Hyperion Planning Upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2

Hyperion Planning Upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2
So far I have done the following 3 steps:
1. I have successfully installed and configured Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 in a new Server. (Windows Server 2008 R2).
2. I have created a blank classic Planning Application in 11.1.2.2.
3. I have copied the relational database from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2
Could you please let me know the next steps to perform the upgrade?
Should I use the Migrate Button in the Hyperion Planning Webpage or use the option in the EPM System Configurator "Upgrade existing database to the current release from 11.1.1.3". Please advise.
Note : A native User is the owner of the Planning Application in 11.1.1.3 and hence I made the same in 11.1.2.2 also.
Also, please let me know if I need to migrate the shared services security and convert the HBRs to Calc Manger rules first before upgrading the Planning Application.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks John for your quick response.
Yes, I have performed a clean install and then going for upgrading the existing Planning Application.
The Application owner in both the source and target Applications is a native user named hypadmin (not the default admin user). Do you want me to change the owner to default admin user, or the user hypadmin is ok to go with?
Please advise.
Also, is there any specific order I need to follow for migrating the below components?
1. Shared Services Security
2. HBRs to Calc Manger Rules
3. Existing Planning Application Upgrade

    Hi,
I am getting the below given erro while upgrading hyperion planning from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
I have done the following steps in sequence to achive the upgrade:
    1. Created a planning application "plantest" on 9.3.1 , created hireachy and "create Database" from planning to make the essbase outile.
    2. took the backup of planning db repository from 9.3.1 using expdp in a dumpfile.
    3. migrated the essbase from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
    4. logged on to 11.1.1.3 AppWizard to create the similar planning application with the same name "plantest".
    5. made a note of HSP_USER 50001 sid on 11.1.1.3
    6. stopped the planning on 11.1.1.3
    7. imported the 9.3.1 dump on 11.1.1.3 using the following command :impdp system/password DIRECTORY=TEST_DIR DUMPFILE=PLANNING_FINAL.DMP TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
    8. started the planning on 11.1.1.3
9.When I am trying to login to the planning application on 11.1.1.3 - I am getting the following error:
    - Application plantest is invalid.
I tried loging agian on the same page, this time it gave me a tab "Migrate" instead of usual "logon" and when I tried loging in, it gave the below error:
    - An error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details
Please let me know if i am doing anything wrong? - which log should I go and check?
    Please help, its urgent.
    thanks,

Yes, on clicking the migrate button i get the error.
I am now looking into "HyS9Planning-sysout.log" and it has the following major errors:

  • Planning upgrade from system 9.2 to System 11

    Hi,
Can any one pls. let me know the upgradation process from Hyperion Planning version 9.2 to version 11 ? Can we directly migrate from version 9.2 to 11 ?
    Thanks,
    PR

    Hi,
I would not go down trying to directly upgrade from 9.2. to V11.
I would back up all your planning objects, install configure V11 and perform a standard planning migration, it will upgrade the planning relational database.
    Cheers

  • Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env

We currently have 9.2.0 Hyperion planning installed in a windows env. We are planning to setup a new Hyperion planning env on a totally new hardware upgraded env. Would be appreciate if some can outline steps invloved to migrate Hyperion Planning apps, forms, BR ect from 9.2.0 to the newly setip 9.3.1 env. Is there any documentation, URL's to do the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any issue to look out for, setbacks details would be helpful.
    Thanks..

    Hi,
One way of doing it would be :-
Create a new database for your planning application 9.3.1
Create a datasource to the database
Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.1 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 9.2 planning app
Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created
    Stop Planning
Restore the 9.2 planning application database over the one created in the first step
Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    Start planning
Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.
Or you could try using the copy app utility though I don't believe it is the best utility about and not sure how it handles between different versions(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch09s01.html)
    Cheers

    Rahul,
As John pointed out, copyapp may be available between different versions of planning but is not compatible between different versions of the software. When a copyapp command runs, it connects to shared services, planning and essbase data sources and basically performs an export and import of data. It works on the premise that structure for export is same as structure for import. However, the underlying architecture for shared services (moving away from openldap) and planning tables, essbase (security outside .sec file) has changed and there you cannot just export and import between different versions of software.

  • Need help in copying Hyperion Planning application from Production to UAT

    Hi,
We are currently using Hyperion Planning version 9.3.1.
We have Hyperion planning cubes which are used for Hyperion Planning application. Users use Planning web forms.
We need to copy the current PROD application to UAT which are on different servers.
I am new user to Hyperion Planning and I am aware of Hyperion Essbase.
I am aware of process to copy the Planning cube between the PROD and UAT servers.
I need your assistance in completing the Hyperion Planning migration other than Planning cube copy activity as it involves more than cube copying. like Planning forms, etc.
    Thanks,
    Praveen.

