Hyper-V Network Card No External Access

Hi,
I have a really weird problem with my Hyper-V VMs. I have a win12k server running hyper-v, 2 VM servers and 2 Win7 Pro workstations. The server has 64gb ram, 2 CPUs with 16 cores each, 4 NICs in a single team - Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver
- I created a external switch on the Hyper-V infrastructure connecting the NIC team to the Hyper-V switch vEthernet (VM NIC).
The hyper-v and the two server VMs are all on fixed IPs and the Win7 Pro on DHCP. The Hyper-V Server has DNS and DHCP installed. There are two other physical WIN 7 Pro workstations on the network and all 4 Win7 Pro machines get DHCP addresses from the DHCP
server.
Now the problem; I have no problems with the two physical win7 pro workstations, the two VMs one can browse the external internet and the other can't. The weird thing is that they both have correct settings under the IP Configuration, which is below; but
one seems to be in internal mode only,  as I can see the internal network but nothing external to the network. Any

To further complicate things, if I turn off on of the VMs, after a while the other starts working fine.
So, any help would be appreciated as this is getting frustrating.
thanks

Does the order in which you boot up the VMs have any impact on which one can reach the internet?
Such as; the first one that boots always gets out, no matter the VM.
This would point to a MAC limiting feature on your physical switch.
The other is, since you have teamed NICs, do both have active connections.

  • After Removing and Readding of an Hyper-V Network Card - No RDP Session to this W2008 R2 Host possible

    Hello ,
I removed and after this i readded an virtual Network Card from an W2008 R2 Hyper-V virtual Machine.
After this RDP Connections from this VM to other Servers are working. But when i try to connect from an other machine to this VM over RDP i become the Error "The Computer cant connect to the Remote Computer" .
The W2008 R2 Server Firewall is disabled. The Remote Desktop Service is enabled.
    Thanks for Help .
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    1. Is the server listening on TCP 3389?  You may check this in the VM by opening an administrator command prompt and entering the following:
    netstat -ano
If yes, please verify using Task Manager that the process id listed is the TermServ service.
    2. From within the VM, are you able to Remote Desktop to localhost?  For the test, please use a different account than you logged on to the VM with.
    3. Are you able to ping this VM from other servers/VMs?
    Thanks.

  • How do I connect my external hard drive with all of my digital media to my Apple TV network and make it accessable 24/7?

How do I connect my external hard drive with all of my digital media to my Apple TV network and make it accessable 24/7?  I have the latest Apple TV, ipads, iPhones as well as a solid HP Windows machine all on my home network.  Is there a way that I can connect my hard drive to my receiver or Apple TV directly so that the digital media is available on my network 24/7 rather than have it connected to my computer and available through Home Share which never works anyway??

Sorry it's all done through iTunes.

  • Cannot configure External Network card

I cannot connect externel Network card to the system.OS cannot see the newly installed networkcard. My OS is SOlaris 10 x86 5/08. i tried different types of Network card Realtek,Datalink. Network Card number is D-Linkk DL10038C .Couldnt find any driver for this Network card that support for Solaris.
Can any one help me please....

Probably as stupid question but is there a way to export the driver from OpenSolaris to Solaris 10 as OpenSolaris supports the NIC?
By the way, I don't know if it matters but the info for my NIC on Solaris 10 appears both in */boot/solaris/devicedb/master* and */etc/driver_aliases*. It's just that the system doesn't detect it, when I run ifconfig -a it only lists the loopback interface.

  • Hyper-V networking and connection manager software

    Hi All,
I've just started running client hyper-v on windows 8.1 and have found a huge issue (well huge for me). We use iPass where I work to grant us access to wifi hotspots around the globe and also as a connection manager so it always uses the fastest/best connection.
However I have noticed that once you configure networking for hyper-v the ipass client looses sight of the ethernet card and can no longer detect it. As a result I've been getting stuck onto a public wifi hotspot when connected to ethernet in the office
as iPass doesn't see an ethernet device.
I've checked this by deleting the hyper-v network and rebooting and then iPass springs into life and disables both wifi and wwlan as it can see I have a lan connection. I've also tried this using vodafones mobile broadband software instead of iPass and found
    the same issue exists.
It would appear that when hyper-v creates the virtual adaptor everything else looses access to the physical nic. right now I have removed networking from my local VMs but any help with this is greatly appreciated.
    As ever, thanks in advance.
    S

tried sharing and bridging neither work. as soon as the hyper-v network is created the hardware appears to be hidden from anything other than the OS.
This is only an issue if your creating a switch with external access. Creating an internal switch where you have access to the VMs from the local host is fine, so it seems related to whatever hyper-v is doing with actual network card.

