Hyperion Backup of Windows and Oracle DB

<p>Hi,</p><p> </p><p>I have a question regarding Hyperion System 9 backup of windowsservers and Oracle/Essbase backup.</p><p> </p><p>Do we need to bring down all the services and backup all windowsservers and Oracle/Essbase together.  If we need to restoreonly windows or lets say Oracle.  Will that be out of sync. Do we have be in sync all the time ?</p><p> </p><p>Thanks</p><p> </p><p>Azmat Bhatti</p>

Hello,<BR>You did not specify which relation Essbase and Oracle have in your environment. I my answer I assume you create Essbase databases from your Oracle environment to analyze this data. You extract with SQL statements and rule files data from Oracle to build up your outlines and load the data. <BR><BR>In this, I would not say you need a synchronous backup, since with a new refresh your structure will be created and the data loaded. Ofcourse I would not recommend more than 24 hours between the backup of Essbase versus Oracle.<BR><BR>I hope this answered your question.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR>Philip Hulsebosch<BR><BR>www.Trexco.nl

i found that parameter but didn't know what to set to it i even has no forms in my pc thanks again
    Regards,
    Abdetu...Hi Abdetu,
There is 3 parameters in the <DevSuiteHome>\forms\server.formsweb.cfg having the same behavior.
    Logo
    Background
    SplashScreen
By default (if you don't have specified them in you [section] they values are inherited from the [default] section) the values are
    Logo=
    Background=
    SplashScreen=
This means you will have the oracle logo, the Forms Services background image in your applet and the oracle splash screen at startup.
*To have nothing shown then just put the value no in front of these 3 parameters*
    Logo=no
    Background=no
SplashScreen=noYou can also customize that with you own gif files.
For this you have to put your images in a icons.jar file
place it in your <DevSuiteHome>\forms\java where frmall.jar and others are located.
    then in your formsweb.cfg :
    Archive=frmall.jar, icons.jar
    ImageBase=CodeBase
    Logo=yourlogo.gif
    Background=yourbackground.gif
SplashScreen=yourbeautifullsplachscreen.gifAnd at least if you have a small gif in your icons.jar for the window you can also defining the Icon Filename property in Forms builder. This wile replace the default forms runtime icon.
    Hope this helps

Can I maintain Elements Tags and Stacking if I backup on Windows and restore on Mac

Thanks Barbara and Michel, confirming that backup on from Elements 10 on Windows 7 and restore to Mac OSX albeit slow worked fine preserving stacks and tags.
Previous experience of upgrading Elements 5 to 10 on Windows lost all stacks which put me in the dog house with my wife who had spent a lot of time creating them.

  • Nagios windows and Oracle environment

    Hi Gurus,
I'm planning to implement Nagios tool for SAP monitoring on windows and Oracle environment. Can any one help me on thisu2026u2026..??
    Regards
    Soumitra

    Dear Soumitra,
The only requirement of running Nagios is a machine running Linux (or UNIX variant) and a C compiler. You will probably also want to have TCP/IP configured, as most service checks will be performed over the network.
You can download that suggested plug-in. Extract it and read the Documentation available within that bundle.
The Following links may provide more details.

Also check this"Nagios Toolbox for Windows hosts"

  • Online backup for Windows and Mac

Is there an online backup service that works with Windows and Mac and lets you use the same login? Meaning, one service, one service to pay and same login? Also, the service shouldn't bill by each desktop (as Mozy does) but instead by overall space needed.
I currently use one service for Windows and another for Mac. I'd like to consolidate everything.

That's always the risk, it's what happened to MediaMax (though in their case it was technical incompetence). They've been around for at least a year, but I can't offer any guarantees, obviously.
the MobileMe idisk might be a possible solution but it's not brilliant with Windows.

