Hyperlink button inside scrollable frame

Is it possible to put a button that scrolls with the content inside a scrollable frame ?
I've tried with the hyperlink overlay and several ways with the button overlay, also tried to define the button action after defining the scrolling content (Bob suggests this in a topic from some months ago) but nothing seems to work, it's if the button doesn't exist.
When putting the folio online to check it on the iPad I always got a 'upload failed network failure' message but when clicking the try again button the upload restarts and at the end I got the 'content uploaded' message. Don't know if that could cause the button troubles.

I've had no problem getting buttons in scrolling frames to work so without seeing your files, there's not much I can offer besides making sure the links are created properly.

  • Hyperlinked button in scrollable frame not working

    Hi all,
I'm working on a multi-article folio. The first article includes a scrollable frame that contains a group made up of one image and two buttons.
One of those buttons works correctly; that is, it is a mailto that brings up an email client when clicked.
The other button should open a web page in a separate window. However, when I click this button, I get the following error message:
    Cannot Open Page
This page cannot be opened because of a error.
The error is "A server with the specified hostname could not be found." (-1003).
The odd thing is that another button in the second article that links to the exact same URL *does* work correctly. That article does not use scrollable frames; instead, the button is on top of an image sequence. I have very carefully copied and pasted the URL from the button that does work to the button that does not work. No joy.
Here's a screenshot of the first article that shows the non-functioning button outlined in a blue frame:
I am using InDesign CS6 (version 8.0) and Folio Builer
    12.2.4.20120611_m_691037 8.0.7.21 .
    Your help is much appreciated!

It happened to me too and the only workaround was that I copied the hyperlink text and created a separated text box and pasted the link.
I then made that textbox "fot frame to content". After that I created a button out of it and assigned the URL for it. After all this I pasted the button in the text as text object.
Here is a screenshot. This text was within scrollable frame

  • Bug - Button inside scrollable frame

    Hi,
I got a button bug in my folio.
I made a scrollable frame with buttons inside it and the buttons controls a multistate.
When I tap the buttons they don't perform the action, it just change the color (click state).
It only performs the action when I tap again the same button.
What can I do to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Bob,
I am using ID CC 2014 and testing on an iPad.
In my article, I made two objects a MSO and a scrollable frame with some buttons inside it.
My scrollable frame has buttons only and allows the user to slide these buttons horizontally.
The buttons has an action to change the states of my MSO (go to state).
The problem is when I test this folio on my iPad, If I tap any button, the state of my MSO keeps the same and the button goes to the Click State.
I can only access other state of my MSO clicking a second time on the same button.
So the button keeps on the Click State and my MSO change to the State that was scheduled.
What can I do to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • Button in Scrollable Frame not working

Hey, I read lots of other questions concerning this topic but could'nt  find a sollution
I am working with CS5.5 and the newest version of the Folio producer. I have a page witz a Video, some buttons and a scrollable Frame where are some pictures inside. These pictures ae grouped together and then anchored inside of the frame. Scrolling these images works fine, but when convert the pictures into Buttons and and link them to a random website nothing happens when I click them.
Is it only possible to test this on the iPad? At this moment I can only test in the Content Viewer Deskop Application. I have already tried everything...putting layers to the front or background, defining the pictures as Buttons before or after putting them into the scrollable frame...nothing is changing...
Now I am despairing a bit. Hope somebody can help me!

Yes yes, I know. But makes it a difference with this issue? Problem is: I have the iPad I use for testing only from while to while and I dont get it back before monday. Not a very good starting point to build a folio, I know...

  • Hyperlinks in a scrollable frame moving on scroll

    Context:
Application for iPad, created in inDesign with DPS.
    Situation:
We have a table inserted into a vertically scrollable frame. On top, we have a series of links that correspond to the table text (please see screenshot below).
    Problem:
When the table is scrolled all the way to the top, the links shift and no longer correspond the text.
    Details:
The links and the table are grouped. They were cut and placed into a scrollable frame.
              The links work.
              The scrolling works.
The links correspond properly to the text when the content is in the 'top left'.
Scrolling partly up, the links are still okay.
Scrolling all the way up, and the links scroll further than the table, causing them to be off.
    Screenshot below:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bob. I think I found the problem -- the new guy hadn't removed the old scrollable frame from the text when he added the links, so the links were in a scrollable frame, and the text table was actually inside two scrollable frames.
Sorry to have wasted your time with something that turned out to be an error on our side.

  • Hyperlinks within scrollable frames

I'm trying to get hyperlinks within a scrollable text frame to work but it's not working properly in the content viewer. Is it possible to do them within scrollable content, and if so, is there a certain technique that works best? Thanks!

Sorry -- I've created a scrollable content layer that works properly, just with text scrolling down. I've selected the text and created a hyperlink using the hyperlinks panel (that works for the text in non-scrollable frames). When I view the issue in the Content Viewer on the iPad, the hyperlinks outside the scrollable frames work fine and open, but those within the scrollable frames do not. Is there a specific way I should be creating the hyperlinks within the scrollable frames that I'm not doing correctly? Thanks.