  • Configuring BO Mobile with external access

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to configure Business Objects Mobile in my company server (windows 2008) with an external access to it. I have two servers - master and client (hyper V). I installed BOBJI 4.0 server and BOXI client on master server and planning to have mobile server on hyper V. I have gone through the SAP documents on installation and deployment but confused on installing and configuring mobile server and accessibility both internally (wireless router) and externally (outside company network)
    1) Is it a better practice to have mobile sever on hyper v?
    2) Should i create a proxy server for the process? If on which one should be - master or client?
If anybody has done similar to this, can they share any documentation or best practices followed?
    Appreciate your earliest help.
    regards,
    Arun

    Hi Durga,
in intranet we will have HTTP it is working fine.
    in Internet HTTPS. issue occurs.
Previously we are using the mobile client version which less than 5.1 Release. we never had any issue with HTTP or HTTPS.
Today we have upgraded mobile client to 5.1.32. And issue started occurring.
we are not using any VPN to connect. our web url is enabled in internet to access the reports.
Note:we have verified the web url in the internet by connecting it from other system which is out of our network. There launchpad/CMS are working fine without having any issue with HTTPS.
    Only issue in Mobile Device.

  • Some VM don't recognize virtual network cards

    Hi all,
I have an hyper-v install with a dell T320 server with two ethernet cards from Broadcom and Windows Server 2012 R2 as hyper-v server.
I have one VM with 2012 R2 and one another host with 2012 Std. All the systems are working fine since we make the install.
Since this morning I see that the 2012 Std server is not able to connect to the network.
I shutdown all VMs, delete the Vswitch, delete the physical network card, restart the host, recreate a new vswitch and reconnect the VMs to it. I access the network on 2012 R2 but in 2012 Std the OS see no network card.
    What can I do.

    Hi Derick,
    Please try following steps :
    1. Configure Device Manager in the VM to show hidden devices (the article says it is for XP but it works on all Windows OS')
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539
    2. Delete all virtual NICs and when you delete the last one, also delete the driver when prompted.
    3. Shut down the VM.
    4. Remove the NIC from the VM settings.
    5. Start the VM with no NIC.
    6. Log in to the VM, then shut it down again.
    7. Add a NIC back to the VM.
    8. Start the VM again.
    9. Configure the new NIC with a static IP.
    10. Reboot and see if that resolves the problem.
If it still doesn't work , I would suggest you to attach the problematic VM's VHD file to a new VM .
    Best Regards,
    Elton Ji

  • Add network card to virtual machine and all available virtual networks aren't showing

Have a Hyper V 2012 cluster....we have a network card cabled for our DMZ network ...it's enabled.
Under a host in cluster in  Virtual Switch Manager we have the virtual switch configured as external and it matches up with NIC number in the OS network connections...NIC 9.  It's configured like the other virtual switches that are showing.
On our Hyper V Mgr console...under VM Networks..the DMZ network shows...I checked...settings same as other networks.
Still on our Hyper V Mgr console..under Logical Networks...the DMZ network shows...I checked...settings same as other networks.
When we go into Virtual Machine Mgr...hardware configuration for VM we created...add network adapter...the DMZ network doesn't show up in the list for VM networks so we can't assign IP or really add NIC in general.
I was able to go to an actual Hyper V host...under Hyper V Mgr that the VM was running on this particular host and I was able to add a network card/virtual switch..VM can ping devices...however if I go into the Hyper V Mgr in the Hyper V Mgr server and go
to properites of VM...a NIC is not listed.

  • Network Card in X200

Is there a way that I can see what the specs are on the internal network card that came with the X.200 ?  If it is not available via my PC, would there be a document on the website that would give me the information?   I tried a search but I could not get  a specs page.

