HUGE problems. ipod isn't recognised AND won't switch off hold...

Just bought a brand new 30GB video and not only is it frozen on hold and won't restore or do anything, after me installing it Windows says "One of the USB devices attached has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it".
If anybody knows the answer to either problem I would really appreciate some help!

I've had this problem, except for the hold stuck part, but with my brand new 60 gb 5g ipod. It only worked once and stopped being recognisable the same day! It's been a week since i bought it and i haven't been more dissappointed by a product in my whole life! Tried to fix it, nothing worked, and trust me i did a very thorough research! Tried to exchange it with a new one but the salesman refused, although he reckoned the ipod had a serious problem. Tried to contact Rainbow, which is the only Apple reseller in Greece, and unfortunately isn't in my city, and i'm still waiting for the service request papers to arrive. I'm very close to desperate. I hope i get it exchanged before 2006.

  • The screen on my iPod touch is white and won't turn off and on?

I was charging my iPod and forgot about it after a couple days and now my screen is white and won't turn on and off and I held hold button and button on screen for 10 seconds and it didn't do anything. HELP

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch is disabled and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize the device and i can't see the serial number on the back

My NOSY (now ex) husband did something to my ipod touch and it is now disabled. It was dead and I charged it and NOW the sucker won't turn off. When I connect to itunes i see a message that says i have to UNLOCK it with a passcode. I tried to get apple support but they want my serial number. Well...the ipod wont turn on!!! I've had it at least 6 years and have moved and I can't find my paperwork and WHO can read that serial number on the back? I know its kind of outdated (third generation, I believe)but its mine, I love it and it has ALL my music on it.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • My I3GS is jumping between all the functions by itself and won't switch off

About an hour ago my phone started to jump to voice control automatically and calling random numbers. It then started to take images of itself then proceeded to play music and what appears to be like a demo. I tried to switch it off but it won't even let me do this.

"Recovery Mode" is when the phone displays the screen found here: http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT1808/HT1808_03.png
If you see this, then fixing it is very easy.  You will just need to connect the phone to your computer with itunes and follow the prompts from itunes.

  • HT1363 ipod making clicking noise and won't work

Ipod making clicking noise and won't work. Display see apple store. We live in a rural area so one is not close!

OK, I have the 30G w/video and it does that too. I've had it a year with no problems. My husband went on the treadmill with it a couple days ago and after a few songs it froze. I did the whole regime of toggling and pressing menu/select button, I put in on my Bose speaker/charger and it switched to very low battery warning. When I took it off to move to computer it said to connect to computer and use restore (in a few languages). I connected and it recognized it and I did restore and after a few minutes screen came up saying it could NOT restore. Then ipod was unrecognized and then ipod screen gave me the very sad little ipod picture with the support web site. At that point it began making the clicking nose - morris code does describe it but I was invisioning a little nano sprite in there with a chisel!!So, same as you, I go there and it's like a maze trying to find help!! Of course my warranty was up exactly 6 weeks ago!! I tried linking through all the stuff like finding a service provider in my area, contact the "knowledge base" etc., and I can't get anyone! Now what are we gonna do?

  • HELP! My ipod is frozen on and won't charge!

    Hello!
My ipod is completely frozen and won't charge. It is stuck on a picture of a folder with an exclamation point(!). I reset it several times and it just goes back to this picture. I have tried to charge it but it seems to not connect to my computer because the battery does not come up and my ipod icon does not appear in my itunes. I tried to charge it on another computer and it would not charge on that one either. I updated my itunes but still nothing. Restoring seems kind of extreme (losing ALL of my songs!!) so I was hoping I could fix this problem without having to do that! Can anyone help me or has this happened to anyone else? Suggestions are welcome! Please Help! =)

  • My iPod Classic 160 is in disc mode and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize it - ¿how can I make it work again?

My iPod Classic 160 is in disc mode.  I responds to nothing.  iTunes doesn't recognize it.  It doesn't sync.  I've tried to restore and got error 1429.  Now it just stays in disc mode and won't turn off.  I'm keeping it connected to the charger so it doesn't go dead.  Is there anything I can do to resurrect my pod?

To get out of disk mode do a iPod Hard Reset.
Toggle the Hold switch till you dont see the red mark.
Press Menu and Center buttons simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON then release the buttons

MY iPod isn't charging and I know it's not the charger cause I just bought a new one what do I do

    Hi Kooool-aidd,
You might want to check to see if the outlet is wired correctly, or maybe try a different outlet. Also, are you sure that your charger is supported by the iPod that you're trying to charge?
See this article and this article by Apple.
    Hope this helps,
