Hyperlink to mp3 file for download

Hello,
I'm trying to add a hyperlink to my page so people can download my audio files. I put the files in my public folder on idisk and hyperlinked it, but when it is clicked, it just plays the song instead of downloading it.
Any suggestions?

That's usually the case.
Tell 'em to either Control-click/Right-Click, then +Save as+, or, in Safari, to Alt-Click to download.
Other solution: make a zip archive of the file. Then it will download automatically (hopefully).
Next they have to figure out what was downloaded. They should have a upzip application. A what?
In short, it actually depends on the visitor whether or not he is able to command his browser.
Supply the manual too.

Using WMP10 to shrink MP3 files for Nano P

I have a new Nano Plus and have decided to copy some music to it shrinking the MP3 and WMA files down to 64KBS WMA to save some space. I have used both Zen Nano Explorer and WMP0 to do this. I noticed something with the WMP0 files--some of them are horribly distorted. I am not a picky listener, but these are so bad I deleted all of them. I re-did them using the shrink function built in to Nano Plus Explorer and the resulting files sound fine. The ones I noticed in WMP0 that were REALLY bad started out as high bitrate VBR MP3 files. I suspect this has something to do with it. THe Creative Software, however, was just as fast and did a MUCH better job. The downside of the Creative software, in this case, is it shrinks a file, puts it on the Nano, then if you lose that file on the Nano for some reason you have to shrink another (taking much longer on the file transfer). WMP0 keeps a copy of your shrunken file for re-use. I upgraded my firmware already on the Nano and it erased everything---this is how I found out I had to re-do the whole thing. Since then, I made a backup folder for the whole Nano and put it on my computer. I am not sure about changing the battery and what might happen (thinking this is flash memory, so it should be fine).
Anyhow, just passing this along as my first really bad experience using WMP0. WMP0 did a fine job of anything that was a high-bitrate WMA file, it was just the MP3 it choked on.

Instead of dragging and dropping the .mp3 files to your iWeb page (and making them into QT movies), you could just make links on your page either graphics or text and the use the Inspector hyperlink tab to attach the .mp3 files for download.

If we assume that you have a LabVIEW application running on your cRIO that is exposing some data through web services, there are a couple of possibilities.
You can create a web service call that returns the log data. In order for the browser to treat this as a file, you must set the correct content type in the http header. To do this you can't use the default form of data output. Instead you must create an "httpRequestID" input to your web service VI. With this you can call "Write Response.vi" to give the log data and "Set HTTP Header.vi" to specify the type (text/text probably works for a log). You can look at "examples\comm\webservices\address book\FindContacts.vi" to see an example of calling these 2 VIs. Once you create that web service entry point, you can set that as the URL of the hyperlink control and it should work.
Another option is to have the cRIO application write to a log file that is under the root of the web server running on the machine. (This is the same place the xap for your Web UI Builder application is put.) This file could then be served up through the web server just like any other file.
With either of these solutions there may be concerns about the browser caching results rather than requesting new content each time. There are additional values that can be set in the http headers with the first solution that can help with this, but I think there is still some variation between browsers.

You need to create a text link to the file...
On your page, type a word that you want to be the link... then select the word, and in the inspector pane, click the link tab (the arrow on the far right) and check "enable as hyperlink." Then choose "file" from the dropdown menu and a chooser box will open for you to locate the file on your hard drive.
Choose the file by clicking "open" once it's located. Then the next time you publish, the file will be uploaded and linked to!

Error in maintenence optimizer while selecting files for download for EHP4

HI,
We are trying to download files for upgrade of ECC (HCM) and Portal systems from EHP3 to EHP4.
This download we are doing through the Solman 7.0. Solman is currently at 7.0 but going to be upgraded soon to EHP1.
Problem is that after we select the files for download of ECC EHP4, in step 2.1 i.e. 'choose stack', the next screen shows error as "Only one EhP release is allowed additionally".
Is this because the Solman is not upgraded to EHP1 yet or soem other reason?

Issue: You get the error message: u201COnly one EHP release is allowedu201D
Reason: This problem is documented in SAP Note 1139602.
If you get this error message, then you already have installed another SAP enhancement package on this system before (for example SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP ERP 6.0).
The error tells you that you have chosen too few technical usages. If you continued with this selection, you would not update all of the software components to SAP enhancement package 4 that are currently on SAP enhancement package 3. So in the end, some software components would be on SAP enhancement package 3 while others would be on SAP enhancement package 4. That way you would have several SAP enhancement package versions in one system, which is a state that is not supported.
Solution: SAP Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer requests you to select more technical usages and proposes a list for you to choose from.
If you implement SAP Note 1287216, then Maintenance Optimizer automatically pre-selects the technical usages that are already installed on the system. In the example here, the technical usage Central Applications has been installed on a previous version of SAP enhancement packages.
In rare cases you still get the error after accepting what SAP Solution Manager proposes. The reason for this is that you updated software components without properly covering technical usages.

Not that I'm aware of. I think the largest one I've ever made was around 98mb. At that point, the file became way too cumbersome, and I ended up splitting up the project more efficiently into multiple project files. There may be a limit, but if not, then it would probably be any file size limits imposed by your OS.

