Hyper-V Integration Services - DriverPackage or Application

Hello SCCM community,
currently we are deploying the Driver for Hyper-V Integration Services (Windows6.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x64.cab) as Driver Package. The deployment is OK. But if I look into Device Manager the drivers are not digitally signed. This is somehow
strange.
Deploying via DISM will result in same issue.
I did then a research and found out that the package can be deployed via Application by using the MSI file. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dd58b4cf-a954-4525-9a05-a84ebb073002/install-integration-components-hyperv-30-with-sccm-2012?forum=configmanagergeneral
I tested the installation via MSI it works fine and the Device Manager is not complaining about not signed drivers.
Do you face the same issue? Are you also deploying via Application?
Many thanks in advance.
Guitarman

Ok, guys I did like described in the link. I used the setup.exe and deployed it as application.
As detection method I used one of the sys-files which where installed.
As uninstallation command I used: dism /online /Remove-Package /PackagePath:\\share\software$\Windows6.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x64.cab
/norestart

  • 2008 R2 Hyper-V Integrated services error 61658...

Kind of got myself into a bad situation I think. I run a single Windows 2008 R2 Server w/SP1 that hosts 5 VM's that host two Windows Server 2003 SP2 machines and the rest are 2008 R2 Servers w/SP1. On one of the 2003 VM's I was having issues
with the mouse not being captured. I decided to reinstall the integrated services. The reinstall seemed to complete normally, but when it was done the mouse capture still did not work. So I rebooted just to check and still no mouse capture.
So I went into add remove programs and uninstalled it. I rebooted and then noticed the problems that caused. The uninstall made the VM lose the SCSI adapter and the NIC. So after getting a legacy NIC added I was able to be past that issue, but no
VHDs are accessible that were are connected to the SCSI Controller. When I try to install the Integrated Services, it gets part way through the "Updating Storport Driver" step and then throws this message: [ (X) An error
occurred: One of the update processes returned error code 61658.] This machine is our Active Directory (Domain) Controller.  Again to mention, this is only machine out of the 5 that is having this problem. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.
PS: None of these are installed using Beta or RC's versions of the OS, the Hyper-V server and the VM's have all been in place for 2+ years working fine.
    Thanks
Update: A friend of mine looked things over and found a vmg...log file that shows the problem is when the Integrated Services install try's to run the a KB that fails to installed: (KB943295). So I will investigate.  But I did get the
server up and running again by adding a legacy network adapter and moving the two VHD files that were attached to the problem VM's SCSI controller to the VM's IDE controller.  So a band-aid I know but at least I was able to get 41 users back working
after 7 hours of pulling out my hair! I do need to know I have this VM functioning 100% as it should so I'll continue to work on it.

    Hi SScott2010,
Please try the following setps :
    1. backup the problematic VM first
    2. If the VM was migrated from virtual pc , please run "msconfig " --> click the boot tab then click advanced options --> select the Detect HAL check box
    3. make sure the service " cryptographic service " is running  automatically.
    4. restart the VM
    5. Install  the hotfix of kb822798  in the problematic VM :
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798/en-us
    6. try to install the Integrated Service again.
    Hope it helps

  • Windows 2012 R2 hyper-v integration services update - error code: 50

Physical Host is a brand new Windows 2012 R2 with hyper-v role, VM is a Windows Server 2012
I try to upgrade the integration services update, VM become unresponsive and I lost connection to it,  had to turn it off, afterwards it wouldn't boot.
Tried F8 on the reboot and then switched to the command prompt to manually upgrade the integration services running the setup, but got an error (Error code: 50 )
VM halts in the middle of booting up.
    saying: Please wait ...
Anyone has any idea why it happened and how to fix this?

  • Hyper-v integration services needs to be updated.

Recently we have moved few virtual machines to hyper-v core 2012 R2 (Free version) Now few virtual machines are showing below in hyper-v management console.
Do i need to update integration services as this message showing on virtual machines who are hosting mail server and database server. so after upgrading to latest integration services will it impact on VM's. Also
"Guest Services" option is unchecked. Do need to enable this as well.
    Akshay Pate

Yes, you need to update integration service.
In Hyper-V Manager, double-click on a VM, click Action/Insert Integration Services Setup Disk, follow installation in the guest VM, reboot.
Guest Services allows you to copy files to a running VM without using a network connection. It's optional. Integration services need to updated regardless
    of which ones you check/uncheck.

