HVX 200 720PN to open timeline settings with FCP 7 settings?

I have been shooting in DVCPRO HD 72030 pn for the last few gigs. I think I am doing everything right, but this is driving me nuts. First I have to injest on my MBP then move the clips to my 8 core. I have the remove extra frames box checked as default, bu that shouldn't make a difference.
Anyway, I set my new session in FCP to 720 30p. When I drag any clip to the timeline the open timline dialog box shows up and wants to reset the timeline for the clip. I really don't get why I keep getting this error. Do I have to have a pn codec installed that I missed? What setting for the sequence to I need so I can drop in a DVCPRO 720 30pn clip without getting the dialog error? I have tried everything.
It is also my new year's resolution to learn all my codecs and how to optimize FCP 7

I once had FCExpress. Not any more.
I´ve all FCExpress projects and all the media stored on an external FW hard drive.
Can I open this projects now with FCP and save them as new FCP Projects in order to use and preserve this works?

You can open FCE projects with FCP. You will not be able to open the updated projects from FCP on FCE.
Just do a "Save As..." to make a copy.

Suddenly find I can't open timeline window in FCP 7 project

It's unprotect I've worked on several times over a week or so, but suddenly, when I go to open it the timeline won't open, and it is greyed out in the menu.
What's up with that?

Double-click a Sequence in the Browser to open the Timeline window.

Opening DVD drive with FCP Ez keyboard

Can anyone tell me how to open the DVD drive on a G5 with a MacAlly ExKeyboard (for Final cut pro)? There is no 'Eject' button, and I don't know how else to get the door to open.

Hello out there.
Does anyone ust the Panasonic HVX 2000 and I-Movie 6.0.2?
And if you are using an HVX 200 have you also married it with the Firestore-FS-100?
If so can you help me import DVD-Pro 50 and or dvc-pro HD,
Presently, I am not having much luck.
I am on a IMAC G5 1.5 gigs of ram and am running OS X 10.4.6

No Video with FCP HDV with QTP

I have a strange question....
I have an Intel G5 iMac (10.4.11) and I capture and edit with FCP 5.0.4 using a Sony Z1 using the HDV 1080i50 sequence (I live in Hong Kong) I edit the video and export Quicktime movie using my sequence preset HDV 1080i50.
I cannot play the exported video with QTP!!
I hear sound but there is no picture. I only have a white screen!!
I can open this video with FCP and it plays fine!!
I can then take this exported video and transfer it to my G5 dual core tower (10.4.11) and the video plays fine in QTP!
I would really like to be able to use QTP to play these videos! Both the iMac and G5 tower have the exact OSX and FCP. The only difference is one is Intel and the other is PPC! Has anyone had problems playing HDV videos on intel macs?
Any ideas or suggestion?

I've re-installed FCP Studio and the problem still persists....

Loss of Audio when opening Motion project in FCP

I have a 2 minute video I put together in Motion. When I then open the file with FCP the video looks great but the audio is not exported. When I save the file I state to save both audio and video. Any suggestions?

Fatal error shoooting 108024p with HVX-200?

Hello again,
i shot with the HVX-200 in 108024p.
FCP 5.1.4 sees it as 108060i on import.
I tried a REVERSE TELECINE to 24p in Cinema Tools per the suggestion of another forum member and it SEEMED to work but I don't completely trust my eye.
Could anybody else provide a work-around to this issue?
Would upgrading to FCP 6 make any difference?
I am in need of serious help and couldn't find anything when i searched the forums.

I see that you are having issues installing the printer, you are getting a fatal error after connecting the USB cable. I would like to help you out today.
Please follow the steps below to see if we can get you up and running.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Run the uninstall from the CD.
Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.
Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Download, save and then run the latest drivers. Don't Connect the USB cable until prompted during the install.
HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Drivers.
Right after connecting the USB cable, follow this document immediately so you won't get the Fatal error again. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. After this is done the installation should continue.
Test the printer.
Then you will have to go back and enable the startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Please let me know the results.

FCP6 troubles with wrong timeline settings

I have several timelines and one of them is set up all wrong. The aspect ratio is wrong. If i copy the video from the timeline (apple+c and paste) and throw them in the timeline which is set up in the right way why the video files are still in the wrong aspect ratio? There's nothing wrong with files cause if I start all over again the aspect ratio is right.
I've also tried to change manually the wrong timeline settings to the right ones but it doesn't seem to work either. Could someone know how to help me?
Videos are dvcproHD and I'm running FCP6.

