Hyperion Reporting page suppression

We have several books set up in Hyperion Reports that prints a report for all the cost centers that fall within a particular region. Some of these cost centers do not have activity during some months. We would like to suppress the entire page if there is no activity. We have tried suppressing rows, columns, and grids however the page header still shows up as part of the book. Any help with this would be greatly appreaciated.

I am not sure what all you have in your header but you could try using a formula with and IF ELSE and see if you can suppress your header components that way. Check for some grid cell and see if that is NULL or blank then make the header blank. Just an idea.

Hyperion Reports Page Dimension Auto Calc

In Hyperion Reports 7.x, is there a way to create an autocalculation in the page dimension? Similar to rows andcolumns, I would like to create a "grand total" memberwithin my page dimension that is a SUM of any dynamically selectedpagedimension (when prompted to select any multiple members). 1) Click on the top of the column and then go to the column properties pane on the right. Go to the Suppression section and you have a coulpe of choices. You can choose a Basic option and supress if the column Is Zero and/or Missing values. You can also choose advanced options and click the setup button. A new box will open and give you the ability to set criteria for suppressing the column. For instance if member name of product selected is "Product1" supress, otherwise show the column.2) There is no option, I am aware of, to do this. A non-elegant workaround would be to highlight the text on the HTML page, copy and paste it into Excel. The new version of Hyperion Reports 7.2 now supports exporting reports from HTML to Excel with Formating. I'm not sure whether or not that means headings will be exported as well.3) You have to use the grid POV to do this. Move your mouse to the top left corner of your grid, where the rows and columns meet. Right click and select "Grid Point of View Setup...". Hyperion Reports COnditional Suppression

We're trying to build a report using conditional suppressionthat only shows variances over a certain dollar amount. Is there away to create a subtotal just of those variances that still show upon the report?

Table of Contents In Hyperion Reports

 Hi, I setup a Hyperion Report with location used for pages. When I print report, I get the expected result of each page being a location I specified, and in the order I specified. I'd like to distribute same report as pdf, but incorporate a table of contents based on page definition in report. Page 1 would have my table of contents, page 2 would have the first location, page 3 the second location, etc. Is this feasible? Thanks in advance for your help. -Carl

Setting Isolate Report/Page sections and Isolate Group sections using SDK

Hi all,
Has anyone exported the report to CSV format, by setting Isolate Report/Page sections and Isolate Group sections programmatically. If so, to which object should i set, and what are the methods to do
this ? The CSV exported report contains lots of these sections, along with the actual data, so i am
trying to suppress these other data in the exported file.
I am using BOE SDK.

I would suggest you to see setGroupSectionsOption and setReportSectionsOption of CharacterSeparatedValuesExportFormatOptions class given in RAS APIs.

Hyperion Reports unable to connect to HFM

I have a problem with Win32 version of Hyperion Reports 7.2.1.6.
Server: Windows Server 2003
WorkStation: Windows XP Professional [Version 5.1.2600]
HFM server version: 4.0.2.0.967
Reports client version: 7.2.1.6
HFM client version: 4.0.1.0.750
Description of problem: In Reports Win32 client, File>Database Connection Manager>Edit [HFM application] connection, attempt to connect, fails, giving access error,
"Failed to Connect to Server. [Show details] Error connecting to database connection SENAOD: Access is denied"
On the HFM server, the security event log shows rejection of the userID that is in use on the workstation. This ID has no rights on the server. This configuration worked fine, I believe, until a group of Windows patches was applied.

My bet is that at least one of these patches eliminated unauthenticated access to HFM connectivity. My challenge now is to reconfigure HFM and Reports to work under these new Windows security rules. Can anyone help?
More information:
Browser client works fine, Win32 client does not.
Win32 client works fine from server's client installation and from client installation on another server. These servers are all in the same MS Active Directory domain. My conclusion is that success comes because I log into these servers using a valid MSAD ID.
Failure is only on workstations trying to connect to the servers.
Workstation user authentication is LDAP via Novell eDirectory

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.

Top/Bottom reports in Hyperion Reports?