  • Hyper-V Integration Services Stopped

    Hi,
I have looked thru the forums and seem to be hitting a dead end or my search skills are failing. Anyhow, I have 2 Windows 2012 R2 DataCentre hosts running. They are running Hyper-v exclusively. I just noticed the other day that all the services for Hyper-V
are stopped except for Virtual Machine Management. If I click on any of the stopped services, it will start up then promptly stop. It will give an error of:
The Hyper-V x service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. I have reviewed my Windows Event logs and there are no warning or errors.
Some other background, there is SCCM 2012 R2 (5.0.7958.1401) in the environment, but no SCCM agent is installed at the moment. There is also VMM 2012 (3.2.7672.0) and the agent for this is installed on both hosts. Both of the hosts have been re-imaged
in the last 2 months, so I don't think it's some weird age related weirdness. I also removed the hyper-v role from one of the hosts, rebooted and then re-added it. This made no difference. I also tried to add about of services to the restrictedservices in
the registry as I had come across this in the wild of the internet, but this made no difference.
    Any thoughts, idea's?

Yes.  As I explained.  the Hosts are running an Bare Metal and not in a VM therefore these Integration Component services do not need to run.
The services you are calling out are specific to Windows when it is running within a VM.  This is not a reflection of the hypervisor services that the Integration Components in the VMs hook in to.
In the settings of the VM you can enable the integration component presentation to a VM.  And by default there is one option unticked.  Check it.
And, on the host settings, enable Enhanced Session Mode.
(I believe that it is enhanced session mode that you are hunting for).
Also, you need to upgrade the Integration Components inside the VMs if you had not done that when you built them.  Relying on what is packaged with the VM OS is not enough if the VM OS is older than the host.
Most likely what is happening is that the services are not enabled in the settings of the VM, or the ICs are not up to date within the VM.  That is the most common cause for what you are observing, not some issue with the host.

    Hi Rakesh,
" To enable key/value pair (KVP) infrastructure, install the hypervkvpd rpm package from your RHEL ISO. Alternatively the package can be installed directly from RHEL respositories.
In Windows Server 2012 R2, the key/value pair (KVP) infrastructure might not function correctly without a Linux software update. Contact your distribution vendor to obtain the software update in case you see problems with this feature. "

  • How to Install Integration service from hyper-v host to a virtual machine ?

i have around 100 Virtual Machine distributed on a cluster hyper-v cluster so i need to know how to install the upgraded version of integration service from the hyper-v host to all  virtual machines
that has a mismatched version of the integration service using power-shell script ?

  • Integrated Services act up when VM is part of domain?

Running Server 2012 R2 Datacenter on a HP Proliant 380p Gen8 (the HP was patched with the latest SPP)
I have created two templates running 2012 R2 Standard. (A Gen 1 and a Gen 2) The following scenario applies to machines made from both these templates.
All Oss are patched to current (as of Wed).
When the server is not part of the domain, and one selects shutdown within Hyper-V manager, the machines shut down with no issue. Fast. (You’ll see “shutting down 5%” then “Succeeded”)
However, when joined to the domain, and one shuts it down, the process is slower (You’ll see “shutting down 5%...10%...15%” etc. in 5% increments until…)
at 65% of shutdown integrated services clears from "Up to date" to ‘blank' - meaning states nothing. This is observed in the summary of the VM.
At 90% of shutdown the process hangs, then after some time the Heartbeat reports Lost Communication. This is observed in the summary of the VM.
One can not log into the server via console.
One is forced to turn off the VM, however when turned off the status goes to Shutdown Succeeded (this is different than a straight Turn Off…the process is ID’d as Turned Off.
The event logs on the guest are clean (not only within granular Applications and Services, but just reviewing the EventLog entries within System. As far as the OS is concerned, these are clean shutdowns (unless a Turn Off was
    initially initiated).
Confirmed integrated services are current (built into OS, but when I rerun it is reported up to date at 6.3.9600.16384.
Ran sfc /scannow on the guest, no issue reported.
same results if the guest server is connected to network or not.
Now, I have tested by removing the server from the domain and re-adding it back three separate times and the results are the same (in a workgroup no issue, when part of domain, the above occurs).
The Host is within the domain. They are all on the same network. Should be noted, when joined to the domain, the domain functionality (shares, etc) function as expecte

I don't think this has anything to do with Hyper-V integration service. What I'm reading is consistent with the integration service working as designed, initiating a shutdown, that includes shutting itself down. Slow shutdown when domain joined has to do
with domain GPOs, or shutdown procedures when domain joined. Possibilities include:
Maybe you clear the page-file at shutdown. This may be set via GPO. To check it, in regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management, locate the value ClearPageFileAtShutdown and make sure it is set to
    0.
By default on shutdown, Windows waits 12 seconds per each active application to close before forcing it. You can try tweaking the wait time to see if you speed up the shutdown process. In regedit find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control,
modify the WaitToKillServiceTimeout value in milliseconds
    Make a
shutdown trace to determine the cause with a tool like this one. See
    this post for more details.

