Hyperlink to a file

Hi,
I'm using Crystal reports 2008 version 12.1.0.892, And visual studio 2005.
I've created a website (.aspx) that contains a report, the report itself I've prepared in Crystal reports.
In the DB in the main table, I have a field - PATH, which is a path to a file on my computer or on a server
(for  example "c:\temp\test.txt")
Using "Format Field..."  I've made this field a Hyperlink to a file.
When I'm using Crystal reports and in the preview I click on the path the file opens,
but when I run the project on localhost or on a server and I click on the path nothing happens,
if I do a right mouse click and choose "Save Target As..."  I can save the file to my folders and then I can open it.
How could I open the file in the website the same way as in Crystal reports, with a click?
Thank,
Nadav.

Hi,
I checked it out but it doesn't work, when I insert in the formula a "javascript:...." the hyperlink doesn't seem to be a hyperlink on run time (the mouse cursor doesn't change, and now I can't even right click on the link and choose "save target as...")
The note said "These methods are not supported in version XI" and I'm using version XII, so perhaps that is the reason it doesn't work.
Regards,
Nadav.

Once user click on that hyperlink it should ask me to "Check-Out & Open' pdf file directly from sharePoint document library then it should automatically gets opened into 'Adobe Acrobat' where user will do some annotation/ comments in that pdf file & again 'Check-In' back his changes to SharePoint Document library.

    For instance, the forms.conf file:

...you can move your files in one of the existing physical directories - e.g: d:/icons - and call them with the following:
Web.show_Document('/forms/icons/document.pdf','_blank');But you can also add your own virtual/physical directory:
    # Virtual Path for documents
    AliasMatch ^/forms/documents/(..*) "d:\documents/$1"
    ...with the following code:
    Web.show_Document('/forms/documents/document.pdf','_blank');Francois

  • HOW DO I CREATE A HYPERLINK TO A FILE?

i have tried to do a hyper link to a file other than a website. one that i have saved on my computer such as a word document. i followed the directions and nothing happens once i have put in file and chosen the file. does it need to be in a certain folder to download? how would i do a hyperlink to an html file saved on my idisk?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you want the file to download immediately when the link is selected? If so first zip the file, Control-click on the file and select "compress file" in the menu. Next create your text link, select the text, go to the Inspector/Link/Link pane, click on Enable hyperlink" and select "File" from the Link To drop down menu.

  • Hyperlinks in PDF files exported from Numbers 3.1

The new Numbers is slooowly starting to rock. The new ability to sort and rearrange ranged area is awesome.
I work with PR and we make reports to our clients. These reports are delivered in PDF files.
I have a serious problem with Numbers 3.1 and the hyperlinks included in my report - an exported PDF file. The hyperlinks seems to be randomly mixed up. If I press a certain link for a URL, the PDF might redirect me to the correct page or .. might redirect me another page from the report.
When I work in Numbers 3.1 sheet everything works just fine, all the hyperlinks are opened correctly. The problem only occours when it's exported as PDF.
My current procedure is to work in Numbers 3.1 and once a report is ready to be handed over to the client, I export it in Numbers 2.3 format and then export it as PDF - where all the hyperlinks work correctly.
But it would be sooo much more professionel and cool if everything just worked perfectly with Numbers 3.1.
    - Has anyone experienced this as well?
    - Does any one know if it's a bug - or if it me who's doing something silly?
    Thanks for all ears.

    Hi Jakob,
BlackPlum suggets: "Thankfully, I noticed that in the Export... dialog box, (from the File Menu), you can select "Current Sheet" in the Layout field (this field defaults to "All Sheets", it's easy to miss). So select Current Sheet, and voila, you now have a pdf with multiple pages (and clickable hyperlinks!)."
Though my Export To ... PDF does not have such an option.
Hope a solution will come soon.

    B32 contains an active hyperlink.
    Menu > File > Print >
    And on the right,
    Now click on Print...
Now click on PDF (bottom left)
    Save as PDF

  • Hyperlinks in PDF files

We are having problems with hyperlinks in PDF files.
When clicking on a link in a PDF file the following message appears:
"The file and its viewer application are set to be launched by this PDF file. The file may contain programs, macros, or viruses that could potentially harm your computer. Only open the file if you are sure it is safe. If this file was placed by a trusted person or program, you can click Open to view the file."
There is a box that says "Do not show this message again", but selecing this box does not stop this message from appearing next time.
Is there any way to disable this notification??

  • Hyperlink to a file causes FTP error?

If I insert a hyperlink to a file that is located on my local hard drive, the site will not publish. iWeb says 'error communicating with the FTP server', and contact your service provider, etc.
If I remove the link, everything publishes fine.  I am assuming the file can be anywhere, and iWeb will create a copy and move it (FTP) to the web server. Or do I need to manually put the file on the FTP site myself?  If so, how do I refer to it in the iWeb designer?

