Please anyone help me on Planning hardware sizing.
Need Hyperion hardware sizing considering the below
i)     50 Active Planning users and 100 reporting users
ii)     High availability under active – active configuration
iii)     Fail over at all levels

Hi,
Hardware sizing is a specialty and the ultimate decision should not be left to a respond to your message as you might end up burning your hardware investment.
I would highly recommend you to get in touch with an infrastructure specialist. There are people specifically focused in Hyperion hardware sizing also. Alternatively try Oracle, they might provide you with an expert on the topic.
Just keep this in mind that the sizing is never linked to number of users alone. Below points are linked to the decision too:
- Number and size of dimensions
- Sparsity of database
- Amount of data
- Required respond times
- Required calculation times
- and many more.

Hi,
I would like to know in detail about capacity planning and hardware sizing while deploying oracle database products. I need to know about properly planning the infrastructure and configuring and deploying the products. Moreover, when should we use RAC,how many nodes, exadata, DR etc. How to size hardwares RAM,Disk for this kind of implemetations.
I know it depends on budget and environment. Still if anyone kindly give some links/docs I will be able to have a decent start in this domain.

See , they all depend on your company policy and the database size that they are going to have.
1. Size : i have worked on databases sizing from 80G to 2000G , all depending on the client or the industry you are catering to.
2. hardware and Ram : Server Team should know this better , you can have a simple small server if the DB and application are small and the usage would be less. If it a full fledged system with high load then you need to get in touch with your server team and raise an oracle SR for exact specifications for that database and also plan for some future growth.
3. RAC : depends on the project if it requires such a setup.
4. DR : is for disaster management. Also all companies implement this by adopting data guard ( physical standby).
5. For having a good start , start reading the books and refer to oracle documentation. More you refer , more knowledge you will get .
Start with the basics.... make your basics strong.. and then move ahead with complex setups.

if someone can redirect me to formula kind of thing "how to calculate Hardware Requirements WRT increase in number of concurrent sessions".
for example need formula like below.
Minimum Server Requirement: 10 GB lets say for 5 concurrent sessions for 1-2 Applications
for every 5 concurrent user addition, increase Hardware Like processor 1 2.X Ghz , Ram 5GB , HDD 100 GB....

Hardware sizing recommendations for B2B Server

My customer Welch Foods Inc. is on 11i Oracle eBusiness Suite and is planning to uptake the latest 1Sync integration features in the PIM product. For out-of-box AS2 connectivity with 1Sync - they are planning to use Oracle B2B Integration Server 10.1.2.3.
They have an average transaction volume of 30 transactions per month. One time - initial load of 20,000 transactions.
Based on the above estimates, they are looking for hardware sizing recommendations for the B2B server.

Yes, B2B instance will run alone on a box.2. what will be the size of message
Messages can be anywhere from 5-20 KB3. how many messages will be part of a transaction.
It should be 2 - Registration and publication. But sometimes it depends on how successful the first “registration” goes. Typically we get one or two errors that the users go into PLM, correct and re-send.However, Looking at your current requirement, 30 transaction per month, we can easily address in a 4 GB machine itself.
Additionally, Oracle B2B supports 10+ messages per second in 32GB, 4 processor machine.
Memory suggested above is 4GB, does that take into account memory used by the 10G App server foot print or this is only to take care of messages? Also, how many Processors (Risk IBM) will be needed?

Hi,Iam new to Hyperon Planning Implementation. My Company is going for implementation. We already have Essbase cubes. I wanted to know how exactly Hyperion Planning is related to hyperion Essbase. Is there any Documentation I can get & probably architecture. Typically for a medium sized company how many months will it take for a Hyperion Planning Implemenatation and also Data Loading ...how is this done,, currently we are loading data in Essbase cubes using flat files... what are the main things that We need to focus on implemenatation. How does Planning Relate to Essbase!Planning is a tool for creating and amending Applications and Databases within Essbase. It also provides a method of accessing the data via webbrowsers and controls the edit and view access to Planning Units (Budget, Version, Year combinations as a simplistic view). The full detail can be seen on their website if you look for the Demos (www.hyperion.com).Planning uses a RDBMS to store structures, security information and other data about the Essbase application which is then used to create or amend the Essbase Application / Database. All measures are held in Essbase.You can create dataloads and outline loads (as you can in Essbase) by using Hyperion Application Link (HAL). Amending the Essbase Application directly will not feed back into Hyperion Planning but HAL looks easy enough.I think the question "how long to implement" is a bit like how long is a piece of string! Depends on if you know what you want, how many people there are to train etc etcThis is only a brief explanation but I hope it helps a bit.Rik

Oracle Infrastructure hardware sizing

We are planning on installing an Oracle environment for a digital student portfolio. This environment has 15000 users and might have around 100 concurrent users at certain moments.
We are thinking of putting database, webapplication and oid login on different servers.
The following hardware sizing, can anyone shine a light on this and tell if 2 cpu and 3600mb ram is good enough for these nodes, considering 100 concurrent users?

