Yes, it stands to reason that they wouldn't be available via download, but the Oracle reps should be able to come up with one -- that was my point actually -- the need for these things can be justified for all sorts of reasons, so they need to be able to locate one and provide it as a supported function whether it's directly accessible or not.

How you import essbase users list into Hyperion reports?

I don't think this is a standard feature of Hyperion Reports.
Why do you need to see all the users in a report. Administrators can always query EAS, Shared Services or MaxL.

I need to import metadata from essbase cube into OBIEE 11.1.1.6 from Essbase 11.1.2.2 remote server ,
I got suggestions that I should have installed hyperion essbase 11.1.2.2 client , so can anyone guide me how to install essbase client 11.1.2.2.
I did the same with OBIEE 11.1.13 and 11.1.1.5 with Hyperion essbase 11.1.2 and easily made its access. but with these new realease everything is got changed.

Unable to Obtain a Connection to Hyperion Essbase from Planning Application

Dear All,
I have installed FDM+Foundation+HFM+Essbase+Planning 11.1.1.3 (Tomcat)
I have stacked with the following problem:
when I try to open my data form, I am getting
“Unable to obtain a connection to Hyperion Essbase. If this problem persists, please contact your administrator”
Validate Database Connection & Validate Essbase Connection are successful throw Manage Data Source menu
Essbase user has admin privileges
In EAS console I can make myself sure, that my application is running
Data Form is valid (verified in Preview screen in Data Form wizard)
Can somebody help me with it?

Summary
Symptoms
When attempting to connect to Hyperion Planning as the admin user, the following error occurs:
Unable to obtain a connection to Hyperion Essbase. If the problem persists, please contact your administrator'
Cause
Hyperion Planning web accesses the application by making a connection to the Planning metadata in the relational repository (via Relational repository settings) and also to Essbase via the datasource settings.
Any Essbase connection issues indicate problems with the Essbase settings in the datasource or are related to the Essbase server.
Solution
- Edit the datasource via the Configuration Utility.
- Test the Essbase connection and make sure that the user used to make the connection is valid and has admin rights to Essbase.
- Restart the Hyperion Planning service once the Essbase user has been given the correct access rights.
- Login to the Essbase Administration Services (EAS) console and right click on the Essbase server name node -> Refresh security from Shared Services
- Expand the applications node (under the Essbase server name node) and check that there is an application with exactly the same name as the Planning application.
Note: Go to section 'manually recreating a Planning application in Hyperion Essbase, if the Planning application is missing in the above step.
- Login to the application in Hyperion Planning web.
Manually recreating a Planning application in Essbase:
- Login to the EAS console as admin (the Essbase user used by admin must have Essbase administrator rights)
- Go to Essbase servers -> your Essbase server name -> right click on applications -> Create application -> Using Block Storage and enter the exact Hyperion Planning Application name then click on ok.
Note: The above step will only create the application shell without the databases.
- Login to the application in Hyperion Planning web as admin and go to Administration menu -> Manage Database -> select database and filters (to create filter access to Essbase) and Refresh (refresh will also recreate the databases if they don't exist)

Need urgent help on issue "An unknown CSS error occured" Hyperion Essbase

Hi guys
I am facing an issue while configuring Essbase 9.3.1. Everytime i tried to register Essbase(Server1) with Shared Services(Server2), i.e at the point where we enter Shared Services server, port, username, and password i am getting the following error.
"An unknown CSS error occured. please check the values you entered". I verified and gave all the values exactly. but same error....
please help me with your suggestions in resolving this issue.

Hyperion Essbase on 64-bit and Other application are on 32-bit

Hi
I am going to Install Hyperion Essbase on AIX (Version: 6.1) on 64-bit and Other Hyperion application like EAS,EIS, calc manager, Foundation services, Financial report and planning on windows 2008 SP2 with 32-Bit.
I future any connectivity issue will occur with two different bit type or there will no issue.
Please guide me here, above combination is fine or not.

Hyperion Wired for OLAP v.4.1.2 compatiblity with Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server v.6.5.4

Dear all,Our existing version of Hyperion products are as follows:1) Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server version 5.0.1 Patch 7 under SunOS 5.6 on Solaris Server2) Hyperion Wired for OLAP version 4.1.2 under Microsoft Win2000 Server on Intel machine.And we are going to upgrade Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server from 5.0.1 Patch 7 to 6.5.4 under SunOS 5.8 to get Windows XP support on Essbase client in client users' PC.Besides, we also intend to upgrade Hyperion Wired for OLAP v.4.1.2 to Hyperion Analyzer v.6.5. However, as client users' PC configuation don't meet the requirements for Hyperion Analyzer 6.5, we may need to postpone the Hyperion Analyzer 6.5 upgrade.Here, I have a question that can Hyperion Wired for OLAP v.4.1.2 can access Hyperion Essbase 6.5.4 OLAP applications.Finally, I also have a question that since Hyperion Analyzer 6.X, repository in Paradox format has been faded out, RDBMS for repository has been introduced since then. I do not think wired will even work with the 6.x runtimes. Your only real option is to put off the move untill you can manage the a6.5 upgrade.

