Hyper V Manager can on longer manager all virtual machines

We have this issue have in few client of ours running 2012 or 2012 R2. From time to time those Hyper V base will lose the ability to manage all the virtual machines. There is nothing in Hyper V manager and you can't add itself into the management console.
Restart the hyper V manager service do nothing for it. the only way we can do is get into each each vms to shut them down and do a  restart on the hyper V base OS. Those affected some are clustered some are just stand alone.
Lin Xiang Correct Solutions

Ive run into this issue on stand alone hyperv hosts and so far, one for one, it affects VMs associated with a virtual switch the management OS is excluded from.  Determine which virtual switch the affected VM or VMs are associated with. Next, in
Virtual Switch Manager, highlight the correct virtual switch, then check to allow the Management OS to share the network adapter.  Click Apply.   The switch will briefly disconnect and reconnect. This appears to reset the switch and make the
vm accessible for management.  After the issue is resolved, if needed, you can uncheck the box again to exclude the Mgmt OS from participating on the nic/virtual switch.  I have not found documentation from MS to support this, but it has worked for
me on many occasions. Hopefully, MS will address this bug at some point.

can any one help my airport utility can no longer find my time machine or Air port express

Try connecting an Ethernet cable from your Mac to the Time Capsule to see if that allows AirPort Utility to "see" it.
By the way, don't confuse "Time Machine",backup software included with OS X since version 10.5, with "Time Capsule", an Apple Wi-Fi base station with an integrated disk drive.

  • Currently using Lightroom 5 as a standalone on a mac and two windows machines one desktop one laptop. with CC can i still use all the machines or do i have to take out an individual license for each?

with CC can i still use all the machines or do i have to take out an individual license for each?

Your LR5 license allows for activated installations on two machines.  Of those two machine, only one can be using the licensed software at a given time.  The same applies with CC, except with CC you won't be able to sneak in the third machine.  What you can do though with CC is have it installed on all three and sign in and out of the different machines as needed.
If you intend to be using all three machines at the same time then you do need three separate licenses/subscriptions to be in compliance with the license agreement.

  • How to create a all virtual machines collection.

I need to create a collection of all virtual machines. There are only hyper-v VMs. I thought it would be an Attribute of the System Resource attribute class, but I don't see anything there.

  • AnyConnect VPN on Mac - Can't SSH to Virtualbox Virtual Machines

    Hi,
I'm running AnyConnect version 3.1.05170 on my Mac.  I'm also doing SW Development on multiple Virtual Machines on my Mac via VirtualBox.  When I connect via VPN, I can no longer SSH to my Virtual Machines.  I'm sure there is a rules setting or something that is killing my "Host Only Network" in VirtualBox so I can no longer access them.  The worst part is that even if I Quit the AnyConnect Client, I still can't SSH to my Virtual Machines, so whatever rule is put in place doesn't go away when I disconnect the tunnel.
Has anyone witnessed this or have a suggestion on how to go about solving it?
    Thanks,
    - Curt

    Hello,
I just encountered the same problem. To solve it, I checked the box "Allow Local (LAN) access when using VPN (if configured)" in the preferences of AnyConnect.
It's working fine for me but I am using Parallels and not VirtualBox.

    David

  • List all Virtual Machines with Associated Tags

I have custom attributes for application engineer, OS engineer, application name, etc. In the vSphere Client I can list all VMs and their custom attributes.  I can then sort the list by custom attribute.  Doing this allows me to find virtual machines with empty custom attributes.
I have converted my custom attributes to tags.  I cannot find a way to list all virtual machines with associated tags in the vSphere Web Client.  Is there a way to do this using PowerCLI? I'd like to be able to produce a CSV file that contains all virtual machines and their associated tags.

If you have tag assignments for the category of "OS engineer".  You can write this:
    Get-TagAssignment -Category "OS engineer"
That will list the tags in the category and the associated VMs.

  • Can I backup some Azure Virtual Machines at same recovery point by Azure Backup ?

Can I backup some Azure Virtual Machines at same recovery point by Azure Backup ?
I want to recovery some related Azure Virtual Machines at same recovery point.
    Senario:
Azure Virtual Machine 1. some servers for Web servers.
Azure Virtual Machine 2. a server for SQL server.
Azure Virtual Machine 3. a server for File server.
    Regards,
    Yoshihiro Kawabata

    Hi Yoshihiro,
Azure IaaS VM backup is a VM level backup and each VM backup will create its own recovery point.  You can trigger backups in a staggered fashion typically you backup SQL, File server followed by web server, but there is no way to make it a single recovery
point.  Are there any specific reasons you need this capability?
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • UPgraded to Lion and can now longer access all my Entourage Contacts and Mail. What do I do. Desperate

All my mail , contacts can no longer be opened as Entourage is a PPC app.
What do I do to recover contacts and migrate to Apple mail.
Would really appreciate help. Very important to me

Download the 30 day trial of Office 2011 from Microsoft. You'll be able to open all your stuff from the antiquated version of Office and then move the info to Apple Mail.

