HVX shot in 1080i 60fps imported to timeline as 30fps

I'm new to HD but I have most of the workflow figured out however, I tested a shot in 1080i 60 fps and the format and fps checked out as 1080i 60 fps. But when I set the FCP project as DVCPROHD 1080i60 from the Easy set up the clip is imported at 29.xx fps. I'm puzzled by this and am trying to experiment with slo-mo. I've seen a threat about it several months ago but can't find it again. Can anyone help me figure this out?
David

1080i60, to my recollection, means 60 INTERLACED fields...30fps. That camera cannot shoot 1080p60...which would mean 60 frames per second at 1080p. No, to get the variable frame rate, you need to shoot 720p60...that is 60 frames per second.
The camera cannot shoot 60 frames per second at 1080.

  • Encore CS3 Is Stuck Importing As Timeline from Premiere CS3

    I just purchased CS3 as an upgrade from CS2 and Exported to Encore from Premiere CS3. I've gotten to the screen that says Importing at Timeline and have been at 49% progress for over 30 minutes. The .m2V, .m2v.xmpses, .wav, and .xmp files were all created but I'm stuck here with the Import.
    I'm running on a Windows XP SP2, 4 GB RAM, 2 Dual Core processors machine. I loved CS2. It worked great but there have been multiple problems with CS3.
    Please help with Encore.
    Thanks

    This is aimed a Premiere Pro, but may help - First, work through the steps here http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
    If your problem isn't fixed, report back with the DETAILS asked for in the 15 questions at the end of that link... for question #1 you may use the FREE http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
    Also, try exporting an AVI from Premiere, and see if that will import into Encore

  • Import a timeline

    I started a project in 4:3 and created a timeline.  I meant to create the project in widescreen.  Is there a way to change the project to widescreen or do i need to start over.  and if I have to start over, can I import the timeline from the 4:3 project?  I know I can import the project itself but that only loaded the clips and media elements, not the timeline.

    Make a new sequence in widescreen (assuming your source footage is widescreen).
    Copy footage from 4;3 sequence into this new sequence. Done.
    I'm not quite sure if this can be done in CS3, cant test it anymore.
    But if not: make new project in widescreen and import old project into this new project.

  • 1080i P2 imports resized?

    Hello there,
    I am sorry if this is a stupid question. I have been importing footage shot to a P2 card on my Panasonic HD camera at the highest quality 1080i 24P setting and once it is imported I check the properties of the quicktime file and the size is 1280x1080. I was under the impression that the full size would be 1920x1080. Why is it coming in so much smaller? Is there some setting I'm missing?
    Thank you very much and again, sorry if this is stupid!
    - Fredo

    That camera shoots 81 different formats...and HD is plenty confusing.
    And that camera has a lot of hidden settings and stuff. Get the HVX Bootcamp book by Barry Green...look for it at Amazon.com.
    And this DVD:
    http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=74261
    Concerning those field artifacts, that might be the 3:2 pulldown. 1080p24 is a 60 frame format if I am not mistaken...59.94. Not sure if there is a 1080p 24PN setting...that might be 720p only.

  • Can I shoot slow motion on HVX-200 keeping 1080i/24P without FCP Conversion

    I've been reading many threads, but haven't figured if you can actually shoot true 1080i/24P on my HVX-200 with menu frame rate set to 60fps/shutter 60fps. The times I've tried it shows 24P in the menu frame rate and will not playback on the P2 in true slow motion so I can import into FCP slow motion at 1080i/24P without conversion.
    From everything I've seen it shows it has to be in 720/24P with menu frame rate at 60fps/shutter 60fps which will let it playback on the P2 in slow motion.
    Any suggestions? We want to shoot everything in 1080i/24P but see instant playback in slow motion without conversion mostly for music videos.
    Thanks, Paul

    haven't figured if you can actually shoot true 1080i/24P on my HVX-200 with menu frame rate set to 60fps/shutter 60fps
    You can't. 720p is the only format that is 60fps. 1080i is 30fps.
    From everything I've seen it shows it has to be in 720/24P with menu frame rate at 60fps/shutter 60fps which will let it playback on the P2 in slow motion.
    Correct. You can only shoot in-camera slow motion at 720p60, using the 24p setting. And this is also the way to shoot so you can slow it down later with Cinema Tools or in FCP. It must be 720p60. Again, 1080i is 30fps only. Even 1080p...30fps with DVCPRO HD.
    Any suggestions? We want to shoot everything in 1080i/24P but see instant playback in slow motion without conversion mostly for music videos.
    Sorry, if you want to shoot smooth slow motion, you need to shoot 720p. If you must shoot 1080p, then you need to invest in good post slow-motion options, like Twixtor.

