Hyperlink to a shortcut within pdf doesn't work

I've written a document in Word 2010 on PC, and used the function within Word to save as PDF.
The document contains lots of hyperlinks. Some of those point to shortcut (.lnk) files on the local network. While these hyperlinks work fine in Word, in Reader XI I'm asked to allow (which I do) and then... nothing happens!
I enter the link to the shortcut when creating the hyperlink in Word as "\\mydomain\myfolder\my file.doc - shortcut.lnk". When you point at the shortcut in Word the tooltip puts "file:///" in front of the path. In Reader it has "file:" in front (without the slashes) and has turned all the back slashes into forward slashes. I've tested with a link to an actual document rather than a shortcut (.lnk) file and while it still changes the link text as noted, the hyperlink now works in Reader although it asks twice for confirmation to follow it. So it seems like the .lnk file is the problem somehow.
Has anyone encountered this and is there a solution?

Button in PDF doesn't work

Hi,
I have create a button which I would like to display in my PDF.
Below you will see the settings I've used:
The problem I'm having is that the button doesn't work. Nothing happens when I open my PDF and click on it.
Upon exporting I have select to include Bookmarks, Hyperlinks, Non-Printing Objects, Visble Guides and Baseline Grids. The Interactive Elements settings are set to: Inlcude Appearance.
Does anyone know why this is not working?

Embedded audio in PDF doesn't work

Hello,
I have a PDF-file with embedded MP3-files. I am up-to date with the latest versions of adobe reader and flash player. I just updated the software, even restarted the computer. But the audio in my PDF doesn't play..nothing clickable...
I am using Macbook Pro and running mountain Lion.
Anybody anny suggestions?

Yes I have, originally I always used preview to read pdf's. I have now installed acrobat reader, because of this audio problem. But in Acrobat it doesn't work either.

Pdf links inside another Pdf doesn't work

I am using Adobe Pdf Reader X(10.1.0). I am creating a PDF with html links embedded in it.
Links to normal files works properly (Like server/idcontent/new/ir.html)
But links to another pdf file doesn't work(Like server/idcontent/new/ir.pdf). When clicked on a .pdf link nothing happens. But where as other links works perfectly.
Can any one help me whether I am missing any setting in my Adobe Reader.

Hyperlink to message in Alret email doesn't work

In our dev environment, the hyperlink in the alert email for message in RWB doesn't works by clicking, although the copy pasting the link in IE takes me to correct message in RWB.
When i noticed, the message id is not part of hyperlink. Can any one suggest how to fix it so that message id also becomes part of hyperlink.

Somehow hyperlinked whole page, now navigation bar doesn't work

I was trying to add a hyperlink to the bottom of my page, and somehow made the whole page the hyper link. Now my navigation bar doesn't work. When I scroll with my mouse to show me if there is something hiding the navigation bar, the whole page including the navigation bar seems to be one image. How do I fix this? I tried starting a new page, but have trouble formatting the columns properly again. HElp??? if you want to see what I'm talking about, its the Resume page that has the inactive nav bar, and the Resumee page that I can't format right... http://web.me.com/lauren.kelly

Just checked the Resume page and the entire page, except for the navbar is a link to download your resume as a Word document. The file didn't have an extension but I added the .doc extension and it opened in Pages as a Word document.
If you don't want the document to be downloaded check the page in iWeb to see if you see the hyperlink icon somewhere on the page. Select the object it's attached to and use the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink pane to remove it as a link.
The links in the navbar are working as they should. It's just the body of the page that has an "unwanted" (?) link.

IDS export PDF doesn't work

I try to apply a PDF-preset for a PDF export. But IDS throws a 404 if I append any parameters to the exportFile function:
That works:
doc.exportFile( ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File("c:\\temp\\test.pdf"));
Neither this works:
doc.exportFile( ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File("c:\\temp\\test.pdf"),false, "[PDF/X-3:2002]");
nor that
doc.exportFile( ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File("c:\\temp\\test.pdf"),false);
in both cases IDS throws a 404.
Can anybody explain what's wrong?

