Hyperion Planning Configuration using mutiple databases on SQL

Hi,
I am in the process of configuring after successfully installing the planning and related products on the server.
Can u all please guide me thru the process of configuring the products one by one thru db. Also, once the planning is configured do i need to again configure the workspace.

The documentation provides enough clarity for this configurations.
Specifically, for Planning, you need 2 databases: --
1. Planning system database [It is configured in the start]
2. All planning application need a separate database of their own.

Hi All,
When I try to load data into planning using odi, the odi process completes successfully with the following status in the operator ReportStatistics as shown below but the data doesn't seem to appear in the planning data form or essbase

Do any members exist in the account dimension before the load? if not can you try adding one member manually then trying the load again.

Can we change the Provider Name at runtime of the given report. If so the above question is useless...

I tried this using Oracle Provider for OLEDB (the one that supplied by Oracle Client) and Crystal Reports 9. you can drag the column into designer but the image does not appear in preview.
I guess it's because CR does not recognized it as image, and there are no information that the blob data is an image at all.

How to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI

Hi All,
Anyone know how to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI? And how to update account type on Hyperion Planning Using ODI?
e.g.:
I have a member with account type Saved Assumption, and I need to change to Revenue, but it cannot change. But if I change to Expense, it can. So what's wrong with the mapping?
This is my csv file for update a member on Hyperion Planning.

Hi,
To delete a member you use the Operation column, the following values can be used.
Update – This is the default and is used if not populated, it Add, updates, moves the member being loaded.
Delete Level 0 - Deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
Delete Idescendants –Deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants.
Delete Descendants –Deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself.
Does the member you trying to change to Revenue have a variance reporting set to "Expense" as it will need to be set to "Non Expense"
Also in your interface you can add logging options in the IKM, this maybe will give a clearer indication where your problem lies.

Create and Populate a Hyperion Planning Cube using Hyperion Data Integratio

Friends,
I am new to Essbase and have worked extensively in Informatica. Hyperion DIM (OEM version of Informatica) is chosen to create and populate a Hyperion Planning System (with Essbase cube in the backend).
I am using Hyperion DIM 9.3.
Can someone let me know (or share a document) how I can do the following
1) Create a Planning application with a Essbase Cube in the backend using Hyperion Data Integration Management
2) How to populate the Essbase outline and the actuals Essbase cube with data using DIM.

You cannot create planning applications using DIM.
To load metadata have a look at :- http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hyp_fp/DIM_Planning/OBE_Dim_Planning.html
You can refresh planning database in DIM by
To enable the Refresh Database property for a session:
In Workflow Manager, right-click the session and select Edit.
Click the Mapping tab.
Select a Planning target.
Check the Refresh Database box.

How can i configure an odbc using a database from sql to my excel

I have an excel sheet in wich i'm working, but i need to import data from a database used SQL, but i need the ODBC connection,... I try to used the administrator ODBC, but it has no driver for me to connect it to the SQL database, ... who knows wich tool can i use?

As far as I know -you still can't do that with the mail app on a device. You can select each contact by tapping the blue + sign to open the contacts app and you have to add them one at a time.
These are third party apps that will let you do this - Group Email ... And there are others in the app store.

Hyperion Planning Configuration ...

I am facing a problem while registering planning in the Configuration Utility...Could anyone help me on this ??
Can we use the same database schema whenever we are dealing with any product configurations in the configuration utility ?

Check your config.log file for errors if you are having problems configuring.

Error on creating Services in Hyperion planning configuration

Hello Sir,
Here I started Hyperion installation on Multiple Systems
1. fndserver I installed essbase, planning components, and I configured only foundation here, and eas installed and its working
Web logic is application server 7001 port
2. essserver here essbase server is configured and it is working fine.
3. planserver here I installed only planning components and in foundation I selected OHS also and I start configuration while deploying application server details I gave fndserver, port number 7001 , same user name and password while configuration deploying application server error like
HyS9Planning: Couldn't create service
fndserver: windows 2008 server r2 in vmware1
essserver: windows 2008 server r2 in vmware2
planserver: windows 2008 server r2 in vmware3
here fnd, ess server host is windows 7 and planserver is Ubuntu host, but 3 systems is pinging and 0% lost.
please give me the solution.

When you configure Planning on Ubuntu, you have to disable the option "*Create Windows Services for configured components*".

