I have a problem.
After editing a film and exporting to DVD studio Pro, I burned the files to DVD.
The file on the DVD is HVDVD_TS, it won't play in my Imac G5 isignt or any DVD player, but will play in my Macbook Pro (why is this)and a friends brand new Imac. Whats my Imac G5 isight missing?
How should the files have been imported and burnt from DVD Studio?
In DVD studio i've changed from HD to SD in preferences but in Inspector, it won't let me go from HD to SD.
Any help would be very very much appreciated.

You are making an HD DVD and not an SD DVD.
If you start a project as HD, or switch the project from SD to HD, you cannot change back to SD and will need to do the DVD over.
Check preferences and make sure new projects start as SD...

HVDVD_TS found in build location? What? I don't understand. Can't burn DVD!

This is the warning I get when I press the burn button:"The Build Location folder contains a HVDVD_TS folder(HD DVD content). You must remove the HVDVD_TS folder from the Build Location in order to proceed with Build/Format of a Standard DVD project."
I don't know what's it's telling me. I don't know where this folder is. I used spotlight, and nothing.
I'm trying to burn a regular DVD, and I can't do it. The movie itself is only 30 seconds and according to DVD SP only 46.1 MB is being used up for this project.
Anyway. Please help if you can

With earlier version of DVDSP 4, it would allow you to create a mixed disc--containing HD-DVD and SD DVD folders. The latest specs for HD-DVD doesn't support that mixing, so the latest version of DVDSP won't allow you to create such a folder (with both HD and SD folders inside). It's asking you to remove the HD-DVD video_ts folder first, before you build your SD folder.

VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS folder files not included in final disc

I'm trying to burn an HD DVD project and after the compile completes successfully I get a string of error messages in the Log telling me that the .BUP, .IFO, .EVO, .LAY files found in VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS folder will not be included in the final disc. When I try to play the finished disc in a regular set-top DVD player it doesn't play. (It will play in an Apple Computer)
I can't figure out how to fix this.

I don't know why you are getting those errors. Maybe someone else will come along and help with that.
You are still using a media that has a very small range of options to play. I would start a new SD DVDSP project and take things from there.

DVD SP Only burns HVDVD_TS

I know this has been asked before and I have read and tried all the solutions to the best of my ability, but the end product always comes out the same.
I have gone into my DVD SP preferences and under the project menu made sure the "DVD Standard" was set at "SD DVD"
I have also made sure the "Inspector" shows the "DVD Standard" set at "SD DVD" when the "Disc" in the "Outline" menu is selected.
Am I missing a step that may have been skipped over?

I was completely starting a new project. I was also closing the program out and clearing the caches in my library. I did that between 7-8 times.
I finally tried it again and I did nothing different, but it made a SD DVD.
However I ran into another problem because I was told my video bitrate was too high.
I tried to to lower the bitrate in DVD SP preferences several times closing the project clearing the caches again, but it wouldn't work. I then gave in and went back into Compressor and exported the video again at a lower bit rate... It worked!!!!
However the video quality was very poor the reds are overwhelming in the skin tones and the highlights are distorted. The exact same problem I ran into try to burn using Toast.
So I have gone back into Compressor and exporting the video again at a higher bitrate and I also went further in the options and decreased the reds in the highlights, mids, and shadows and decreased the contrast. Something I certainly didn't want to do after spending so much time color correcting in Color and blindly making those adjustments...
Is there a better way?
The HVDVD_TS files looked great! I could play them on my laptop and screened it on my TV and it looked great!
How can I get this to work for me?!?! I have spent over 3 days now exporting and trouble shooting with DVD SP.

I am exporting a movie that was shot in DVCPRO HD 720p24n
Edited: Final Cut Pro 6.0.6
Color Correction: Color
Audio Mix: Pro Tools
Exporting: Compressor ("DVD Best Quality 90min" MPEG-2 and the audio as a AIFF 48khz 24bit) bitrate was set at 5mbps and max at 5.6mbps. I'm now exporting it with a bitrate of 5.6mbps with a max of 6mbps. (because I don't know how high I can go and don't want too move up too fast and have a worthless export that tells me the rate is too high)

Get Front Row to play from HVDVD_TS folder

How can I get Front Row to play content from a HVDVD_TS folder. It works great with standard VIDEO_TS folders (under Leopard/Snow Leopard) but it doesn't seem to recognise my DVD Studio Pro generated HVDVD_TS folder.

