Hyperion shared services error 1051522 - Analytical Services failed to get

Hi All,
When I am trying to resync my securioty from HSS 11.1.1.1 to my essbase 9.3.1 I am getting this folowing error.
hyperion shared services error 1051522 - Analytical Services failed to get group's member tree with Error MSAD porvider could not be contacted
I have already checked for any corrupt application on essbase but alll the esssbase apps are fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

I start Shared Service from the start menu ->Administrative Tool -> services.
I checked Event log file and found below message after the service stops.
*"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( HyS9SharedServices ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service stopped".*

Error from EAS - "refreshing security from Shared Services failed"

Hi,
I was using Native only security in HSS for Essbase 11.1.1.3 and EAS allowed me to Refresh security from Shared Services. (Essbase security was already externalized to HSS.)
However, after I added "MS Active Directory", and provisioned a MSAD user to a native Planning group, EAS errors out with "refreshing security from Shared Services failed" .
I checked Essbase security and that MSAD user is not added to Essbase.
From Essbase Log I see:
Essbase failed to get roles list for [ESB:Analytic Servers:servername:1] from Shared Services Server with Error [32:1062:Failed to connect to the user directory [ HSS'sMSADname].
I then tried to remove MSAD from our H Shared Services and see if this problem goes away. However, MSAD still shows on the left panel menu in H Shared Services. How can I get rid of MSAD?
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Are you sure you have removed it from shared services, you may have just disabled it.
You must restart the shared services application server to apply any changes made.

Analytical Services failed to get user's parent group tree with Error

Hi,
We have a frequent errror during our weekly batch for an application.
The context:
- Essbase Administration Services we are using is version is 9.3.1.
- 8 applications are calculated during the week-end. The scripts executed are exactly the same for the 8 applications.
- For example let's say that 5 scripts are launched during the night in the batch for each application (script 1, script 2 ... script 5)
- App1 and App2 are launched alone and before the 6 others applications as these applications database are 3 x bigger (App1 is calculated alone, then app2 is calculated alone, then app3 to app8 scripts are launched in the same time).
The issue :
- We don't see any issue for app3 to app8, the calculation are executed without any problem from script1 to script5.
- But we have an error in App1 and App2 log when the bath execute script 4 and we see the following error in the server log **
"Analytical Services failed to get user's parent group tree with Error".
(** : we don't see any log for script 4 in the application log - it's like the server bypass script 4 to go directly from script 3 to script 5 )
Nothing special is done in script 4 but just an aggregation of the Year dimension (using a @SUM(@RELATIVE(Year,0)) calculation.
I think that there is may be a synchronization error with Shared Services but what is strange is that it's always for the same script 4 and the batch is launched at different time every week-end.
Can the issue be linked to the size of the database of applications (8 Gb) and difficulties for the processor to executes aggregation in a large database volume ?

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when sending an email to the user in workflow.
Did you delete the existing Connections before setting NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled?
If not, I recommend to delete and recreate your AD connections, then set NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled to true.
Or you can delete the original User Profile Service Application and create a new one, then set the NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled to true and start the User Profile Service Application
synchronization.

Hyperion Shared services Error (9.3.1)

I have registered the essbase analytic services with shared services. when i select the Analytic serviecs application through the shared services windows i am getting the hyperion shared services error "Unable to connect the application.Please contact the serevr administrator" and also i am geting Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)
Your requested host "server name" could not be resolved by DNS.
Please help.

Hyperion Shared Services Console: EPMCSS-09159 error

I have assigned Administrative rights in Hyperion Shared Services Console v11.1.2.2.0.66 that are identical to my rights, but they still get the following error when trying to grant access to Native groups:
"EPMCSS-09159: Failed to update user relationship to native groups. User "username" not authorized to update user. Contact Shrared Services administrator."
I am able to grant user access to Native groups with the same access. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me to try.

Yes, the user has the Provisioning role and can edit and save user roles, but they cannot update native groups that users are assigned too.

EPM V 11.1.3 ERROR BI+(CONFIGTOOL), REGISTER WITH SHARED SERVICES FAILED!!

Hi ,we installed EMP V 11.1.1.3 (AIX 6.1)in two servers in server1 we have essbase and shared services and in server2 we have interactive reporting , performace scorecard,workspace and web analysis,but when I run the configtool.sh,it sends us an error .REGISTER WITH SHARED SERVICES FAILED!!.All the other products are already configured .

Hyperion Shared Services Configuration Error with Weblogic 9.2

Hi All,
I have been trying to configure Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1 with Weblogic Ver 9.2
During configuration of the Database and the Application Server, I select Manual Configuration option on Weblogic 9
However, it returns a configuration failure everytime of the Database.
In my case, the DB used is SQL 2005.
Can someone, please advise me.

Hyperion Shared Services Database error

Hi there!
I am trying to install hyperion financial management and for this i already installed the following on windows 2003 server:
1. Installed Oracle application server
2. Oracle Database
3. IIS Web Server
4. Installed Hyperion shared services
5. Configured shared services without errors
After that i launched shared services page by http://orixacc:7777/shared
i got the page with the following errors
SEVERE ERROR: The Hyperion Shared Services database is not configured correctly. Please contact your system administrator
If anybody can help me to solve this problem, i will be thankful.
During confguration there was no error at all.