  • Windows And Oracle Problem

    Hi...
Our server is Windows server 2003 64 bit on which SAP IDES 6.0 is there.
its working fine. then we have remove Domin through RUN>DCPROMO command so all my user has been removed so i have again created windows users.
after that all my service working fine with Dispatcher.
but when i am trying to logon with SAPLOGON its giving "Application server shutdown" and then Dispatcher service is getting stop.
then i am trying in SQL Plus with Username/Pwd it is giving following error.
    "Oracle not available.
Shared Memory realm does not exsist."
i have tried with already available forums but its not working.
Following group are also not available in windows group
    ORA_XEP_DBA
    ORA_XEP_OPER
    SAP_LocalAdmin
    SAP_XEP_LocalAdmin
    SAP_XEP_GlobalLocalAdmin
i have added in Oracle forum but not helpful so i think windows users can help
    Kindly help.

    > now my oracle is up but not able to login in sap.
    Your system is hosed up.
    > one is : oraclesri102isql*plus service is not getting started.
That service is not important for a SAP system.
    Chintan,
it is not supported to make changes to a domain structure after you installed the system (see the given note). That's why your SAP system is not coming up, all filesystem-, registry and user permissions are invalid.
The only way to resurrect your system is to reinstall it.
Configure first the operating system (as standalone or in a domain) - and then install the SAP system, not vice versa.

  • Doubt with Windows and Oracle Forms 10G and 11g

    Hi
I have some doubts in installing Oracle Client on Windows.
a)Can we install Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g client on Windows 7?
b)Can we install Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g client on Windows XP?
c)If we have an Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g, can it connect to a 10g Server?
d)If we have an Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g Client, can it connect to an 11g Server?
Please, Can any one help me in this????

a)yes it can be installed on win7, may have some issues on 64bit systems but they're solvable
b)11g had some problems with windows 2000, but didn't see mention of any problems on XP
c)if you mean a database server then yes - i managed to connect 11g to an 8i database, so v10 should not be a problem. If you mean a forms/reports server..well newer forms/reports builder might not want to run old forms/reports and vice versa, but I don't see the point of operating on the same files from different versions. You can still load old form/report source files with a newer builder and recompile them to run on the new server.
    d) the "client" is effectively your web browser with a java plugin, unless I misunderstood your question. What version was a form/report compiled with should not be an issue.

  • BO Enterprise XI for Windows and Oracle 11.2

    Hi
Currently we are running BO Enterprise XI for Windows 3.1 SP3 which SAP does not support on Oracle 11.2.  Does this limitation only apply for the repository and audit database but not for the reporting database?
Can the Oracle 11.2 client be used with BO Enterprise XI for Windows 3.1 SP3 as long as the database is 10.2 or 11.1?
Is there any info on when SAP will support Oracle 11.2, SP4 or 4.0?
    Thanks
    Tom Cullen
    Oracle DBA

    Hi Tom,
Not sure if BOE is going to support 11.2 as the CMS database, check through SMP to access the platforms for BOE. CR will typically work with any version as a reporting database only. [Platforms |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/30da6fbd-7d4f-2d10-a38c-96596304586b] currently only shows 11.1 but unless Oracle made some significant changes it should work. If you find problems post the issue or create a case in SMP and a Rep can log the issues and determine if it's something we can fix etc. and get it added to the supported platforms.
I can't give you links to the Doc's in SMP, My links won't work for you.
Is there an error you are getting or are you just looking for info?
    Thank you
    Don

  • ECC5 installation on Windows and Oracle

    Hi Basis/Netweaver Gurus,
i m planning to install a New SAP ECC5 IDES installation.
i have few quesions on this. Can anybody give the answers please.
    Deatails:
Central instance host name alfxyz SID is EC5
Database instance hostname alfxyz2 SID is EC6
Can i install ECC5 IDES using above parameters---Yes/NO?
if yes how to connect different SIDs into in one installation?
if No what are the reasons? Please let me know.
    Really appreciable these help..
    Thanks and regards,
    Suresh

    Hi,
No, You cant install with 2 different SIDs for a Single SAP Server.
Central and Database Instance SID should be same for a SAP system, hostname may be different.
It is also possible when you do distributed installation, for that u need 2 system.
    System1 - Central Instance, System2 -  Database Instance.
In this case hostname is different, but you have to use the same database.
    Hope it helps
    Regards
    KT

  • Error Installing CE 7.2 on WIndows 2008R2 and Oracle 11 g2

During the install of the Database Instance at RDMS Client Oracle selection page even after selecting the correct version of Oracle client down loaded form SAP following message is displayed:

Would be grateful if anybody can suggest a solution. Have not been able to find anything about this in SAP notes or SDN for Windows and Oracle 11.2 g
    Thanks
    T.K.