  • How do you export a Premiere Pro screen shot without distortion when importing into Photoshop?

    How can I take a screen shot in Premiere Pro (CS6 or CC) without it becoming distorted? Lately, when doing this, the images are elongated. Then, when I bring the image into Photoshop, it looks fine, except that the Pixel Aspect Ratio has been automatically engaged. I seem to not be able to do anything to the image to correct it and when saved, it goes back to its distorted form. What am I doing incorrectly? What is the fix for this? Is this a Premiere issue or a Photoshop issue? BTW, I posed the same question on the Photoshop forum. SIDE NOTE: I tried to resolve this via a chat session...that was an exercise in futility.
    Thanks!

    The MTS files that I imported into my project are 1080i 29.97 fps, upper field first, 1.0 pixel aspect ratio.
    I tried encoding an AVI with the Lagarith codec with these settings and had better results this time but the frame rate still stuttered.
    I even tried making an MOV with the H.264 setting and had strange results.
    I can make an H.264 MP4 at 1920x1080 with no problem.
    What are the exact settings for an MOV or AVI just in case I missed something?  I really want to have an uncompressed file to archive that can be easily edited later on.  I'm thinking that MOV would be the most flexible format.

  • Video cuts out of frame when importing to timeline :( What to do?

    Hi there!
    So I have my initial video on my timeline and all is well.
    However when I try to import another video with the same frame, it looks like it zooms in because it cuts so much of the frame that I can't even see my face anymore . I even tried viewing it in the preview window on the upper left side (which looks fine) until I drag it in the timeline.
    Photo 1 : This is the initial video
    Photo 2: This is the additional clip that I'm adding that cuts out of frame
    Something I should specify as well is, I recorded audio & video separately and merged them through he merge option that Premiere Pro has but that shouldn't be a problem since I did the same thing with my initial video to sync the audio and it did not cut out of frame.
    I am still new at premiere pro and when I look up tutorials, no one seems to have that problem. Any help?
    Thanks

  • How to set up so that 1920 x 1080  h.264 files don't need to be rendered when importing onto timeline

    Is there a way to set up final cut express to default to the proper settings so that 1920 x 1080 h.246 mov files don't have to be rendered when dropped onto the timeline? It is really not efficient to work on something when it takes hours to render. Thanks

    Thanks Tom,
    Is it the same in fcs? Or does fcs have the capacity to import without render to timeline?
    Appreciate the reply.

  • Encore freezes every time I import a timeline

    Hello,
    I'm no expert whatsoever in Encore. In fact, I'm just beginning to use it to create subtitles in some DVD files.
    When I import my m4v file as an asset everything is okay. However, when I import the same file as a timeline Encore freezes indefinitely and I can't use the program anymore. I have to force quit. I have read some of the other threads about crashes when people try to import timelines but they all seem to come from Windows users. I run Snow Leopard in a Macbook with 2GB of RAM. And the video file I try to import as a timeline is 293 Mb. Is there anybody who could provide me a bit of help with this issue?
    Thanks
    Jo.

    If the CD has different artists or "[artist (ft.another artist}]", and you DON'T ID it as a "Compilation", it will place the tracks in the individual artist folders based on the differences in Artist name.
    However, if you ID it as a "compilation" it will be in your Compilations folder under the album name.

  • RED footage with audio won´t import to timeline anymore?!

    Hello,
    I cannon import any RED footage to the timeline anymore. I can import it with media browser, view it in viewer and make a new comp with it but there is no way to get a clip from the viewer to the timeline. It works fine with RED footage that has no audio.
    I am running 8.2 and this worked fine a week ago...
    Any info?
    Thanks

    So it gets more confusing ...
    I cleared all the .xmp files from a folder, and drag and dropped straight from explorer to the timeline, it all imported !
    So i start do this for a few different folders, seems to be working...
    I then say , well hey ill go back to media browser and try to reimport and organise my file structure the way i like.. all of the sudden it reverts back to audio only, even from win explorer, then i grab 4 clips at once ... it imports them ?
    So, i go back to media my project window, grab 3 files, and it now drops them on the timeline.
    I won't play like I'm understanding the logic here, one would think  spanning clips or somthing but it seems much more random
    Though, if in the future anyone has this problem, try draggin more than 1 clip at a time in and see if that gets you going.
    ADOBE : Can you please shed some light on this, although i have figured a strange work around, this means i cannot use the source window like a usual workflow and i must actually import everything to the timeline then cut and scrap the rest.

