Hyperion DRM 11.1.1.43 new install issues
Hi,
I'm totally new to DRM and have just installed the product. I then launched the DRM console and tried to start the server but am seeing this message in the Event Log:
Exception in Data Relationship Management Service: EOleSysError: The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password
Is this referring to the username and password to start the service? If so, I went to Services and verified the process was using a userid withAdministrative authority. Still no luck...
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Also... I have a question regarding the Database Settings Configuration.
During the install I specified to have the oracle schema created and supplied the schema username and password. However on the Database Settings > Connections tab has two logins:
mdm_system and mdm_db
What are the default passwords for these 2 users? When I try to connect, I'm prompted for a password but always get the message... passwords do not match?
Help? I've read the install guide but could use some help.
Phil

Ok... I found the answer to one of my questions. The default password is "Welcome!". I did find this post....
http://danielpoon.com/working/2007/10/17/how-to-solve-hyperion-drm-startup-problem/
• Check that you have created all the system users in W2K3 using CMD and run lusrmgr.msc. Make sure you have user ‘mdm_db’ and ‘mdm_system’ created with ability to access ‘Administrators’ group privilege. Also it’d be useful to use DRM’s default password ‘Welcome!’ for these accounts. It’s also important to deselect the need to change password on the next login, and make sure check password never expires.
• Go to database settings. Set engine login as ‘mdm_system’ and use the default password ‘Welcome!’. For database login use ‘mdm_db’ and ‘Welcome!’ as the password. Don’t forget to test the database connection.
I've created the mdm_db and mdm_system users with the Administators group privilege but I am still receiving the same error.
I have successfully connected to the database though.

I was running Yosemite on my 15" rMBP for a while until yesterday when I got my laptop setup by my school. They "image" the laptops and essentially install all the software we need for school onto them – suddenly I have started to experience lots of issues running Yosemite:
The fan is always on really high
The laptop gets really hot
When I go to shutdown or restart it always takes a long time before it actually turns off now – it was almost instant before
I looked at the Activity Monitor and its been showing "coreservicesd" and "kernel_task" as something that is using a high amount of CPU Time
I've attached a copy of a EtreCheck report to this for more information:

New install issue-unable to connect to DB server from a remote client.
Hi experts,
I am new to setting up oracle server so pls bear with me...
I setup a db server (11g on top of 64bit Oracle Linux) at home (static 192.168.1.90). I verified that db, listener are up and running. However, I tried to connect to the server from a different client machine (192.168.1.108) within my home network but the server cannot be reached. I was able to ping both client and server using the IP addresses and hostnames. I followed the following steps to perform troubleshooting but was unable to move on beyond step 3, telnet-ing the server on port 1521. Can someone help me out what I should do make the port # (1521) is reachable by the client?
1. Check with "ping" using the IP address ("ping 198.11.34.43"
2. Check with "ping" using DNS name (e.g. "tnsping uranus")
3. Try telnet to the IP on port 1521 (telnet 1.2.3.4 1521)
4. Check with "tnsping" using TNS service name
5. Invoke SQL*Plus from the OS command line "sqlplus fred@flintstone". If this fails, check to ensure that your listener is the flintstone service defined.
6. Sign-on to SQL*Plus and connect with the TNS name ("connect fred/flintstome@service_name"
7. Within SQL*Plus, try a select from table@remote_db_link
thanks a lot in advance.user6391746 wrote:

Is COPY & PASTE broken for you?
It is really, Really, REALLY difficult to fix a problem that can not be seen.
use COPY & PASTE so we can see what you do & how Oracle responds. -
New install issues on k8n Neo2
Hey all, New to these forums, but not to computers and building them. I have a couple questions for you before I RMA this k8n neo2. I have had no issues using the Asus board that I have, so I know that none of my hardware is bad.
I am running the 1.2 bios now, but it even did it with the original bios that cam eon the board.
1. None of my PCI slots work... not a one. I cannot get my Hercules sound card or even a simple lan card to work... any ideas?
2. While running tests for a review, so far, both 3dm 2003 AND UT 2003 demos, pause for just a second in various parts of the tests. I have never had this happen before.
I am at a loss to figure this out, and could use some help if anyone has some ideas.Quote

Full spec including PSU amps on the 12V rail.
Point 1 i have heard mentioned before but dont know of any fixes - I haven't tried my PCI slots yet, maybe I should :/ does ps2/usb work for you?
Point 2 what gfx card have you got, turn AGP fastwrites off in your bios, if your overclocking the gfx card clock the 2d and 3d to the same value.
Try updating the Nf3 drivers whilst your at it... -
Is there a Hyperion DRM version for Linux?
Hi All,
I would like to know if exists a version of Hyperion DRM for Linux.
Another question is if the Hyperion DRM version for Windows could be installed in a Virtual Machine.
Regards,
HarveyNo there is not a version for Linux. The middle tier has to run W2K3. The database layer can be in Unix etc.
Yes I tried running DRM on VMWare works great. Not sure about other virtual software.

