Huge thanks - Mac problems with Type A new firmwar...

Since I got the upgraded Type A firmware on my HomeHub 3 its messing my wifi on my macbook pro. Every other device is fine, the macbook works fine on other connections.
The connections stalls for 30sec or so, disconnects all games, apps etc.
Then comes back on.
Spent 45mins onto India tech support, the girl had no idea what firmware was and kept blaming my macbook. Ive worked for o2 broadband support, i know what the problem is the HomeHub. Problems started 23rd Nov when i got upgrade.
I email and a lovely lady has a Type B on the way next day, took 2 emails.
Seems to get things sorted, you need to escalate.

Big problems with updating the new Firmware to my Zen To

Hi, I'm new and not sure, if this problem has occured to other users too.
I wanted to update my Zen Touch. I'm trying this now for over month. My Zen Touch had to been send to Creative two times already and as it looks now, I will have to send it to them for a third time.
Everytime I start the firmware update, the Zen touch crashes and is not recognized by the PC anymore. No way, to fix it from here. I have tried the AutoUpDate option and the manual one. Both with the same result.
Last time I send the Zen Touch to Creative I have asked them, if they couldn't install the new firmware, before sending it back to me. Unfortunatly they didn't and now I have the same problem again.
It dri'ves my crazy! I would like to have the newest firmware, but obviously I cannot get it installed from my PC.
Did anybody of you have this problem too? Or does anybody know a way to solve the problem. I don't want to send it back in. I already couldn't use it now for 4 or 6 weeks. I'm realy pretty angry.

Are you trying to install the v2 PlayForSure firmware?
Ordinarily the process should work unless there is some connection issue with your PC. You might want to try the process on another suitably specced PC, but it depends what state your player is in now.

I am running Snow Leopard. Transferring the same texts to TextEdit has no problems, so this is a Pages problem, I think. Corruption of Times New Roman and Arial fonts, I suspect, but where? and what do I do about it? I just need to be pointed to a source of advice, I think.

Check Settings/iTunes and AppStore/AppleID and make sure that your AppleID is filled in. If not , sign out and sign in with the correct info.
To make sure that no other apps or videos are on your device than the one you bought, set it up as new device, explained here: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Content that is not bought with your ID can't be used on your phone, that's why his ID and password is asked when you try to use those apps downloaded in the store.

Problems with type aligning in CS 6

I work for a print shop. My colleague is having an issue that I am unable to duplicate on my computer. She has a customer supplied ID document. The customer is doing an effect with type where it is a spot color (a red) and then the same type is on top with a gradient applied. The client sets the type on top to multiply but when my colleague exports to pdf some of the type on the back side shifts slightly so as not to align properly. Here only fix is to set it to overprint which fixes the problem. However, when I do it on my computer (same OS, Mac 10.6.8) it works fine as multiply. When she does it in CC it works fine.
Obviously, changing to overprint is a good solution but the client is supposed to be sending a lot more work done this way and it would be nice if we didn't always have to change it. I had her trash her preferences in ID. She has reloaded ID. Anybody else have any idea of what could be going on that is causing this?

Michael, thanks for your reply. I was just going to check the font versions she is using against the ones I am using and stopped because I think she figured it out. It looks like it was a corrupt pdf preset. She made a new one with pretty much the same settings and everything looks good.
Not sure why that would happen but if someone has a theory I would like to hear it. And I had never had an issue with presets getting corrupt.

Problem with install on new compy, something to do with external?

Hello, so I have been having a few problems with installing Arch on my new computer. On my old laptop I never ran into this problem on any distro of LINUX I installed, nor on any other of the systems I have installed Arch on. I believe it might have something to do with the fact that I am running the live cd off of an external dvd drive maybe? I am kind of stuck here, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hard Drives: 2 SATA 160gb hd RAID 0, and one 160gb ATA hd
OS: Windows 7 Professional on the RAID 0, hoping to put ARCH on the ATA (I have tried booting the ATA first in the list behind the USB DVDROM to no avail)
External Drive: Sony DVD/CD RW drive DRX-510UL
External DVDROM is the exact same drive I used to install windows 7 professional.
External DVDROM is plugged into one of my USB 2.0 ports, but the error still persists.
I am using the EXACT same disk I used when installing it on my past computer.
Trying to install x86_64 version of Arch, gets past the splash.

K, got it running. was having errors with the USB hd, but just changed the name it booted from to the name of the drive. thanks!

Mac: Problems with certain characters in the editor

I have now downloaded the production version on my Mac and it runs just fine. The first thing I see is that the painting problems with the close icons etc. have been fixed. Thank you for that. But I still have trouble typing certain characters in the editor. I haven't reported that yet, but I have seen others report similar problems caused by missing support for international keyboards. The characters that I cannot type are |\[{]} which is pretty annoying when you're writing Java code. :-) It works fine in normal Java text fields. On my Norwegian keyboard I normally input all these characters by typing 7 and 8 combined with option or option + shift.

Check if database characterset supports these special characters
check client's nls settings.
check client machine's language settings (converts characters in driver level)

Problem with Itunes and new Macbook Pro

I just purchased a Macbook Pro, my first Apple computer ever though I have other Apple products (iPad, iPod, iPhone). All of my iTunes music and playlists are on my Dell PC at work. My hope is to transfer my music to my new Mac (at home) so that I have more room for actual work items on my computer at the office.
I had no trouble transferring the songs (via my iPod) the songs are there but the playlists are not listed on my new computer (the Mac). Is Mac compatible with making playlists in iTunes and if so how can I get those lists back other than paistakingly creating all 45 play lists one by one again?

