Hwo Install discoverer 10g administrator

Can some one suggest how to install discoverer 10g administrator.
What are it pre & post requirements?.
Is it required to install discoverer 10g administrator even after installing Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Release 2? If so why?
How we can configure / integarate 10g administrator with
(a) Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
(b )Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i.
I had followed the metalink note 313418.1 and completed all the steps mentioned.
Naveen

Discoverer Administrator needs Windows 2000 or XP or 2003.
You can install it indepedently of Oracle Business Intelligence.
Once you install Disocverer Administrator please browse the Oracle Developer Suite documentation - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_04/doc/dl/bi.htm
These docs should help you in getting started in setting the Discoverer metadata up:

    2. shall i need to install this application server 10g with new user or with root user can i install the software. Please see the installation manual.
In the same link referenced above, click on Documentation tab just next to the Download tab and you find yourself at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/documentation/index.html
Select the version and click on View Library then you will find "Oracle Application Server Installation Guides" under the Setting Started tab.

1 What are the pre-install step it has.
1.1 Is it required to install oracle database as the part of pre-install. Or Discoverer 10g will automataically install oracle database?
2 what are the system requirements?

The best place to begin would be with the documenation library, available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_17/bi.htm
In particular take a look at Ch 2 About Oracle Business Intelligence installations and OracleAS Infrastructures of the Oracle® Business Intelligence Discoverer Configuration Guide, 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.1) for Microsoft Windows and Solaris Operating System (SPARC), B13918-03, available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_17/bi.1012/b13918/toc.htm
Information on the actual installation steps are covered in the Oracle Application Server Quick Installation Guides.
For example, in the Oracle® Application Server Quick Installation Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for Microsoft Windows, Part No B15908-01, look at Ch 7 Installing Portal and Wireless or Business Intelligence and Forms Developer Topology (includes OracleAS Infrastructure), available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_17/win.1012/quickinstall.1012/quickinstall/quick_install.htm#sthref25

  • Installing Discoverer 10g, please help

while I install Discoverer 10g (Business Intelligence Tool 10.1.2) using OUI, it gives error:
Checking temp space: -1 MB available, 150 MB required. Failed
I believe the temp fold in my Windows XP is more than 150 MB and I also tried several times to chnage environment variable and system variable from temp to TMP to use another fold as temp fold. But none of them works.
Would anybody out there help to give a clue ?
    Thanks
    -ian

    ian,
The value of TEMP variable is saved in your hard disk. So if the message you read is that you have 1 MB available that means in the c: partition (normally is this) you don't have enough space. Try to increase the space in this partition or make another variable in another partition of your hard disk where you have more space.
    Hope this helps.
    Alex.

  • What option to select to  install "Discoverer Administrator"

Hi, I installed Infrastructure 10g. Then I installed Business Intelligence and selected two options, discoverer and report services. Now, I cannot have "Discoverer Administrator" option in the Start Menu. I have Plus and Viewer working.
Pls tell me which option I need to select in order to have "Discoverer Administrator" in My PC.
Or tell me what I should keep in mind while installation so that I can have "Discoverer Administrator".

    Hello
You need to download and install Discoverer 10g Developer Suite in order to use the Admin edition. So far you have only installed the web components.

  • Report service is not working after install Discoverer..............

    Hello,
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 (Forms/Reports) on my desktop, they were both working fine for a long time. I installed Discoverer 10gR2 (Administrator and Desktop) on the same machine recently. The Oracle Forms is still good, I can run forms on the local machine after I start OC4J instance. But the Reports is always hanging, even Showjobs. I can access http://host:port/reports/rwservlet, but anything under that is not working, hanging.......
    Please help! Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
The problem may be a PATH problem.
Start the reports server after having set the PATH :

  • Discoverer 10g

We are currently using Discoverer 4i which comes with Oracle E-Business suite currently. We are planning to install Discoverer 10g.
My question is that reports we use will require any regression testing ?
Also, Our understanding is that we cannot run two instances of Discoverer (4i current and 10g future) at a time.
    Please help..
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Rod,
One question .. My client wants to run Both 4i and 10g Discoverer in parallel from same instance to test it.
    Oracle Note:313418.1 says
As we are migrating your Discoverer 4i End User Layer, the upgrade process creates a new Discoverer 10.1.2 End User Layer based the existing Discoverer 4i End User Layer. The existing Discoverer 4i End User Layer remains unchanged. A new schema containing the Discoverer 10.1.2 End User Layer will be created under the same Database User
We are having our 10g discoverer on different node and 4i on E-Business suite node. I think we can use both the instance in parallel. But for using both what changes I need to make? May be I need to set profile at user level to point to 4i?
In your last update you said e-BS menus can only link to one version .. will this cause any issues?
Also we made below changes in EBS Context file to point to new EBS..
    s_disco_standalone     : true
    s_disco_machine     : <10g Discoverer Server Host>
    s_disco_port          : 7779
    s_disco_protocol     : http
    s_disco_ver_comma     : 10,1,2
    s_disco_eul_prefix     : EUL
    s_discostatus          : disabled
I am not sure how I can use both 4i and 10g entries in context file..
    Your input is valuable.
    Thanks in Advance!
    Regards,
    Manish

  • Installing Discoverer with Database Version Oracle 10g Express Edition

    Hello,
Is it possilbe to install Discoverer with database version Oracle 10g Express Edition? I have Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.1.0 on my Windows XP machine as well. If so, can someone please provide me a link to the Discoverer download.
    Regards,
    Kelly

Note that the Personal Edition of the database is 'the most powerful' version, in that it contains all features and options of the Enterprise Edition (expect RAC and Enterprise Manager packs)
As such, the Personal Edition, at a mere USD$400-500 is one of the most cost effective for-fee products that Oracle has in it's inventory. It is targeted at the developer. And it comes with the complete set of Sample Data, whereas XE has a very limited subset (since it does not support all functionality).
Express Edition is indeed free, but it is not supported, and can not be patched. OTOH it does have a lighter footprint.
Again, I am not sure whether Disco 11g is compatible with Express Edition. (It's on my schedule for December ...)

