Hyperion EPMA Server service issue

Hi,
I have an issue with starting up the hyperion EPMA Server service on my local machine. I am using 11.1.2.1 and SQL db. Though I start them in the right order, this particular service is not starting..

I hope the op followed my advice which they said they did and went to the link I provided and followed the prerequisites which are under preparing a database, it has the information about the SQL server settings that are required.
"When creating a Microsoft SQL Server database for use as a repository, ensure that you set these options:
Set READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT = ON
Set ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION = ON
Select the SQL Server and Windows authentication option when you set the security properties for the database.
All products support Latin Collation for the SQL Server database. Use this statement: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, However, if you are using Oracle SOA Suite (required as part of a Financial Close Management deployment), then Oracle recommends that the Financial Close Management database be kept separate and set it to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS."

Hi All,
I'm unable to open dimension library,calc manager because EPMA server service is not starting.When trying to start the service EPMA Administration Server Service I'm getting the following error-"The Hyperion EPMA Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped.Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs"
And while opening the Dimension library in EPMA I'm getting the following error-"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:5251

Hi,
When you try to start the service, you will get this error.
So, please look into the Windows Event viewer for the Error meassage.
You can look into the DimensionServer.log and DimensionServer-err.log file for the error msg which vivek suggested you.
path for error logs: C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\epma

EPMA server service not started

Hi All,
I installed Hyperion 11.1.2.2 Essbase, Planning, EPMA, Calculation Manager, FDM and HFM in the single machine in windows server 2008 R2.
but i am facing two issues.
1. In services, EPMA Server service not started.
2. In FDM, I am getting error in connecting to Essbase.
Error: Unable to retrieve target system data.
Is any thing, i have to install additionally?

Oracle hyperion epma server not starting in hyperion 11.1.2.4

I have installed Hyperion 11.1.2.4 on windows 2008. All the services are running fine except Oracle hyperion epma server. I have tried reinstalling/reconfiguring but nothing is working.When I start the service, I get the message - The Oracle EPMA Server service on local computer started and stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. I have also checked the windows event log but it didn't give me any clue.
Any suggestions.

It says it couldnt reach the database. But my database is fine. The shared services is running fine.

EPMA Server service cann't started

Hi,
EPMA Server service cannot started on Win Server 2008 64bit. I configued EPM 11.1.2.2 via SQL Server 2008 R2.
I copied logs on windows event logs.
Have anybody any suggesstion?

i was find the out one of the solution for this issue......
1.we need to do place the ip address of the local system in the host file and then we need to start the service.
or
2.need plug off the internet connection if it is your local system then restart the services.

EPMA server service

Hi,
I have installed EPMA 11.1.2.1, all services started well except for EPMA server. The relational database being SQL server 2008. I was going through the epm_install_start_here & it looks like I forgot to set these properties on the sql database:
Set READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT = ON
Set ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION = ON
I am planning to set these properties on the relational DB & redeploy the epma & configure the web server again. My all other components (SS, Planning etc) are configured against the same database. Would there be a need to deploy all the components again or should I delete the database start the fresh deploy for all the components ?
More importantly is there any other property that I need to enable apart from the above ?

I would just try to execute the commands against the EPMA database and try restarting the EPMA service.

Till yesterday all the services are running fine but suddenly we are facing below error; other services are starting but EPMA service is not starting and throwing error.

Hyperion.CommonServices.Exceptions.DataAccessLayerException: To run the Dimension Server, both ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION and READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT database settings must be set to 'ON'. Their values are currently 'OFF' and 'OFF' respectively.

Hello Mady,
We are using EPMA applications and Classic applications; unfortunately we haven't taken any backup's of these applications.
I heard from some one that by performing EPMA re-configuration there is a chance of loosing the applications. Only Classic applications can be restored.
Please let me know if my understanding is wrong and kindly suggest the next steps to restore the applications.
Currently we are able to login only to Shared Services only; we can login to Workspace/planning but unable to access the applications.

if the hyperion server goes down we usually do stop and start services by running some shell script, but we still dont what could be the reason ,why the hyperion server goes down.

You can check the following documents on Oracle support and see if that helps. Seems like the issue is with incompatible version of Provider from the exception --

EPMA Server 11.1.2.2 not starting

I've installed a EPM 11.1.2.2 environment in Windows 2008 Server with Oracle Database 11.2.0.1. The install and configuration was smoothly, but when I start the services the EPMA Server services does no start and I've seen this outut in the Event Viewer :

Hyperion EPM server - web application service does not start

Hi All,
I installed and configured epm 11.1.2.2 on windows 2008 server. I was able to start all the services except "Hyperion EPM server - web application" everytim I start the service I am getting an error "some services start and stop as they are not used by any other programs and applications'.
I reconfigured the web server and deployed the application server again but still I am having the same issue.
I was not able to see planning from the navigate of workspace and I am getting errors while trying to start the web analysis.
Can anyone please let me know where I am doing wrong..

we deployed workspace, financial reporting, web analysis, shared services, planning web applications. we were able to access most of them except "web analysis".
we are getting an error while trying to login Web analysis "when starting web anaysis an error occured while initalizing startup options".
I have HP BL480 32 gb of RAM.
I am not getting any error while configuring but I am getting the error when trying toi start the service.

Hyperion Shared Services issue

Hi All,
We use Hyperion Planning 9.3.0.1. The servers were restarted yesterday and the services were started manually in the correct sequence. But I am having issues with MSAD users not been able to logon.
When I looked at the Shared Services I tried searching for user/groups in the MSAD directory but it says communication error. I understand that it could be a change in the MSAD configuration that might have broken the link, however when I look at the log file I find the following entries:

Those error messages usually happen when Shared Services has just started up and before the other services have started, it sends out a ping to see if it gets a response from the other application servers, the pings will fail until the other services have started, once they have started them messages should disappear.
I would check that if any changes have happened to your MSAD or the account that shared services uses.

Hyperion EPMA 11.1.1.3 Services Sequence

Hi all,
I want to know the sequence of starting the services in Hyperion epma 11.1.1.3.Also let me know what is the frquency is that we need to recycle the services .Is ther any best practice avalable from oracle.Kindly help me .

you can run bat file
with net start " service name"
and stop >>net stop "Service name"

start you database
shared servies
Essbase server
Essbase clints one by one

Hi all,
I have installed the Hyperion and configured it properly. I have change the start up type of all the services to manual now i want to know the sequence of starting the services in Hyperion epma 11.1.2 .
I know the sequence in 11.1.1.3 but there are some difference in the services from the previous version.
so please help me.