If you are using the iWeb FTP to upload your site files they will be inside a folder as described here...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/URLs-Favicons.html
The PDF you upload needs to be outside of this folder or iWeb will overwrite it when you next publish changes. Create a folder and name it something like PDF-Downloads. Put the .pdf file inside and upload it to the root folder using an FTP app. The link will be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/PDF-Downloads/file-name.pdf
If you want the file to download when the link is clicked, create a Windows compatible zip file as described on this page...

  • Hyperlink to a file on a public drive for shared users?

It is common for us to email files (mostly Excel, Work, and PDF documents) back and forth between users on our home network.  Our setup is one iMac that has a public folder that two macbook pros add, remove, and edit files on.  Rather than emailing the document and saving another copy, is there a way to hyperlink to the file on the drive and just send a link?
    Thank you

Pages doesn't support hyperlinks to local files. If you can make your server appear to have a URL address, your problem is solved.
Send Feedback to Apple from the Pages menu and tell them that you would like to be able to link to local files.

  • Hyperlinks to pdf files not working when project is exported out as SWF and uploaded to server

    hI all
I'm using CS5 and i have hyperlinks to pdf files in my indesign project. However when i export to SWF, although the links work locally, they do not work when i upload all the relevant folders and files and test it from a server the links to the pdfs can not be found, the error messages indicates its looking for the files on my hard drive. I have also noticed that if i copy all the relevant folders and files and exported swf to a different directory and then launch swf from there the links do not work there either.
Other than seperately uploading each pdf indvidually on to the server and then creating a hyperlink to it from the local indesign project i don't know what else to do.
    Any advice much appreciated.

I have your same problem, but didn't consider uploading the PDFs and then linking to them. I'm willing to try it. Let me know if you ever found a better way, ok?
    Thanks.

  • How do I create a hyperlink to another file?

How can I create a hyperlink to another file on my Mac?

Do you really mean "Hyperlink" as in a web page link to your file?
Or do you want a Mac OS X Alias icon placed in a different folder or on your desktop to a file?  Hold Command-Option keys while dragging the file to a new folder, will create an Alias.
Or perhaps a Unix Symbolic Link (similar to a Mac OS X Alias, only different).  This is done from a Terminal session using "ln -s /path/to/your/file /path/to/folder/where/symlink/to/be/placed"

  • Password-protecting a hyperlink to a file?

Is it possible to make a hyperlink to a file password-protected in iWeb 3.0.3? For example, I'd like to make a portfolio on my website downloadable only to select clients. Thanks.

Since iWeb can’t password-protect individual pages, consider posting your portfolio on posterous.com and text or image hyperlink to it. There's also a way to link to an external site (such as Posterous) directly from iWeb's navigation bar.
You can set a password on your Posterous site so only the readers you want can see it. They don't need to create an account to see your site, just enter the password you give them. Simple. More information about private sites can be found HERE.

  • Hyperlinks to PDF files only work in Preview

I cannot get any of my hyperlinks to PDF files to work in my
ouput WebHelp file. The links work fine in Preview, but not in the
actual output. And the files have been added to the baggage folder,
and can be seen in the Baggage folder. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Retso
Sorry for not replying earlier. I've been conducting a
    RoboHelp HTML class all day.
Are you using RoboHelp HTML 6? If so, there is a new option
labeled "Mark of the web" that could be nailing you. When you
generate your WebHelp by double-clicking the layout, see if this
option is enabled. If so, disable it and your PDF links should
begin working. Note, however, that by DE-selecting this option, you
could start seeing the Yellow Information bar as Internet Explorer
ever so helpfully deems this as a security threat and blocks your
WebHelp until you click it and allow the content to be shown.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I get working hyperlinks in PDF files?

Hyperlinking procedures as laid down by Pages 09 work.  Conversion fromPages format to PDF format work - in principle.  But when one clicks on created hyperlink in PDF file, nothing happens.  So, no one outside of the working Pages community can go further.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

    Pages '09 ≠ Pages 5.01.
You have the bugs and reduced features of Pages 5, the version you recently installed.
Pages '09 should be in your Applications/iWork folder.
    Use that instead.

              } catch (IOException ioe) {

              document.close();
Help me how to read the Hyperlinks from the PDF file using java ...
    Thanks in advance,
    With Regards,
    J.Imran

Instead of cross-posting unformatted code you could have taken a look at the API, because there you might have come across a method named getLinks...Even though it's not documented, I really suspect that it will return the Hyperlinks on a given page.

  • Hyperlink the word files on DMS server

    Hi ,
I want to hyperlink the word files on DMS server, whenever I open the file in edit mode I am not able to find other file while doing hyper linking.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Amarnath Dube

    Hi,
As I know, You can't open the hyperlinks in DMS itself. This will work in front end PC only.
But if you just want to link, you can do one thing, You can link your DIR/Document with another DIR/Document from the object link option.
In object link tab of a DIR, there is option for link another DIR.
