  • Hyper-V could not initialize (rights?)

    Hello,
    I have an WIN2012 R2 Server.
Unfortunatley it is serving as a DC (I know this is not recommended).
I set up the HYPER-V role and when I start I receive with a newly created VM (no etwork connected yet):
'TEST111' could not initialize. (Virtual machine ID 49608249-F381-43E8-BCCF-F6C61CDE68A0)
    Event ID 3040
Most likely it has something to do with the rights. I tried to apply this thread, but no luck:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/ae8a90a2-4251-4fbd-b644-72dcd4b5f08c/error-an-attempt-to-initialize-vm-saved-state-failed-when-starting-any-vm?forum=winserverhyperv
I reinstalled the role and it still does not work. It looks like the old Settings of the hyper-v program stay on the machine after deinstalling the role, because after the reboots and Setting it up again it Shows the old Settings.
    The process Monitor Shows:
HKCR\Applications\vmconnect.exe : NAME NOT FOUND Desired Access: Read.
    Q:
Is there a way to completly clean the hyper-v stuff?
It might be that hyper-v only accepts local admin users (especially on a DC)?

    Hi,
The not recommend setting up often cause complex issue and hardly to locate the problem point when you troubleshooting, I don’t have the same environment but after you install
the Hyper-V role, the Hyper-V Administrators local group will created automatically, Please confirm your current user is the member of the Hyper-V administrators group user.
    Hope this helps.

  • All VM's on hyper-v fail to start with ' guest could not initialize'

This afternoon I tried to startup a VM and got the message '<guest> could not initialize'. I checked some other VM's, the same message. I had a VM running, stopped that one and tried to start it again, the same message: 'could not initialize'.
I checked the bios, all settings are correct.
I uninstalled (turned off) the hyper-v feature, rebooted the machine twice, checked with CPU-Z to see if VT-X was enabled; it was.
Turned hyper-v on again, rebooted. And I still have the same error message....
I have seen this error on the forum, but sofar I have not found an answer.

  • Hyper-V could not replicate changes for virtual machine 'machinename': The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE).

I have a 3 node cluster that has replica setup to replicate to another cluster off-site.
Suddenly one of the servers is not replicating with the error:
Hyper-V could not replicate changes for virtual machine 'machinename': The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE). (Virtual Machine ID CC0FD4CC-F9B7-4C68-ABE8-B7D52A87899F)
All other servers are replicating fine so there cannot be a permissions or connectivity issue between the 2 clusters.
This server has 2TB of data so I'd rather not have to start the replication again.
    Does anyone have any pointers?
    Thanks.

    Hi drensta,
Based on my knowledge , "hyper-v replica broker " is needed for failover cluster replica .
Here is a link for "Why is the "Hyper-V Replica Broker" required?"

  • Could not initialize the Java Virtual Machine

While trying to configure the turnkey product I encounter an error in starting the JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES v8.0 service. The JBossService.exe ends up showing in the task list - but the service shows its status as "starting" and an enty stating: "Could not initialize the Java Virtual Machine" is placed in the event log. I've seen a posting on this form that traced at least some of these symptoms to the account under which the service is configured to run - but I don't believe that solution applies in this case - I'm starting the service under the System Account which has all the permissions it needs to start the service.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. Indeed, the problem turned out to be memory related - I was able to correct the issue by updating the registry keys "JVM Option Number 4" and "JVM Option Number 5" so specify lower values. For some reason the system didn't like the 1024 meg size that was set by default (our server has 2 gig of memory).

  • Could not initialize the Java virtual machine. Program will exit

    Hi!
I am trying to install jdk-1_5 using jdk-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe. The entire installation runs fine till the end when we get the following error message.
*"could not initialize the Java virtual machine. Program will exit"*
Any idea as to what I may be missing out on.
    Thanks a lot,
    Rohit

is it creating any log file in the install directory ? do you have admin rights on the PC ? Not sure if it needs admin rights to install 1.5, but just a thought .. have u tried this on any other machine ?

  • Type 2 Virtual Machine in Hyper-V will not PXE boot with WDS

    Hi
Bit of a wierd scenario this but I'm doing a bit of a lab experiment kind of thing. The setup is as follows:
VMWare Workstation 10 with Windows Server 2012 R2 running as a virtual machine. In VMW10 I have a NAT network interface and a Bridging interface set to load with the virtual machine. These seem to work fine (although the NAT doesn't seem to want to connect
to the internet but that's why the bridging one is there in addition).
Server 2012 is configured with the following roles:
ADDS, DHCP, DNS, Hyper-V, Printer, WDS
I have correctly configured WDS to work on the same machine as DHCP and I can get PXE boot working with WDS on a Type1 Virtual Machine in Hyper-V using the Legacy Network adapter. My problem is when I try and PXE boot on a Type2 Virtual Machine (this type
is new in R2 and should eliminate the need for a legacy network adapter) using the same network interface that I used for the Type1 machine, I get an IP address from DHCP but WDS doesn't seem to respond. Instead I get the "PXE-E16: No Offer Received"
message. I have tried just about everything I can think of and spent the whole day trying to figure out why this is the case but came up with nothing. Has anyone else encountered this or can anyone shed any light on the matter?
    Many thanks in advance

"VMWare Workstation 10 with Windows Server 2012 R2"and "Server 2012 is configured with the following roles: ADDS, DHCP, DNS, Hyper-V, Printer, WDS"
Hyper-V is not supported to be run as a VM.  It is a Type 1 hypervisor, which means it works on the bare metal.  You have it running as a VM on a Type-2 hypervisor, so it has no access to the bare metal.  Yes, VMware may have made it so some
things work in that environment, but it is not a supported (or tested) environment for Hyper-V.