Hyperion Planning Data Source Configuration Error

Hi,
I'm trying to configure Planning. I'm at the last step of the configuration utility, and trying to configure "Data Source Configuration" for Planning.
When I try to do it, I Create the Datasource, I give the Datasource name, and I select the database (which Oracle), and it throws me the error at the step Relational Storage Configuration Details:
com.hyperion.planning.HspDSRdbPanelManager, ERROR, Relational Database Connection Failed:= :[Hyperion][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-12505 Connection refused, the specified SID (******) was not recognized by the Oracle server.
I'm sure that I'm entering the correct database details. But still not able to understan why it is not accepting it.
I'm picking up the SID from the TNSNAMES.ora correctly. I'm able to login to the Db via sqlplus with the same username,pwd and SID. Also able to connect to the Db via TOAD using the same credentials.
But not able to configure the Planning!!!

Which version of planning are you referring to, what OS has it been installed on.
Does your tnsnames ora have different names in the configuration

Is the net_service_name the same as the service_name, if they are different have you tried both of them?

Planning "Configure Product Option" using configuration utility

Hi All,
I have installed HSS on server1 and Planning, Oracle DB in server 2.
Done the HSS configuration and i can able to log into HSS successfully. When i tried to configure my planning,
1. Open the EMP system configurator from planning server
2. Select Hyperion Foundation ( Configure DB, Common database). Here by default "Previousely configure the DB" was secected and configuration was success.
3. Next select planning "Configure Product Option" was not success.
Register with shared service was failed.

Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 "Configure Data Sources" freezes at Essbase conf

Hi!
I am setting up a demo environment of Hyperion Planning for one of our customers (my first time installing this application). The platform is Windows Vista Business 32-bit. RDBMS is Oracle 10g on another machine. I've successfully installed Hyperion 9.3.1 Shared Services, Essbase, Essbase Admin Services and Planning application.
I've successfully configured all the applications (with the Configuration Utility) besides Hyperion Planning. I can access Workspace, User Management Console, Essbase Administration Services (and connect to my localhost Essbase server from there), etc - thus I believe that the installations and configuration of these modules is successful.
When I try to finish my Hyperion Planning configuration with the utility, the last step is to "Configure Data Sources" (previous configuration steps including "Product Instance Registration" were successful).
I start the configuration utility, select the properties, enter the Oracle db connection properties (no error there), then enter the Essbase connection properties (the same which enable me to add this server in the Essbase Administration Services, view and start applications, etc) and the installer just freezes.. hangs indefinitely..
Server: localhost
uid and password are the ones I provided during essbase installation/configuration
I've tried this configuration step multiple times, I've restarted the machine. The maximum time I've waited is ~30min.
Questions:
# Is it normal for the Essbase configuration page to freeze after clicking "Next" for 30min (maybe I'm just impatient, I'm new to Hyperion)
# What could be wrong?
# How could I see the error message - is there an error log somewhere?

Hyperion Planning connection failure - No Applications are Available

Hi,
I am facing an issue and hoping to obtain some help from you gurus. I installed Hyperion Planning and Oracle db in the VM. Sample app installed. Everything worked fine. For some reasons, I need to change the ip address of the VM. THEN, when I connect to Hyperion Planning again using IE, it shows No applications are available on the logon page. I have already changed the settings in Tomcat's xml files to reflect the new ip. The exception thrown is as followed. The ip address: 172.16.36.133 is old, and I can't find anywhere to change it. Can someone please help?

If you have installed on tomcat have a look at :- \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\WEB-INF\classes\PlanningSystemDB.properties
Look for the line :- SYSTEM_DB_URL=
Does it contain a machine name or ip address.
If it is an ip address and you entered a machine name when you configured then there is something wrong with the network on your VM

Not sure if i should use a database for my application?

Not sure if i should post here or not..
But my problem is that initially i planned to use a database to map my application logic so that it can keep information after the app shuts down and i would get it back the next session i open my app. My application is shared across netwrok therefore i thought it would make sense to use a database. I know i can use Serialization to keep state but that only does it for current location hence i opt to use a database.
But now thinking back i'm not pretty sure afterall if i just have my app updating the database for no other use apart from using it to keep state from my app across network.
So - do current software application out there use a database as a datasource alot? If so how are they using it?

But saying this again: all my use of database is just mapping the application logic (model). So essentially it use is just like a backup.
After reading that link you gave me: does that mean it is very common that most software system out there uses any database of some sort to store any information as small as smallest peice of information you get?

I defined only one RKM for Hyperion Planning. There is a IKM SQL to Hyperion Planning. There are two technologies defined: one for Generic File and another to Hyperion Planning. These steps are defined on the sample manual of ODI - Hyperion Planning.