All the HFM applications are running properly.The problem is with the Shared Services only, even by giving the url i am getting the above error.previously its working fine.i am not getting any clue on this.even there is no trace on logs.

I had configured MSAD external authentication in Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1. I am also able to see the groups and users in the shared services.
I provisioned one of the group with Essbase Admin, and HSS Admin. but when i tried to login to the Shared services with a userID in that group, HSS is showing the error "User: XXXX, not found"

As informed earlier you could refer this link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html which will have the corresponding version support matrices (In your case 9.3.1 or 9.3.3) which will help you to find out which OS and which browsers can be used.

Externalise users to Shared Services fails

I recently tried to Externalise users to Shared Services. However, when I attempted to do this, I received the following error:

Analytical Services failed to get group with Error com/hyperion/css/spi/util/CSSGroupComparator
I tried to Externalise again and then I received this error:
[Thu Nov 13 15:33:20 2008]Local/ESSBASE0///Error(1051449)
Analytical Services failed to get group with Error [CSS Error: Invalid Argument: Principal passed is NULL]
And also, now whenever I tried to add a new user to Essbase thats authenticated externally, I receive this error:
[Fri Nov 28 16:56:20 2008]Local/ESSBASE0///Error(1051223)
Single Sign On function call [css_getUser] failed with error [CSS Error: Invalid Argument: Principal passed is NULL]
Note, it did partially succeed in externalising to shared services, as the Essbase Cubes & Project to appear.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve these errors and successfully externalise to shared services?

I have a similar situation at my end.
reconfigure EAS console as from the configuration utility or mere editing the properties of the administration server will do.
I tried editing the properties in the administration server but it dint help so should i go and reconfigure the EAS from the configuration utility .

Essbase Registration With Shared Services Fails...

-> First on B I configured Shared Services/Common Settings with its database(1st Time). I could see the green tick.

-> On A configure Essbase Server, here I get the error which shows Register with Shared Services failed.
Examining the configtool_err.log navigate to D:\Hyperion\logs\config folder I see the following message-
(Jun 10, 2009, 01:13:32 PM), com.hyperion.cis.config.wizard.RunAllTasksWizardAction, ERROR, Shared Services Registration task can not be executed because Shared Services instance is not available in Registry
(Jun 10, 2009, 01:13:42 PM), com.hyperion.essbase.config.EssbaseAgentTaskProcessor, ERROR, Error in executing the script to register Essbase as a service: exitCode = 1
I am using v11.1.1.1 on Win 2003.
Can anyone pls help me how to solve this??

Thanks John. I was so anxious to get a response from you. See, on the machine where only Essbase Server is installed( and 11g as well), on configuration page I get two options- Hyperion Foundation and Essbase. Now Hyperion Foundation( Configure Database and Common Settings) configuration is done properly with previously configured database.
Now in Essbase node there is Essbase and under it is Essbase Custom Configuration. when I try to configure it I get the error that Register to Shared Services failed. I could see green tick on Essbase Custom Configuration, but a red cross on Essbase.
What needs to be done John?? Please help.

Essbase registration to Shared Services failed - Hyp 11.1.1.3 on 2 Win XP

I have Hyperion 11.1.1.3 installation on two XP Pro machines. Pure system, with no global policies, firewalls, etc. My users are in Administrators group. Computers are not in any domain also.
On first server (called HypTSerwer1) there is: Foundation (Shared Services Web Application and OpenLDAP Service)
On second server (called HypTSerwer3) there are: Oracle DB (10R2) + Essbase Services Server 32-bit
I've configured Shared Services, I can log as admin to Shared Services Console without any problem. Validation report contains all greens.
But when I try to configure HypTSerwer3 (essbase) I get: Register with Shared Services Failed. Validation report contains one failure in Hyperion Foundation (
EXT: External Authentication Check Native Directory external authentication provider configuration
Error: Provider is not reachable
Recommended Action: Check Shared Services Configuration
)(OpenLDAP is green and runs fine)
In HypTSerwer3 in C:\Hyperion\logs\config\SharedServices_Security_Client.txt I found:

The part connect to at 28089* looks strange for me, as it sugests, that there is no server name, only port.
I really don't know what to do next. I reinstalled it many times, checked if all services are running. Deployed it with Tomcat or WebLogic 9.2. And always with the same result. When I install everything in only one machine, than it is working fine.

Just out of interest why have you used OAS as it is pretty much dead product now and is not used in future releases.
Anyway I am not sure why you have closed ports between those servers, you will end up spending a lot of time trying to open all the required ports between the servers.
Can you not get all the ports open for a time just to check it definitely is a ports issue.
It is probably also worth checking the following spreadsheet out - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-components-communications-fd-11-128629.xls
It highlights the ports used in communication.

The architecture is
Server 1: Shared Services
Server 2: Workspace
Server 3: Planning
Server 4: EAS & APS
Server 5: FR & Web Analysis.

I tried to telnet port 7777 & 28089 of server 1 from each server. The connection failed. I have asked the network team to open the required hyperion ports
Can anybody help me on this.
