Hyperion DRM SDK 11.1.1 vs. WDK 11.1.2

We're implementing DRM 11.1.2 and will need to do some custom work.
I've downloaded both the WDK and the SDK from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/data-relationship-management/downloads/index.html
The WDK is at version 11.1.2 and the SDK is at 11.1.1. Is the version difference significant? I can't find anything that states whether the SDK (which uses a Java API) will continue to be supported or if Oracle is trying to move everyone to the WDK (which uses Web Services).
Does anyone know why the SDK / Java API is still a version behind?

Have to disagree with previous, 11.1.2 has many bugs apparently, even with the next patch due shortly, have been advised to avoid it for another 6 months. Just went from 9.3.2 to 11.1.12 with only one problem; labels no longer update in exports if you change them. Told they did this to help performance issues.

  • Experience with Hyperion DRM to Coherence exports.  options

    Hi All.
I am working on a project where Hyperion DRM is feeding Oracle Coherence with the slowly changing structures such as GL accounts, budget accounts, costcenters etc.
I am looking to find out if anyone has had experience with this type of project and particularly if anyone has resolved how to feed small changes to a version while keeping coherence online.
    Any feedback would be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi Agnete,
Not sure if you are aware, but there is another forum just for DRM.

  • Hyperion DRM 11.1.1.43 new install issues

    Hi,
I'm totally new to DRM and have just installed the product. I then launched the DRM console and tried to start the server but am seeing this message in the Event Log:
Exception in Data Relationship Management Service: EOleSysError: The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password
Is this referring to the username and password to start the service? If so, I went to Services and verified the process was using a userid withAdministrative authority. Still no luck...
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Also... I have a question regarding the Database Settings Configuration.
During the install I specified to have the oracle schema created and supplied the schema username and password. However on the Database Settings > Connections tab has two logins:
    mdm_system and mdm_db
What are the default passwords for these 2 users? When I try to connect, I'm prompted for a password but always get the message... passwords do not match?
Help? I've read the install guide but could use some help.
    Phil

Ok... I found the answer to one of my questions. The default password is "Welcome!". I did find this post....
    http://danielpoon.com/working/2007/10/17/how-to-solve-hyperion-drm-startup-problem/
    •     Check that you have created all the system users in W2K3 using CMD and run lusrmgr.msc. Make sure you have user ‘mdm_db’ and ‘mdm_system’ created with ability to access ‘Administrators’ group privilege. Also it’d be useful to use DRM’s default password ‘Welcome!’ for these accounts. It’s also important to deselect the need to change password on the next login, and make sure check password never expires.
    •     Go to database settings. Set engine login as ‘mdm_system’ and use the default password ‘Welcome!’. For database login use ‘mdm_db’ and ‘Welcome!’ as the password. Don’t forget to test the database connection.
I've created the mdm_db and mdm_system users with the Administators group privilege but I am still receiving the same error.
I have successfully connected to the database though.

  • Is there a Hyperion DRM version for Linux?

    Hi All,
I would like to know if exists a version of Hyperion DRM for Linux.
Another question is if the Hyperion DRM version for Windows could be installed in a Virtual Machine.
    Regards,
    Harvey

No there is not a version for Linux. The middle tier has to run W2K3. The database layer can be in Unix etc.
Yes I tried running DRM on VMWare works great. Not sure about other virtual software.

  • Hyperion DRM vs EPMA

    Hi,
I have not worked on either DRM or EPMA. The requirement is, we need to have a single point to manage metadata for our different Hyperion cubes.
We are thinking of implementing EPMA but not successful with deploying ASO applications using EPMA.
How useful is DRM with respect to above said requirement. Can you all EPM Gurus explain in brief?
And what are pros and cons of DRM vs EPMA?
    Hyperion version: 11.1.2.1

DRM is an enterprise data manager that allows for meta data management against ERPs, DW, and Hyperion applicaitons as well as other sources. EPMA is specifically built into the Hyperion platform for managing Dimensions for Essbase, Planning, and HFM, possible HPCM, but not sure. EPMA is a direct deployment and does communicate directly with the applicaitions where as DRM has to drop a file and than the Hyperion apps have to take it in via its native automation process. DRM can provide source files to EPMA if you so desire, but it does not directly communicate with EPMA. DRM is EPMA on steroids, EPMA is just for Hyperion apps you can deploy on the EPM platform.

  • Hyperion DRM Logs off Automatically

After a short period of time while working in Oracle Hyperion Data Relationship Management (DRM) the message below appears: 'For Security purposes, browser session left open without user activity for a certain period of time are automatically expired' Please some one help.

To identify and correct the incorrectly assigned Application Pool in IIS 7:
    1.     Ensure no user are currently running any web applications on the DRM server
    2.     Run INETMGR
    3.     In the left hand panel expand [machine name] > Default Web site
    4.     Select DRM-Web-Client
    5.     In the right hand pane choose "Basic Settings"
    6.     Identify the Application pool field. If it displays DefaultAppPool, select drm_pool in the drop-down menu
    7.     Press OK, OK and close INETMGR
    8.     Recycle IIS by executing "IISRESET"
Test DRM and ensure that the user session no longer times out prior to the expected Session Time. The default is 60 minutes of inactivity.

    Hi Michael,
Since this is a pretty old thread, I guess you would have been able to resolve the issue. Can you post your findings? Integrating from EBS to DRM requires that the DRM Web services API is configured and running. This could have been the issue in your case.

