Can Hyperion Reports provide reports from an IOP repository?

IOP supports MDX queries and there are "snapshot" commands that take MDX query as an argument and stores the results in a relational table. The MDX query can be used to serve any slice of cubular data and for any scenario. Once the data is in relational form, you can then use any reporting tool.
IOP also has an integration with OBIEE and that can be used for reporting against IOP data.

Top/Bottom reports in Hyperion Reports?

Hi, I'm trying to produce a top 100 customers report using Hyperion Reports. Is there a way to do this? I found the RANK function, but that just returns a value--it doesn't filter based on data values. The only way I can find to do it is to add a formula column with the RANK function, then suppress any rows where that column's value is greater than 100. A bit of an awkward workaround, it seems. Maybe I'm just missing something, but it seems that given how easy it is to do this in Query Designer, report scripts, and Analyzer, that it would be easy in Reports, as well. Thanks, Jared 

Gary, Thanks for the quick reply. But is it just me, or does it seem somewhat lame that there's not a built-in functionality for top/bottom reports? Or could it be that that functionality falls more into the Analysis category than the basic reporting category, and that's why Analyzer has it and HR doesn't? Jared

Top 10 Report Hyperion Reports

I couldn't find anything in the user's guide that walked me through creating a top 10 report in Hyperion reports. Are there multiple steps involved? If so, can you explain what they are? I'm hoping to create reports that will comprise not only top 10, but top 15, top 30, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately you are going to find this difficult. I was very disappointed in Hyperion's lack of functionality in Hyperion Reports when trying to do stuff like this. It's not a great report tool. You can do as Jared mentioned by using the Rank and suppress. the problem you start to run into is when you want to have sub totals. Chances are if you have a top 10, you want a line at the bottom that shows the sum of those ten. This starts to become difficult since you cannot control the order of operations in Hyperion Reports. You wind up having the sum performed prior to the suppression which gives you a useless result that sums all rows, not just the top 10. There are some work-arounds but they complicate the design and wind up limiting the report in other ways.

Hyperion reports to BI queries/workbooks

Hi Ashok,
BW data could be reported from Hyperion by connecting the system with the right adapter,
the other way around isn't possible (querying hyperion data via BW) except by setting the hyperion DB as a DB/UD Connect source system and having remote IProviders on-top of it.
If you need then you can synchronize BW metadata in Hyperion then,
create a report in Hyperion which will retrieve data from a BW query released for OLE/DB for OLAP (query properties/extended).
now you can access any BW query / cube / multiprovider in BW system

Hyperion Reports Page Dimension Auto Calc

In Hyperion Reports 7.x, is there a way to create an autocalculation in the page dimension? Similar to rows andcolumns, I would like to create a "grand total" memberwithin my page dimension that is a SUM of any dynamically selectedpagedimension (when prompted to select any multiple members). 1) Click on the top of the column and then go to the column properties pane on the right. Go to the Suppression section and you have a coulpe of choices. You can choose a Basic option and supress if the column Is Zero and/or Missing values. You can also choose advanced options and click the setup button. A new box will open and give you the ability to set criteria for suppressing the column. For instance if member name of product selected is "Product1" supress, otherwise show the column.2) There is no option, I am aware of, to do this. A non-elegant workaround would be to highlight the text on the HTML page, copy and paste it into Excel. The new version of Hyperion Reports 7.2 now supports exporting reports from HTML to Excel with Formating. I'm not sure whether or not that means headings will be exported as well.3) You have to use the grid POV to do this. Move your mouse to the top left corner of your grid, where the rows and columns meet. Right click and select "Grid Point of View Setup...". Automating a Hyperion Report

Hi,
I'm trying to automate pulling a report out of essbase. The data export calcs create a level0 txt file which is hard to validate line by line against an an oracle report. I'm pretty much wanting to pull everything at the top level except the accounts dimension whiich needs to be at level 0 so I can compare the balance in Oracle to Hyperion. This needs to be an automated solution and I'll be using VBScript to run sql queries out of Oracle. Is it possible to pull a report at different levels within essbase in maxl or any other form? I'm really not familiar with Hyperion Reports. Is it possible to run a Hyperion Report via a script and have it produce a txt file?
I really appreciate any information on this and hope someone can help.

Have you considered using the Essbase Report Script? It's got some capability to format the exported file. However, running report script can be slower than calc scripts in which some tuning may be required.

Prompt issue with WebI Report on top of Bex

Hello Experts,
I have WebI report on top of Bex. I have Material Parameter on WebI which has materal key and text. When I select Material, It gets only Mateial Name not the key. We have some users they want to see both text and key.

How to display the text in a classical report before top-of-page?

whenever there is write statement and you are going to display some thing the system checks for the TOP-OF-PAGE and we are helpless here
so declare your heading in the TOP-OF-PAGE only

Error while running batch in Hyperion Reports

Has anybody run accross this error while trying to run a batch in Hyperion Reports:
Unexpected Error creating query to datasource in createCubeViews:
The book the batch is running is big...

