Hyper-V: Questions about Virtual Switches

Hello,
This question concerns a computer running Windows 8 Pro.
Using Hyper-V, I have created a virtual machine running Windows XP Pro. (we must use it to run a very old CAD program so that we can access our legacy drawings from years ago)
I am not concerned with Internet access for the virtual machine; I just want it to connect to our LAN.
Anyway, so far, so good; I created an external virtual switch, and it works just fine. However, I have noticed that the virtual switch "takes over" the computer's physical NIC. This is making network access from other computers to
this machine very, very slow. (it has other functions in this office)
So, I tried changing the virtual switch to either Internal or Private. This "released" the physical NIC and greatly sped up access to the physical machine, but now I cannot access the LAN from "inside" the virtual machine.
So, my questions are:
1. How do I access the LAN with a virtual switch that is set to Internal or Private? Is that possible?
2. If not.... if I added a second physical NIC to the computer just for the virtual switch, would that work?

Not possible. Internal is local to the hardware. Private is local to the VMs that are being managed only.

Yes, this is one solution.
The other solution is most likely to tune the driver settings of the physical NIC. Disabling the multiple TCP Task offloading options.

Question about central switching mode

Hi team
My customer's WLC is in following mode:
central authentication, central switching—In this state, the controller handles client authentication, and all client data is tunneled back to the controller. This state is valid only in connected mode.
He want to know what is the result if the AP loss the communication with WLC.
Does the AP can still provide service to clients?
If yes, is it all services?
In my opinion, in central switching mode, AP should not provide services any more after disconnect with WLC, and cannot add any clients too.
Do we have any URL or document about detail of flexconnect?

in local mode, once the link to the WLC goes down, the AP is down.

Software license question about Virtual PC 2007

I need to purchase another software license for the new one?

Question about lock switch for smart phones

i would like to ask about the lock switch for smart phones like Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic or Nokia 5230.
Will the lock switch loosen if we always slide to unlock it?

I've had my 3gs for about 3 weeks this sunday my switch seem's to be loose can i still exchange it?

You should still be within the warranty period for the phone. You'll want to make a Genius bar appointment and discuss the issue with them at your local Apple store. Alternatively, you can call Applecare and discuss the issue with them. They will make the final determination - we can't say for certain if they will replace or not.

Question about using Switches in different Software Layers

Hi all,
I have the following problem : I have Switch A and Business Function A in Software Layer 1, and Switch B and Business Function B in Software Layer 2(which is higher than Software Layer 1). Is it possible to assign both switches(A and B) to the Business Function B and switch them both on?Or is it possible to set the Business Function A as a prerequisite of the Business Function B?

Question about processor switch

Hello,
I just got my new 21.5 imac and I was wondering if anyone has changed processors before? I know, I know....this will void my warranty and all that good stuff, but its just a question. I see that the 21.5 inch uses the LGA 775 Socket T. In theory, this machine would support up to a Core 2 Quad Q9400. Am I correct to assume this? Thanks for the help.

Even if it works "in theory," the heat dissipation design may not be sufficient to handle the additional heat. And there may be additional power draw that is not accounted for in the design. I wouldn't "assume" it will work, just because the sockets are the same.

Question about Virtual Hosts with Apache 2

Hi,
I have a mac mini with 10.5.4 and I was wondering if it is possible to host two websites on this one computer. What I mean by this is I have an ip address 12.34.56.78 that points to the mac mini.
I also have two domain names, say example1.com and example2.com, each with total DNS control. Is it possible to point both domains to 12.34.56.78 and have different pages show. For example when example1.com is loaded, the file /Library/WebServer/Documents/example1/index.html is loaded. When example2.com is loaded, /Library/WebServer/Documents/example2/index.html is loaded.
I have tried to do this with virtual hosts, but I can't seem to get it to work. I seem to have permission problems with apache 2 and I get the forbidden error.
If anyone knows if this is possible, and how to do it that would be of great help. Thanks.