I have the same problem with remote control device (infrared) and FrontRow as many other users, see links below.
And yes, I have tried all the described "remedies", but the problem is still there.
The problem is that after boot, FrontRow reacts to the remote ok (about 10-15 minutes), but then
FrontRow stops responding to remote control commands. However, FrontRow can be controlled by keyboard
commands all the time. If iMac is now booted, the problem is still there. The only way I have had FrontRow
and remote work ok (for 10-15 mins) is shutting down iMac, waiting an hour or so, and then booting it. I'm just
wondering is this hardware problem (related to e.g. temperature ?), problem with FrontRow itself, or problem with
related daemons. Anyway, I hope that this is sw problem, and Apple could fix quite soon in next FrontRow or Mac OS X
update. Otherwise, I'm 100% sure to replace my iMac because of this stupid little bug (that seemed to be the only
working remedy).

DVDSP creates HVDVD_TS folder - disk won't play

When I attempt to create a DVD I get one that will play on my Mac but not in a standard DVD player - I've tried several. DVDSP creates a disk with one folder - HVDVD_TS containing .BUP and .EVO and .IFI files.
A start with Final Cut Pro with files either created in Compressor or QuickTime. I have tried h.264, Apple ProRes 422, or straight to MPEG2.

You created a HD DVD disc, which only plays in some (now defunct) HD DVD players. To create a disc that will play in standard DVD players, you must create a SD DVD.
In your Outline, click on your disc then look at the Inspector. Under the General tab change your setting from HD DVD to SD DVD.

It sounds like you previously tried to build a High Definition project which created that HVDVD_TS folder.
Using the Finder, navigate to where you are trying to save the current build and remove that folder, or build to a new location.

DVDSP4 creating HVDVD_TS instead of Video_TS! Help!

I'm used to iDVD and it created Video_TS, Audo_TS and all I had to do was 'Toast' it as UDF format and the resulting DVDs played just fine on commercial DVD players. I'm dipping my toe in DVDSP4 and this project of mine creates HVDVD_TS and the 'Toasted' DVD wouldn't play on my LG brand DVD player but the .IMG file plays on Apple DVD Player just fine. Help! How do I make DVDSP4 output only Video_TS, Audio_TS like iDVD? Thanks in advance!

And the bad news is that you cannot change the preferences for a project that you have already created. You have to open DVD SP, change the preferences, then start recreating your disc as a new project.

DVD Studio Pro HVDVD_TS

DVD Studio Pro 4.2.1 insists on creating an HVDVD_TS folder when burning a DVD. I have checked everything at least 10 times and all is SD, in fact I have never burned an HD DVD. I am trying to get this DVD out to a client and must get this resolved. I have followed all of suggestions on the discussion board that I have the patience to read, including deleting the HVDVD_TS folder (5 times now) and the burn keeps recreating the HVDVD folder. I have been making DVDs for years and now suddenly I get this issue. Anyone know whats up? I am at a total loss for a solution.

Started over from scratch, after deleting the HVDVD folder. Now DVD Studio Pro appears to be creating a VTS folder instead of a HVDVD folder. What happened in the last 2 months to cause this? Was there a buggy DVDSP upgrade or something?

Can I go from a HVDVD_TS to FCP ?

A friend of mine gave me a Disk with a HVDVD_TS on it. I can read the disk OK on my computer. The menu active, but I can't read it with my DVD/BD player.
Is there a way to get back a file from that disk, in a format such that I wold be able to either burn directly a BD or go via FCP ?

