Hyperlink to a location within a page

Hi,
I'm trying to create a way to hyperlink to an image WITHIN a long page. Is there any way to make a link that "jumps" to a given location within a page, instead of to the top of the page?
I'm using iWeb Version 1.1.1

I guess I'm misunderstanding the question, then.
I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish with this task. How does Excel factor into this? What value is it to have a report of x and y coordinates for an Acrobat page? This sounds like something you'd need for html coding, not a print document. If so, the pages should be exported as html pages, not Acrobat pdf files, from your original. I only ask because I have a feeling you might be creating way more work or expense for yourself than you need to be. The more information you can provide, the better advice you'll probably get.
If you need a report of x and y coordinates, I'm thinking Acrobat is the wrong application. It's not really a web design app. I don't have Dreamweaver here at my office, but I seem to remember that all that information is available if you open your pages in Dreamweaver, and there may be a way of extracting a report with just what you need. You might try asking your question on the Dreamweaver forum, if that's the route that makes more sense for what you're trying to do.

Ap div locking location within web page

I am relatively new to web design but would like some help
with locking the ap divs to a position on the web template.
if I align left for the page everything appears to work ok.
When I align centre then this is where the problem starts -
the main page centres ok but the ap div boxes with text etc
although in design view it is ok when I test on IE the ap boxes are
to the left of the main page.....- any help would be appreciated.

Your problem lies in not understanding what an AP div is. The
AP stands
for "absolutely positioned". An AP div with a top position of
50px and a
left position of 100px will always be 50px from the top and
100px from
the left of the page. It never moves, because it's absolutely
positioned.
Not only is it absolutely positioned, it's removed from the
flow of the
rest of the page. So, if you have other elements in your
page, they will
act totally independently of the AP div(s).

How do I move a page to a new location within iBooks Author?

I've just started to play around with iBook Author, and I can't seem to discover how I can do something as basic as move a page to a new location within the chapter, or outside the chapter for that matter. It won't allow me to drag and drop it, and there is no menu selection for it. I also would like to be able to insert a new page at the current cursor location, and that doesn't work either.
Has anyone had any luck doing either of these tasks?

You can't. You can move entire chapters or sections but can't move individual pages because of the reflow capability. It is mentioned in the help and the FAQ I believe.

Hyperlinks to folder locations don't work

I'm having trouble creating functioning hyperlinks to folder locations on local or network drives. I've tried this both in InDesign CS3 and InDesign CS1 on Windows XP.
I select the text, create new hyperlink, choose 'URL' as Type, then paste the filepath into the URL box (e.g. D:\). If my text tool is within the hyperlink text of the InDesign document, then I click on 'Go to hyperlink destination', it will open a new Windows Explorer window with the correct destination. If I export to PDF, however (making sure to check 'Bookmarks' and 'Hyperlinks' to be included), these hyperlinks to local or network drives don't work. I get errors like 'Cannot find 'd:%5C'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct'.
The other hyperlinks to web addresses seem to work fine. Does anybody have ideas on this?

I should have read that more closely.
It doesn't seem to apply. The only reason that would matter is if you were running the SWF-output from Captivate locally.
ALWAYS test your product from the web to avoid any such security issues.
But yes, if you're putting the published file on a local/network drive, then that security change will need to be applied and, yes, for every computer that accesses the file.
You definitely want to distribute from an HTTP location.
I did hope the first part of that article would help. They're not difficult to setup once you find the option. Just highlight some text and right-click to setup the hyperlink...right?

Adding sharing options from within a page

We would like to add sharing options like "Tweet it" or "Email it" from within a page and not dependant on the viewer
is this doable ?
If not, can we have a button inside the page which triggers the viewer's sharing option ?

You'll have to code it as a hyperlink yourself that navigates out of DPS to the browser to do the share. I believe National Geographic does this on some pages with a Twitter and FB icon. There's no way to trigger the share menu via a button on the page.

Dragging to select multiple objects within a Pages document

I am trying to select multiple, closely spaced objects (text boxes, lines, shapes, etc) within a Pages document. They are located ~1/3 of the way from the left margin of the document, and there are objects both to the left and the right of this group.
I know that you can click outside of the Pages document with the mouse, then drag into the document to select multiple objects. However, is there any way to drag to select multiple objects without first clicking outside the document?
Command click is a pain in the butt because I inevitably mis-click and have to start again to select all objects. I don't like having to drag in from the margin and then command-click to de-select objects I don't want.
is there not an option to just shift-click to form a selection box around objects within the document? It seems like there should be a simple solution to this, but I have yet to find it.

