Hyperion Planning Load via Webform and Smartview

Good Afternoon All,
Some user are having difficulty with a cube in my organisation, And I'm able to replicate the issue. Basically, When I load data via Webform or Smartview. On retrieval this same data appears all over the place. Please see example below
For example, the data for line 304045ba was loaded as
"Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec"

But it spreads out to the lines below it as shown below.

I think it is to do with folder structure.
We had this
Folder1 -> Folder2 -> Folder3
If you apply security to Folder1 and data forms are in Folder 3, it just won't work in smartview. But if there is only one generation in-between, then it is fine. I applied security to Folder2 and refreshed. It worked like magic!

Business Rules not visible sometimes-via web and smartview

We use EPM 11.1.2.
we have a unique problem-Business rules (associated with forms)sometimes fail to appear either via web or smartview for our users.After logging out and back in,sometimes they appear again.
If we explicitly 'disconnect all' from smartview, close Excel, and go back in again, then the rules are visible.
It is becoming hard to tell when the users can or cannot see the business rules.
All users have the right provisioning-interactive user.
Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
We had a similar issue a while back-with eas web versus eas desktop client. Oracle gave us a specific fix for the eas business rules problem.

Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
"Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

Hyperion Planning Loading Data refreshment issue

Hi All,
I have use load data utility and it will load meta data in to planning application and for effect the same in Essbase
need to refresh the application using manage data base i don't want to refresh the data base
want i exactly i want to do is once my meta data or data change in staging area i run the load data utility
and it will affect on Planning as well as Essbase at the same time.
please suggest can it posible without refreshing or any other way to do this..
i don't want to refresh manually it would be a problem it should be automated.

Hi There,
I fear that the utility(we're talking about) supports only- flat files.
If I'm correct, you may've to extract the data from staging area & master tables in a format conducive to the Planning app. dimensions & then invoke your batch file that calls OutlineLoad utility. Obivously, OutlineLoad utility will look for the latest extracted files before each run.
If you've ODI, you can build a simple interface & then a package to automate this for you. This avoids dealing with extraction layer in your architecture.

Maintain attribute dimensions in Hyperion Planning, via ODI

How can I move/maintain attribute members in Hyperion Planning, preferably via ODI?
I have been loading an attribute dimension into Hyperion Planning, via ODI. The problem is that some children have been previously loaded to incorrect parents. However, a reload does not seem to move the children to their rightful place in the hierarchy.
There are no errors being generated.

Are you definitely sure it is not on the planning side the issue lies, I would create a file and then use the outline loader to compare load times to see where the issue is first.

NetRetryCount and netRetryInterval error in Hyperion Planning web form

User is getting this error when trying to save data on a web form. The error happens intermittenly and on different forms. It is difficult to pinpont the problem, as it does not happen consistently on the same form and as the administrator, I have never been able to replcate if on my computer and under the admin role. It actually causes the Hyperion Planning service to crash and we have to restart the service. The most recent time this occurred there was a rule that was running on save. We have removed the run on save for now. Does anyone know what setting need to be adjusted to eliminate this error?

You can probably try changing the value for netRetryCount and netRetryInterval in Essbase.cfg. Consider changing NetDelay too.
Essbase.cfg file is loacted in:
$HYPERION_HOME/products/Essbase/EssbaseServer/bin/Essbase.cfg

Hyperion Planning form change not flowing through to Smart View

Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 and Smaer View 11.1.2.
I have a user that installed SV yesterday but has been using planning for years. I made a change on his planning form (just added an account) and he does not see this change in smart view. However, he does see the change when logged into Hyperion Planning in his form.
One strange thing about this is the change shows for all hierarchies except for ones that he has loaded data to. So, for a hierarchy that has no data, it shows the form in SV how it is in planning. If he loads data to the hier, the form automatically switches back to how it was before the change, even when the planning form itself hasn't been changed.
Here is what we have tried:
Rebooted machine
removed user security completely from plannng and added back
checked for ghost instance in task manager or excel
Opened new Workbook and opened form fresh
remvoed connection, closed excel and all instances, new connection and open form fro mblank slate
Nothing seems to be working. And I see the form how it is in planning. HE does not, he sees it the "old way" and ony for hier points that have data submitted to them. So, literally switches the view based on the POV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like in the smart list set up you set "#Missing Data Form Label:" to "Data Form Setting" change it to "Drop Down Setting" and it should be alright.

