Hyper-V Manager remote connection

This is originally posted to the following forum and they suggested I post here.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_perf/hyper-v-manager-remote-connection/708e46c4-8e84-4fd6-8cdd-590d10a008a9
In Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 10041) I am trying to connect to my remote Hyper-V Server 10 Preview (Build 9841) to manage it. I enabled all the firewall ports (even disabled it at one point) but I can't get the Hyper-V manager to list the VMs on
the server. I am able to make a remote PowerShell connection to manually do some stuff but the interface is much easier obviously.
Anyone have information on what we can check or what we need to do in order to get the new Hyper-V manager talking to a remote server properly? It is actually connected just not listing VMs on that machine. I can modify Virtual Switches just fine, but the
listing never shows a VM.
There are no 3rd party anti-virus programs installed. So that is not the issue. I wanted to see if someone else had ideas or if this was a known bug.

just a confirm, have you checked if the hyper-v manager works OK in the server machine, I mean not remotely.
Another point, you can check if you have permissions to create new VMs, it might be related to permissions issue I guess, add your user account to Administrator\domain admin\hyper-v administrators...
Other user shows that it could be related to symlinks in the directory
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines\

  • Solution manager Remote Connection issues

    Hi
I'm currently in the process of setting up Solution Manager 7.1 on windows Server 2008r2 using central system.
I did the prerequisite check & the Solman installation and i'm actuallly working on the post-installation steps.
I'm experiencing difficulty with the step : "Configure Remote Connection to SAP".
I followed the informations provided on :   http://service.sap.com/remoteconnection
In the technical prerequesite you have to set up a connection to sap support.
So i have to choose a connection type : I selected Internet connection so my first question is : do we need "VPN with SNC" or "VPN OR SNC" ?
I personnaly understood VPN or SNC.
So from here i decided to use SNC.
The first step was to set up & configure the SAProuter. I decided to do it on an another computer on the same domain ( not on the same computer where Solution Manager is installed ) but i'm not sure it is necesary
I assume I can install Saprouter on the same location as the Solution manager? do you recommend it ?
The Basic Functions testing with niping is working.
The next step is : "establish Internet Connections"
So now i can choose between SNC or VPN : my goal is to establish the connection as fast as possible.
I actually don't have a switch available ( i can get one if necesary but time is running ... ) so i'm opting for the SNC solution.
I tryed to get the certificate for the saprouter but i don't have a register SAProuter, but when i opened a customer messager for component  XX-SER-NET, SAP answered about the impossibility to access SAP service Backbone with an SNC , saying that i will need to register a VPN site to site connection to SAP => i don't get it .... Can someone explain it to me ?
So please can one of you guru's tell me how to set this remote connection :
    -which materials ( server / switch / firewalls ) ?
-where to get the right documentation ?
    -What about DMZ ?
-I have a single IP Address is that enough ? ( setting up nat for port  3299 )
    - do i have to contact a service provider ?
My idea was initially to set up the SAProuter on the same computer as the SOLMAN setup & use SNC communication  to communicate with SAP but it doesn't seems that easy. Do i need separate installation for Saprouter <=> Solution Manager. ?
What's the minimal infrastructure to establish this connection ?
In addition to that, after configuring the SAProuter, i had trouble with the SAPMMC : on my system , on the instance 0 , the process disp+work.EXE  won't run ( yellow light )and i can't find where i made a mistake if you have suggestions ...
Really need your help, i'm on a short deadline ... Any help, even incomplete, would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Thx for the answer.
I actually managed to register my saprouter with SAP and was granted with CN/OU & connection informations.
I followed this guide : http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncdoc  with the addition of this guide : http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Basis/SAProuterviaSNC.
My first issue : I'm running with a Windows server 2008 r2 enterprise edition 64 bits with a processor Intel Xeon 2.4ghz ( dualcore). so i decided to use the crypto folder "nt-x86_64"
For the environment variable i set as System variables SECUDIR = C:\usr\sap\saprouter and SNC_LIB = C:\usr\sap\saprouter\nt-x86_64\sapcrypto.dll
The generation/install of the certificate is alright ( sapgenpse get_my_name -v -n Issuer is OK )
    using the command :saprouter -r -K "p:CN=mycn, OU=myOUnbr, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE" i have
I get the following message :  trc file     dev_rout
                                                    no ligging active
Its strange cause it looks like its running but when i check the services running on windows saprouter isn't started .... How to know if SAProuter is running right ?
If i folow the SAP procedure : Step 3 : test of the ip connection by the customer : SAP Remote Services : technical preparation ( see SAP Note 812386 ) : it's ask in the note to implement note 766505 via SNOTE : i get the following error msg : Error in remote connection to destination SAPOSS : Error when opening an RFC connection ( LB: Hostname or service of the message server unknown#DEST = SA
    What's wrong ?
If i use T oss1 in parameter => technical setting => i set my saprouter info in SAProuter 1 ( at customer site ) with instance no. 99 and if SAProuter and SAPNet Message Server at SAP i put the following : Name : sapserv2 / IP Address 194.39.131.34 intance no. 99 and message server name oss001/ DB Name 001/ Instance no.01.
When trying to "Logon to SAPNet"  i have an error Unable to connect to SAPNet message server ( default connection will be used ... )
and followed by the error screen : "partner '80.15.173.168:sapdp99' not reached WSAECONNREFUSED : Connection refused. do you want to see the detailed error description ? "
    Details : module nixxi.cpp / line 3286 / Method : NipConnect2:80.15.173.168:3299 / Return code : -10 / System call : connect / Error No : 10061 / Error Text WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused / Counter : 10
    Any idea ?
    when doing niping.exe -c -H /H/mylocalSR/H/194.39.131.34/H/194/39.131.34 i obtain :
    Wed Dec 07 21:20:09 2011