We have 'HYPPLN' Planning applciation and the related Essbase Cube and not 'HPSPLN'. Verified on to the 'PlanningSystemDB.properties' file and its entried are
    SYSTEM_DB_DRIVER=hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    SYSTEM_DB_URL=jdbc:hyperion:sqlserver://<DBServer>:1440
    SYSTEM_DB_USER=hypadm
    SYSTEM_DB_PASSWORD=DIFLAIAIANFGBMFO
    SYSTEM_DB_CATALOG=PLNSYS2
    SYSTEM_DB_TYPE=SQL
    INSTANCE=HYPPLNINS
Here too the SYSTEM_DB_CATALOG is having entry as PLNSYS2 and not the HYPPLN which is our Planning application name. Tried verifying on PROD which is running fine and we there too have HYPPLN cube/planning application but at the DB Server, we have Database as PLNSYS again and the DB_CATALOG is having entry as 'PLNSYS' and not the HYPPLN. Not sure if this is ok or not.
Also tried looking at the SELECT Permission issue that is there on the error log.
The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'HSP_SYSTEMCFG', database 'master', schema 'dbo'.
On our Database Server side, i have PLNSYS2 and the tables under this are only few as :
    dbo.HSP_ACTION
    dbo.HSPSYS_APP_CLUSTER_DTL
    dbo.HSPSYS_APPLICATION
    dbo.HSPSYS_CLUSTER
    dbo.HSPSYS_DATASOURCE
    dbo.HSPSYS_PI_INFO
    dbo.HSPSYS_PROPERTIES
I do not see HSP_SYSTEMCFG and other mainly discussed table 'HSP_USERS' for SID verifications.
I have writtend the issue in detail and I couldn't find the related solutions on the forums too. Please verify and help me in fixing the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Migrating Hyperion Planning Applications from 11.1.2.2(old server) to 11.1.2.3(Development Server)

    HI All,
I have  1 PSPB, 1 PFP and one OPEX Planning Applications in 11.1.2.2 old server which we are planning to move these apps into new development server having Hyperion11.1.2.3v installed. I have gone thru few documents but im still in dilemma that can we go ahead with LCM backup and export apps in old server thru LCM backup and place it in File system area of new development server like we do usually or do we need to upgrade the 11.1.2.2 old server with maintenance release and then taking LCM backup of that upgraded applications only, we can migrate in new server having 11.1.2.3?
    Please guide
    Thanks

A)Created a planning shell application with the same name as that of 11.1.2.2 planning application
    B)Backup 11.1.2.2 planning schema
c)Restore the old schema 11.1.2.2 to new environment 11.1.2.3
D)update the SID ,Only if the userid (Default :admin) is different for 11.1.2.3   version
    E)Restart the planning services
or make use of Planning Upgrade wizard
A)Logon to workspace (11.1.2.2)under Administer-> Classic Application Administration-> Planning Administration
B)Go to Classic Application Wizard ->Upgrade Wizard
or also try with the lcm way.
    Thanks,
    Sreekumar Hariharan

  • Problem loading data to Hyperion Planning app. from Oracle EBS using ERPi

I'm using ERPi to load data to Planning application from EBS.
I have configured Source and Target, created import formats, location, data load rules etc.
When I'm running data load rule it is showing that data is imported and exported sucessfully. I can see data in the right format in data load workbench. ODI shows process completed sucessfully. But still there is no data loaded in Planning.
Even AIF_HS_BALANCES staging view in ERPi repository shows correct data.
Can some one tell me what could be the problem.
Or where I can see logs for the data load step for Planning.
ODI operater logs are not very clear to me. Same for log tables in ODI work repository.

    Hi Tony
Apologies for the delay (my email spammed the notification that you had replied, helpful!!). When you say that you have done it but discourage accessing the tables directly how did you achieve this? Were you just careful which data intersections your selected from the tables (e.g. always base level data so it is stored not calculated)?
I have used the HFM relational tables a couple of times to make use of the metadata that they contain but not tried to get data before.
    Regards
    Stuart

  • Planning upgrading from t3i

Hey guys!So I've had my t3i for a while and I think I'm hitting the limitations in the t3i in terms of what I'm doing now. I've had the camera for about 1-2 years (was given to me as a xmas gift) and up until now, I've done automotive photography, nature photography, as well as portrait photography. I thought that the T3i was already a good enough camera for me to suit my needs but I realized I might need more now but I'm not sure. One night, I was doing rolling shots with a few buddies of mine and noticed in post processing, that there was a ton of grain in most of the pictures if I turned up the shadows (was shooting in betwen 1/10-1/20th of a second at F8.0 at 3200ISO. What are the benefits of upgrading from a T3i or do I just need a better lens? I was thinking of going to either a T4i or a T5i but at the same time, I want to go for a full frame sensored camera but I don't know if the types of photography I'm doing right now require such an advanced camera such as the 5D MkII  or if the t4i/t5i will be good enough. Also, do the lenses for the T3i work for the 5D MKII or do I have to purchase new lenses for it? I'm guessing the lenses for the T3i are compatible with the T4i and the T5i. Thanks!