  • Discoverer 10g installed with Ora Apps 11i on same box

I've worked through the "coexistence restrictions" for Discoverer 10g (9.0.4) and 9iR1 (1.0.2.2.x) which states:
"The following instances of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) and Oracle9i Application Server Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) can coexist on the same computer only after Oracle9iAS Discoverer has been shutdown in the Oracle9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) Oracle home:
1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g
1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g"
Does this imply that I can install 11i on a box, permanently shut down Discoverer and then ON THE SAME BOX install 10g Infrastructure and Midtier including Discoverer 10g?
Has anyone worked through this installation and made it work?
    Thanks

This IS possible and have now done it with assist from Oracle tech support.
    1. Install 64-bit 10.2.0.1 Databse into OraDb_home.
    2. Install 32-bit 10.2.0.1 Client (needs Windows ODBC extensions) into OraClient_home.
    3. Apply patch 5500954 for 64-bit - this is a Critical Bug patch 8 for 64-bit.
    4. Apply patch 5337014 for 32-bit - this is a patchset to upgrade the Client to 10.0.2.0.3.
    5. Contrary to what Oracle note 334528.1 says (which is to patch the 64-bit Server, you must patch/upgrade the 32-bit client as well (otherwise, it still fails).
Also, DataDirect's Connect Ver 5.2 ODBC Oracle "wire-driver" (32-bit version) will work without installing the OraClient at all.

  • Possible have IDs instead of names in queries - Discoverer 10g (10.1.2)?

    Hi all,
In EUL I have defined folders: Time, Product, Customer, Sales. In dimensions
    folders I have as follows:
    - Time -> Day_Id, Day_Name, Day_Date, Mnth_Id, Mnth_Name, Mnth_Date;
    - Products-> Prod_Id, Prod_Name, Tot_Prod_Id, Tot_Prod_Name
    - Customers: Cust_Id, Cust_Name, Grp_Cust_Id, Grp_Cust_Name, Tot_Cust_Id,Cust_Tot_Name
All Id and Date items are "user invisible", only _Name items are marked as
"user visible" and may be chosen by Disco end-users.
In facts folders Sales I have:
    - Sales -> Time_Id, Prod_Id, Cust_Id (<- user invisible), Gross_Rev, Net_Rev,Quantity, Quantity_Kg.
When I create a report (either from Discoverer Plus or Discoverer Desktop) by names (available from selector) in
generated select statement I can see (in simplified version, but meaning still the same):
    SELECT TIME.MNTH_NAME, PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME, SUM(SALES.QUANTITY)
    FROM SALES, PRODUCTS, TIME o
    WHERE SALES.TIME_ID=TIME.ID AND SALES.PROD_ID=PRODUCTS.ID
    AND TIME.MNTH_NAME IN ('M-03-2004','M-04-2004','M-05-2004')
    AND (PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME IN ('000029 - PROD1','000030 - PROD2)
    GROUP BY TIME.MNTH_NAME,PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME;
which is not good for me because of MNTH_NAME, PROD_NAME in select, where and group by phrases of query - I need there to be MNTH_ID, PROD_ID instead of those names. Is it possible that Discoverer generates such a query instead of written above:
    SELECT TIME.MNTH_ID, PRODUCTS.PROD_ID, SUM(SALES.QUANTITY)
    FROM SALES, PRODUCTS, TIME o
    WHERE SALES.TIME_ID=TIME.ID AND SALES.PROD_ID=PRODUCTS.ID
    AND TIME.MNTH_ID IN (21,22,23)
    AND (PRODUCTS.PROD_ID IN (234,456,55)
    GROUP BY TIME.MNTH_ID,PRODUCTS.PROD_ID;
I tried to use "indexed items" functionality as recommended in Disco
Administrator Guide, so that Disco can do mapping NAME-ID behind the scene, but it doesn't work - queries are still the same and explain plans are poor.
How to force Discoverer to use IDs instead of names in selects?
    Regards,
    MKF

    Hi Asim,
The instructions for integrating Discoverer with IDM/Portal are in the Discoverer doc listed above. Most people shutdown the Discoverer 4i server, upgrade the EUL to 10g, then install the 10g Discoverer software and configure the apps to use it. Details are all in the doc.
    1. Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
1.1. Install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1)
You must install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1) on a standalone server or in a separate ORACLE_HOME on an existing application tier server node. Follow the instructions in the Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for your operating system platform.
1.2. Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms
You must install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) installation type Business Intelligence and Forms in a seperate ORACLE_HOME from the previously installed OracleAS Infrastructure. During installation of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms you will be prompted for Oracle Internet Directory details. Please provide your Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Infrastructure hostname and port number as configured in step 1.1.