    excluding max and min :
    av2   118.273 ms
    tr2   16.514 kB/s
Is it the expected output ?
I've maintained system data in service.sap.com/system-data ( selecting the sap router ) then i tryed to use the SAP service connection, downloaded the .exe but i can't find the stfk.oez. I realized that in my maintain connection screen i have no space for entering any routestring. Seems wrong ?
Do i have to use the SAO?
i've made nat redirection from my router as this : from my public ip to my lan ip ( 192.168.x.x) what should i enter in the routestring : /H/public or lan or hostname ?/S/3299 ?
Hoping you can help me ! ( the goal of all this is to set up RFC connection for postinst step of Solution manager ).

  • No longer able to view virtual machine from Hyper-V Manager

From the Windows 2008 R2 host machine, I can run the Hyper-V Manager and 'connect' to the Virtual Machine.  The window pops up with nothing but a gray background (clearly the same gray background of the log in screen), but no 'ctrl-alt-delete' prompt
and no ability to log in.  This was previously working fine.
Note that I can still make a Remote Desktop connection to the Virtual Machine and it works fine.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I never seen this issue before, base on my experience, it may cause by your AV soft block some critical components of Hyper-V host, please try the following exclude specific
directories or process with your AV soft.
•Default virtual machine configuration directory (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V)
    •Custom virtual machine configuration directories
•Default virtual hard disk drive directory (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks)
•Custom virtual hard disk drive directories
•Custom replication data directories, if you are using Hyper-V Replica
    •Snapshot directories
•Vmms.exe (Note: This file may have to be configured as a process exclusion within the antivirus software.)
•Vmwp.exe (Note: This file may have to be configured as a process exclusion within the antivirus software.)
    The related KB:
Virtual machines are missing, or error 0x800704C8, 0x80070037, or 0x800703E3 occurs when you try to start or create a virtual machine

  • Win8 pro, hyper-v: error while connecting on local machine "an authentication error has occurred" "the supplied handle is invalid"

Subject host OS: windows 8 pro.
I've turned os feater hyper-v on, restarted copmuter. In hyper-v manager added empty virtual machine. After double clikcing on my newly created machine windows with "virtual michine connection appeered". I turned button "power on" and
    console has dropped error:
"remote desktop connection": "An authentication error has occurred. The supplied handle is invalid."
on the tiny image on the left bottom picture a can see quest console.
    1) How can i install OS on my guest, where is default console for virtual machine?
    2) What is RDP required
for  on this firts stage of installation and how can i connect to the virtual machine console without it???