Hi, I'm trying to produce a top 100 customers report using Hyperion Reports. Is there a way to do this? I found the RANK function, but that just returns a value--it doesn't filter based on data values. The only way I can find to do it is to add a formula column with the RANK function, then suppress any rows where that column's value is greater than 100. A bit of an awkward workaround, it seems. Maybe I'm just missing something, but it seems that given how easy it is to do this in Query Designer, report scripts, and Analyzer, that it would be easy in Reports, as well. Thanks, Jared 

Gary, Thanks for the quick reply. But is it just me, or does it seem somewhat lame that there's not a built-in functionality for top/bottom reports? Or could it be that that functionality falls more into the Analysis category than the basic reporting category, and that's why Analyzer has it and HR doesn't? Jared

Top 10 Report Hyperion Reports

I couldn't find anything in the user's guide that walked me through creating a top 10 report in Hyperion reports. Are there multiple steps involved? If so, can you explain what they are? I'm hoping to create reports that will comprise not only top 10, but top 15, top 30, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately you are going to find this difficult. I was very disappointed in Hyperion's lack of functionality in Hyperion Reports when trying to do stuff like this. It's not a great report tool. You can do as Jared mentioned by using the Rank and suppress. the problem you start to run into is when you want to have sub totals. Chances are if you have a top 10, you want a line at the bottom that shows the sum of those ten. This starts to become difficult since you cannot control the order of operations in Hyperion Reports. You wind up having the sum performed prior to the suppression which gives you a useless result that sums all rows, not just the top 10. There are some work-arounds but they complicate the design and wind up limiting the report in other ways.

Open Hyperion Report in Analyzer

I know you can open a Hyperion Report in Analyzer using Related Content, but can you do it through other means such as a button.

one option I would see is to create a task flow that uses a JSPX page. The input parameter for this page would pass in the URL to call. Then you configure the task flow to be called from a call activity in the bounded task flow with the page fragment. On the task flow call activity configure it to open in a separate window

Com.hyperion.reporting.util.HyperionReportException

Hi,
I am getting the below error when i click on any folder in FR studio.

When I create any new report in Studio and try to open in workspace, I get a blank page. Also when I go back to studio and click on the report i again get the same nested exception error.
Also I dont see all the folders in studio that I see in workspace.
We upgraded from 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.2 and these reports were working fine in 11.1.2.0.

How do I run query per report page?

I have a report with two subreports which both need queries to run on the fly per supplier(per report page). All the other subreports on the page as well as the main report queries are loaded in advance before the report and includes all records needed for all suppliers. However, these two querys that I'm trying to have run per report though can only be loaded one at a time because of the way these queries are formated (it allows a bar graph to show a label for only the current supplier on the x-axis and all other suppliers will display a "" for x-axis label, effectively only showing one legend label per report). I already have the necessary parameter needed for the report(Pm-Supplier) so how can I run an oracle query on the fly per report page?

You can't, CR considers each subreport as a separate report and therefore it makes a new connection and runs the SQL for the subreport.

How to show all the search result in a report page

I have a report page which the user can enter first or last name to find the matched employees. The current report only show maximum of 15 matched results. How to show all of them in one page if more than 15.
Also, the employee name on the report is a link, how to make the link to be conditional. ( I mean it can be a link or not based on another column)

Hi, you can change the number of rows on the report definition page (15 is the default value)- that's also where you can change pagination and max. number of rows etc.
About the second question - you will have to use Case or Decode in your report query and have the value as link or not based on the condition column, something like:
Select Decode(condition_column, 'link_value', '<a href="f?p=YOUR_APP:PAGE_TO_LINK_TO:' || :SESSION || ':::::">display_column</a>' , display_column) From .....

History report page prints before printing each new document?cc=us

How do i stop my HP Officejet 6700 Premium from printing a history report page before printing each new document, using Windows 7 & Using Microsoft Word? When I open a document and print it, it prints a history including: File Name; Directory; Template; Title; Subject; Keywords; Comments; creation Date; Change Number; Last Saved On; Last Saved By; Total Editing; Last Printed On; As of Last Printing....
Everything worked perfectly for a year, then I had to reinstall the printer because I deleted it by mistake. I cary it with me when I travel to meetings and didn't have my install disk, so I had to download the install software. I haven't changed any settings in Word, but it appears that the report is generated from Word.
Help will be appreciated. I can't find any other topic like mine to see an already presented solution.

Hi,
The report indeed being generated by Word and not by the pritner driver.
As you did not clarify your MS Office version I included the steps for Word 2010, I believe the same should also apply for Word 2007:
From Word click the File menu, then select Options.
Select Display from the left pane.
Under the Printing Options sections, uncheck the box next to Print document properties.
Click OK and try printing again.
If you cannot find the specific option, please clarify your exact Microsoft Wiord version.

Populate report page based on results from stored procedure

Is it possible to populate a report page in APEX based on the results from a stored procedure? If so, how do I do it? Do I write a stored procedure with a ref cursor as out parameter?

I would use a stored procedure to return the values for a form but not for a report. For a
report, I would use a pipelined function. See an example here:
