HUM Packing Proposals in Inbound Delivery

Hi All,
I have the following issue.
When we receive a delivery from a vendor and we perform the inbound delivery, the delivery defaults in the purchase order quantity. As we have setup packing proposals for that vendor, when we go to the pack view the HU structure has already been created, which is Ok for complete delivery.
When we have partial deliveries and try to change the receipt quantity we get an error that HU's have already been packed.
We do not want to have to go in and unpack everything each time we do a partial deliverya s this is very common.
Is the system working this way due to an auto pack option or is this how it works with packing proposals.
I would expect that when we change the dleivery we can go in to the pack screen and ask it to pack per the delievry quantity.
Any ideas?
Thnaks
Stuart

A few years ago I got some help that got some Inbound delivery functionality working, but it was never put into production.
1. Receiving storage location specified on the STO.
2. Receiving points set up in the receiving plant: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Shipping Point & Goods Receiving Point Determination > Assign Goods Receiving Points for Inbound Deliveries.
3. On packaging material to be used the assigned packaging material group should coincide with the IMG setting of the packaging material type assigned to the packaging material group.
4.  Assigned movement type 101 to the DIGN item category: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Define Item Categories for Deliveries
Other settings but not mandatory
1.  In delivery copying control assigned source NL to target DIG: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Copying Control > Specify Copy Control for Deliveries > Define Item Categories for Deliveries
2.  Make packing control mandatory for item category DIGN: IMG > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Deliveries > Packing > Packing Control by Item Category
3.  HUM Required for Plant/Storage Location: IMG > Logistics General > Handling Unit Mgmt > Basics >  Technical Basics > Materials Mgmt > Inventory Mgmt > HU Requirement for Storage Locations
In our process the HU was already created in the Outbound delivery for the STO.  These HU were then copied to the Inbound delivery.  It still works in our DEV client, but it's not being used.  Hope it helps.

  • What's the packing steps about inbound delivery ?

Who can tell me what's the packing steps about inbound delivery ? thanks.

You don't pack for inbound delliveries.. why would anyone do that?
One reason might be that the goods are packed...and you want to have information on packaging and want to manage the packmat inventory.
    XG,
    One possible sceanrio might be:
    1. Create PO - ME21N (e.g.)
    2. Enter confirmation. (you have to maintain confirmation control in config) - ME22N
    3. Create inbound delivery with reference to shipping notification no. (or auto inbound delivery creation might be set) - VL31N (e.g.)
    4. Enter bacth for the delivery item if batch management is set for your goods. (e.g. VL32N)
    5. Click on "pack" icon (or menu > Edit > Pack) > When HU processing screen appears click on "pack" icon and create HU for the item - VL32N
(Based on your settings auto packmat item might be generated when creating the HU. If you have packaging instruction you can use "automatic packaging" icon as well)
    6. If you use WM, please create the TO (menu > Subsequent functions > Create Transfer Order). You can carry out TO confirmation in LT12 if necessary - VL32N
    7. Post GR - VL32N
(you can use VL06I to manage your IBDs)
There are other scenarios as well...(e.g. you can set auto PGR for TO confirmation, etc)

  • Packing material in inbound delivery - intercompagny process with SPED

    Hi,
I am processing intercompany stock transfer using SPED functionality, with automatic creation of inbound delivery.
Using HUM and WM storage location managed, I would like to add automatic packing material items in inbound delivery.
    What I did already check:
    1. there is a plant in HU (packing material type in transaction VHAR; plant determination: B).
    2. there is an item category in HU (transaction 0184; following entry: EL / "blank" / PACK / / ELP -> Inbound delivery type EL,  packing material has general item category group "blank" , then I expect item cat ELP in inbound delivery).
With these settings, automatic creation of inbound delivery does not work anymore: output SPED failed. Error message is VN056:
"Processing log for program /SPE/STO_ID_PROCESSING routine STO_ID_CREATION". When I check output analysis, it is mentioned for SPED : "Output ignored (requirement 408 not fulfilled)".
I also tried with following setting:
transaction 0184; delete previous setting; add following entry: EL / VERP / PACK / / ELP -> Inbound delivery type EL,  packing material with general item category group VERP.
In that case, automatic inbound delivery creation OK but no packing material in it.
    Any idea to help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Packing is not allowed for inbound Delivery

    Hi guys
I was trying to pack the delivery item in inbound delivery with Pack function in delivery object before posting GR against Inbound Delivery. Though I have maintained customizing settings like this Inbound Delivery category ( ELN) is relavant for packing control. and created a packing material master record with packing material type and packing material group.
Here i am showing the screen shot with msg when I execute pack function in inbound Delivery object.
( Remember SLoc is WM Enabled...If I try to create a TO ....i am able to create against Inbound Delivery but not allowing me to pack)
Appreciate your inputs on this ..
    ( See attached link)

    Hi,
I cannot see the attached link and I don't think it it is necessary.
It would be better if you described your process step-by-step (very shortly and clearly), and if you posted the exact error message with its ID (provided you have error message).
    Thanks,