Intermittent crashes on new install
Hi,
I am seeing intermittent crashes on a new install of Arch.
I see different messages on crash, quite often
INFO: rcu_preempt_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks:
also
BUG: Bad page map in process bash
and other processes.
sometimes:
CPU: 1 PID: 1 Comm: shutdown tainted
I am vague here in the specific messages because it's not always the same and partly because I usually lose the logs due to hard restarting the machine.
I realize that the information here is somewhat lacking so I don't expect a magic answer to solve the problem. I am looking for advice on where to go from here to try and get it fixed.
The system seems normal most of the time then crashes without warning. When it does happen it will almost certainly get stuck at what seems to be the very last stage of shutdown (that is if it allowed me to use the shell). It might or might not go wrong after reboot then.
I've done 2 cycles of test using memtest, both passing.
Any advice? Could a faulty hard drive possible be the cause?TheSaint wrote:How much big is your RAM and swap ?
Perhaps you may add one more swap file, for testing purposes.
I suspect the most problem starts within swapping. You may look at this for references.
I've 4GB RAM and another 4GB swap partition.
I've tried using swapfile instead of the partition already to no avail.
I've also played with the swap performance settings, again, to no avail.
I've some more information to add now:
I left the system on last night and using it normally to see whether the hard drive replacement actually fixed the crashes (assuming the swap issues were separate). After 24 hours and some fair use, I was optimistic that the drive was in fact at fault. I then made some changes to a smb.conf file and restarted using:
sudo systemctl restart smbd.service
The systemd returned with an error saying smbd failed to start. I checked the logs and smbd reported a segfault. I try again several times, leave it a few minutes and try again (having reverted to the last working smb.conf), segfault still occurs. I then checked "free -m" and noticed that the memory is mostly unused but the entire RAM is used for cache (which I guess is normal anyway). I then cleared the cache:
echo 3 | tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
and immediately I was able to restart smbd.
A few hours go by and I do some rsync'ing to a CIFS mounted share. Partway through I get the following:

First: It's pointless to first install a full system and then try to overwrite the database with another one.
I would INSTALL the system using the database copy.
This procedure is call "homogeneous system copy" and there's a guide for that available at http://service.sap.com/instguides and also in "Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database".
The error message is coming because the database has not the proper users, you'd need to run the STM tool to adapt the users and the environment. Those steps are all described in detail in the guide.

How to log in to the new installed SAP ABAP instance ?
Dear Experts,
In SAP ERP 2005 installation,
I have done central system installation, Now I need to perform postinstallation steps,
Could you please tell me, how to log in to the new installed SAP ABAP instance and do the post installation?
Regards,
Madhavan KHi,
Check the list of post installation steps:
http://www.saptechies.com/post-installation-steps-for-ecc-60/
From my point of view basic post installation steps are:
- Installing SAP License (from http://service.sap.com/licensekeys)
- Setup TMS (STMS)
- Import profiles (RZ10)
- Client Copy (SCC*)
- Create users (SU01)
However further many steps are required as per your requirements. Cehck the link for more detailed steps.
Regards,
Srikishan -
I installed FF and used it without issue, but on loading it for me next session and every subsequent session it reverts to the state it was as a new install including not retaining any settings for loaded extensions. This is a total pain and is likely to lead me to uninstalling if I cannot find a fix soon. I have uninstalled and re-installed and tried re-set but neither has made any difference.
You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

Hello,
I ran a new install of Team Foundation Server and let it install the built in SharePoint pieces on a single server setup. After the install i'm able to access the
http://teamfoundation:8080/tfs/ address without issue but am unable to create a project. When I attempt to create a project I get the following error:
TF30172: You do not have permission to create a new team project (when checking security i'm a member of the project collection administrators and Team Foundation Administrators)
This led me to look at the sharepoint central administration site where I receive the following error:
Error 503 Service Unavailable
I've gone through and validated the identity is set correctly in IIS for the following services:
SharePoint Central Admin v4
SharePoint15AppPool
The SharePoint Web Services Root is set as LocalService instead of the domain user.
The identity domain user is setup as local administrator on the Team Foundation Server. They are all set to use .net v4.0.30319 with integrated Pipeline mode.
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
EricHi Eric,
Thanks for your post.
Please share your detailed team project creation log here.
In your TFS Admin Console>>Extensions for SharePoint Products tab, ensure SharePoint Web Application shows correctly in the right panel. And go to TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier>>SharePoint Web Applications tab, ensure your SharePoint
web application displays in the right panel, then select your SharePoint web application and click Repair Connection, ensure can repair successfully.
In your IIS Manager, select your SharePoint Central Administration V4 site and click Browser:17012(http) in the right panel, check if your SharePoint Central site can be opened successfully or not. If your SharePoint Central site cannot be accessed, I think
this issue relate to your SharePoint site, you should contact SharePoint experts to resolve this issue first. After you resolved this issue and your SharePoint Central Admin site can be accessed correctly, then try to create your team project(within SharePoint
site) again, if there still has issue when creating team project, please share the detailed error message here, we will try to resolve it.