E-mail notifications in Hyperion Planning

Hi! In Administration->Application Settings I checked "Enable e-mail notifications" and indicated the name of the Microsoft Exchange Server. I also indicated e-mail addresses for all relevant users both in Hyperion Planning in File->Preferences and in Shared Services in the Native Directory. However e-mail notificaions still do not work. Can anyone give me an idea on what could be wrong or missing in my settings? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, John! I am preparing a small demo for a client and I would like to make some test workflow e-mail notifications through my company's MS Exchange Server to my inbox. I asked our Administrator if our Exchange Server requires authentication and he said yes, it does every time that I log into my inbox - otherwise anyone in our office could watch my e-mail messages which is unaceptable. In all other functions this exchange server does not require authentification. So could you please clarify which kind of authentication you mean and if our Administrator gave me a sufficient answer? As for testing me e-mail from outside of planning, My Administrator said that our Exchange Server is presently in the process of being configured. So, with regard to testing smtp server from outside planning: if you meant just the ability to send/receive messages from outside planning, then it is works fine in my case. Hyperion Planning and Smartview Free form

Hi All,
I am currently using Hyperion planning 11.1.2.2, after a successful application creation, data load via EAS, Reports/Forms are working perfectly in smartview.
Now I would like to go beyond Adhoc Analysis, I would like to know if it is possible to use Free Forms with Planning?
when I try to create a free form with this connection profile" http://server:19000/HyperionPlanning/SmartView" it doesn't work. I cannot add label columns outside the borders of the form/Reports (blue cells).
I checked on the web and it seems that free form is only possible with essbase aps ?
please help.

Hi Toufik,
Are the lines you want to add just labels for your own use? You should be able to open a form in Ad-Hoc analysis, then add a new row (using standard excel functionality) and add a label in this line. You can still change dimension members using the drill functionality and by over-typing Dimension member cells and refresh the sheet with your label in place.
I've just tested this on 11.1.2.2 as I was doubting myself and it definitley works connecting to Planning. Is the above what you're trying to achieve?

Hyperion Planning and Smartview : Build function HS Description

Dear all,
I am currently using Hyperion planning 11.1.2.2, I would like to display in excel adhoc reports the description of some dimension members via smartview.
To this end I used the "build function" functionality:
I selected an empty cell and call the functionality, a window appears with two parameters :
1-connection : this field is automatically filed (WSFN|HP|pc|Planning|Plan1)
2-Member List : I would like to fil it manually ex : "Account#100"
I click on validate : the following message appears : Selected connection does not support this function.select new connection.
I would like to know what is meant by connection? what is the syntax of the connection string? could you please provide an example?

Hsdescription is not supported by Planning connection.
You can use that with Essbase connection.

ODI and Loading to/Extracting from Hyperion Planning **?

All,
first--I am not a Hyperion expert.
Clients have 2 requirements:
#1. Loading data ( flat file format residing in Windows environment) ''to'' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1
#2. Extracting Data 'From' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 to a flat file ( residing in Windows environment)
Questions:
#1 I have looked at materials at OBE > ( http://ias.us.oracle.com/portal/page?_pageid=33,1704614&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL)
I have been able to reverse engineer a Hyperion application in ODI. but apparently that's not all, and there is additional work to be done in Hyperion itself
namely---'preparing' dimensional members, before loading any data.
Let's say the input data is comprised of: Product_code, Account_num, Period, Amount
Can someone explain how the following recommended steps by Hyperion example can plays out to load this data?
1) Loading Metadata? ( what needs to be added/changed in Hyperion diemnsion)
2) Loading Data?
#2 do we have to use ODI to create interface and extract/write data from Hyperion to a flat file? isn't there any Hyperion 'Facility' which does that?

Hello,
Unfortunately there is no SSO option from "Planning to FDM" via Tasks.
The URL you should tell Planning to launch in a new window is 'http://<ServerName>/HyperionFDM'
If Planning can not execute that in a fresh IE window; then there isn't much that can be done.
It might also be advantageous to post this to the Planning group as well; since this isn't necessarily an FDM discussion.