  • L9 528 - Material cannot be used in Inbound Delivery because QM is active

    Hi Colleagues,
So we have HUM products going into a warehouse managed location and we know that we cannot create an inbound delivery for these items if QM is active without 'HU inspection' selected in the QM inspection type of the material master
    So the question
Is there anyway round this so that we can trigger the inspection lot creation at the goods receipt posting rather than at the HU level in the packing of the inbound delivery
Does anyone know if SAP plan to support this in the future?
    Thanks
    Steve

We are not using HUM however using WM. Nonetheless, the problem persist while creating inbounds.
We are trying to use the following approach to address this problem.
uncheck 'relev. for putaway' indicator from 'ELN' item category thus enabling VL31N to by-pass the hard stop incurred due to QM activation.
SAP's reason for this hardstop is to avoid inconsistencies that may arise when TO's are created for inbound deliveries before GR is posted. This scenario does not pertain to us since TO for inbounds before GR is not applicable. Therefore, we are enabling the above configuration. By doing this, we are breaking the link between inbound delvy's and WM, and thus disabling the functionality of creating TO's referencing inbound delvy's (transactions like LT03, LT0F become irrelevant).
But, this process will not work if we implement HUM since standard SAP will not allow to create a putaway TO referencing a TR or a material document. It becomes imperative to create a TO referencing a delvy, but this configuraton will break that link hence it will not work.
    Best Regards.

  • HU - inbound delivery in HU managed Sloc at IM level after GR from prod.

    hi experts ,
we do GR of process order in HU Sloc .   so inbound delivery is created after 101 movement . i want auto packing & GR of inbound delivery in back ground w/o manual intervention :
    requirement is :
    1. i want to do auto packing . we can have that setting at client level for inbound delivery type if we maintain the correct master
data . But i want to restrict this auto packing to particular plant & Sloc and this should not affect other plants.
       2. once auto packing is done auto GR should be made of thr inbound delivery . which FM or Bapi shall i use for this?
or any other way to do it ?
    please guide me on this.

You can setup VL06I batch job to do PGR automatically.

  • Mapping for Inbound Delivery (ASN) Idoc

Can anyone post the mapping and fields needed for posting Inbound Delivery against PO using incoming IDOC from vendor.
We are not using Handling Unit Management for inbound deliveries, but still getting the error "Field EXIDV empty" Field EXIDV is for Handling Unit Number.
How to overcome this error "Field EXIDV empty".
    Thanks

    Hi,
I would check to make sure that your receiving storage location is not activated for HUM management
Normally an Inbound delivery would only request EXIDV if you were trying to post stock to a HUM managed storage location
Can you create an inbound delivery without this issue directly in SAP (via VL31N with the same IDOC data?)

  • Goods receipt of packed inbound delivery is not allowed

    Dear all,
I have a  scenario that as per of business process,i have to post Packed inbound delivery in MIGO .
But i am getting an error says inbound delivery cannot be packed during posting in MIGO. I know that i can post it through VL32N without any problem. Since i need to capture damage, short or excess and some reference numbers and date of production and expiry for the items i need to post through MIGO option instead of VL32N.
I have already checked in our client IDS ,it is allowing to pack without any errors  but in Development  server i am getting this error.
I changed the item category control ELP of inbound delivery also but  of no use .
Any hindsights on this both funtionally or tecnically will be of great help.
    Thanks and regards,
    Jothiswaran.
    Edited by: A. Jothiswaran . on Nov 12, 2009 8:32 PM

    Hello,
To my knowledge packing through MIGO is not possible.
If your SLOC is HU managed and you have done the configuration of u201Cdefault value of delivery and HU requirementu201D
SPROLGHandling Unit ManagementBasicMaterial managementInventory managementsecond option, then your issue will be solved.
In this case, when you post the MIGO with all information you will get IBD delivery number and not material document number. After that you can pack the material in IBD
    Thanks

  • Inbound DESADV doesn't pack inbound delivery

I'm using in inbound IDOC (basic type DESADV01 / message type DESADV) to create Inbound deliveries. This IDOC contains packing information in segment(s) E1EDP08. This packing information however is not processed; the resulting inbound delivery is not packed.
In the partner profile I used process code DESA to process the IDOC. This process code is linked to Function Module 'IDOC_INPUT_DESADV'. If I look in this FM all code regarding segment E1EDP08 is commented. That must be the reason why the inbound delivery is not packed. Does anybody know if there is any other standard SAP functionality to create inbound deliveries that are packed.
    Kind regards, Dick.

    Hi Dick,
just one additional hint as we had recently such problems :
It my happen that DESADV creates an inb.del <b>w/o</b> packing the HUs (idoc status is 'yellow' instead of 'red'). To avoid this OSS #912470 is the solution.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
if goods receipt is carried out within inbound delivery (with transaction vl32n), you should set the flag for 'Goods receipt relevancy' and 'GR assignment' under the confirmation control key customizing (T163G-WEREL and T163G-WEZUO).
You could also check note 199703 for more information.
