  • New MacBook Pro appearing with Iphoto, Imovie and Iweb all 2008 versions

I bought a MacBook Pro in March 2013 (new from best buy) and it's running os x 10.8.4. However, for some reason the Iphoto, Imovie and Iweb are all 2008 versions. I used an external hard drive to transfer from my old macbook to the new macbook. What went wrong? Why wasn't the new version of Iphoto, Imovie and Iweb on my computer?
Should I back up onto my external again and reinstall? I had a lot of trouble transfering the data over in the first place because some security software from my school was messing with the transfer, however once it was deleted everything went smoothly. Thoughts?

You migrated your files from an older computer. If you migrated apps, iLife applications were transferred, so you have an old iLife edition.
The only thing you have to do is to open Finder, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete iLife apps. Then, open the App Store, go to Purchases tab and download iLife applications free of charge. All Macs come with iLife applications free of charge

  • Tutorials on using Keynote to enhance iMovie or IWeb projects

Are their any tutorials, urls, etc. that go into depth about using Keynote to improve iMovie or iWeb projects? In other words, using the features of Keynote to produce some cool object that is then placed in one of those programs?
I have been doing some already, but suspect I am barely scratching the surface of what Keynote could do for iMovie or iWeb.
    Thanks
    bob

The best way I've found to make a movie from a presentation on the iPad is with the app Explain Everything. You can send your keynote file to Explain Everything as a pdf and then narrate and annotate while recording audio. In the end Explain Everything outputs mpeg-4 videos that most any device can view. We use it heavily for the classes I teach.

  • Hyperlinks works fine in iweb, but not on web after upload to ftp

I have set up hyperlinks in iweb, but they don't work in RockMelt, Firefox or Safari.  I'm using an ftp under the domain name of the website.  Any ideas on why this won't work?

    This covers the whole page...

  • Hyperlinks in QT for IWeb

Apologies for cross-posting to the IWeb forum.
I created an animated text page in Keynotes to match a page in my website, and added a single hyperlink below the animation to enter the site. All play fine in Keynote. I then exported a QT movie using Manual Advance settings. Opening the movie in QT directly from the Finder works correctly: the hyperlink opens the desired webpage. However when I import this Keynote QT movie into IWeb, the hyperlinked text is not longer text, but part of the image in the QT movie. It can't be clicked on as a link nor is there the ability (it seems) to change this in IWeb.
FYI - The alternative of adding the link in IWeb in FRONT of the imported QT movie does not work. The hyperlink works with the QT movie correctly in IWeb, but when published, the link itself is transparent within each of the browsers (Safari, Firefox, IE).
    Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Did a re-export for giggles. Don't know what changed (nothing), but for some reason it's now all working fine. The hyperlink in the AT animation works as it's supposed to.
    Many thanks

  • Hyperlinks not selecting in iWeb

Inside iWeb. I can't click on my links to change them.
My current solution is to highlight them and hit the Enter button twice to get access to the text box inside the link. (which in turn lets me go to the inspector menu and change the link) But when I do that it deletes what's there. So if I happen to click outside the box and then try to change the name I go through the same process!!
It use to be that I could click on the link, change it and the text without the stupid highlighting portion.
Is this happening to anyone else??? Has anyone figured out the problem???
Also when I publish the site it attaches a link to the text box, when I only want the text to be the link. Making the link have two different links.
I hope this makes since so someone can help me out. =*

If you're referring to text based hyperlinks or hyperlinks within an object. With text based links you have to put the curser one the text and double click on it twice to get to the text itself. Then click and drag to select the text for the link. When I try selecting the box the hitting the Enter key nothing happens.

  • IMovie to iWeb viewing problems

Thanks to earlier posts I have now been able to upload a movie onto my MobileMe website, I’ve done this by opening it in iMovie and going to Share, Media Brower, Mobile and Publish, then doing the approprite thing in the iWeb Inspector. I have not added a download option.
I can now open this myself, although both it and music files initially take some time to download. However, my fan club have had mixed experiences.
Most Mac users have no trouble, but one with an iMac (not sure which OS) gets sound but no vision.
Some PC users are OK, especially if they have QuickTime, but others have merely reported that they cannot get the video to play. Some of these can play audio tracks.
Two PC users have had serious problems. One said that his computer started to download; this was taking a long time and he had no way of stopping it. Also, the music tracks had no play bar.
I have been told about Vimeo and I may try that if all else fails. And I appreciate that some PC users are dinsoaurs, as one reply put it!
Any help and advice would be appreciated.

WIndows users are more likely to have the flash plugin...

The problem is that iOS devices like the iPhone don't support it.
Using YouTube or Vimeo overcomes this problem. I prefer Vimeo and you can upgrade to a Pro account to get rid of the logo , advertising etc....

  • Hyperlink URL for an iweb page for press release

I am writing a press release in Word and I want to create a hyperlink in Word directly to the third page on my iweb site which is http://web.mac.com/decouvrir/mamaloosemusic/Welcome.html. But that adress is for the welcome page. But I want to get directly to another page.
The other page name on my navigation bar is Mamaloose, but the internal title in my iweb list is "mamaloosecorpinfo". What should the resulting URL be in order to go directly to that page?