If you "turned up the shadows" on these, they were heavily underexposed... which is pretty much guaranteed to make for a ton of noise as soon as you turn it up in post processing. SHOOT RAW AND AVOID UNDEREXPOSURE LIKE THE PLAGUE. To me your sample shots still look a bit underexposed (nore on that in a moment). In fact, it's often better to overexposure your images a little... I use +1/3 stop for 3200 and +2/3 stop for 6400... then pull the image brightness back down in post processing. This minimizes noise, rather than amplifying it. I hope you don't mind... I took one of your images into Photoshop, lightened it a lot and increased the contrast... then applied Noiseware noise reduction (same "formula" that I use with my 7Ds when shooting at ISO 3200)... then resharpened the image a bit. Normally sharpening will really increase the appearance of noise, which is why I didn't do any more until after applying NR. It improved quite a bit, I think. But would have been even better working from an original, full size RAW file that had not been so heavily underexposed. I also fooled around with the color balance a little.... But there are mixed types of light in the image so, I didn't go to far with this. If it were my image and I were spending more time optimizing it, I'd do a color balance on the main subject and foreground, then adjust the background separately. Anyway, here's the result...   Regarding underexposure... Do you have your computer monitor calibrated? The reason I ask is that most monitors are way too bright to work with photographs, leading you to make too dark images, to the point you don't realize how much you are underexposing them when shot. The first step in calibration is setting the monitor's brightness. When I first got my current monitor 3 or 4 years ago, I had to set it down to about 20% brightness for accurate prints.  Now, after several years use I still have to turn it down to about 50% or my prints and images posted online end up way too dark. I am afraid you might be disappointed with a new camera if you don't resolve some other things first. Don't blame the gear! As it is, you likely aren't getting anywhere close to the best possible high ISO shots out of the camera you've got now. ***********

  • Hyperion Planning migration from 32-bit to 64-bit windows OS

    Hi All,
Planning is installed on 32-bit VM servers with windows 2003 Standard Edition in our environment and we are having memory issues when running in full load
Trying to understand whether we can move to move to 64-bit where it can help for increase in memory as required beyond 4 GB
Current version of Hyperion is 11.1.1.2 for some of the components(HFM,FDM,Planning,Essbase etc) and 11.1.1.3 for some components (HSS, workspace, FR,etc)
    a) Do we need to re install the Hyperion software after the OS is upgraded with 64-bit?
    b) Does the 32-bit applications created will support on 64-bit installations
    c) Do we have separate softwares for all OEPM components when it comes to 32-bit or 64-bit and not sure whether that difference is present for all components
    or only specific components
It would be of great help if anybody can post some ideas who have come across this situation
    Thanks

You are best having a look at the support matrix to see which products are 32/64bit and on which OS.
If you are looking to run 64bit planning on a windows OS then you are probably looking at 11.1.2
You need to install the software after the OS has been upgraded.
If you are talking about hyperion applications created on a 32bit platform then yes they will work on a 64bit platform.
Depends on the version to whether there are separate 32bit/64bit install files.
To be honest this is quite a detailed subject and I only give a quick overview on here, I recommend you getting in a consultant to discuss your options.
    Cheers

  • Hyperion Planning Upgrade  License fee

    Hi,
If we upgrade Planning 3.3.1 to 9.3.1, do we have to pay an additional license fee apart from the support fee?
    Madhura.

Unless something has changed, the answer is yes. I'd talk to my sales person to determine what that fee is.

  • Hyperion Planning Upgrade

    Hi
we are planning to upgrade our environment(Planning,FR,HSS,EAS etc..) from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3.
what is the brief procedure to upgrade to 9.3.3
Is it patch installation on the existing environment? or we have to install the software on new servers and migrate the application?
If its a patch installation, do we have to make any mojor changes to the application.
    please suggest..
    Thanks,

You don't have to install on different servers, there is a readme for each product which tells you how to upgrade/deploy to the 9.3.3 release.
They are available at - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/nav/portal_1.htm
Make sure you read everything very carefully and be totally sure you understand before upgrading, if it is not clear then call in a consultant to help with the upgrade.
    Cheers

  • Installing the hyperion planning downloaded from otn

I have downloaded hyperion from the below link.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/bi/performance-management/hyperion_planning.html
I have read in installation guide which says to run setup.exe, but there is no
setup.exe file found when we extract the above downloaded .zip files.

    Hi,
You should download the files from Oracle edelivery site.
    http://edelivery.oracle.com/
I think the files you have downloaded is just a patch.

  • Ipad 2 prepaid plan upgrade from ipad 1

I have an unlimited plan with my iPad 1.  I want to transfer it to my new iPad 2 when it arrives in a couple of days.  What is the best way to do that?

I have already done this.  There are two easy ways.  One is to access your iPad AT&T account via the web and enter the new numbers in place of the old numbers.  This is what I did.
    Go to http://www.att.com/ipadlanding
    Sign into your account
Select Edit User & Payment Information
Select Update Device Information and enter the numbers from your new iPad.
The second is to call AT&T and have them perform the edit.
A third way I've heard also works is to just swap the SIM cards.
    As stated by gdgmacguy:
Do NOT activate the data plan on the new iPad before performing the edit yourself or talking to AT&T first if you do not wish to have both iPads activated.
