  • Old Hyperion Developer Network

    Hi,
Does anybody where the old Hyperion Developer Network can now be found.
The old site is now redirecting to the OTN but I cannot find any of the Essbase utilities which were available on the HDN.
    Many Thanks.
    Sebastien

Oracle is a little different then Hyperion, in some ways a lot better, but since they are bigger they also have more lawyers and I think the idea of having "utilities" on an Oracle website, implies that Oracle endorses the utilities. Since many of these were written by users with no formal testing, if someone were to use them in an Enterprise environment and take out a NOC, Oracle would look pretty foolish, and be subject to legal action. Now I'm exaggerating, but the point is we live in litigious society and the lawyers make the rules, so until Oracle has had a chance to go through and figure out a way to put the utilities out there without exposing themselves to legal recourse, I think we're going to have to wait. I'm told they are working on it, hopefully it will be soon.

There are certain utilities (import/export security, etc) that can only be run from the server, so I always ask for remote access to the server. I don't always get it (which slows development down), but I always ask.

  • Permissions in AD not populating

I have two environments both running SharePoint 2013:
    1. My Dev environment
    2. Customer production environment
I go through the following procedure to add users to security groups. In My development environment this works fine and permissions are assigned as expected. In my customer's environment I'm getting problems for the bold sections. It sometimes takes a week
sometimes a day for users to actually get permissions.
    Create an AD group “MyADGroup”
Add a user “UserA”  the AD group
Create a SharePoint security group “MySPGroup”
Add MyADGroup to MySPGroup in SharePoint’s permissions settings
Check permissions on UserA -> permissions are supplied directly
Add UserB to the AD group
Check permissions on UserB -> permissions are supplied directly
Logged in as User B and I’m getting access to the site without any problem.
The problem only seems to occur when I add new people to existing AD groups. It looks like SharePoint doesn't apply the AD group changes. The time that we have to wait for the AD changes to be applied seems to be random as issues do disappear randomly (not
after a certain period of time and not always on the same day of the week)

The problem arises from the fact that SharePoint caches claims tokens, including tokens for groups.  So it can take up to 24 hours for a new user to actually get their permissions based on being added to an existing AD group.  This article explains
    the issues:

  • File permissions for a deployed ias 6.5 app

    i am running ias 6.5 on HP-UX 11.1
I have ear files deployed on 3 different servers and all of the in house developed apps are deployed with 775 permissions.
    /iplanet/ias6/ias/APPS/$APP_NAME
Such that $APP_NAME is 775 and so are all files recursively under it.
This week our developer deployed some test apps and they are deploying with 755 permissions. I then noticed that the default test apps like 'fortune' are also 755.
I want the test apps deployed as 775. Does anyone know how to control this? Outside of recursively chmod after deployment.
What causes some to deploy at 755 and some at 775?

Well, it looks like you haven't actually configured a datasource with that name. You've only configured the use of the datasource were it to exist. I don't know iPlanet, so you'll have to consult the docs to find out how to create the DS.

  • MS Access DB permissions problem

Tried to connect to MS Access as a source db :
SQL developer 3.0 connects but does not capture the access db, i don't the content of tables - only can make copy of tables .
SQL developer 2.1 shows alert - "Change Permissions for Access db - No Read rights fo system tables..."
    what shoud i do?
    Edited by: user1550830 on 18.10.2010 9:21

In SQL Developer 3.0, we have removed the quick migrate functionality and replaced it with a new wizard.
Most people just want to move tables and data and for that they can right click on the tables they want to move and copy them to the connection of their choice.
If you want more than this, then you still need to run the Microsoft Access Exporter for your version of Access. This is documented in the Online help and is available from the tools > Migration menu. Using the files create by this exporter, you can then run the wizard for access and import those files from the exporter and carry on as normal.
    Thanks

  • Hyperion Services Manager

    Hi,
I wanted to know if any of you is aware of a utility called Hyperion Services Manager. If I am correct it was developed by the Hyperion Developer Network. Can anyone tell me how I can get this utility?
    Shehzad

I made a primitive .net application as well but it was more of a waste of time, since everytime i'd think of a different scenario and then change the code. It wasn't that comprehensive. I think with V11 the service startup sequence shouldn't be a problem (although I haven't worked with V11 so can't be sure about that).
As far as the monetization goes, I'm not sure how viable this application would be, but I'd be glad to collaborate with you and get a product up and running.

  • Insufficient Permissions - can't install CF10 - OSX

Noob.. installing CF10, Developer, says I don't have permissions to for my Startup Items folder, but I'm the only user. Is it because my MacOSX password is (purposely) blank?
Also.. "Enter the username and password for remote start/stop administration." ... does this mean create one or that I should have one (from where?).  I do use a CF host (YoHost) ... is it that info?
    Like I said... Noob!
Just trying to deploy a new app and use my Mac to test... is this possible or is a remote server a required component?
    - Rand

Can you check permission to /Library/StartupItems by using getInfo or the ls -al command. If your user account has no write or execute permission, you can modify permission to the directory in the getInfo windows or with the chmod.
When insalling CF if you choose to install the admin component for remote start/stop, you are required to specify a password for , new of course, for the component. This Component is used to remotely start/stop the server from applications such as Server Manager, Instance Manager in ColdFusion Administrator, or ColdFusion Builder. • Security (permissions)

    Hello,
As I understand permissions can be set on beans and their methods, but what if I need to check object state to decide whether user can change it or not?
What I need is to implement permissions system that can be changed on the fly and some advanced checks are required (objects states + users permissions on objects states).
Can I implement it using standart J2EE security featurs? System must be configurable (need to develop administration tool that will allow permissions assignemnt to the users and objects (for axample object can be changed if it is in state 'A' and user 'Paul' can change it)). I need to make it in one way not in several (not like: one part using standart J2EE features and other using my own permission system).
    With regards,
    Pavel Krupets

    Pavel,
I belive you are looking for a way to configure access to your components such that who can access them
is a function of component state. You can write portable components such that this is the case, but J2EE
does not standardize how one might configure the impact of component state on such a policy model.
On all J2EE platforms, you can configure role membership such that it effects who can do what given a
static model for what roles are able to do what in each component state. You can either protect different
methods with different roles, or test the caller for membership in a specific role seclected by the
component based on the state of the component.
As an added consideration, the Java Authorization Contract for Containers (JACC), which is a required
element of all J2EE 1.4 containers, defines a pluggability model for policy providers and a way (policy
context handlers) for such providers to obtain from the container the parameters of the component
invocation. The parameters of the invocation are not quite the same thing as the instance state, but one
way that you could accomplish much of what you are trying to do would be to develop a custom policy
provider that could be configured to apply the parameters of the invocation in its policy decisions. As a
result of JACC, on dispatch into the component, a proper access control context including a subject
representing the component runAs identity has been bound to the call thread, and thus you can use the
j2se security api's to check whether that context is granted any j2se security permission.
Custom policy providers are an evolving J2EE capability, so I must confess that you would
likely encounter portability challenges should you adopt this approach. I described it to you to
expose our thinking regarding how we believe more sophisticated access control functionality
could be integrated with the j2ee container security architecture.