You are using ID Desktop parameters.
IDS does not have a "showingOptions" parameter.

Hyperlinks within .pdf documents not working IMac Safari

I am working with a website that displays several .pdf documents. The documents contain hyperlinks to urls. Everything works fine in other browsers, but in Safari, these hyperlinks do not work. The cursor does not change when it enters the hyperlink space, and nothing happens if the link is clicked. I am using an IMac running OS 10.6. 8 and Safari 5.1.10. I have tried both the native (Preview) option and a plug-in. Neither makes any difference. Can anyone suggest a fix other than abandoning Safari?

Suddenly Printing a PDF to a PDF Doesn't Work

I'm currently working in Windows XP Pro 64-bit, InDesign and Acrobat Pro 9.5 (CS4).
We create a dozen 300-page catalogs each year in InDesign CS4, then create 300dpi CMYK PDFs to send to our commercial printer. We also create low-resolution PDFs for a website that posts them for us. In order to create the low-res PDFs, I have always just printed the 300dpi PDFs to a 72dpi PDF from within Acrobat Pro. I use a preset I created and this has always worked flawlessly. Today when I tried it, I got an error message pop-up that said it could not be printed, then another message pop-up that said "no pages were selected to print". I tried several PDFs and none of them worked.
The caveat might be that I'm not sure if I have tried to print any low-res PDFs since we upgraded our computers and 64-bit XP Pro. Does anyone know if there's a known issue with running Acrobat Pro 9.5 (CS4) in 64-bit?
Does that make sense?

OK. I just checked this on another computer running XP Pro 64-bit and on the one machine that's still running XP Pro 32-bit. It worked on the 32-bit and did NOT work on the 64-bit, so it must be AA 9.5 running in the 64-bit environment. I read something for version 8 about a .dll file not being installed during the installation process because the installer is 32-bit and it couldn't find the file, and I found the file, but the installer doesn't run because it says that "Adobe Acrobat Spedloader (or something like that) is running. The only problem is that I can't quit it. It doesn't even show up in the Task Manager. If anyone knows where this file is supposed to be, I could drag it there manually.

Mail PDF doesn't work

Hi,
To convert a file to PDF and send it by email, I use to simply use the Mail PDF option in the print menu.
Since I upgraded to Mac Os X Lion, the option works for a while and then stops working. Then, once I click on "Mail PDF", it doesn't even switch to Apple Mail.
Restarted mail, restarted the application... No good.
Restarted the computer, worked for a while and then stopped again. I did this a lot of times and it always ends up not working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I can work around this, but it is frustrating on the long term.

I am seeing exactly the same problem you describe, but only on my MacBook Pro.
In my case, I am using the Numbers application on Mac OS X 1.7.2 (Lion) on a MacBook Pro (mid 2009) 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3. The Mail PDF option works for a while and then stops working. When it stops working in Numbers, it also stops in all other applications. The console log does not shot any hints as to what might be wrong.
Using the Numbers application on a MacBook Air (1.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR), with the same Max OS X version (1.7.2 Lion) has no issues at all. Mail PDF works fine on this machine from all applications.
Has anyone heard more about this issue since the last post on Aug 26?

Stop(); within movieclip doesn't work and all my other code doesn't run

Hey guys,
I've got a movieclip which has the code stop(); written within it, so that it doesn't play unless i interact with it. What happens now is that when i run the swf file, the entire movie keeps looping, and all my other code just doesn't run.
I've named my instances buyButton and so on but yeah, somehow it just ignores all my code and just loops. Help!