Have you ever successfully scheduled a batch? Make sure the scheduled batch name does not contain an ampersand "&" symbol or an apostrophe/single tick symbol. Those cause batches to error out for us.

Crystal report on top of a BW query

Hi,
We are using BO XI3 with the SAP integration kit. We have built crystal reports on top of BW queries in Crystal Reports 2008 (installed with the SAP integration kit). Queries work fine when we launch them with the client of Crystal reports.
Problems arrive when we try to launch these crystal reports on the business object server. We can run reports without parameters, but we receive an error message for all the crystal reports that include parameters. The error message is "Servlet execution threw an exception".
If anyone has an idea to solve the issue...

Hi,
The problem came from the installation setup that didn't work because the folders are defined the same way fro Tomcat 5 and Tomcat 5.5. In Tomcat 5.5, a folder missed and the installation was not complete.

Chart are not supported in crystal report - on top of SAP R/3

Hi All,
I have made one crystal report on top of SAP R/3 system. I have included some graphs on it.
But when i uploaded that report on infoview portal, it shows blank page when i try to view it on portal. It works fine in Crystal Report 2008.
I have one other report without graphs, it works fine on infoview portal. This reports works fine with "Enterprise" authentication.

- Authentication: Enterprise

Ya.. its strange!! Because when i have created a report without Chart.. it works fine on portal. But when i added a chart in same i get blank page.
And have you make that report on top of SAP R/3 (Or ECC).
Even when i have made report on top of SAP BI with chart.. it works fine on portal.
The issue is just with SAP R/3 (Or ECC).

I want to create a report on Top-10 Ship-to-Parties based on the Open Orders. So 0SD_C03 Infocube will workout or shall i use any other cube.
And of Ship-to-Party and Open orders which Info object shall i use.
Please explain how to develop th report from scrach.

The definition of ship to depends from company to company, but I recommend you get the definition first. In most cases any order which has not been delivered or billed is open order. To determine that, you need Deliver status or Goods Movement Status to determine delivery and Billing status to determine billing status. Once you have those fields in your cube, then you can create the report.
Most of the cases, the Billing and delivery status would be in the item level analysis and your 0SD_C03 is more like summarized level.
Create a Restricted Key figure for one of the key figures with the above restriction using Delivery status and Billing status and get the top 10 customers.

Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - DAS, IR and Job Services Replication..

Dear All,
We are on Hyperion System 9.3.1 on Windows box and Repository in Oracle 10g Database. We have around 300 Interactive scheduled jobs.
When these jobs are getting executed Hyperion Services are getting hang and In logs we are getting "Process out of memory..".
In order to overcome "Process out of Memory.. Exiting" error. We need to replicate DAS, Interactive Reporting and Job Services on the same machine.
I am doing Hyperion's IR, DAS, JOB Services Replication in Development environment. To achieve the same I performed the following tasks :
# I have installed and configured Hyperion System 9.3.1 below components on MS Windows XP professional SP2 and Repository in Oracle 10g database.
Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1
Hyperion Reporting and Analysis BI+ Services
Hyperion Reporting and Analysis UI+ Services
Every thing was configured fine.
# To replicate the IR, DAS and Job Services. I started the Hyperion Reporting and Analysis BI+ Setup on the same machine then I select IR, DAS and Job Services.
# Next I started Configuration Utility. Which ask me to configure Database. I selected the same database which I used for BI Services previously. Database Configuration was successful.
# I changed the Port as below
Core Services to 7801 instead of 6801
Chaged the port for Job Service 7796 instead of 6796.
# Next started Service Configurator where System was showing one more Job Service (JF2_<hostname>) in Remote Service Configurator. And in Local Service Configurator System was showing new BI and DAS. Then I configured Data Sources in DAS.
# Started the Services.
Next I started the Scheduled Jobs. It is taking same time as earlier. In logs it is showing that Only JF2_<hostname> Service is getting used. System is not using JF1_<HOSTNAME> anymore.
I have few query regarding this.
1) Why Configuration Utility didn't ask for GSM host and Port? Do I need to configure it manually?
2) I have not chaged the port for DAS and IR Services. my concern is regarding port usage by new DAS and IR Services ? Do I need to configure it or It will be managed by system itself?
Please show me the direction. Any help would be highly appreciable.

We have replicated the Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Services by changing the port number of Replicated Services to non-default port.

Hyperion Reporting Studio 9.3.1

Any idea on how to import batch reports from previous Hyperion Reports. Currentyl, I have to import one report at a time and it is time consuming. Also, I would to know how to set up Web Forms and Data Grid in Workspace 9.3.1

I was wondering if you might know what my problem is! (Well hyperion related anyway).
I built an entire development environment for our 9.3.1 systems, including Financial Reporting. I attempted to export / import an entire zip folder full of reports; however, nothing happens on the import! When you supply the file, the status meter starts working and then it quickly ends without any success or failure message. Additionally, when I look in the folders, none of the reports have been imported. At first I thought the issue might have been related to the size of my zip file as I exported a large number of folders/reports. Unfortunately, I still receive the same issue when I try importing a much smaller file of ~10 reports.
Any thoughts as to what the issue might be?