    Hi,
Regarding your first question, here is an article talking about install and configure the first virtual machine in Hyper-V, please refer to Step 2: Create a virtual machine and Step 3: Install the guest operating system in the below link:
Install Hyper-V and Configure a Virtual Machine
By saying the default console for Virtual machine, do you mean the Hyper-V manager?
The error might indicate that there is no VM available to connect. After we installed a OS, then we could connect it with the right-click in Hyper-V manager, see:
    Connect to a Virtual Machine
The RDP connections is used to connect the VM in Windows 8, and for Windows 8.1, there are great improvements including what's called Enhanced Session Mode, more information, please see:
Overview: Client Hyper-V Enhanced Session Mode in Windows 8.1
If I misunderstand something, please let me know.

  • Can't connect to the Hyper-V manager after upgrading to Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2

I have some Hyper-V server based on the free version (Windows Hyper-V 2012). I want to upgrade to the new version (Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2). So I begin to test it with
an already working server (aka I was able to totally manager the server remotely without problem) and so upgrade it to the R2.
After the upgrade, remote management and Hyper-V manager does not work anymore. So I redo my usual configuration steps (enable remote management, open firewall, uses
latest hvremote.wsf, etc.). I was able to regain access to Computer Manager but not the Hyper-V manager which still can't connect at all. I can't access the Task Scheduler too without having a lot of XML error like "The task XML contains a value which
is incorrectly formatted or out of range" (see below for screenshot).
Is there a new step to do to be able to manage Hyper-V 2012 R2 from a Windows 7 computer?
It's not a network problem as I can access RDP and MMC Computer Manager.
To be sure the problem is coming from the R2, I have taken an old computer, install Windows Hyper-V 2012, do my usual configuration step, and
tada: it works perfectly. I can access the Hyper-V manager from my client.
    Technical details:
    - Client is a Windows 7 SP1 x64 English member of a domain with latest RSAT (Windows6.1-KB958830-x64-RefreshPkg.msu).
    - Servers are in a workgroup (not a domain's member). And no, I can't add them to the same domain as the client.

    HI,
Can we upgrade HyperV 2012 to hyper v 2012 R2.
    Thanks
    Atul

  • Hyper-v manager in windows 8.1 cannot connect to hyper-v server. RPC server unavailable

I am setting up a new server. I installed Hyper-V 2012 R2 on it and want to manage it remotely with Hyper-V manager from a Windows 8.1 computer. I am unable to communicate with the computer with the server. Hyper-V manager gives me the following error: RPC
Server Unavailable. Unable to establish communication between "the hypervserver" and "the W8.1station". Both computer are located in the same subnet and both are on the same domain.
I configured the server with a fixed IP, DNS, to accept pings, connected it to the domain and set it up to allow remote access and management. Although I do not think it is necessary, I added my domain account to the administrators group in the hyper-V server.
I can perfectly ping the server and remote into the server from the W8.1 station. From he server I can also ping the W8.1 station as well as exterior websites (DNS functionality is ok).
I have play with the firewall in both, the Hyper-V server and the management station and have not being able to get them to communicate. Blaming the Hyper-V server for all this and the great time that I have already spent on this problem, I borrowed a Windos
7 Pro computer, installed RSAT and enabled the Hyper-V manager in that computer. Launched the manager AND CONNECTED TO THE HYPER-V SERVER WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL !!!!!!!
I have read a lot already about this but most people having this issue are setting up servers in a workgroup environment, and almost nobody is using Windows 8.1 as the management station. Can someone PLEASE give me a hand with this problem??
    Thanks to you all !!!

  • Unable to Connect to WS2012R2 Hyper-V manager with Windows 7 version of Hyper V manager.

Just brought up a new WS2012R2 host server and created a gen 2 VM on it . I already have a WS2008R2 Host server with several VMs running. I manage the WS2008r2 WM from my Win7pro laptop using Hyper-V remote management tool. But when I try to connect to the
new WS2012R2 host server the  operation fails with the message 'The operation on computer 'HOSTSERVERNAME' failed'
I've checked for downloads to update the remote HyperV management tool and cant find any. Am I correct in assuming that I can  only connect to the Hyper-v Management tool for WS2012R2, from Win8 or higher? or is it something I've over looked. remote
management is enabled on the host server and the vm.

