Huge problem with Bridge's ability to keep files stacked.

Question

I've been working on sorting 8000 image files using Adobe Bridge. After stacking all my images, I batch renamed just 15 files. After renaming the files the program for whatever reason unstacked all my ******* files!!!! Is their any way to get the 35+ hours of work lost back? Or should I just use another program and never touch another adobe program again?

Besides the very clear post from Ramón,
If you start such a huge project using an application without studying the
possibility on how to use the app to the most of your benefit you are asking
for trouble.
And why is your only sorting method to use group in stacks while you can use
the ability of rating and labeling in combination with keywording (or
metadata in description field) and even with  use of collections. You also
should not work in one folder with so many files, use subfolders that you
can create in Bridge and remove the files with drag and drop. Use the folder
panel for a clear overview.
Every now and then stacks ungroup themselves for no reason. However if you
did not change the sort order the files are in the same order before they
ungrouped themselves. You only have to scroll from top to bottom and with
some effort you can regroup them reasonably easy.
But as said, use other methods!