Isn't it just! The people who created Pages should get a right spanking on this fundamental stuff up.
All you can do is try again. I find myself repeating the same task over and over in Pages simply because you can't easily grab things.
When you do +command click+ try and get the edges of objects, otherwise Pages thinks you are still trying to click inside the object.
Once you have +command drag lassoed+ multiple objects you can +shift command click+ to unselect the ones you don't want. Again a problem if they are close to each other.

TS1589 my airport stopped working when i changed its location within the same network (wired)

Please help....I replaced my airport express with an apple tv and moved the airport to a different location within the same wired network and the light continues to flash amber. I know the ethernet connection is good and I have tried restarting the modem/router/airport with no change in status and when I look in the airport utility software, it reports that it cant see it. When I move back to its original location, the light goes green. What happened and how can i correct this issue? Thanks very much for any assistance.

the weird thing is that all Ive done is move its pysical location....my house has ethernet ports in every room all running through a common upstream router which in turn is connected to a dsl modem. At this point Ive hard reset the AX back to factory settings....now the AX utility sees the AX but shows me that it has a total of 3 problems. 1) Internet connection...2) no DNS servers...3) default settings. When I highlight "default settings" the info reads "this AX base station has default settings. You should configure it to connect to the internet, secure the wireless network, and provide a password. I assume that if I correct this, the other 2 troubles should take care of themselves. At the bottom of the page there are buttons that say...help, revert, update and a drop down menu that says default settings, recovered settings, create profile, edit profiles. not sure where to go from here. thaks for taking the time to help me.

MS Vista Ultimate 64 Bit.
When using my Linux PC to try and locate drivers for another PC, the website just keeps sending me in circles and never displays the drivers to download. Seems like in the past this has been a problem too. This occures with latest version of Firefox-37.0.1 and the current version of Chromium-37.0.2062.120 Built on Debian 7.6, running on Debian 7.8 (281580) (64-bit).

Select: Support | Download Drivers
Under 'Drivers and Downloads' tab
- enter product id: officejet pro 8500 A909a
- Select 'Go'
Expand the '+' that lists one link and select it.
None of the following links give a driver download!
- Troubleshooting
- How To
- Product Info.
- Users Guide
- Video Tutorials
- More Options
Maybe one of the options should be 'Driver Downloads'.

Using a different default component state within each page state

I am using a custom component in multiple page states but would like to have a different default state (for the same custom component) within each page state.
Is there anyway to use a different default component state within each page state .
When I change the default state at a component level it seems to go across all my page states. Any solutions?

I think my brain is just catching up

I have lost my ability to scroll within a page...

Before Mavericks, I could take my cursor with either my TrackPad or Magic Mouse and move the contents of a page up/dn with finger movement within the page on my 27" iMac. Today - I have to go to the edge of the page and manually move the slider .. which is like I did with my Classic II. I checked all the prefs in the system and browsers to no avail.
I just checked my older iMac in the other room running 10.7 ..the Magic Mouse there works just fine within the pages, as does my laptop's trackpad. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Outlook express, add a hyperlink to a location on a windows network,how2?

In Outlook you can add a hyperlink to a location on a network how can this be done on a mac in mail?
for example I get set this

Looking at the plain text it looks like this

On the PC Outlook, you go to insert hyperlink then navigate the folder on the network, and click OK.

OK thanks. That number is always a theoretical "best" figure and the actual bandwidth is usually about half of that number.
So call it 50 Mbps that is really available to the Express. The "extend" setup now takes away another half of that on average, so the Express must share 25-30 Mbps among 5-6 devices or so....maybe an average of 5-6 Mpbs per device.
That's less than half of the bandwidth on the old 802.11b system.
I imagine that there is just not enough bandwidth available for this to work well.
The AirPort Extreme can assign IP addresses for up to 200 devices and the Express is operating in bridge mode, so connected devices are being assigned IP addresses by the AirPort Extreme. The Express acts a "pass through" device in this type of setup.
My opinion is that it is a bandwidth issue and the Express simply shuts down or locks up when it cannot handle the load that it is being asked to deliver.
Sorry, but I really see no workaround here other than an Ethernet cable run from the AirPort Extreme to the location of the switch. Using Gigabit switches, now you have probably 8-10 times as much bandwidth or more for each device....about 50-60 Mpbs per device.
You may of course, get some other opinions from other users on this.

All the information I have seen about Named Anchors deals with information that is contained on the same page. I am looking to go to a specific location on a different page. Is this possible using Named Anchors? If so, how?
Sure it is.
Place a named anchor on your destination page near the bottom of your page for this test. And name your anchor 1.
On the parent page, your link will look like this:
<a href="some_page.html#1">this is a link to named anchor 1</a>
Save both pages and test in browser.