  • Buttons inside of scrollable frames

I have a series of photographs that act as buttons that go to a page number. In one article, I've grouped together these buttons and put them inside of a scrollable frame. They work fine.
Now, in another article (both of these articles are part of the same FOLIO) these buttons just go to MSOs. The MSOs have pan and zoom enabled (a lot of interactivity going on). I've cut and paste these buttons inside of a frame and made it scroll, but the buttons are non functional. Why are buttons functional in one frame and non functional in another?

An update to the DPS tools that addresses the issues with iframe/HTML and buttons in release 25 is now available. Updated tools can be downloaded by following the link for the appropriate InDesign and OS version at http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_dps_install_en.

Hi Bob, thank you for reacting.
I want to use the ‘onclick’ function of a button for the visual effect and a sound for the experience.
But somehow the onclick effect doesnt work.
I am using a picture as a button and on click the button go 50 %

    - navto

  • Scrollable frame is text: anchored object in text can not be button?

Following example: A textframe. With an anchored object (group). Paste textframe in other frame to make scrollable frame (pan only). Select anchored frame in already pasted into textframe, make button for anchored object (go to state).
Does not work, button does nothing (and yes a converted it to a button after the paste into other frame as last step).
    Not possible?
    DPS v18

If you want the button in the scrollable frame to control an MSO state, the button/scrollable frame needs to be part of the MSO. It is an InDesign limitation that buttons cannot control videos, audio clips, or MSOs unless they're on the same "level" in the document.

  • Scrollable frames. Buttons not working.

    Hello.
I have a problem with buttons in the scrollable frames.
I have a slideshow with a thumb's. Each thumb consist of MSO (non active icon and active icon) and clear frame - button to that MSO and to slide foto. The thumb's grouped and placed into the frame with horizontal scroll overlay effect.
That frame placed into another frame-pull out tab, which have vertical scroll effect. And when I pressed the button, slide fotos changes correctly, but button MSO not working.

Sorry for my english. I need help very much.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I understand that I can use two 'states'  of the buttons. And I tried it. But. Buttons renditions are raster images. And on the retina display we had bad quality. My target was to create vector buttons. With good quality on both displays.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi (again),
It seems that you built your stuff in a very complicated way.
    First, try to make simple!
You mixed MSO and buttons functions. Useless and unfonctional.
Yous should use only button panel, with two different 'states' ('Normal' and 'Clic').
See below (no MSO function used at all for the button):

Use the layer panel to easily select the objects you want to modify.

  • Scrollable frames and hyperlinks

    hi all!
is it possible to make a scrollable frame content (text only), and place hyperlinks in it?
i've tried several process, but the link doesn't works... any idea?
    thanks!

Ask here and make sure it's a detailed feature request along with WHY
    this would benefit all users.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
And note that this is strictly an InDesign limitation so make the
    request under InDesign.
Your voice can't hurt and with Creative Cloud, new features can be added
any time. No need to wait for major releases anymore.
InDesign CC will be available tomorrow.

  • Hiding a button underneath a scrollable frame

HI there, I'm looking to have a button underneath a scrollable frame that is revealed and becomes functional when an image is swiped away from the top level.
Is there a way to tap through scrollable frames or include transparent elements within the scrolling frame so that I can swipe away my image to find a button underneath?
    Cheers, Alex

Can't be done. The area taken up by that frame is live all the time.
You could try it with an MSO instead of a scroll. That would work.

  • Buttons underneath a Scrollable Frame

    Hi,
Is it possible to have object states/buttons underneath a scrollable frame?
I want a title page that is swiped to the side revealing buttons underneath...
Visually I can set it up, but as soon as you've swiped the title page to the side you can see the buttons but can't touch them.
    Any work arounds?
    Thanks.

This is normal, the interactive overlays will respect their layered order. Especially If you cover another object completely as with your scrollable frame.
Why not add the buttons to the left or right of your title page design and group it as one object that is then cut and pasted-into your scroll region. That way when you swipe away the title page it brings the buttons into view.

    Thanks

how can i use the button atwork as the poster image?

  • Problems with scrollable frames

I have an old DPS file that has videos inside a scrollable frame and they work fine. However, i am updating my files and in the new CS6/cc when i create the content, I group all the items, cut and paste into the smaller textframe and when i go to the Folio Overlays panel with the text frame highlighted, the option for scrollable frames is greyed out.  Video is highlighted but it will not allow me to create a scrollable frame.  Does anyone have a recommendation for what i am doing wrong.

You are correct, I missed your point.
I got it this time though and it worked!
    Wow, nifty work around.  Thanks.
Now that I have successfully embedded video within the scrollable frame, I am concerned about the 2 GB max from apple.
I researched streaming video and successfully tested this, however it seems the frame for the video needs to be scaled to the preferred viewable size because there is not an option for “play full screen”.  As you can see in the screenshot below, I am trying to place the video under the play button using streaming content.
Do you know if this is possible?
    Jill