We would like to publish the ministers sermons on the web (audio files to download).
How do I do this in Muse, or is it not possible and should use another web site creating software to do this?
Is there an add-on which I could purchase which would help?

Hi Ossydoc,
You can use Muse to create such a website. All you need to do is, create links in Muse for the sermons and select " link to File " in the hyperlink option and link to those Mp3 files.

Now, when you publish your site, Muse would automatically upload those files onto the server and the users would then be able to listen as well as download those sermons using the links on your site.

Why can't my mp3 files be downloaded from my website?

Hello there,
I am creating a HTML website for a client and they want a 'podcast' page with a listing of their podcasts. The idea is that the viewer can click on the link on the web page and have a choice of either listening to the podcast streamed through the website or they can download it to put on an ipod if they want. The trouble is that when I click on the link, I can only listen to the mp3 files streamed. Normally when I upload a file, e.g. a PDF file, it can be downloaded when its link is clicked on. Am I doing something wrong? I need a 'download' option too.
I've read about RSS feeds and find it terribly confusing and can't find a clear, simple explanation anywhere on how to do it.

PS. The podcasts are not embedded in my HTML. I have them uploaded in a separate Podcast folder on my server space.

Look at this RSS example. View source. It's an XML file with a list of audio files. You can subscribe to the feed and have it saved to iTunes etc...for import into iPod, or Live Bookmarks, or Browser bookmarks or some other RSS aggregator on your PC.
Or you can click on individual links to launch your player.

My suggestion is to provide options for as many users as possible. Not everyone has an iPod, not everyone has Flash player capability.

How to add file for download.

I have an MP3 file which I wish people to download from my webpage.
When I drag and drop the file, it creates a 'quicktime' stop-play-rewind link, with a space at the top for a photo. Which is fine, for people to listen to the MP3, but how do I place it so it can be downloaded?

if your using .mac you have access to the older program homepage. If you go to the .mac webpage and sign in click on the homepage tab. Once in homepage look for the file sharing page and here you can upload the songs you would like others to download and it will publish to its own page. In your iweb page you can include a text link to the download page for your visitors. This is basically like uploading it to your idisk and providing a link, but buy using homepage you can add a counter to keep track of daily visitors. Just an option that worked nice for me. When i select a pdf file for download in a webpage instead of automatically downloading the file and opening it using adobe acrobat I get a new blank window in the browser and it says done in the bottom left corner

when I select a pdf file within a webpage and click to download instead of getting the "download" window and the file automatically opening after download using adobe reader I get a blank webpage (in the same tab) and in the bottom left corner it says"done". No file is downloaded and if I click "back" I just return to the webpage containing the link.

Aha! The properties for the plugin file nppdf32.dll for Adobe Reader indicate the file is for Adobe Acrobat. This misidentification is then used by SeaMonkey as a label in the helper application list.
Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37: nppdf32.dll has version 11.0.3.37. This is the version in SeaMonkey's plugins folder.
Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8.218: nppdf32.dll has version 7.0.9.50.
As for having both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on the same PC, this generally works providing Reader is installed AFTER Acrobat. Reader is freeware, and I want to keep it current. Acrobat is purchaseware, and I cannot afford to keep buying upgrades or newer versions.

Facing problem with posting Excel file for download - Content in browser

I am trying to post an Excel file to download from a servlet to a JSP. The content is written properly but to the IE browser and not in an Excel. I even tried giving the ContentType as Word/CSV etc. But nothing works, the content gets displayed only in the browser.
PLEASE HELP.

My thoughts on a possible solution, convert the last character value to a HEX value and check if it falls within the ASCII/Unicode CP range, Obviously this becomes easier if you are just looking at a single language character set.

Two problems with MP3 files for interactive PDFs

1. I'm putting in two interview excerpts for an interactive pdf. Last week when I tried to import the first MP3, I got the "cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation" error message. I don't know anything about sound files, so I just tried To MP3 from the App store, which converted my MP3 file to another MP3 file, I guess. The new file worked fine.
I got the second file today and had the same problem. So when I got home, I tried To MP3, and it solved the problem again.
Does anybody know why this is happening?
2. Once I had the first sound file in place, I wanted to replace the small gray box that Acrobat puts in. Bob Levine suggested

It was working fine, when I had just a play and pause button, but when I added a resume, the play button just stopped working. I tried all sorts of variations, getting rid of the double actions in the buttons, starting new files, new buttons, but the play button just didn't work. In my last test, the play button worked, but only after I had pressed resume. So I am completely stumped.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

OK, I should have thought more before I answered.
So I see that Media Encounter does import audio files but it only exports video. However, I did a test with making a video file from the MP3, importing that video into InDesign, reducing the video, using the multi-function buttons, and everything worked fine. I got the warning message that the "interactive elements are clipped in ways that PDF files cannot reproduce" but it didn't interfere with playing it back. Still, I feel as if I'm cheating and something is going to come back and haunt me.
The disadvantage is that the video files are larger than the audio.

i start a mp3 download it completes in a second but when i play it, nothing happens, moreover the size remains 0 bytes . i tried evrythng ,disabling the antivirus , using difrnt media players .nothng works .. is it nythng related to updating sumthng .. plss suggest me sumthng . help needed .. :/

How are you downloading the MP3 files?
Via a direct link or by using an extension?
Did you try to boot the computer in Safe Mode?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