I understand, like with all things, it depends! That is why im NOT looking for a guarantee, but for a common indication.

Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env

We currently have 9.2.0 Hyperion planning installed in a windows env. We are planning to setup a new Hyperion planning env on a totally new hardware upgraded env. Would be appreciate if some can outline steps invloved to migrate Hyperion Planning apps, forms, BR ect from 9.2.0 to the newly setip 9.3.1 env. Is there any documentation, URL's to do the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any issue to look out for, setbacks details would be helpful.

Hi,
One way of doing it would be :-
Create a new database for your planning application 9.3.1
Create a datasource to the database
Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.1 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 9.2 planning app
Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created
Stop Planning
Restore the 9.2 planning application database over the one created in the first step
Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
Start planning
Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.
Or you could try using the copy app utility though I don't believe it is the best utility about and not sure how it handles between different versions(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch09s01.html)

Hardware Sizing Information for Oracle Financials

We are implementing Oracle GL, AP, AR, Projects, Assets and a payroll package. It is meant for a company having two locations with a concurrent user base of 1000 users.
Can somebody help me to know what kind of Hardware sizing will be optimal.

Since you posted this to the Forms forum, I presume you're talking about Forms...
You can read the Capacity Planning Guide in the Forms area on OTN for info on sizing.
But as a general rule, because there are so many variables which affect scalability, you should do your own testing to be sure you size your hardware appropriately. No sizing calculator will give accurate result, merely ballpark figures.

I presume you are talking about this section http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10773_01/doc/oim.1014/b25355/deployinstall.htm#BABHIJGJ . This section does specify the sizing for some deployment scenarios. It is not brief. We cannot propose the hardware configuration for any customer just referencing this.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Error WHile creating a User in Hyperion Planning

HI,
Please someone guide since im facing this problem for a longtime.
I created a user in Planning webpage and refreshed the security filters.
When i tried to login using planning webinterface, it showed an error "User priscila_monsanto does not exist in the domain or the password is incorrect"
And i could able to find an exception in the file"Hyperion Planning-err.log" present in Jrun path of the planning server.
And when i logged into the admin console for the plannng cube, i found user anme in the security-->users field and there is no filters assigned to the user.
Please help me.

This is definitely a Custom Adapter because OOTB Adapter name is adpADCSADDUSERTOGROUP and NOT adpADDUSERTOADGROUP
So, it is your custom code and in the code you are passing incorrect value of the Active Directory Child process form...
The correct name is UD_ADUSRC and the Group Name column name is UD_ADUSRC_GROUPNAME.
While you are passing UD_AD_CHILD as the child process form and UD_AD_CHILD_GRP_NAME as Group Name column name..
Use OOTB Adapter... Correct these discrepancies... Your addition of group will work
And since you are creating custom adapter, you need to be more careful and remain consistent throughout..
Then if you want to use UD_AD_CHILD_GRP_NAME, use it everywhere consistently... Pass only this value in the adapter...
And even in lookups, if any... Search everywhere... Keep things consistent... They will work... Because good news is that you are able to create user in AD via Java Code...
And if any post is even slightly helpful, it is a good habit to mark it with helpful or correct ... And also mark the entire question as answered so that other people also are benefited.

Here there are 2 things, once your epma heirarchy is ready did you deploy it against your planning App ? and incase if you haven't deployed your planning application, then old outline would be existing in Essbase and if you load data for old outline it will still take into but when you deploy the database gets restructured and older data gets restructured/removed.
Before going onto that level first check if your load data to essbase completed successfully. and did you load data for the combinations on dataform ? ? Try manually inputting a number through data form and submit and do a refresh to see if value comes up. ? Check your data form settings , if you have enables suppress missing rows/blocks.

How to find maximum number of users we can assign for Hyperion Planning.i.e., how to find license limit in hyperion planning 11.1.2.1.
In Essbase propreties, the system is showing maximum planning users could be 65535.
what would be the number for concurrent scenario?

The number of users would be based on your license agreement with Oracle, the system is not aware of your license agreement so it is up to you to stick to it.

Unable to log in to Hyperion Planning App Wizard

Dear All,
Unable to log in to Hyperion Planning App Wizard. This is my new installation. There is no error message in the planing windows. After click on log on button, the page just getting refresh and its come to same page only.
errors in in the planning logs......

Those are just warnings and shouldn't be an issue.
What browser are you using, have you tried to go directly and through workspace to the application creation wizard.

I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
Are they working good .
I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
2) It does not create product instance .
If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.