Okay, firstly you need to sort out your site name. Is this your site here? http://web.me.com/decouvrir.
Your url link does not work, so there is something wrong somewhere. Go into iWeb and check your site name and perhaps re-publish. Also, you need to be using web.me.com and not web.mac.com as you have.
Also, if you are linking from a Word document, it is not the navigation menu that you need to link to, it is the page name from the url and you need to link to in iWeb - so it does not matter what your navigation link is, if you named your page "mamaloosecorpinfo", then your page will be this that followed by .html and it is this that you need to link to, to take you to that page of your website.

  • Adding Hyperlinks to photos in iWeb

Using a photo template in iWeb, I am having trouble adding hyperlinks to photos as well as to the 'captions' beneath the photos... is adding hyperlinks simply not possible in a photo template or available only on selected templates?

  • IMovie, Garageband, iWeb not working?

Hey everyone, I recently got my macbook back from repairs (RSD). Everything hardware wise could'nt be better. However recently when tring to use iMovie, it loads the file I plan on working on then doesn't do anything. Just quits. No "quit unexpectly" pop-up either. I tried other iLife apps and Garageband did the same exact thing. In iWeb, it starts up but it won't let you do anything (creating a new page, etc.) Iphoto and iCal seem to work just fine. Any suggestions, or do I have to do a restore and repair?? Thanks everyone.

    Hi, NotreDewey.

  • IMovie to iWeb

I have been reading a lot of posts trying to learn why my iMovie's quality changed when I burned a DVD in iDVD. I did not export to iDVD or Quicktime; I opened iDVD and then dropped my movie into the theme. But I did share with iWeb on my Mobile Me web site before dropping it into iDVD. Could that have changed the quality? And, how to get my quality back? I have lots of photos, plenty of ram space, and do not want to start over.
    Thanks.

    hey there fcgiles,
if you haven't deleted the iMovie project up can just share it to iDVD. sending an iMovie project to the web dramatically reduce the quality because of a high compression rate to send a lot of info(audio, video, codec), overlowest capable bandwidth-usually dial up, low speed DSL.
    good luck.

  • IMovie in iWeb website on MM

I make movies (slide shows with added motion and music) in iMovie and send them directly to iWeb. For years I have done this with no problem.
More recently I find that the resulting movies cannot be played using Safari on an Intel Mac with Snow Leopard (the quicktime logo is displayed where the movie should show but nothing happens). They play fine on PCs (browser unknown) and on Power PC Macs using Safari.
I'm hoping this is a simple version problem, but I could use your help.
    Thanks, Barrie

If you have problems opening the Domain file with iWeb the following may help:
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
    delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Optionsmenu to bring the this window:

  • SWF/Flash hyperlink not working in iweb

    Hi guys,
Really really stuck with this one...
I have a flash file of which i have placed wihin my iweb site (the flash file shows and operates perfectly)
However - the SWF's hyperlink will not work within iweb.
The flash file itself is fine and the nyperlink within it works perfectly when opened within a browser.
Here is the code below - if anybody has any help I would be so grateful.
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000" id="obj1" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/ flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" border="0" width="800" height="600"><param name="movie" value="http://droprecords.net/drop_records/drop_circle_1_CS5_network.swf"><param name="quality" value="High"><embed src="http://droprecords.net/drop_records/drop_circle_1_CS5_network.swf" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="obj1" width="400" height="200"></object>

I've tried about 5 different codes now and although they all show the flash button - none of them allow the hyperlink within it to work properly.
    So frustrating.
    The closest one was this one;
    <iframe src="http://droprecords.net/drop_records/drop_circle_1_CS5_network.swf" allowtransparency="true"  width="400px" height="200px" frameborder="0" </iframe>
But that opens up the link insiade a small iframe window instead of the full external window.

  • How to Combine iMovie+Keynote=iWeb

I'm trying to use iMovie but, have a file from Keynote which I'd like to either add to iMovie or import both files into QuickTime. The final application is to use these files for a presentation on the web. I've tried to use SHARE and other avenues to "stitch" these programs together for a single presentation.

Hi again Cie - just a slight amendment to my previous post!
When you first open Keynote, select either File > New or File > New from Theme Chooser. At the bottom RIGHT of the window select the appropriate size from the drop down box "Slide Size".
The information I gave you before applied to the situation where you are changing Themes. There you are given the options I mentioned - you also have the option to apply the change to all slides or just individual slides.
    Sorry about any confusion

  • I can't find iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie, or iWeb

I just bought a used iMac G4 with Mac OS X 10.3 Panther on it and it was used badly I gues because all this junk was loaded on it but I can't find a reason why iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie, etc. were not loaded on my Mac.

    Hi,
First of all, Welcome to the  Discussions Forums!
Your post sounds as if you do not have the original disks or a retail copy of Panther 10.3, correct?
The retail Panther disks do have iLife apps included. My set (retail box 10.3.2) came with iLife apps iMovie 3, iPhoto 2, iTunes 4.
When the original owner purchased the iMac G4 it would have had the apps bundled with it. If they are missing now it sounds like the owner deleted them from the disk or did not install them. Originally, I think, iDvD only came on Macs with superdrives.
If you let us know which disks you have, if any, perhaps we can let you know if you can install any of the iLife applications from them.