Question about Virtual Surro

Does the XFI CMSS-3D feature create a virtual surround using the multitrack audio information. Or does it create an expanded sound stage from the stereo track of the file?What are the settings needed to get true virtual surround over headphones?

I had my sound options set to headphones, naturally as I was using headphones. However I tried selecting 5. speakers and running the speaker test. Rear channels really sound like they're behind me although not stereo. Both LR and RR sound like there coming from the same place. Tried running a movie with a 5.. soundtrack and it sounded great.

Question About "The Switch"

I am definitely thinking about purchasing a MacBook, but before I do that, I need to know if I will be able to do the same things with it that I am able to do with my windows machine. The most important thing is word processing, I don't think MacBook comes with Microsoft Word as my computer came with, so what software does it come with. I also use PowerPoint and Excell frequently. I already use iTunes everyday so I know that won't be a problem. I also just bought a new Sony Cybershot and the picture software does not support Mac OS X, so does the MacBook come with some sort of picture software?

I think you can use any digital camera.Since iLife 06 we don't use manufacturers software.I threw away my Olympus software and I have imported from at least 5 different cameras to my PB without any additional software.I hink it's fully "plug-and-play".You can always test in a friend's Mac though...

Would a contact appear in my app switcher list if I had not called or text them? If so, what reason might that be?

all the contacts in your favorites ( i believe) are listed even if you havent contacted them recently - i assume the ones that only show texts is because you only texted them (or they you) - the ones that show calls and texts should mean they did both

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

OK; have been trying to setup a test VM based RDS deployment for a few days now with no luck.
this error mentioned above:
"Server <server name> either does not have a virtual switch configured or none of the configured virtual switches have an IP address assigned" error is driving me nuts!
I have removed and re-added the RD Virtualization Host role numerous times, each time having the "create a virtual switch" checkbox selected, but it did NOT create any virtual switch.
I created the external virtual switch manually and tried to create the desktop collection again, no luck with the same error.
a few questions:
1. you don't assign IP to a switch! you assign IP to Network Interfaces. why does the error puts it like this?! it is technically wrong.(yeah yeah I know all about how you'd assign IP to managed switches in real world to telnet into them and manage them.
you know better than me that it is not the case here!)
2.the RDS Virtualization hosts are using their wifi card as the card for the virtual switch. could that be the reason? I even disabled their unplugged wired NIC just to make sure that the wifi is the only available option for the RDS wizard to use for the
virtual switch creation; but it didn't use it and it didn't create any virtual switch automatically.
3.if WIFI nic is indeed the reason, is it your suspension or an official documents is there somewhere stating so (that the WIFI NICS on a Virtualization hosts are not supported as the hub for a virtual switch).
4.what are the properties of the virtual switch the RDS requires? does it have to be external? why can't it work even with my manually created external switch?
5.how would I fix it?
P.S: the environment is made up of 2 laptops, having windows 2012 R2 trial installed on them, using their wifi to connect to the out world. no cable is plugged into their wired NIC card.

The simplest short term solution was to connect each computer to a small switch that had no other connectivity. This brought up the link light on the external NIC and allowed the creation of the collection to complete. You need to use an external switch. You
can create one external switch which might fix the problem.

A few questions about my MacBook Pro?

Hey guys, I have a few questions about Virtual Machines and a few other random questions.
1. Which one is the most "complete" in its features when compared to a plain install of Win. 7?
2. Which VM should I purchase?
I have a 15" late 2012 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 ghz intel i7, 16gb ram and a 256gb SSD. (I was planning on running it off of an external hard drive— if that is possible)
3. I have 206.12 GB of 255.2 GB free— should I just use boot camp instead?
4. If I use Boot Camp, do I have to delete the data that's on my Mac currently to install Win. 7 or can I partition my current drive and keep my data?
5. What is the "other" data that's taking up 25.51 GB of space on my SSD? (I have the same problem on my iPhone, but that's a different problem.)