New install not accessing existing library on D: drive.
My iTunes library is much larger than my entire SSD I use as a boot volume, so of course I keep it on a second internal hard drive labeled D:.
I just had my system corrupted and all backcup images not read by restore discs, so I had to wipe my C: SSD and re-install my Windows 7, 64-bit OEM from scratch. Now, with a new install of iTunes, I can't seem to get it to recognize my existing library on my D: drive. I've pointed it there in preferences both to the iTunes folder and the iTunes Library folder inside it on the drive. I can open any individual item with iTunes separately and add that to my library separately, but no matter what, this thing just seems to ignore my existing content completely. Nothing shows in my library within the program but the few nonsense songs that came with some software somewhere.
I at first thought it was finding my TV shows, but it turns out that was only on the cloud. I don't want to depend on some cloud server for my content I've bought and paid for when I have it stored in redundant hard drives of my own. I need this to access my content on the drive I've selected for it, including my existing content already there.OK, I got the menu bar open and found an article in "help" that said to drag the existing library folder into the iTunes window and that got my stuff into the software, but how can I be sure that new purchases go into the proper folder on my D: drive rather than into some C; drive location. I have a terrabyte D: drive that is already red in Windows Explorer and still has more space left than this SSD I'm using as a C: drive had blank.

Brand new Lenovo computer, Windows 7 Home. New install of Firefox 6.0.1, set as default browser, don't launch when I click done. Icon appears in tray. I click the icon, and a message says "firefox is running but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing process, or reboot". It's not obviously running. I can't find a way to make it quit. Task manager doesn't list it as a current application. Uninstall using the control panel uninstall function and then reinstalling gives the same message. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem and gives the same message. Firefox had been working until I tried to update my bookmarks.
No can do. I can delete the current profile and install Firefox, which should create a new blank profile. The message still says "Firefox is already running." I can place my old profile in the proper folder, and Firefox will still be already running. I can't actually use Firefox, because even though the message says it is running, there is nothing on the screen I can access.
After uninstalling Firefox, deleting the two items left in the Programs folder, and deleting the profile again, it still didn't work. I then got frisky and from the Roaming folder I deleted the Mozilla folder which contains the Firefox folder which contains the now empty Profiles folder. That worked, and a new set of folders with a new blank profile were created. So apparently it was the empty folders that never got deleted that were causing the issue.
Thanks for your suggestion. It got me thinking. -

510-238-2727 ext 2780In addition to checklists provided by Josh; I would suggest you to perform a repository scan of the system to identify whether any objects were not installed properly and there might be a possible corruption. Use the link mentioned below to perform repository scanning.
How to use Repository Diagnostic Tool - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
You can try to repair the install. Also as this is a new install you can directly go for re-installing the software.
PS: Try to re-download the software from the service market place rather than copying the installer from existing one. -
I have a client who wants to 'merge' 2 separate instances into a single instance in 11.5.10. The 2 separate instances are at different application and database levels, but do have commonalities, such as the COA structure. Part of the single instance project requires that the current CoA structure be changed from the current model. My impression and experience has told me this is a new install with a data migration from the 2 instances. Would that be the consensus of this group as well? Would there be any benefit to upgrading the 'newer' instance, creating a new SOB with the new structure, and then migrating data from the 'older' instance into the 'newer'/upgraded instance, which then serves as the single instance. Part of the migrations however, would BOTH require data conversion and mapping from the old COA to the new COA...
Any specefic Reasons why Multi Org can not be used here

IPhoto won't open after new install and restore of back-up
Hi guys
My hard drive just died (for the second time in 6 months!) so I have just gotten the computer back with a new drive. I did a new install of Tiger from my original install CDs, did the download thing to get all the updates, and ran a "restore" from my external drive using iBackup (http://www.grapefruit.ch/iBackup//index.html) to restore all my previous system settings, documents, etc. So far this seems to have worked well, a couple of 3rd party applications didn't re-install - specifically Neo Office and WiFind - but I was able to manually install those and everything seems to be working fine.
Except iPhoto. It won't open. When I click the dock icon it bounces once and does nothing. No little arrow under it or anything. Nothing at all happens when I click the icon in Finder (in the Applications folder). When I searched it in spotlight it told me there was a file called iphoto.crash.log, so I went and had a look at that hoping it would tell me the problem, but I don't understand it. I'm not particularly good at the behind the scenes stuff with computers.
Wondering what I should do now - if someone can perhaps interpret the log file and find the issue if that would help, or if I should uninstall and re-install iPhoto by itself (and if so, how?), or if there is something else that may be causing the issue. I noticed there are a few files relating to it when I search with spotlight but I don't know which of them might be relevant. I could post a screenshot if that is allowed, or post the log file if it would help?
Thanks in advance for any advice or help!

Chloë400 Updates???
Did you Repair Permissions before & after each one?
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions before & after re-install, then reboot again each time.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