    Hi Tarek,
I hope you might have resolved this issue by now.
    Solution:
This issue seems that you have not given the correct path of the "Oracle Client" which will be 10.0G, rather giving the oracle software location of Oracle 11.2G. You need to download Oracle client 10G from marketplace from the same place where you have downloaded the master DVD installation media and provide this path.
    Best Regards,

  • Where does iPhone store backups in Mac and Windows?

Sorry I could not find the answer elsewhere.
Where does iPhone store backups on Windows and Mac?
    Can the location be changed?
    Thanks!

    Mac:
    Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
(Note you may need to turn on show hidden files and folders to see it on Windows)
As far as I know, you can't change it.
    Good Luck!

  • Backup Windows and MacBook to the same HD

I am new to the Mac and would like to do Time Machine backups to an external USB HD. I would like to backup both Windows and Mac computers to this hard drive. What is the best way to go about this? I am thinking Mac may have something that is installed on the windows machine to recognize the HD or the Mac is going to have some tool for me to partition the HD off for each OS.
Please point me in the right direction. In its current state the Mac is backed up but the windows machines can not access the HD. The only option is to format. I think I just want to repartition. What is the default file structure called on a mac. Jesus I am a noob.

Use Applications>Utilities>DiskUtility to put two partitions on the external HD. Make the first one MacOS Extended Journaled, and the second FAT32. You can use Windows to reformat the FAT32 to NTFS if you desire. TM will have no problem using the Mac partition and will ignore the FAT32.

  • Out of memory using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.3

    Hi,
I just installed both Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.3. The server I am using has 4 gigabytes of memory installed, and windows shows that to be the actual physical memory on the server. The paging file is 8 gigabytes for a total of 12 gigabytes of virtual memory.
Using the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, I create a new database using default values. After verifying the installation worked OK (database started, queries ran), I attempted to change some of the memory parameters and was able to start the database using about 1.4 gigabytes of total SGA, with the O/S using about .3 gigabytes for a total of 1.7 gigabytes. I then attempted to change the buffer cache + 1 gigabyte for a total of 2 gigabytes. Now the database will not start and I get an out of memory error ora-27102 with an additional O/S memory error of "O/S Error: (OS 8) Not enough storage is available to process this command".
    So, I have two problems:
    1) With 4 gigabytes installed, and the O/S using only about 300 megabytes, why isn't Oracle able to take advantage of the memory on this machine past the 1.7 gigabytes (as reported by Windows task manager).
    2) How do I change the spfile memory parameters so the database will start using spfile? I can start the database pointing to a pfile with lesser memory parameters, but I don't know how to effect change on the spfile, since I cannot start with the spfile.
Both these technologies (9.2.0.3 and Server 2003) are new to me, so any insight would be appreciated!
HERE ARE THE SPFILE PARAMETERS THAT WORKED:

    Thank you.

    CREATE SPFILE
    Purpose
Use the CREATE SPFILE statement to create a server parameter file from a client-side initialization parameter file. Server parameter files are binary files that exist only on the server and are called from client locations to start up the database.
Server parameter files let you make persistent changes to individual parameters. When you use a server parameter file, you can specify in an ALTER SYSTEM SET parameter statement that the new parameter value should be persistent. This means that the new value applies not only in the current instance, but also to any instances that are started up subsequently. Traditional client-side parameter files do not let you make persistent changes to parameter values. Because they are located on the server, these files allow for automatic database tuning by Oracle and for backup by Recovery Manager (RMAN).
To use a server parameter file when starting up the database, you must create it from a traditional text initialization parameter file using the CREATE SPFILE statement.
All instances in an Real Application Clusters environment must use the same server parameter file. However, when otherwise permitted, individual instances can have different settings of the same parameter within this one file. Instance-specific parameter definitions are specified as SID.parameter = value, where SID is the instance identifier.
The method of starting up the database with a server parameter file depends on whether you create a default or nondefault server parameter file. Please refer to "Creating a Server Parameter File: Examples" for examples of how to use server parameter files.