  • Bug in HyperV Integration Services 6.3.9600.16384 ?

    Hi,
I just deployed a VM (Generation 1) hosted on a 2012 R2 Datacenter-Hypervisor. For deployment I used WDS and the VM had a "Legacy Network Adapter". Deployment works fine. After deployment I installed Hyper-V Integration Services (Version 6.3.9600.16384).
Then I shutdown the VM, removed the Legacy network adapter and added a "normal" network adapter and started the machine again. I noticed that the network-connection is down.
When I check the properties it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I tried to uninstall the Adapter, I tried to remove the adapter and add a new one - no change. Even I redeployed the VM completely new...same problem...
    Does anyone know this issue?
    Regards
    Miranda

Hi just a couple of question, what O.S version is you VM running. ? what system did you build your VM on ?/
Try removing and re-installing the integration services on the Virtual Server. make sure it completes with no errors.
you might need to force your VM to detect the new HAL.
    To change the HAL
Open the System Configuration utility (MSConfig.exe). To do this, click
Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click
    OK.
Click the Boot tab, and then click Advanced options.
Select the Detect HAL check box, click OK, and then restart the virtual machine.
    Important
Changing the HAL will usually trigger an operating system reactivation.

  • Using DISM Cmdlets to upgrade Hyper-V Integration Components

    Hi guys,
I'm using the Deployment Imaging Servicing Management (DISM) Cmdlets to programmatically upgrade Hyper-V integration components as VMs move about my environment. My code works fine, but I have a little issue:
I'm using a call to 'Add-WindowsPackage' to slipstream in the CAB package in. This works, but sometimes 2008 R2 VMs will immediately boot into the system recovery console -seemingly for no reason. This never happens with 2012 R1 or R2 VMs. This obviously
makes this process not unattended, and I want it to be totally unattended (with reporting to catch stuff).
Does anyone know a.) when this is happening and b.) can I somehow remove this recovery boot  flag, is it like the dirty bit?
The weird thing is if I just progress into the recovery console something is changed in the VM and then it will boot just fine. There isn’t a problem with the IC upgrade, but something thinks there is. The logs for the DISM cmdlets are no help.
I don’t have System Centre and wont be using it, FYI.
    Cheers!

    Hi Hob,
Just a little clarification, Please also make sure you had added the right Integration Services package version to WIM file, because each version has a different installation package, it is very important that you select the correct package for the appropriate
    OS.

  • Improper Install of Hyper-V 2012 R2 Integration Services on 2008 R2 VMs

I have two VMs that have one or more missing/broken services after upgrading to Integration Services 6.3.9600.16384.  On one VM the Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization Service is missing and the Hyper-V Data Exchange Service won't start.  The
other VM was missing the Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization Service.  I was able to create that service by restoring registry entries from another VM with working integration services and re-registering the DLLs from the driver, but the service won't
start.  Both services that won't start return the error "1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service".   I also tried an Offline
Install of Integration Services, but that didn't fix anything.  Since I am running 2008 R2, there is no uninstall available (I did modify the powershell script from the abve link to uninstall, but it didn't work).  I have been un-successful in
finding a way to trick/force the installer to install again over top of itself.

    Hi Gregg,

  • What happens when a VM with 2012 Integrations Services migrates to a 2008 R2 Hyper-V server?

I've been going through our Hyper-V environment to make sure our VMs have the latest, greatest Integration Services installed. I found one 2012 running a 2012 version of Integration Services on this 2008 R2 Hyper-V server. What kind of issues can this
cause? Should I uninstall the current version and 'downgrade' them to 2008 R2?

    Hi,
No, you should not. If the operating system is supported on a hyper-v version you can use it. This means if Windows Server 2012 is supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 hosts you can use Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2 with the Windows Server
2012 integration services installed as a guest OS.
You can find supported guest OS lists here
