5MB transfer speed to the TC hard drive or to a SMB shared drive. I decided to try and change the Multicast rate from 6MB to 12MB and now I see an average transfer speed to and from other devices of about 12MB. The speed test was using Activity Monitor.

As soon as you throttle it back to 2.4 GHz for compatibility with older standards b/g then you loose that speed. There is another option. You can set up a "dual-band" network by adding another b/g device (like an AirPort Express) running at 2.4 GHz at the same time as the Time Capsule running at 5 Ghz. This is explained (not very well) in Apples "Designing Airport Networks 10.5". Then you get full 270 Mbit/sec 802.11n for your n compatible computers and your older macs would connect to the b/g network. You would give the networks different SSID names.
Thanks Jeffrey, probably will leave it as is, I only have one n compatible machine out of 3 so probably not worth the extra setup. Even so by making my TC my base station I did my final first backup (the G4 ibook) and wow with making TC my basestation and using the new 7.3.1 firmware this backup (which I am doing as wireless since this machine is elsewhere in house) is booking unlike my first attempt with old setup and 7.3.0 firmware. It is going to finnish in 5-6 hours as opposed to several days when TC was added to my existing computer to computer network and using old firmware. So it is worth making it the basestation so I could use the 7.3.1 firmware (which could not to the old WEP my computer to computer network could only do).