You can very well do this IF your computer is supported.
Your Mac must be one of the following models:

I need to burn the dvd or i will lose money what i am i doing wrong? I have this folder HVDVD_TS but DVD pro isn't burning it. How can i make it work to burn. Here are the files with in the folder:

I have had the same problem.
All I have left of an old video project of mine, was the HVDVD_TS folder and so I desperately needed to find a way to make i viewable. There was no help to find on the internet, it seems DVD Studio Pro is shamefully neglegting all the people they have left off with unusable HD dvd formats of their work.
I found one way to get the material onto a regular dvd using Roxio Toast (I have version 8) I simply clicked the video_dvd option on the left hand menu and drag & dropped the HVDVD_TS folder into the window. When I clicked the "burn" button it first transcoded and then burned the dvd and it works fine on a regular dvd player.

DVD Studio Pro Burning HVDVD_TS File Disk

I have been having trouble burning a HD DVD from DVD Studio Pro. It continues to burn a data disk with the HVDVD_TS files instead of a DVD with a menu to play in a DVD player. What am I doing wrong?

Don't do this. Why? Because HD DVD lost out to BluRay in the high def DVD wars (like Betamax lost to VHS back in the day). The only devices that will play those DVDs are Toshiba HD DVD players that have been discontinued for about 4 years. And Macs with Superdrives. That's it. Regular DVD players won't play them, BluRay players won't play them.
If you want high def DVDs, you're going to have to invest in a BluRay burner, and software that will author BluRay disks, like Toast. Compressor will author BluRay, to regular DVDs no less (so I hear), but they have to be under 10 min. And then those will only work in BluRay players.

DVD Stuio Pro (V4) and HVDVD_TS

I´m trying to burn and DVD playable atd homes DVD Players.
In my preference, first of all I do, it´s select "SD DVD".
I select a menu template, and just add one bout for a QT Movie
When I burn it, always (and ALWAYS Is ALWAYS) make HVDVD_TS folders. What`s wrong? Is DVD SP assuming some olde settings I was just trying?

You need to start all over again. Select SD DVD, and then start to create your disc.

Looks like you are making an HD DVD...a format that lost the high def disc wars. Only Macs with Superdrives and discontinued JVC HD DVD decks can play this format.
You need to make an SD DVD...I'll post the steps for that in a bit. If you want a high definition disc, you'll need a BluRay burner, and software like TOAST to burn it.

Shane's Stock Answer #42 - David Roth Weiss' Secret Quick and Dirty Way to Author a DVD:
The absolute simplest way to make a DVD using FCP and DVDSP is as follows:
1. Export a QT movie, either a reference file or self contained using current settings.
2. Open DVDSP, select the "graphical" tab and you will see two little monitors, one blue, one green.
3. Select the left blue one and hit delete.
4. Now, select the green one, right click on it and select the top option "first play".
5. Now drag your QT from the browser and drop it on top of the green monitor.
6. Now, for a DVD from an HD source, look to the right side and select the "general tab" in the track editor, and see the Display Mode, and select "16:9 pan-scan."
7. Hit the little black and yellow burn icon at the top of the page and put a a DVD in when prompted. DVDSP will encode and burn your new DVD.
THATS ALL!!!
NOW...if you want a GOOD LOOKING DVD, instead of taking your REF movie into DVD SP, instead take it into Compressor and choose the BEST QUALITY ENCODE (2 pass VBR) that matches your show timing. Then take THAT result into DVD SP and follow the rest of the steps. Except you can choose "16:9 LETTERBOX" instead of PAN & SCAN if you want to see the entire image.

Disc Image will not mount after format

I am trying to create a disc image from DVD Pro so that I can burn the final project at a low speed to avoid burn errors. Whenever I try to burn the image to DVD in Disc Utility it says that the file is not recognized. I have even tried to start the project from scratch and still am getting the same error message. Another weird thing that DVDSP is doing that is odd is when I am build and format, the log shows a ton of error messages saying that random files will not be included on the final DVD. Please help, I cannot figure oout what I am doing wrong.

These are standard wraning. Nothing to take care about.
After deleting the old build empty your trash and try again. If DVDSP ask to reuse, you must be building to another location than where you think. Check that.