In the main timeline it's just one frame yes. So on my main timeline there is a movieclip. Within that movie clip is an animation that adjusts the 'shine' on it. That animation is 20 frames long and i put a stop(); on the first frame inside that movieclip, with the intention that when i publish the swf, the movieclip doesn't loop, but should stop on the first frame. Only if i start to move my cursor over the movieclip, then it has feedback, which is to play the 'shine' animation. That sorta thing. So i had some code in the actionscript layer which edits the text property of the movieclip and it changes from "Click to Buy"(as shown in the screenshot) to "Buy a Shirt!".
However, when i publish the swf file, the other code, like the one which changes the text property of the movieclip is ignored and also the stop(); function within that movieclip too. And i end up having a movieclip which constantly loops within itself. Other code which i put in, like setting the buttonMode = true and useHandCursor = true are also ignored. The odd thing is that there are no error in my output window. and my publish settings are set to use Actionscript 3.

[IDCS4] Space bar shortcut for hand doesn't work

I am experiencing following problem:
I have written a startup script that shows a floating panel (it is a window that uses 'palette' as a type description). I also added menu item and listeners to show/hide it (in menu window). Inside the panel there is a flex application that communicates with InDesign via ExternalInterface (no PatchPanel). Whenever I start InDesign with this script as startup script suddenly spacebar stops working as a shrotcut that temporarily changes used tool to Hand Tool. Even closing InDesign and removing startup script and restarting InDesgin doesn't help, I need to logout and login again to make spacebar work. I am experiencing this issue on MacOSX 10.4 on Intel Mac, InDesign 6.0.5 and script is written in ExtendScript.
I also found that running the startup script from scripts panel seems to solve the problem, but this is rather undesired, since the panel should be available from InDesign startup...
Has anybody of you experienced the same behaviour? Maybe there is some sort of programatic fix? It drives me mad, because I am used to spacebar as a temporary hand. Of course if there is no other fix, I'll need to find some sort of hack that performs initialization after startup, but this is rather undesired

After some investigation I can tell that aforementioned bahaviour is most probably caused by opening the INDD file by using AIR API (file.openWithDefaultApplication()). When file is opened by user this behaviour is not observed, but when INDD is opened from AIR application, it results with disabling spacebar shortcut. What is even more strange, the shortcut is disabled not only in InDesign, but also in Illustrator. Photoshop works fine...
Geez, Adobe, you're giving me so much headache...

OS X Microsoft Remote Desktop - Remapping shortcut CMD+W doesn't work as intended

Seeing the follwing issue in Microsoft Remote Desktop on OS X:
Changing shortcut for Close (window) CMD+W for the application in OS X System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts doesn't disable the original CMD+W shortcut as is expected. After changing, CMD+W is still closing windows.
This is working as expected for changing Quit Microsoft Remote Desktop from CMD+Q to other shortcut, where CMD+Q is not quitting the application after the change has been made.
This is unfortunate, as my "instinct" to quit applications on remote desktop when working from my Mac is to use CMD+W. This instead closes the remote desktop connection.

Pages/Apple-PDF doesn't work in the print-shop

We produce a flyer. Therein is a picture that we changed to 20% (visibility) only, another picture is laying over it (or partly laying over it) with 70%, there is another one laying over it with 90%.
We produce a pdf of our pages-file.
We controle it with Preview - very well.
We controle it with Adobe-Reader 9 - very well.
We sent it to be printed: the upper picture with 90% is not visible on the machines of the printing-shop.
With different printing-shops we had the same problem also with different flyers: Always the upper picture is not visible for them.
Where may be the problem? What can we do?

Transparency is supported from PDF 1.4 (Acrobat 5) and higher. Transparency is not supported in PDF 1.3 which is what OS X saves out and it is not supported in PostScript. Therefore, you need to render ('flatten') the transparency manually before saving out a printing master.
We sent it to be printed: the upper picture with 90% is not visible on the machines of the printing-shop.
In order to produce a printing master, you need to use the PDF/X-3 filter in the Apple ColorSync Utility. And if you ask, 'How do we use the Apple ColorSync Utility to produce a printing master?' then first search this forum for other threads on this subject.