  • H264 MPEG AVI import video timeline problem

    Hi,
    I am a new user of Adobe Premiere CS4.  I am having a problem of importing H264 MPEG AVI files.  I set my project to be HDV 720p 30fps.  I grabbed Gspot and it has identify my video is a H264 codec name H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.  When I import the video I setup the timeline and when I do a playback review in the far left window (default setting).  It play the vido super fast, but the audio is playing normally.  I zoom in the timeline and it seems to think each second is one frame.  So it is playing the video like 30x speed(not 100% on how much faster, just lot).  What am I doing wrong?
    After playing around some more, it looks like the video are keyframes as the time jump from frame to frame is huge, not what it look like in a WMP.  Did I somehow imported and it stripped out the deltas?

    I looked at the thread and tried it, I get this error.

  • Footage goes from progressive to 1080i when dropped in timeline?

    Hi there,
    Please help! When I drop my 25p pro res progressive footage into FCP timeline the sequence settings switch to 1080i??
    This means that i'm having to de-interlace in compresor which looses quality?
    Is this correct?
    Footage from AVCHD to pro res via converter.
    Thanks guys!

    why aren't you using log and transfer?
    But some formats are progressive in a 1080i environment.  When you look at your sequence settings, what is the field dominance?  If it's none, you're probably good to go.
    If you set canvas to 100%, you should see evidence of interlacing if there is any.  Simply step thru your timeline frame by frame.

  • How to play backwards flv imported in timeline on flash cs3?

    Hi guys,
    I want to play backwards imported flv in the timeline of flash cs3 from a current frame. How can I do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Yes, thank you!
    I play it in reverse
    I have made some corrections in the code, I saw the spaces you mentioned, but it was starting to play from the end of the flv. So I have diceded to make it start from the point I like, putting this in the code totalFrames-38 (38 - is the number of frames from the end to the point i liked it to play), also I make tl.visible = true; because it was set on false and it wasn't visible.
    This is the code I used:
    var tl:MovieClip = this;
    tl.visible = true;
    tl.stop();
    tl.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,preloadF);
    function preloadF(e:Event){
         if(tl.loaderInfo.bytesLoaded == tl.loaderInfo.bytesTotal){
              tl.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,preloadF);
              tl.gotoAndStop(tl.totalFrames-38);
            tl.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,playReverseF);
    function playReverseF(e:Event){
         tl.prevFrame();
    Thank you, again!

  • No shadow on Livetype font after importing on timeline FCE

    Hi,
    I made some basic titles in Livetype. The font has a shadow in the Livetype-project.
    After rendering the titles the shadow is still there. Even after importing the titles in the browser of FCE, the shadow is still there.
    But when I drag the titles to the timeline of FCE, the shadow suddenly disappears! How come?
    Thanks in advance for helping me out.
    O.

    Also strange is this:
    When I open and play the rendered titles from within the browser in the viewer of FCE the shadow is still there. But when I pause the titles, the shadow is gone.
    Once I import the titles in the timeline of FCE, the shadow disappears completely.

  • Scatchy Audio import on timeline from CD

    I wish I could descibe this better.
    I am trying to use music files imported from a CD as an AIFF files at 48 kHz, 16 bit. These songs import into FCE 3.5 perfectly and play perfectly in the Viewer.
    However, when I add any of these AIFF files to my timeline and play it, it sounds terrible: choppy and broken-up.
    I thought that possibly the song file needed rendering in order to make it play properly but there is no red line above the track indicating render requirement. If I try to render it manually it does not need to be rendered.
    Again, these files are captured from the CD as 48 kHtz, 16 bit files. They play perfectly in the Viewer but sound terrible when placed on the timeline.
    Any advice is very appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
    Is there any filter applied on your audio file?
    How many audio tracks in the timeline are used ?
    Try to make an "audio mixdown" in render menu.
    May be a dumb question, by did actually "import" the audio track from CD or just drag it in browser from the CD itself ?