Tnx guys, I found both instances.
I want IPV6 on so I can participate in the World IPV6 Test on June 8, 2011.
Yahoo, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Intel and many others ... big world wide test of IPV6 and dual stack URLs.
I know there is a lot of hype surrounding this test, but I am still interested.  I ran the test at IPV6Test.org.  I can not access IPV6 URLs at this time, but at least I know there is nothing else I need to do at my end as a home user.
My ISP is not  ready.  I can only assume that they are upgrading their equipment to service their clients for the long transition.   I also think they are currently hoarding IPV4 addresses. They will be recycling them until users start yelling at them ... or the organizing body starts implementing its own rules.  I'm babbling on here ...   Bye.

  • VPN with 2 network cards - vpn clients cannot see LAN.

Problem: When a VPN client connects they can only access the server and not any LAN computers. Unable to even ping the LAN computers. The VPN client machine connects via PPTP and receives the appropriate IP address but the subnet mask field is blank. The router is being set to 192.168.1.2
    Here's my network setup:
en0: (external) IP: 192.168.1.2 and is connected to aDSL modem (192.168.1.1)
    en1: (internal net) IP: 192.168.2.1
    The internal en1 network range is: 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.25
The VPN range being handed out is: 192.168.2.26 - 192.168.2.30
VPN client machines are able to fully interact with the server, just cannot reach any LAN computers.
    Any ideas??

    >The network address at the vpn client location is not 192.168.2.0/24. The vpn client has a public IP.
So you're saying that your client system has a 192.168.2.x address, and that's also the address range you're using behind the VPN?
    That won't work.
You now have two 192.168.2.x networks - one local to the client and one over the VPN.
Normal routing rules dictate that the local connection wil always take priority over the remote connection, so the client will look on the local LAN for anything in the 192.168.2.x range, completely ignoring the VPN.
If you think about it, your machine is told that it has two paths to get to anything in the 192.168.2.x network, either directly connected, or across the VPN connection. Given teh choice, which one do you think you'd take?
The only real solution here is to use a different subnet at each end of the link - either change the client network to something else, or change the internal corp network. If you don't do that you'll have to set up host-based routes (one per system over the VPN) that overrides the local routing table (assuming that's even possible... I'd have to think about it).

You cannot use (pure) Java to access the raw network data.

I am using SURPLUSMETER I am also using Apple Airport Time Capsule as my Router that is connected to my Satellite dish Internet Modem ... Now on the Surplusmeter I have the option for PPP Modem . Ethernet Port , Airport , Network Card , & Adaptor .
Which one can I use properly to monitor all the wireless Devices in my hous

Actually, none of the options will do what you are looking for it to do. That is because, this application only monitors the traffic from the device it is hosted on. That would also mean that you would have to run a copy on each computer that will access the Internet on your network; note their individual usages, and then, combine them to get an idea of the total usage.
However, if you are only interested in the amount of Wi-Fi traffic that only your computer is seeing, then the "AirPort Network Card" option would be the correct choice.

  • How to web filtering via two network cards?

I have Installed Server 2008 and two network cards
on my pc. One LAN card for clients access and one for internet router. I need to share internet connection to my client computers with
web filtering. So how to do that? I need to block some sites to client access.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use the WS 2008 to share Internet connection and provide web filtering function for internal clients.
Internal clients –(NIC1) WS 2008(NIC2) – Internet router – Internet network
Manually assign IP address, default gateway, DNS server, etc. on NIC2. Manually assign IP address, DNS server, etc. on NIC1.
Install Network Policy and Access Services – Routing and Remote Access Services. Detailed steps reference:
Install and Enable the Routing and Remote Access Service
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770798(v=ws.10).aspx
Then open Routing and Remote Access and start configuration. Enable NAT on NIC2 to transfer IP address. Detailed steps reference:
    Enable and Configure NAT
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd469812.aspx
Windows Server itself does not support web-based filter, third-party tools with application-layer firewall might be needed to realize this function. Configure WS as a router, it supports IP packet filtering, which specifies which type of traffic is allowed
into and out of the router. Reference:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732746(v=ws.10).aspx