CREATE PFILE for information on creating a regular text parameter file from a binary server parameter file

Oracle9i Real Application Clusters Administration for information on using server parameter files in a Real Application Clusters environment
    Prerequisites
You must have the SYSDBA or the SYSOPER system privilege to execute this statement. You can execute this statement before or after instance startup. However, if you have already started an instance using spfile_name, you cannot specify the same spfile_name in this statement.
    Syntax
    create_spfile::=
    Text description of create_spfile
    Semantics
    spfile_name
This clause lets you specify a name for the server parameter file you are creating.
If you do not specify spfile_name, Oracle uses the platform-specific default server parameter filename. If spfile_name already exists on the server, this statement will overwrite it. When using a default server parameter file, you start up the database without referring to the file by name.
If you do specify spfile_name, you are creating a nondefault server parameter file. In this case, to start up the database, you must first create a single-line traditional parameter file that points to the server parameter file, and then name the single-line file in your STARTUP command.
    See Also:
"Creating a Server Parameter File: Examples" for information on starting up the database with default and nondefault server parameter files
Oracle9i Database Administrator's Guide for Windows (or other appropriate operating system specific documentation) for default parameter file names
    pfile_name
Specify the traditional initialization parameter file from which you want to create a server parameter file.
If you specify pfile_name, the parameter file must reside on the server. If it does not reside in the default directory for parameter files on your operating system, you must specify the full path.
If you do not specify pfile_name, Oracle looks in the default directory for parameter files on your operating system for the default parameter filename, and uses that file. If that file does not exist in the expected directory, Oracle returns an error.
    Note:
In a Real Application Clusters environment, you must first combine all instance parameter files into one file before specifying it in this statement to create a server parameter file. For information on accomplishing this step, see Oracle9i Real Application Clusters Setup and Configuration.
    Examples
Creating a Server Parameter File: Examples
The following example creates a default server parameter file from a client initialization parameter file named t_init1.ora:
    CREATE SPFILE
    FROM PFILE = '$ORACLE_HOME/work/t_init1.ora';
    Note:
Typically you will need to specify the full path and filename for parameter files on your operating system. Please refer to your Oracle operating system documentation for path information.
When you create a default server parameter file, you subsequently start up the database using that server parameter file by using the SQL*Plus command STARTUP without the PFILE parameter, as follows:
    STARTUP
The following example creates a nondefault server parameter file s_params.ora from a client initialization file named t_init1.ora:
    CREATE SPFILE = 's_params.ora'
    FROM PFILE = '$ORACLE_HOME/work/t_init1.ora';
When you create a nondefault server parameter file, you subsequently start up the database by first creating a traditional parameter file containing the following single line:
    spfile = 's_params.ora'
The name of this parameter file must comply with the naming conventions of your operating system. You then use the single-line parameter file in the STARTUP command. The following example shows how to start up the database, assuming that the single-line parameter file is named new_param.ora:
    STARTUP PFILE=new_param.ora

    Hi all.
I did a new Oracle Secure Backup installation.
I implemented a real simple domain:
a Linux box is the media/administrative server. Then I have some Windows and Linux Client.
On a Windows 2000 server SP4 box I'm experiencing an error.
On certain directories i get the following:
The directory is not a subdirectory of the root directory.
On certain files I get the following instead:
    The directory name is invalid.
The OSB service is running under the local system account on the client.
Can you help me trouble this error?
    Thanks
    Giovanni

    Thanks for your reply.
    Disks are mounted using CIFS.
we got the fix for this, need to do the following changes.
    # Turns off locking
    echo 0 > /proc/fs/cifs/OplockEnabled
    # Turns off inode caching
    echo 0 > /proc/fs/cifs/LookupCacheEnabled
    cheers...
