Volume levels in logic pro X keep jumping up to  5.2 and  5.0 by itself. There are no plugins nor automation activated on tracks? how can i stop the track levels from jumping?
What do i do to avoid this?

I and the same problem and neither of these fixes solved it. Defintely not a controller problem as guessed.
The problem was solved by going to the step editor - similar to automation - but more hidden, and also taking place in the track at a point that I had trimmed out that heppened before the beginning of the composition.
I solved the problem by going into the step editor of the track and deleting the bar in the volume track that kept setting it, and not showing up as an automation curve.
I found this problem infuriating ,I really hope this solution helps.

  • Strange volume problem on Logic pro 8.0.2

Hey, I've been having this weird problem for a while and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. Basically, I start a new project lay down some audio tracks as well as software tracks and everything works fine. Then randomly, when I open a new audio track the volume is all screwed up.
I'll explain, when I play into it normally it comes out at normal volume, however when I record it plays back at a volume so low it's barely audible. Other things I've noticed is that the volume on the mixing desk no longer has any affect on the volume of my sound on that track, also soloing the track makes it play at the volume that it comes out when recorded (i.e almost silent). -(this problem then occurs on every audio track I open afterwards)
1.I've also got a list of things I know it's not. I know it's not my sound card because I've used two different ones and the problem re occurs.
2.I know it's not my computer because it happens on both my lap top and my desk top.
3.I know it's nothing to do with the speakers, or FX pedals I'm using.
Theres no difference between the way I'm opening the new track and the way I have opened previous ones (that worked fine) in the project. Oh yeah, and the most weird thing is I after the problem occurs it happens on every new track I open.
So at the moment audio tracks 1, 2 and 3 all work fine. But I've tried opening more and more tracks and all of them have this problem.
Someone please help, it's bloody infuriating when I'm half way through a song. Thank you very much.
    Alex

There are separate volume settings for a track when it's record-enabled and when not (the same fader).
This is so that you can have different relative volumes during recording to help you play the part, without affecting the mix you've already set up for playback.
Could it be that this is tripping you up?

  • Can't precisely control volume faders in Logic Pro 8

Whenever I drag a volume fader up or down the value is changed by more than .1 db. I have no idea why this is happening and is incredibly frustrating when trying to achieve a specific level. Even if I physically enter the value it will resort to the closest level. This can't be a default on the program, help!!!

Try holding shift or option or control while dragging the fader, I can't remember which, this should give you a finer adjustment.

  • Can't sync Digi 002 as an interface for Logic Pro 7

I discovered Logic about a year after I had already purchased a Digi 002, and have been using it as my interface for Logic Express for about 6 months.  No problems.  I upgraded to Logic Pro 7 last month and now get only garbled sound and the following error message. "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi.  Sample rate 88215 recognized.  Check conflict between Logic and External Device."
I am trying to run Logic Pro 7.  I still also use Pro Tools LE version 7.0 which runs fine.  I can play itunes songs, Garage Band, movies, Pro Tools songs, etc., no problem, but not Logic Pro, or Logic Express.
When I switch to Built In Audio, Logic Pro works fine through the tiny built in speaker, but trying to use the Digi 002 as my interface all the sound comes out garbled.
I have been pulling out my hair for weeks.  Any help would be much appreciated.

That is what I'm running, and it works great. Give it a shot. You can do a search on this forum, or on the Apple Support section of the website, and search for that term (Pro Application Support).
Yes I have learned my lesson with auto update.  Live and learn.
Yes. Remember, a DAW machine is NOt a regular computer you can do whatever with. Audio software and hardware are finicky creatures that don't play nice if you're messing with their operating system willy-nilly.
I spoke with the Apple Store people today as well.  They suggest I spend $100 and sign up for one on one support and bring the whole **** set up in to the store and let them work on it. Seeing as how I am using a G5 tower, and we are talking about a digi 002 board, that is going to be alot of fun to lug across the mall.   I am just about that desperate though.  Any thoughts on one on one support in store?
LOL!!! they just want your money, and will most defniintely screw up your system. They'll update wrong, install stuff you don't want, and re-configure your system to THEIR liking. Stay away from the genius Bar. When it comes to Pro audio, they really know little or nothing. As an example, I went to my local Apple store recently and asked for a copy of Logic Pro. the helpful guy there responded "Logic what? we don't have that kind of software here."
    Thanks for the help.  Again.
You're welcome. Hopefully soon you'll have it up and running.

  • Logic Pro X 10.0.7 Won't Open

I have a volume license for Logic Pro X for my classroom. On several of my computers, the program will start with the "Have you used Logic" before screen and then immediately quits. Ideas?

Are all your computers running the appropriate version of OS X? (10.8.4 or later for LPX)
Did you install LPX correctly on all the computers along with the essential content that is installed upon  first running LPX?
How did you install LPX on each computer? Did you just copy the app into the Applications folder for each Mac or did you install via some other method like the MDM/DEP systems Apple provides?
Failing this, contact Apple directly and ask for their assistance....

  • Logic Pro X keeps sending C0 notes to midi out when record is armed on a audio track

I have a annoying problem with Logic Pro X, which I bought a month ago. Here's al little scenario that describes the problem.
I disconnect my audio interface, so that Logic Pro has to rely on my MacBook Pro's internal audio. This way I exclude my RME-FF800 from being of any influence.
I start up the Midi Monitor tool, to analyse what comes out of Logic; MIDI-wise.
I start up Logic set up a small test project in Logic Pro X, that contains:1 audio track
There's little button on the audio track with a red-colored "R". This is the button to "arm" this track for recording audio.
I push the little "R" button, the R-character turns white, the button as a whole turns red. The button starts blinking.
From this moment on Logic starts sending MIDI messages ....... huh?  Every second or so ... a low C.
In my regular studio setup this means that I hear a low repeated note coming out of my piano, every time I record audio.  How annoying!!
By the way ... a Guitar/Bass track has the same problem. All the other track types (External midi, software instrument, drummer) don't have this problem.
Help is deeply appreciated, because it drives me crazy and if I can't fix this .... I think I have to return to my previous DAW-of-choice (Cubase 7.5).