  • Hyper V manager on 2008 R2 connect to 2012 R2 server core hyper V without domain

You're saying you want to use Hyper-V Manager on 2008R2 to manage 2012R2 Hyper-V, correct? If so, unfortunately this is by design:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2012/05/30/the-v2-wmi-namespace-in-hyper-v-on-windows-8.aspx
You'll have to use the built-in tools in Windows 8.1 to manage 2012 R2 Hyper-V remotely. Here's the support matrix:

    Hi all,
    A
After few months, problem occurred again and i could not install the windows from the scratch over and over again.
I started searching problem online and eventually i found the FIX.
Looks like Registry Entries are getting screwed up somehow.
My "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProvider" was looking exactly as below:
    ", schannel.dll"
And i made it as below:
    "msapsspc.dll,
    schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll, credssp.dll"
The solution for the other person in the link ( cannot share link since site does not allow me to ) as a source was only missing "credssp.dll" whereas i was missing everything except "schannel.dll". Strange...
    ============================
Adding credssp.dll to the list of SecurityProviders in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders
    fixed it for me.
My full registry entry now reads "msapsspc.dll,
    schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll, credssp.dll"

  • HP remote connection manager keeps asking trusted computer...

Hi, I am actually working with HP Thinclient T610. The thinclient has 2 differents users, admin and  basic operator. The login passes by a USB RFID reader, so the  local Thinclient ports needs to be transfered to the remote connected VM. The Remtote Desktop Protocol is used to get onto the VM. The problem is  that the Remote Desktop software keeps asking if the computer is a trustable computer due the ports checked. Even if I checked the remember box, it still reappears every time... I notticed that if I get onto the VM directly with the remote desktop program and I checked this remember box, when I get connected again, the software doesn't ask again. The problem occurs when the Thinclient passes by the HP connection manager... Do you have any ideas of what can be done to stop this popup at every login? Thanks.

have you checked the Group Policy settings for the Win8 unit?
Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Edit Group Policy /Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings /
    Local Policies / Security Options
make sure "Interactive Logon: require smart card" is disabled
    Apply and save the GPO,
open CMD prompt and type gpupdate /force
It may take a few reboots to take effect, but see if that helps.

  • Generate Remote Connection for our Solution Manager 7.1

    Hi,
In order to complete installation of SAP Solution Manager 7.1, we need to send a message to SAP Support through SOLMAN but we still don't have a RFC connected to the SAP backbone.
Anyone get a process easy-to-understand and to set up, we're in France and it's very urgent.
Currently we've set up correctly installation of back-end and front-end, we can logon to solution manager and it's all.
If you have ever done an installation of Solution Manager with Remote Connection, please join me.
    Best regards,
    William

    Hello,
Did you download and follow the Installation Guide?
    http://solman_srv:8000
Is NOT a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FDQN)
A Fully qualified name would have the format
    Host.Company.Domain
i.e. http://service.sap.com is fully qualified, while http://service is not.
This is the first problem you are having, but I suspect you have more, as at this point in the installation SAP* should already been disabled and your Admin user accounts setup. This would have been durng the post installation steps, which are performed prior to Solman_setup.
Yes, you need to defined parameter icm/host_name_full to equate with the FQDN of solman-srv.
Second thing is that client 000 and client 001 are reference clients provided by SAP. You don't want to be changing these clients. You want to be copying these reference clients to your clients and then configuring those clients, not your reference clients, as this will cause a problem when you need to create new clients.
Did you follow the installation guide carefully? I would recommend you review, because it covers off these things, so you shouldn't be running into these errors at this point in the configuration phase, if you followed the Installation guide (especially the POST Installation steps)