  • DRM WDK - WebService Authentication error

    Oracle DRM 11.1.2.3.500
    Hi All,
Using the Oracle DRM Workflow Development Kit within an ADF application. The WDK code has a WS Proxy and uses this security policy:
    oracle/wss11_saml_token_with_message_protection_client_policy
The SessionState class has this method to get the user context:
    DrmConnectInfo drmConnectInfo =
                    new DrmConnectInfo(BaseAppConfig.drmApiAdapterUrl, BaseAppConfig.drmSessionParams,
                                       getInitParam("DrmWSUserName"), getInitParam("DrmWSPassword"));
                _userContext = new UserContext(getInitParam("DrmWSUserName"), drmConnectInfo);
Trying to call the WS is giving this error:
<Error> <oracle.wsm.resources.security> <WSM-00279> <The following Fault Message is received at the client side from the service:-
FailedAuthentication : The security token cannot be authenticated..
The logs show that the Credentials being passed belong to the current user:
    subject.precedence=true, oracle.integration.platform.common.subject=Subject:
    Principal: jcooper
    Principal: authenticated-role
    Principal: anonymous-role
In DRM there's no jcooper, we have added a specific user for this purpose (DrmWSUserName).
How can I force the WS proxy to use DrmWSUserName & DrmWSPassword instead of the current user credentials? Thanks!

    Hi there,
What version of DRM? What version of the WDK?
    Thank you,
    Todd Rebner

  • Oracle DRM 11.1.2 ( WEB Version)

    Hi Guys,
There is urgent requirement in my project of Oracle hyperion DRM 11.1.2(web version) knowledge. I have experienced in Hyperion MDM 9 and Hyperion DRM 11 version, but i am not familiar with Oracle Hyperion DRM 11 (web version).
So, i need a favour, can anyone tell me how to sync DRM 11(web version) with MDM 9 version environment. And what are the complexity we faced while working in Oracle DRM 11.1.2(web version) than the MDM ( 9 and 11 version).
    Thanks.

This is a much simpler process than it used to be. There's quite a bit more to cover than I can do justice in a casual response, but as far as critical path items to bring up your new environment:
The latest version of the installer will allow you to point to a v11.1.1.2 database and will 'upgrade' this into your target database. If there are any interfaces or other important processes using the DRM API or WDK these will require some reengineering effort. You'll also want to revisit your import and export process to leverage external connections before running a full regression test suite.

  • DRM Import, Action Script

    Hi All,
I am new to Hyperion DRM 11.1.2, I am confused about concepts such as metadata and data still not able to understand difference between them. What I understand is all Versions hold is set of independent hierarchies which have nodes and their property values, which is nothing but metadata.
Please help me understand difference between data and metadata?
There are different task groups like Import, Action script and Migration Utility all the these are essentially used for importing metadata and data in the DRM Application.
Migration Utility - Provides the ability to bulk load metadata and security objects in DRM applications. Other operations which can be performed in migration utility are extract and difference.
Import- It provides a way to import data in DRM Applications, but it creates new version after import
Action Script - Used to process a bulk set of changes in an automated fashion.
Can anyone help me understand best case scenario for when to use which utility to import metadata and data?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Aniket

Migration Utility: When you are trying to Export/Import Properties, Validations, Export Definitions, Import Definitions etc to an XML or from another server.
Import: This function Imports a whole new Version once you have the load file in a specific Import format that you define.
Blendor: The Version you imported Can be blended with the Actual current existing version
Action Script: This is used when updating the current Hierarchies. Like Adding nodes, updating Properties etc.

  • Need the steps,Impacts for migrating DRM from version 9.3.2.0.0 to 9.3.3.0

    Hi All,
Any body can guide me or provide me the steps for migrating Hyperion DRM from version 9.3.2.0.0 to 9.3.3.0.0. Also i need the Impacts on the current setup or data.
Also let us know any change in table structure between these two versions.
Please help me on this issue on priority

    Hi Sathiya,
Please go through the maintenance release doc for 9.3.3.X, this has steps to help you upgrade if the DRM schemas are already existing from 9.3.2.X
    Hope this helps you out.

  • Oracle Database Character set and DRM

    Hi,
I see the below context in the Hyperion EPM Installation document.
We need to install only Hyperion DRM and not the entire Hyperion product suite, Do we really have to create the database in one of the uft-8 character set?
Why it is saying that we must create the database this way?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Oracle Database Creation Considerations:
The database must be created using Unicode Transformation Format UTF-8 encoding
(character set). Oracle supports the following character sets with UTF-8 encoding:
    l AL32UTF8 (UTF-8 encoding for ASCII platforms)
    l UTF8 (backward-compatible encoding for Oracle)
l UTFE (UTF-8 encoding for EBCDIC platforms)
Note: The UTF-8 character set must be applied to the client and to the Oracle database.

    Srini,
    Thanks for your reply.
I would assume that the ConvertToClob function would understand the byte order mark for UTF-8 in the blob and not include any parts of it in the clob. The byte order mark for UTF-8 consists of the byte sequence EF BB BF. The last byte BF corresponds to the upside down question mark '¿' in ISO-8859-1. Too me, it seems as if ConvertToClob is not converting correctly.
    Am I missing something?
BTW, the database version is 10.2.0.3 on Solaris 10 x86_64
    Kind Regards,

  • How to make use of VM with Hyperion

    Hi All,
I am trying to install Hyperion DRM. I was told that we may use Virtual machine (VM), for the working on DRM. Please let me, How to do it?
    Thanks
    Anmol

A VM is like any other server, it just sits on another OS as an "application" within a larger "host" environment.
What that means: you would typically use remote console access to address the VM rather than the host, install the software on the VM rather than the host, etc...
There would be no other special needs apart from any infrastructure requirements themselves. For all intents and purposes, the host doesn't matter at all (and the VM itself can be run on any supported host, making it more flexible -- but all of this is transparent to the process).
You're IT department should have all the pertinent details, of course, but there is nothing on the installation/configuration side of things that needs to know that you are using a VM.