Well... basically unclear about mnost of it. Try some specifics. Sequence settings for example. Keep in mind if you create universal sequence settings in preferences, they only take effect in sequences mada AFTER the change. To change an existing sequence, use the sequence pulldown at the top.

2 hvx 200 shoot with 4 firestores what is transfer time of firestore to mac

2 hvx 200 shoot with 4 firestores. Firestores are 100gb models. Transfer will be done with macbooks 2.0 2gb ram, macbook pros 2.xx 2gb ram, and a possible powerbook g4 ????processor, ??ram. How longshould it take in your experiences to transfer a pretty full drive 80-99gbs hypotheticallt ro any of these machines.

No we did not have a shortage of HD space we had two cpu, 4 firestores for a couple hr concert. The firestores ended up taking 1.5 closer 2 hrs to download. We lost 1 camera for 20-30 minutes due to lack of firestore space.We probably would of been fine except one of the firestores was acting funky. That is one of the drawbacks of being low budget. We should of had 6 firestores but $ is a reality and a pain. Overall though things went quite well. We recorded timecode via wireless to the cameras and and audio to a 744t and DV40 fostex and will be syncing it at Sony tomorrow. I'm sure there will bee breaks as wireless is wireless.

Does Premiere Elements support DVCPRO-HD? How do I ingest and work with HD-footage from HVX-200?

I work with Premiere Elements 11 on a windows PC, and I try to ingest HD-footage from Panasonic HVX-200 Camcorder. Premiere Elements only recognizes thumbnails, but not the footage itself? What do I have to do? Or does Elements only support SD-footage? Do I have to install DVCPRO-HD Codec? Where do I get it then?

Welcome to the forum.
PrE does support HD material, just not all of it.
With DVCPRO HD on P2 media, I am not sure that you will be able to work directly with the media files from your Panasonic in PrE. HVX-200 Scene File Settings

I recently purchased the HVX-200 after 2 years of using the dvx-100a. I was wondering if anyone out there had some good scene file settings that they wouldn't mind sharing. I have made up a few that I have used on the dvx that I like, but they don't seem to translate as well when plugging them in value for value on the hvx. I'm not too fond of the factory presets and wanted to hear any decent success stories. Thanks.

If you are using fcp 5 and up all you have to do is right click in your browser and click on the import panasonic p2. A different window pops up where you can choose which mxf files to import. You can set in and out points and rename the clips. Fcp then converts the files to quicktime.

I have FF Mobile loaded on my Transformer Prime with ICS. I have read through all the tutorials about installing addons but my FF does not have a slide out menu on the right side. So I cannot click on the gear button to open the settings.

I believe this started after the update from 3/13. I remember setting the user agent at some point when i first loaded it. Now I am unable to get to that option.

Update: I have also loaded FF Beta and Aurora and I have the same problem. No way to open the settings menu.

Output to P2 cards on Panasonic HVX 200

When I print to video using the DVC Pro HD Firewire to a Panasonic HVX 200, the audio goes into mono mode, even though the original file is in stereo. I have a big presentation to more than 400 on Friday. Any thoughts about how to fix this? Here's what I've tried:
1. Went to audio/video settings:av devices. The options button doesn't let me make any changes--and shows eight channels of audio. (When I do print to video and select built in audio, it does play on my computer speakers in stereo.)
2. I've also tried to go into User Preferences:audio outputs. The only thing I could change was the grouping (stereo or dual mono) There was an option fo rchanging the outputs to more than 2, but I don't believe that would work.
If I can't I'll probably need to show it as a DVD instead of in high def., which would be very disappointing.

720 pN24 records 24 frames/sec not 29.97 with pull down added. This means there is a longer time between each progressive frame than people who are used to viewing standard video can get a grip on. It can look "stuttery".
Camera movement while recording at cinematic rates requires very smooth, very deliberate moves as well as attention to the shutter settings.
There is a formula (someplace) that relates camera panning movement to field of view to frames per sec to shutter.

"Error: Out of memory" [not able to open timeline or videos in 'Viewer']

Hello all,
I am opening an old project from FCP 4 to Studio 1. The old system used a 'Cinewave' capture card. The new system is AJA Kona. I opened and changed timeline settings for many projects and they worked. This project the option fails. If I open a timeline this appears: "Error: Out of memory". The error also happens when I try to open video in the viewer. I noticed there are some videos in the SD 720x480 format that I am not able to open within FCP. Yet, I see them in Quicktime. I have saved the project with a new name in the current FCP format. All updates are current.
What is the diagnosis?