  • Virtual Machine Not Starting

    Hi All,
After creating my virtual machine, and I click start, I get the following errors:
An error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machines. 'Test Server' could not initialize.
I have already enabled the VT of the processor and Execute Disable Bit in the BIOS but each time I get the same problem. I have even removed the Hyper-V role and added it again, but no luck. Note that the environment is Windows Server 2008.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing?
    Thanks

    Hi Crystol,
Have you checked\found anything on event logs.
Check logs under Hyper-V-Worker node under Applications and Services Logs for anything related.
Refer to the below KB article:
"This issue occurs because Windows Server 2008 R2 does not support the AVX feature."
    Intel CPU:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2517374/en-us
    AMD CPU:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2568088/en-us
Find out if you CPU supports AVX, if yes use the workaround to fix Hyper-V.

  • Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available

I get this message when I try to startup Photoshop:
"Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available."
I found a fix in Tech Notes about selecting the scratch disk and choosing ignore permissions, but I don't even remember what the scratch disk was, so I don't really know how to select ignore permissions on it.
Does anyone know another way to fix this. It seems like this must be some "login-local" preference (meaning that there must be something in the user's local preferences for setting this scratch disk parameter (the only reason I'm thinking this is that if I create another user and run Photoshop, I get no error.)
I looked through ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe for any kind of Photoshop Preference, but I couldn't find a specific preference that stood out. Anyone have an idea?

I just got the same message, "Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available". I had just assigned my primary scratch disk to an internal drive that was empty and had lots of free space. When I restarted my machine, the error message appeared when I tried to open Photoshop.
Not sure why this error occurred, but deleting the preferences did fix that problem... unfortunately, doing that will reset all your prefs = pallets, brushes, actions. I suspect you could just delete the "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp" file and leave the others intact to avoid that.
I would still like to know why changing the scratch disk gives us this problem? I mean, isn't that the whole point of having another internal drive?

  • ASMlib will not initialize after reboot. OEL6.6

    Greetings,
After some routine maintenance and cleaning up trace and alert logs on a dev server, a reboot was performed.
When the server came back up, the ASMlib would not initialize, and the /dev/oracleasm/disks folder was gone. ASMlib has been in use since day one on this machine, and has given no troubles in six months of operation.
Querying the disks shows that the headers are still intact, and that they are labelled as ASM disks.
Attempting to re-configure via /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure lead to no success.
I've also uninstalled and re-installed the oracle asm packages.
[root@oraserver~]# rpm -qa | grep asm

at this point, I'm out of ideas, and google has not been terribly helpful. Has anyone else run across this before? I'll get what ever information you might need to help suss out a cause.
    Thanks for your time,
    Ken

Cleaning the database diag directories cannot affect ASMLib. The problem must be something else. Since all the ASM device and diskgroup information is stored on the disks, it should be sufficient to simply re-install and reconfigure the software.
All ASMLib installations require the oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support packages in addition to the kernel driver, which is built-in only if you are using the Oracle UEK kernel. You might be missing the oracleasmlib package.
Perhaps the following will solve the problem:
    su - root
    wget http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/asmlib/oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
    yum install ./oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
    /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure

  • RDS server message: could not initialize class com.adobe.rds.core.services.Messages

I just moved to a new host with my own dedicated cloud server.  Using CF9.  Everything seems to be working fine with the server, but i get the following error when connecting to it via RDS through CF Builder 2.
RDS server message: could not initialize class com.adobe.rds.core.services.Messages
I get it when i first connect to the server, then if i try to access it again, it will let me in.  I also get an error when i try to open the first file.  Then its ok.
I have no idea what it can be, i have not run into this on any other server that I have connected to.

    Hello,
After 2 months of it not working for love or money.  I got a new machine and ColdFusion Builder 2 and started over.  It worked for a while.  Then when the trial version timed out a few days ago it killed it again.  With the same error.  So it is definitely something that gets “switched” within the code or configuration settings.   Rebooting about 3x seemed to fix it this time after entering the license number.
Yes to answer your questions below.  Yes, I did all those things below. Re-checked and checked numerous times.  Keep in mind the installation there worked for over a year then all of a sudden stopped.   I hadn’t changed anything at all.  And it just stopped dead, started throwing up that error.
I asked all the experts in my office.  One guy knows CF and Java inside and out and could not figure it out.  I searched the web and the issue is listed many times but with no real answers.
Thanks for getting back to me.  I am up and running with new machine.  But since I’ve seen the error on this machine now, I live in fear it will reappear and stop working.  So if you come up with any thoughts I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    -Lyle

  • Share Hyper-V machine between 2 Windows 8.1 OS

    Hi,
I have a laptop with dual boot on two Windows 8.1 OS.
I have Hyper-V on both Windows 8.1 installation. One boot for work and other for personal use.
But sometime i need to work in my hyper-v machine in the both Windows 8.1 installation.
It is possible du share hyper-v machine between the OS ? Is not very useful to export or copy the vm each time i need to boot in my other Windows 8.1.
    Thank you!

Yes, you can do that, but ...
You would need to create two VMs, one in the Server and one in the Client.  But they could point to the same directory - make another partition on your laptop that has the same drive letter on both platforms.  You would actually share just the
VHDX file.  You might be able to import in place on one platform after creating the VM on the other platform, but I think it would be safer to simply have new VM definitions on each system.