Do you have an external hard drive? If you do, connect the drive to the PC. Copy the iTunes Folder and all the media and various library files it contains from the PC to the drive. Connect the drive to the Mac. Copy the folder and replace the folder on the Mac in your Home > Music with the one from the PC. Start iTunes and it will now be pretty much identical to the one that was on the PC. Caution: If you have put things on the Mac that were not on the PC then you will need to change the process a bit.

Problem with watchpoints in new abap debugger

when using the new debugger to watch a value-parameter in a form, the debugger stops every time the value of the variable in the watchpoint is changed.
Even when there is an extra condition entered.
Is this a bug, or is it supposed to happen that way because the parameter is passed as a value rather than a reference?
This is a bit hard to explain, so here is a simple code sample demonstrating the behaviour :

Problem with type conversion and primary key during row fetch

[Note, this error occurs in Oracle XE, APEX 2.1.0.00.39]
I have been having a problem with Automatic Row Fetch:
ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested
So in an effort to resolve this, I created a PL/SQL process with the query below and was able to isolate the same error. The problem seems to come from one of the primary keys being a "number" type (APP_ID). The error occurs on the line:
where u.app_id=:P5_APP_ID
I have tried the following variations on this line in an effort to resolve this, but all generate the same error:
1) where to_char(u.app_id) = :P5_APP_ID
2) where u.app_id = to_number(:P5_APP_ID)
3) where to_char(u.app_id) = to_char(:P5_APP_ID)
I've also tried the laternate syntax "&__." and "#__#", but these don't function in the Source field and show up as syntax errors.
Any suggestions are welcome.

I found a prior post referencing a similar issue and it was solved by using the "v(__)" syntax. This did resolve my issue, however, I have a quick follow-on which I'm hoping someone can answer quickly...
Since the "v(__)" syntax won't work for the Automatic Row Fetch (at least to the best of my knowledge), I have to do a manual process. However, the manual query as shown above doesn't actually populate any of the form values through the bind variables. They all remain at their cached values from prior data entry on the form.
Is using the bind variables for assignment incorrect, or is there something that must be done to get the updates to show up in the form (ordering of processes, etc.).
My manual process is running in the Load: Before Header state so I would have expected it to update all of the fields.

Problem with deleting a new row in table

I'm using JDev 11.1.1.2.0
Please someone tell me if he/she experience the same issue:
- I have an simple entity with PrimaryKey other than RowID. I have a ViewObject on top of the Entity.
- From this view I create Editable table and add createInsert and Delete buttons.
This is one of the most common scenarios.
Now when I click createInsert a new blank row is added to the table. I enter it's primary key (because is mandatory) and move selection to some other row (let say X).
When I go back and select my new Row and press Delete -> it is not deleted but the row X is deleted.
This is because the table is not refreshed and it cant select the new row.
How can I deal with this problem?

Problems with xfi and new logitech z5300 speak

Hello,
I just upgraded my speakers to Logitech z5300e's from my old set of Creative 5.'s. I am using an XFI soundcard that I have had no problems with in the past; it worked flawlessly with my old Creative 70 watt 5. speakers.
The new speakers do not get sound from the center channel in entertainment mode. Using the speaker test in the creative console, the center channel output comes from the right front speaker--and the right front sound comes from the right rear. Every speaker's output is off by one position. This DOES NOT happen in game mode-the speakers function normally. It only happens in entertainment mode.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and console/mode switcher to no avail. Logitech tech support tells me that this is a Creative software issue since the speakers work correctly in game mode, but not entertainment mode. Actually, this is my second set of 5300's, I returned the first as defecti've because of the same problem.
Can anyone give me any ideas or help?
The problem goes away if I hook up the old speakers and reinstall the drivers.

It seems that in Vista bad things may happen if you ever choose a
program to open downloaded EXE files.

Problem with RoboHelp 6 (new purchase)

Hi all,
Well I have just purchased the latest version of RoboHelp 6
and I opened my previous project (from RoboHelp X3) in the new RH.
I managed to have everything working and everything was good for
about a week (including command-line compilation and batch
generates). However now when I open my project RH stalls. Sometimes
it manages to open the project but I can never edit it. I don't
believe this issue to have anything to do with my machine's specs
and I am running RH on the local machine (where I have admin
rights) as opposed to the network. I am a bit confused by this
behaviour. Maybe I need a patch or something but I am unsure as to
where to find one.

I was having a similar problem this morning with RoboHelp 6.
My project would open, but would immediatly lock up if I tried to
do anything. I removed the KB927891 Microsoft update that I had
just installed, restarted, and everything works fine now. (I got
this idea because it was the only change I had made to my system
and because Microsoft updates have caused problems with RoboHelp in
the past.) The notes on the Microsoft website indicate that this
fix is part one of a two-part solution, so I'm going to wait until
the second part is posted in June and try the update again. It
could be a fluke that this worked, but thought I would pass the
information along.

[CS3 - JS - Mac] Problem with encoding

I made a script that perform a lot of actions on ID.
Everytime this script performs an action it writes a line on a global variable and at the end of the script write this var into a text file ( in the Document folder).
Yes, it's a log file...
While I was testing this script through the Toolkit everything went right.
Then I added a menu action inside the script to call the script from the application and something strange happened, in the log file (wich is a text file UTF8 encoding) and also in the alerts ID shows. Both display text from this:
"È necessario effettuare una selezione" (running the script from the toolkit)
to this:
"√à necessario effettuare una selezione" (running the script from ID menu)
So I think it's an encoding problem...
I just added this code:

I had problems with UTF encoding so I use this function to write the log file:

log_file.encoding = "UTF8";
log_file.lineFeed = "unix";
log_file.open("w");
log_file.write("\uFEFF" + text_var);
log_file.close();
Where text_var is the log string.
When it's written form the ESTK everything is right, when called from the menu it isn't.
It's strange that it also involves alert text innit?