Thank you for your reply..sorry for the incomplete information..This is windows XP OS .
Yes after running the installtool.bat , i am not getting any screen.
What I did was ..after downloading the software, i manually copied all the folders that are available in assemblies folder(essbase , planning , foundation dowloads etc) in to systeminstaller -> assemblies folder and I hit the installtool. As you said now I will unzip all the zip and I will keep it in one home directory and I will try...Please correct me If I am wrong...

Optimizing Hyperion Essbase on AIX

Hello all! We have just changed the production server for our databases. After this migration, our system administrator noticed that the essbase server process ESSSVR, when running calculations is taking system time in system mode, not in user mode. He recommended that the solution would be to cluster the application on HACMP/IBM. Has anyone any idea how that can be done ? We are using Hyperion Essbase 6.5.4.2 on AIX 5.2. Thanks a lot, Chris

Changing RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase

Hello All,
We have installed and configured 11.1.2.2.100(Essbase, EIS, Studio, Shared Services) on Windows 2008 32-bit Server successfully.
Everything went fine and all products are working.
Now we changed the RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase and ran the configuration once again with new RDBMS server with "Reuse existing tables" option.

From that time we are unable to access the essbase server.
We were able to see the users in Shared Services. All users able to login to Shared Services, EAS but problem with Essbase.
In HSS_Component table found old server name in two places, we have updated the old DB server name to Current DB server name.
When we try accessing essbase we are getting the below error(tried with hostname, ip address, EssbaseCluster1 as Essbase server)
Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [Server Name:1423]
Error: 103: Unexpected Essbase error 1030818
Error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [[ServerName]:1423]
Error: 1030818: Login failed. Please check if server and port are correct. If you received timeout or handshake failure,
please check if you tried to connect to secure port without secure keyword or clear port with secure keyword.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

It is extremely important that you know what you are doing before touching the shared services registry and the correct way is not to update tables, it is to use the epmsys_registry utility.
To be honest you may have screwed up the registry and that is something I am not going to get involved in, try discussing with Oracle what you have just done.
If it is only the rdbms servername changing (not the essbase server) then you should follow the instructions in the documentation - Changing the Shared Services and Registry Database Connection Information and Password

Is Hyperion Essbase is working with ODI 11g under different Domain Range?

Hi All,
I installed ODI 11.1.1.3 with IP(172.x.8.21) and Hyperion Essbase (172.x.0.36). With different domain Range ODI(172.x.*8*.21) and Essbase(172.x.*0*.21) so will it work under different IP Domain ranges from 8 to 0?
Cause i was trying to develop Physical Data server for Essbase and i was not able to view Application Schema and other object in drop down list like: Catalog, Database Scheam etc.
Evening i am providing Correct Domain name, port and user name & passowrd. even i tried with providing direct IP address.
Server Details :
1- Hyperion Essbase server Name: Essbaseserver
2- Port: 1423
3- admin
4- xxxxxx
as u know guys Test Connection button is not working for Essbase its only works for RDBMS in ODI.

Yes it works though the dropdown will not be automatically populated and you can't click the test button as that is mainly for technologies that use JDBC, you will need to manually enter the app/db

Hi All,
Is there any document out there that has the best practices for Hyperion Essbase development? I am looking for methodologies, naming conventions and such information. Wondering if there is any such doc with Hyperion Essbase Guru's that outlines the best approaches for Essbase-outline development with it . Searching this forum with the string "best practice" yields a lot of threads on specific issues, but couldn't find any document.
Any pointer is most appreciated.

Various consulting organizations have different
guidelines, each with their own strengths and
weaknesses. To get them to cough it up without
bringing them in for a paid project might be
difficult, but not impossible.I agree with Doug here.. Many of these consulting companies have developed their best practices over a number of years and view them as a competitive advantage over the other consulting firms. I would be highly surprised if you managed to get ahold of such a document very easily.
That being said, those same consultants share information here in bits and pieces, so you can learn at least some of the best practices here (along with best practice tips from consultants/developers/customers who don't have an 'official' best practices guide)..