  • I can no longer see all the App Store apps within any category, only a selected few such as the "Best of.."

Until recently if I went into the iTunes App Store to look for new Music apps (for example) I could click on See All and bingo, several thousand music apps, arranged chronologically, were visible. Now all I can see in the Music category are a few selected "Best New Apps" , and so forth.
Is there a new preference where I can change what is visible so I can once again see all Apps? Or has the iTunes App Store suddenly changed it's appearance to limit what one can see?

iCloud restores settings but not programs. You have to sync your phone with iTunes in order to install all the apps. Also, the iPhone 5 uses a different resolution, so it could be that VLC can't be opened on the device

  • Can no longer connect to Time Machine as a server

Have been using an external drive connected to the Time Machine to store my iTunes media files.  All of a sudden, the computers on my home network can no longer access the drive as they now have problems connecting to the Time Machine server.  However, the wireless router works just fine.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem and if so, any advice on how to solve the problem?  I can no longer access any of the content on the external drive through the Time Machine, although it appears in the Finder as a shared drive.

I presume you are on Mountain Lion.. it does have some network issues..
Try just rebooting.. and restart everything in the correct order..
Modem.. router/TC.. USB drive.. clients.. 2min gap between each.
If you still have issues do a verify of the drive.

  • VM Manager on virtual machine - best practice

I am setting up a server using Oracle VM to limit the number of cpus available to a virtual machine which will be running an Oracle database.
I have set up a test environment, one Oracle VM Server, and the Oracle VM Manager running on a separate server.
I have read in this forum that I could create a linux virtual machine on the VM Server, and then install the Oracle VM Manager on that.
    Re: Oracle VM Manager installation
To create the linux virtual machine, I used the Oracle VM Manager that I have running on a separate server.
Once I created the linux virtual machine, I installed Oracle VM Manager on it.
From this point, I hoped to create the virtual machine upon which I will run the Oracle database, but I get the following message:
OVM-2008 The Server Pool Master (10.36.64.225) has been registered with some other pool, and can not register it again.
So if running the Oracle VM Manager on a virtual machine on the Oracle VM Server is a good idea, how do I do it?
    Many thanks.
    Paul

    Hi Tommy,
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query.
Unfortunately, things didn't go so well.
I ran the commands you listed, checking on the status of each VM manager (the original one, running on separate physical linux server, and the one I want to use, running as a VM guest) between each command:
    /opt/ovs-agent-latest/db/db_del.py master
    - this provided no response, and logout/login from both VM managers showed no changes.
    /opt/ovs-agent-latest/db/db_del.py srv
    10.36.64.225 removed.
    - the oraVMmanager now listed as powered off in the original VM manager.
    /opt/ovs-agent-latest/db/db_del.py srvp
    10.36.64.225 removed.
    - no change in VM Managers
    /opt/ovs-agent-latest/db/db_del.py vm
    /OVS/running_pool/28_oraVMmanager removed.
    - no change to both VM Managers and the guest VM is still running.
    /sbin/service ovs-agent restart
    option 2 - guest VM shutdown (28_oraVMmanager)
I couldn't get the guest VM to restart
service xendomains start failed saying there is a lockfile:
    /var/lock/subsys/xendomains
I haven't been able to get past this point other than to re-install and start again.
Maybe there is another way to do this...
If I install the VM Server, can I create a linux VM Guest using command line rather than from the VM Manager?
Once I have a VM guest, I can logon to that, and install the VM Manager.
    Cheers
    paul

  • Can Hyper-V host join a domain of a virtual machine domain controller on that same host?

Learning about Failover Clustering with Hyper-V. I have two hyper-v nodes(servers). I want to add them to a failover cluster, but it said that the nodes must be in a domain to join failover cluster.
Can I create a domain controller role on a virtual machine hosted on that same node and join that node to the domain?
Can I just create a role on one of the two nodes along with hyper-v role and join the second node to the domain?

    You can create
an AD VM and join the Hyper-V host to it in Server 2012 (or Hyper-V Server 2012, the preferred OS for running a Hyper-V Cluster). This did
not work in any previous version of Windows.
This would be a really horrible idea for a production environment, but suitable for a lab/training.
Also, you only need one host/node to form a cluster (though it probably throws errors/warnings if you do)