I am new to Essbase and have worked extensively in Informatica. Hyperion DIM (OEM version of Informatica) is chosen to create and populate a Hyperion Planning System (with Essbase cube in the backend).
I am using Hyperion DIM 9.3.
Can someone let me know (or share a document) how I can do the following
1) Create a Planning application with a Essbase Cube in the backend using Hyperion Data Integration Management
2) How to populate the Essbase outline and the actuals Essbase cube with data using DIM.

Hi,
You cannot create planning applications using DIM.
To load metadata have a look at :- http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hyp_fp/DIM_Planning/OBE_Dim_Planning.html
You can refresh planning database in DIM by
To enable the Refresh Database property for a session:
In Workflow Manager, right-click the session and select Edit.
Click the Mapping tab.
Select a Planning target.
Check the Refresh Database box.

Unable to load metada into Hyperion Planning using ODI

HI All,
I am using ODI 11g and trying to load the metadata for Hyperion Planning application 11.1.2.1. But I couldnt load all the Product members in Product Dimension.
Could able to load few members but was able to run the interface successfully but thrown error while loading few members(Most of the members are shared members, verified that base members existed). Please find the below error log.

Can you check the error log file as you have posted the log file, it should give more information to why the records were rejected.

Unable to load Dimension into Hyperion planning using ODI ?

Hi All
We are trying to load Dimension into hyperion planning Ver. 11.1.2 using ODI. We have created the interface and mapped the source csv file to target planmning application using ODI KM.
LKM file to SQL
IKM SQL to Planning
We get success in ODI's Operator but the Dimension is not updated nor new data is insreted.
We get this message in Error file:-

Copy and paste cell content of web form of Hyperion Planning

Our end users encountered performance issues in using the web forms of Hyperion Planning. We have some large web form with 60 columns and 100 rows i.e. around 6000 cells. When end user move around the cell they feel a slow response in the web form especially when copy and paste some cell content from one row to another, or a few cells from one position to other position.
Anyone got similar experience in using web form? Also we understand that Hyperion design will check the cell content of each cell and generate a SQL query to the backend metadata database. It is quite time consuming and waste CPU resource because most of the time our end user will not keep the text information under each cell. We have consulted Oracle team and understand that we cannot disable the cell content checking via SQL query.
Any workaround solution exists to reduce or remove the performance issue in cell content copy and paste?

We will try to locate the enterdata.jsp and enterdata.js and found out where the SQL being executed.We found out the Enterdata.js under the deployment directory of Weblogic. However it is over 400KB size and many many lines of codes. We think that it is very difficult to locate where should be customized to remove the SQL checking on cell content.

How to copy and paste from excel in Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 using the Mozilla 17 as my browser?

Hi,
I'm using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2.300 and Mozilla 17 as my web browser, and I'm trying to paste a number from excel directly into a cell in a data form in Hyperion.
ie. after I copy the figure from a cell in excel, I go to a cell in Hyperion Planning and either press Ctrl+V or use the right-click mouse button on the cell where the Copy/Paste/Cut... menu appears.
Either way the number is not pasted (nothing happens)
On the other hand, if I double left-click in the cell (which is used for entering values manually in Hyperion Planning) the number if pasted correctly, however this is not a good workaround.
Please assist.

Yes you're absolutely right, I created VR from the manage form's menu. So I use standard HP 11.1.2 functionality. I've seen it in new features while read Oracle documentation. Also with testing of approvals in Proccess managment I use distinct colours for negatives and diff values (greater 1000 and 100 in my example). Colours work fine, but i can't say it about aprovals :). And all these examples of using planning form VR's i've taken from oracle administrators&user guiide and from presentations of EPM 11.1.2
In addition I've started work with Hyperion products 2-3 month ago. Hence I have to read a lot of information because my previous experience was OLTP, RDBMS not OLAP.
As a first step i wanna know all standard possibilities of product i use. And also best practice and some often used technics. Many thanks for your idea with Smart list and BR i'll try it (though i use EMPA and Calc Manager rules). I know that soon I have to use Java API's, so I might read and learn Java to write the simplest code first. But for me it's too much info i have to load into my brain in such short period :)
As a resume, my opinion it's a bug of new features EPM 11.1.2. But maybe I'm wrong cause none has said the same