  • Lync 2013 mobility and external access not working

    Hi all.
I installed and configured Lync Server 2013 Front End and Lync Server 2013 Edge on Windows Server 2012 R2.
Internal lync clients (not mobile) can successfully connect to server and everything works fine for them. External users can connect only with manual configuration of address of external lync server in lync client, autodiscovery doesn't work.
I also installed and configured IIS ARR Reverse Proxy on Windows Server 2012 R2 using this article -
http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2013/02/19/using-iis-arr-as-a-reverse-proxy-for-lync-server-2013.aspx. But it doesn't work too. When I try to connect I get 'Unable to connect to the server. Check your network connection or the server address and
    try again'.
I configured dns records in the external dns zone.
    For Edge:
    sip.extdomain.ru – IP1
    lyncwebconf.extdomain.ru – IP2
    lyncav.extdomain.ru – IP3
    For Reverse Proxy:
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru - IP4
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru - IP4
I issued all needed certificates by the internal CA and added following alternative names.
    For FE certificate:
    sip.cherry.loc
    lync.cherry.loc
    dialin.cherry.loc
    meet.cherry.loc
    admin.cherry.loc
    lyncdiscoverinternal.cherry.loc
    lyncdiscover.cherry.loc
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru
For Edge external and Reverse Proxy:
    lyncav.extdomain.ru
    sip.extdomain.ru
    lyncwebconf.extdomain.ru
    lyncdialin.extdomain.ru
    lyncmeet.extdomain.ru
    lyncextweb.extdomain.ru
    lyncdiscover.extdomain.ru
    cherry.loc
The root certificate of internal CA installed on all servers and client devices.
Using Wireshark I see that Reverse Proxy communicating with FE on port 4443.

  • How to configure Time Capsule etc as a local network server with remote access server and for backups

I'm trying to set up new 3TB Time Capsule as a wireless network server (with remote access) and for backups for use in a small office (of two Macs). We have a late 2011 Intel MBP and a brand new MBA both running 10.8.3. We have two external 1TB hard drives that until now have been attached the MBP for storage and backing up that computer, which up until now was the only machine in use. The MBA is for a new employee and we need to share and work on the same files, both here in the office and ideally remotely too via Back to my Mac. The MBP needs constant access. The MBA only occasional. The TC has 7.6.3 firmware and we've set it up using AirPort Utility 6.2. It is currently attached to the MBP via ethernet and it has internet access via a Sagemcom router attached to TC's WAN port.
We've managed to set up a wireless network and both have wireless internet access through the TC
But there are so many issues I don't know where to begin - so I'll start with a description of what we're trying to achieve:
I planned to use the TC as the main server drive and place all the key folders and files there so that both of us can access them wirelessly and remotely. The MBP would back up to the TC and to one or two of the external hard drives - one being attached to the Mac via USB and the other being attached to the TC's USB port. We would back up the important data on the TC using SuperDuper and copy it to both external USB drives.
So , first of all, is that a sensible configuration? Should the 'server' be the one of the external hard drives attached to the TC USB port, backed up regularly to the TC using SuperDuper?

But when you say 'So using USB drive does make sense if you want to use it as a file store', do you mean a USB drive plugged into the TC? I hope that I can attach an external drive to the TC so we can all access and read/write the content wirelessly via the TC network or remotely.
Yes, USB.. as it prevents the sparsebundle mixing with data files. I guess it does depend on how much data you are talking about.. you can use the TC internal disk if you are careful and setup the sparsebundle with fixed sizes once you create them..
And to be clear, I wasn't planning on backing up remotely via BTMM - only to access the shared folders on the TC data drive or USB external drive attached to it. I'm assuming that's ok?
Yes, that is fine. Sorry I got the impression you were going to do backup over internet.
What is the alternative? Having a Mac Mini that's always on? Do I need OS X Server etc.?
A mini would be great.. you don't need server edition.. but I would see how the TC goes.. since you have it and it is much lower power consumption device. It is just that its design is not really for file storage.
One big problem I have is to do with the sharing permissions. For everything on the TC or attached external drive attached to it, it says I have only custom access and every time I try to change permissions it says I don't have the permission to do that. And if I try to change the owner it says my user name is not valid.
How is the security setup on the TC?
The security is a bit tricky.. I must admit since I run windows computer in the network, that I simply turn on the guest account to read and write access. For a business setup that might not be adequate  but it allows me full access to all the files.
If you setup the TC with user accounts then you are in trouble. That makes it very difficult to access, especially if one person already has the file open you may find a second user cannot login. I am not sure as I have avoided the security. IMHO it is meaningless.. since anyone with physical access to the TC can press the reset for one second and has full access.. and can add or change passwords.