    Paul

  • BPF Package Manager won't open in remote connection using Public IP address

I have a problem to open BPF package manager.
Im able to open bpf package manager in my server and to all local bpc users but on the remote connection (vpn/web) they couldn't open the bpf.
Our server uses an private Ip address which is 10.1.25.81 (local LAN) but we also access BPC remotely using an
Public IP address (202.129.238.46 or http://servername.example.com/osft ) using a configuration of IP Forwarding in our router.
    example:
    (LAN)
User 1 on System 1 - does the BPF work?yes
User 1 on System 2 - does the BPF work?yes
User 2 on System 1 - does the BPF work?yes
User 2 on System 2 - does the BPF work?yes
    (WAN/VPN)
User 1 on System 1 - does the BPF work?no
User 1 on System 2 - does the BPF work?no
User 2 on System 1 - does the BPF work?no
User 2 on System 2 - does the BPF work?no

When you are performing installation of BPC or after if you are looking into Server Manager - Server Option you will see for application server, web server and reporting services server you have two fields where you can specify name for internal and nae Example for application server:
Application  Server name: FQDN (or IP)
External Application Name: FQDN (or IP)
Normally we recommedn to use FQDN (Fully qualified DNS name)
because if the DNS entry are set correct then you will be able to connect from internal and also from external without any problem.
The system will provide every time the correct IP.
In my opinion you used IP and the problem it is that internal the external IP is not recognized.
Please verify the configuration and provide more information about the landscape.
Only in this way we will be able to provide you the right sugestions to fix this issue.
    Kind Regards

  • Can I open remote connection manager with no menu bar

I am running a LabVIEW executable that does not have the standard menu bar, is there a way to programmatically open the remote connection manager.  I know that I can access properties that provide this data, but if possible I wanted to make use of the code that LabView has already created

It's a VI called connection manager in \Project\remotepanel.llb.

Just interesting to know what could cause the problem and if other were seeing something like that...
Also, can connect to machine from SCVMM.
    Thx.

I have the exact same issue (running windows 2008 R2 Enterprise). I can RDP to any of the VM but simply cannot connect using console.  This is causing me grief since I have to create few more VMs and work with the existing VMs.  Without console
access, I cannot create and do any config changes for new VMs.  Can someone help. Things that I have tried so far.
    1. Exported VMs
    2 uninstalled .NET 4 & 3.5.
    3. Hyper-v role removed.
    4. Reinstalled Hyper-v, reinstalled .NET 4 & 3.5, patch current as of today.
    5. Imported the VMs back and still cannot connect.  Exactly same error.  No errors in any logs in event viewer or Hyper-v logs.
    6.  Navigated to c:\Program Files\Hyper-v and manually run the VMCONNECT.EXE app (choosing the localhost/server and appropriate VM from the list) but no dice. The app just sits there for ever without any connection.
    7.  I am baffled and surprised no one has a solution.  Tried multiple search engines.
    8. The host machine is patch current as of today and there are no patches available to try.  Reading through some forums, I have also installed some hotfixes with no luck.
    9. Finally, I can see the little graphic for each VM changing as windows is loading or stopping in server manager for hyper-v.
Hoping someone has a solution.  The error that pops up is exactly similar and no clues of the faulting module.
    Appreciate your time and help.

  • Intel VPRO managment engine - cant get "initiate remote connection"

    Hi Everyone
When configuring the intel ME bios to enable KVM access on my new ThinkCentre M93P machines, i no longer get the option "Press 2 to initiate a remote connection" when i turn the machine on and hit CTRL+P
What used to happen (and still works fine on ThinkPads) is that the first time you hit CTRL+P you go into the intel management engine setup screen.  Then once setup, the next time you hit CTRL+P , rather than go straight into the manegement engine BIOS you would get two options:
Press 1 to enter ME configuration screens
Press 2 to initiate a remote connection
However on the Thinkcentres i cant get it to give me these two options, it always goes into the ME screens.   Anyone else succesfully using this feature?
    Thanks for any help

    Hi,
iChat to iChat, Google ID to Google ID works.
It invokes exactly the same A/V side of iChat.
This does require that the ports are allowed (UPnP) or opened (Port Forwarding or Port triggering) in the connection device that you have.
It requires that you do not have two device at one end doing DHCP (just bad Networking) and in some cases iChat needs to make sure the LAN is specifically set up on the NAT front.
Tell us what device you have at both ends and what you have done to set them up for iChat please.
Also is the other end actually an Error 8 like your is ?
Is it Error 4 as this would tend to mean Internet Sharing was turned On and should be Off.
Error 7s are about security features in one of the devices.