The note is likely being sent out because of a Control Surface you have installed or used.... be it a hardware keyboard, controller or even an ipad controller app... such as Logic Remote or TouchOSC for example... or even an iOS software synth app that is sending midi over wireless....
So.. first make sure you have force quit any iPad/iPhone Logic/midi related apps and not just closed them..
Then if that doesn't fix things.. delete Logic's CS preferences... and Logic's own user preferences too...as described here..
    Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
Do not forget to Quit Logic before doing this and then restart the Mac after doing this....

  • Any and all audio that is played back crackles in Logic Pro X

I have an iMac (27 inch, Late 2013) with 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage.
I am running OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.2) and Logic Pro X (version 10.1.0).  I have tried updating them both and from what it looks like they are the latest versions.
The problem is that any type of audio coming from Logic Pro X now crackles.  Originally it only used to do this through my speakers and that was just because I thought my song was too loud.
It is now doing it through my headsets as well even if I play just one note of a software instrument with very low volume
The only thing I have messed with is the I/O buffer size because I heard that could be the problem.  While increasing it to 1024 does lessen the crackle it is still highly noticeable.
Please help.  I've been streaming my production of music but now I can't because it will hurt everyones ears as well as my own.

    Howdy MusicGuy220,
If you are having an issue with audio playback quality, such as your crackling noise, in Logic Pro, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

I am using Logic Pro X. I do not know how to fade the volume at the end of a song or raise / lower the volume in an area of the track. I also have a loud instand volume blip in a portion of a track that I would like to lower or eliminate.

Completely inappropriate, and they all also not help with volume adjustments. Fades will only apply to Audio Regions in the Tracks area: they will not fade out the complete mix unless you first Bounce it, add that to the Tracks area, apply the Fades with the Fade tool, then Bounce in Place (Again).
Much much better to make use of Track automation to take care of Volume adjustments, and to Fade out the end of the song by applying Track Automation to the Output Channel

  • M-Audio 61ES not playing nicely with Logic Pro X!

The 61ES has been doing some really wacky things: I opened it up out of the box for the first time last night and right off the bat the middle octave of notes on the controller were very quiet compared to the high and low notes on the board. It was like the velocity wasn't working properly on those keys or something. The sounds worked fine in Logic when I pencilled them in. But I was too tired to mess around with it more, so went to bed and figured I'd deal with it in the morning. So this morning, the middle octave of keys seems fine, but the middle G just won't play at all. And many of the notes aren't tracking, or playing- especially during fast passages.
I pulled up Pro Tools 10 and the 61ES worked fine. So something is going on between the controller and Logic. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm running it on a MacBook Pro with 10.8.5. And the latest version of Logic Pro X- 10.0.6. Thanks for any advice!

  • I was working on numerous songs in Logic Pro 9, and for some reason 2 of the songs would not bounce. I get an error message: Error in parameter list / Not an existing volume, and no default volume / Bad positioning information / Bad drive number

I was doing some minor editing in Logic Pro 9.1.8, like adding some plug-ins to audio and midi tracks on numerous songs. Most of the songs I had no problem bouncing. For some reason 2 of the songs I tried to bounce kept showing me this error message:
"Error in parameter list / Not an existing volume, and no default volume / Bad positioning information / Bad drive number" result code=-50.
The songs open and play fine, but won't let me bounce. I've worked with Logic for a few years and this has never happened. Any suggestions?

Fixed! Ran disk utilities and repaired my external HD.

  • Using a drawing tablet with Logic Pro, esp. for hyperdraw?

Is anybody using a drawing tablet, such as the Wacom Graphire 4, with Logic Pro? I am particularly interested to hear whether a tablet makes inputting hyperdraw data easier.
    Thanx and cheers,
    Vincent

Yeah, it changes everything — from selecting menu items, to turning knobs or moving sliders. You'll never go back... This is due to the fact that pointing and clicking are merged into one gesture, like playing a piano key takes care of selecting both the pitch and the velocity.
Be sure you get a small model though, not the big one that they use with Photoshop...
I find it indispensable whatever the kind of application I'm using, be it a text processor or an audio editor, whenever precise selection or action is required — to the point that I feel awkward when I'm forced to use a mouse.
By the way, people who are used to using trackballs feel the same — but this isn't true for track-pads.

  • How to increase Volume in Logic Pro X without distorting?

I just recenlty converted to a MacBook Pro. I have Logic Pro X and I've noticed when I load in my Steven Slate Drummer 4, when I click on the drums they are correct volume, but playback makes them VERY quiet, along with everything else I record whether it be guitar or vocals. I NEVER had this problem with any other DAWs and I've used the same method, everyone is saying to use a Limiter, but I find this adds some distortion and makes everything sound terrible. It also barely raises the volumes, I would appreciate all help, I am currently running a home studio and I am recording several artists and really need to figure out how to make the volume normal, I've added compressors on every track to make everything a little loader but it still doesn't compare to what other DAWs put out, however spending $200 I would like to learn and continue with Logic, thanks!

That's a little odd !! Not quite sure why that wouldn't work… You have assigned your sound to the output track rather than an audio track, but that shouldn't stop it working.
On the other hand, I wouldn't have done it like that at all
I would select the midi track to convert and do a "Bounce in place".
With the default settings, Logic will create a new track with the bounce on it. You can manipulate this new bounce as you please
    Have fun
